I brought in a group after calling ahead and making reservations. The employee on the phone informed me that because of the number of people in my group, they would have to shrink down the menu to two choices. A combination of bacon, sausages, eggs, biscuits, etc. Surprised by this. I ended up agreeing to it to make it easier on the restaurant because I know it is tough to serve a large group. We arrive 15 minutes prior to our reservations and we are seated in our own personal private room. We were all very hungry and excited to eat here. However, we ended up waiting a WHOLE HOUR for our food to come out. The menu was shrunk down to two items and it STILL took that long. Not once did any employees come out to tell us that our plates were on their way or give us an approximate time. A couple that came in after us also left due to the long wait for their food. They were waiting for 45 minutes or so. After an hour wait and 15 minutes of eating our meal, we received the check. When making the reservation, the employee had discussed that meals were going to be about $6.99 each. However, when we received our check, each meal was almost $10 each. On top of that, we had to pay extra for a few cups of gravy. After waiting for a whole hour, you think they would give some kind of complimentary item. We spoke to the manager and there was some miscommunication. We took it and ended up paying the bill. As we were leaving, we had one more chat with the manager and the way she spoke to us was very condescending. She couldn't care less about us and kept saying "I don't care." We were VERY disappointed by the poor service that was offered here. The website states that it can handle a group of 30+ people. Clearly they cannot even handle a group of 10. read more

When I read about the recent racial discrimination allegations in Everett's Police Department, my horrible experience at Vintage Cafe from '11 suddenly came to mind. I (Negro) met up with a white woman on our first date at Vintage Cafe in '11; bad choice. The young white waitress never looked at me even when taking my order. It was blatant avoidance. We arrived 20 minutes before a wave of morning customers but our cold food was served after many of those customers - I believe it took an hour just to get our simple breakfast order. I wanted to leave so badly but didn't want my date to think I was someone who saw racism in everything. **Although, many of my negative WA experiences always felt racist.** What made me even more suspicious was the all-day stomachache I had following breakfast: scrambled eggs, tater tots, bacon and orange juice should be safe!!! I was on my knees in my apartment holding my stomach for hours!!! Hopefully Vintage has evolved from it's hateful evil ways but knowing that Everett's so stuck on stupid, I doubt it. read more

'Cafe' seems like a misnomer here at the Vintage Cafe. It is not a place for coffee and reading a book; maybe more of a place to have a beer and chat with friends. I stopped in with family for lunch and we had a good experience: the server was flaky and forgetful but attentive. The menu was typical pub food, and the prices were appropriate. If you're downtown Everett, I recommend the Vintage Cafe for a beer & burger. read more

I've been here a few times, food is usually pretty good, and a good deal for the price. They've got smaller portions for when I'm feeling fat and bigger portions for when I'm really hungry (after church!). Service is definitely sub par, the simplest thing you can do is refill my water without me asking, come on people... and a smile would be nice. Classic wood bar with high chairs on one side, tables/chairs on the other. Exposed brick and several high windows make up the east wall. The front of the restaurant is all windows - nice natural lighting. I came in at 2:00 pm on a Thursday afternoon - not very busy but several tables were occupied. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger from the menu - which included breakfast and dinner choices. The coffee was very good, as was the burger which came with L, T, O, P and a side (I chose beef barley soup). The waitress was attentive and took care of all the customers in a friendly manner. 20s jazz (I'm guessing) played softly, which accentuated the pleasant mid afternoon ambiance. This may have been affected by the sun - the previous two days were cloudy and rainy, while today was clear, not only providing some welcome brightness but some amazing vistas of Puget Sound, distant islands and dramatic clouds. The food, atmosphere and timing made this a most enjoyable lunch. I would come back without hesitation and recommend the Vintage Cafe to any hungry visitor! read more

