Usually I'm in the United Club drinking my Rombeaur Chardonnay but I decided to try something different and stopped at Vino Volvo. Great decision - I tried new wines and had a super knowledgeable server who helped me expand my wine palette. Eve was very personable and helped me find new wines that I enjoyed. Usually I stick with a buttery Chardonnay and a heavy Cabernet but this time I tried wines from Spain and a Sangiovese. They were great! I'm glad I did something different and met Eve who guided me through my new wine journey. I'll stop by the next time I'm in SFO. read more

Luckily Eve was working that day, she made me feel valued even though I had no clue what to order, resolved my selection problem on first contact somehow anticipating my limited knowledge of wine, and delivered outstanding customer service while the bar was swamped by thirsty travelers. I think this is the best airport wine bar I've ever visited. Located right in the middle of Terminal 2 in Oakland Airport. We just had a Subway Sandwich for lunch and now had two hours to kill before our flight to the Big Island boards. It's a great menu - they have the wines broken down into categories. For instance there's, "Shades of White," "Cozy Reds," "West Coast Kings,"and many more. We ordered from the "Shades of White" group. My wife had the Sauvignon Blanc from France - which we enjoyed. Very fruity and fresh - a great choice. I went for the "Taste all Three" option which gives me the opportunity to sample more. I'm not a fan of Sparkling Bruts, so I requested to switch that out for the California Chenin Blanc. And I also got the Mendocino Chardonnay. All three of the wines I had were most excellent. They have a very nice selection of wines here. The prices are pretty steep - but it IS The airport. The service was good. She came by and checked on us a couple of times and offered up some food - but we'd just eaten and were just hangin out and drinking some good vino. As time would have it, our flight was delayed and so we got the pleasure of having yet a SECOND Round of wines. We both enjoyed our first choices. So we had the same. Good experience, good service, good wine. We'll be back - next time we Fly out of Oakland!! read more

I walked into this place after having a bad day and left with a fabulous experience that gave me a little pep to my step. I was greeted by the servers as soon as I walked in with the most joyful greeting telling me they loved my smile. When I left they said, "Goodbye gorgeous!" I just did a quick 3 wine tasting including bubbly before catching my flight. They conveniently gave me a to-go cup since my flight was leaving soon for the last red wine. The champagne was my favorite. The charcuterie platter was ordered by another restaurant patron. I had to snap a shot since it was so beautifully made! The music pumping in this place was among one of the best features of this establishment. The man I was sitting beside said he felt like he was in a club - a smooth R & B club that would be. I'm a big fan of Vino Volo and look forward to visiting a location whenever I'm flying out. I arrive to the airport early and get through security before a flight. I like to get close to the gate I'm departing from, but if there is a Vino Volo - I'll go there. This time I was flying out with my family for a European vacation, flight was overnight so I wanted to enjoy a nice meal and some wine. My aunt and my cousin decided to join me. I checked in on the Vino Volo app and got the $2 sample, it was a really good and expensive bottle. My aunt ordered one as well, it's always nice sampling something else. The pours were decent. I didn't want to drink too much before my flight, so this worked out for me. I'm into full bodied reds, so this was a good flight for me. If memory serves, I believe I liked the last one the most. Service was good. Very low key. They more or less served me the flight and then left me alone. The garlic cheese bread was just meh. I also had the Brie and prosciutto sandwich with fig jam and it was weird. The fig jam didn't match in my opinion and overwhelmed the sandwich. I was contemplating on getting some wine before I board my NY flight for work & have a drink before tradeshow madness. I finally caved in and decided to do a flight and some popcorn here. The wine itself was good, I really enjoyed the reds and the popcorn was truffle-y goodness which is why I'm giving this place 2 stars but the customer service is reallyyyy lacking. I would come back again but I hope that I get a more attentive server next time around. Not sure if it's because I'm bumming it in my hoodie (flying a red eye so I just want to be comfy) or because I look young but I did not receive the level of customer service as the white men in the bar and the early 30's Asian woman next to me. The server came over to ask me what I wanted and I placed my order. She came back a little later with my wine flight but didn't even care to explain to me what wine was which. I did notice that under the wine glass were the names and explanations so maybe that's just how they do it here but I've been to wine bars where the server still cares to explain the wines to you even if there's a paper with explanation underneath. She did not check in with me like she did with everyone else, so I just carried on my merry way, chatting away on my laptop and doing work related emails and checking Yelp to build my itinerary for my NY trip. She literally went back to behind the counter to chat with her friend or coworker about going to Calistoga and getting bottles of wine. Super unprofessional as she would also cuss and drop the F bombs in her conversations. I was a server when I was in college so I know the etiquettes of a server, and dropping the F-bombs and talking about cute shoes so loudly when there's customers around is not professional at all. read more

This is definitely one of the best little airport wine bars I have been to! Yes, it's a bar in an airport, but if you're stuck in Terminal 2 waiting for your Southwest or Virgin America flight, and you love wine, this is a great spot to kill some time! It's much nicer than most airport bars and grills. They decorate with cute bottles and wine crates, and have comfortable tables and chairs. They have a great variety of wines. Though some are on the more expensive side, I chose a great Zinfandel for $12/ glass, which is the going rate for a glass of wine in any airport bar. My friend and I shared a cheese plate. It was no bargain either, but also was very good. Service was friendly and prompt. It is nice to have a server (in this case, the bartender) come to your table at an airport bar. Pretty nice place at the airport. I came in Friday afternoon and there was no crowd. They serve food and a varieties of wines. They offer information on the selection of wine. You are being educated and informed of what your drinking, where it's from, the flavors, etc. they have wine flights and lite bites. They have plugs at the bottom of your seat to recharge while you dine. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The place was clean.