I was a little worried when we walked in for dinner and there were only two other patrons. The waitress told us the owners are still trying to build up business after converting it from a bar, and it tends be much busier when there are events going on downtown. There were two of us eating and we both started with a green salad - fresh, crisp, what we were expecting. I had a burger and fries, and my friend had the French Dip. We both enjoyed our meals, it was good food for a good price. The historic building is fun and the waitress was prompt and friendly. I'll be back. TERRIBLE SERVICE My mother, 4 yr old son, and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday morning at about 11am for breakfast as we were staying at the Courtyard Marriott close by for a wedding. We sat down at a table, were given menu's (along w/a kids menu and crayons) and then waited 20 minutes for a waitress to take our order. One of the best place in Everett as we could find. Very good old school interior with walls from red blocks. Unfortunately they haven't any kind of coffee just only a plain. Love this place! My friend who moved to Everett introduced me to this little "hole in the wall" that looks completely unassuming from the outside, with an old-time sign that looks like it's seen better days outside (but once you try it, it definitely adds to the charm!). It's a fantastic brunch spot because their breakfast is fabulous. I really miss Cracker Barrel since I moved here, and IHOP/Dennys are just a rip off. But this place has more home-cooked style breakfast like Cracker Barrel. Also: try their vintage french toast. Seriously. DO it. It's amazing. I haven't been in for lunch/dinner but I do want to try the chicken fried steak sometime soon. All these country staples that are so rare up here in hipster town, haha. :) The inside is so cute! I just love it. Definitely vintage with mood lighting, brick walls, vintage looking seating, and an adorably elegant bathroom. The staff can be pretty quick-and-dirty, sometimes coming off as a little bristly, especially when it's busy, but they are never blatantly rude, and they always do a great job of getting orders right and being accommodating. My wife's corn flakes encrusted french toast was quite tasty, but withou the eggs meat add-on it proved to be a very light breakfast. Now I tend to dislike having to respond to the question "How was everything?" so my feelings weren't hurt when It wasn't asked. Found this place as a last resort since the other places we tried to go to were either closed or had a really long wait time. The atmosphere was definitely "vintage" and very dark inside. Food was sub-par, gravy seemed to be from out of a can and the biscuits were from Cash n Carry...homemade biscuits are the easiest thing to make btw!!! Shrimp cocktail was mushy, watery and gross. My husband was stationed out here for a few months before I drove out and he'd comment on this place as a favorite of his. When I finally made it out here we went. This place is gorgeous. I love the look, and the amazing old photographs. The service was decent, not the best but I've had worse. The first time we went there the waitress completely bombed my order, don't know what happened but luckily I was okay with what I got. The second time we went there everything was perfect, and the food was still good. When my parents came out they wanted breakfast but didn't want a busy, big place so I took them there. My father can be a picky man but we all found things to try and we were all very pleased. I've never been in there when it was packed or even 'really' busy but it seems to have a steady influx of customers. I'm sure we'll go back a few more times this year. read more

I just moved to Everett, WA earlier this week. I decided that the first restaurant I'd try would be Vintage Cafe. I am VERY happy I made this choice! The menu consisted of many options. The particular dish I got was awesome! The waitress was very friendly, and was helpful in telling me about the downtown area and introducing me more to Everett. Felt a bit cautious after reading the mixed reviews, but met a friend at the Vintage for lunch, and happy to report that the food wad good, the service excellent, and there is most definately no bad smell. Well, the restrooms smell of disinfectant. The exposed brick interior, the Tiffany lamps,old photos and wood tables and chairs give the Vintage a warm and friendly atmosphere. This place is Vintage, that's fo sho. I had the oppurtunity to eat at this Restraunt with a couple of friends. To start the service was slow, but it was, as our server noted, because she was working alone and had a huge party in the banquet room as well as our table and a couple of others. My thing is, the Restraunt owner or manager should have set her up with some help. Service was dreadfully slow. Then we ordered our food. This came out with decent timing, considering the circumstances. I ordered the breaded veal dish. It was not to bad. The dish came with veggies and garlic mashed taters. After passing this place a ton of times, I finally decided to try it. The reviews were mixed so I had to find out for myself. The building itself is a treat, knowing it was around for so long. The food though was just ok. I always wanted to try a Monte Cristo sandwich so that is what I ordered. Instead of doing it like so many other places (so I have been told), they use french toast as the bread. The sandwich was good, fries were crisp. The Vintage Cafe is a homestyle cafe in the core of Everett. They serve old fashioned meals like pot roast, liver and onions, french dips and patty melts. Breakfast is biscuits and gravy, omelets and scrambles. When my boyfriend and I were disappointed that the Mermaid was closed for the holidays, we came here for breakfast. I had biscuits and gravy, with a pancake, he had an omelet with has browns. While the service was friendly, it wasn't enough to make up for the terrible food. The gravy was over thickened, had an uncooked flour flavor to it, and was highlighted with the taste of bacon grease. The potatoes were half cooked, a little hard in the center, but with crispy edges. I think my pancakes were a mix. Dinner is better. They serve an old fashioned "meal". Meaning you get soup or salad, your entree, a side plus dessert. I've had the fish and chips, and the silvertips burger. Both times it was satisfactory, and service was great, ensuring my iced tea was never empty. In the end, I'd skip it for breakfast at 1 star, but would go back for dinner and rate it at 3 stars. read more

The Vintage Cafe has been around since 1976 and has been the place to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cafe doesn't open too early in the morning but the breakfast is well worth the wait. Lunch and dinner is fantastic, great micro-brews, warm & inviting decor, amazing staff, unique decor, free WiFi, easy to find, lots of seating available and clean bathrooms. Try the grilled oysters, surf and turf, Angus sirloin saute, pot roast and the clubhouse...you wont be disappointing. Vintage Cafe should be on your list of "have to's". read more

Remanicent of days gone by is the historic vintage cafe. Food prepared from scratch. Hearty portions, efficient staff, and typically fast service. Try the classic meatloaf dinner for a real treat, or order from the early bird menu which is loaded with great meals and all the sides including dessert! My husband chose this place because it was kind of near our destination to pick up something at Despi Delite, and we needed a kid-friendly place to go. We had lunch. My husband ordered the Monte Cristo, I ordered the Fish & Chips, and we got a grilled cheese sandwich for our son. Note: The menu indicated the children's meal comes with ice cream. This is either not true anymore or they forgot because they never brought the ice cream. Oh well. We ended up getting our son a cookie at the bakery later. All in all, I'd say the experience was better than expected. There seemed to be only one person (maybe she's the owner?) working. She seated us, took our orders and brought our food to the table. Very friendly and great about checking in on us. I got the 2-piece fish & chips. They tasted really good. Very crisp and not saturated with oil. The fish was cooked perfectly. The fries were a tad salty for my liking, but probably just right for most people. They use real potatoes, though, and I appreciated that very much. The meal also came with a slice of bread that I think came down from Heaven! It could be the prego hormones (or not), but the bread made the meal for me. It was crispy on the edge and fluffy/airy in the middle. I don't know what kind of butter they used on it, but it wasn't noticeable at a glance. I could only tell from eating the bread that there was something on it. I had a bite of my son's grilled cheese (because he's at the phase where he only eats one type of food, so it was untouched). I was telling my husband this simple grilled cheese looked and tasted better than the Beechers one I had at Bellevue Square. The grilled cheese was on sourdough. It wasn't the hard, tear-up-the-roof-of-your-mouth kind of sourdough. It might have been the same type of bread that came with my meal. Really delish! My husband seemed pleased with his Monte Cristo. I hate ham, so I didn't try any of it. I take his word for it. For overall value, taste and service, I really enjoyed this place. I'd come back to try something else... and hopefully get my son some ice cream! read more

Meh. I'm in town working for the weekend, from Oregon. I see this interesting looking place and go in. Brick and dark wood interior, old school Tiffany style lampshades, ceiling fans, kinda cool, so I go in. I wait ten minutes to be seated, sit down and have my laptop and DSLR camera on the table. I ask for WI-FI, and am given the name (Vintage Guest) and password. I look for the name, and there is no Vintage Guest. Waitress comes back: "What was the wifi name?" "Vintage Guest" "There's not one by that name. Is it something else?" "I don't know." Hurries off.... No problem. I hot spot my phone and she comes back to take my order. Thirty minutes later the waitress sees me and says "Sorry, we have new guys and they forgot your order." It happens. Fifteen minutes later food arrives: extra burnt potatoes and super runny eggs. She did say they were new. Not a great place, but it has potential. At least parking was tough to find. read more

I was killing some time and spent a few hours here in the morning. It's a cool older building and the interior was clean, and the waitress friendly. However the menu and the guy cooking needs some serious help. The presentation is bland as well as the food. It's as if there is no pride taken and it's a matter of throwing something on a plate and taking your money. Maybe it's just hard finding good help but with all of the great restaurants around it's hard to imagine something so lifeless as this. The presentation and quality was something I would expect at a hospital cafeteria. The Chicken Plus salad I had was all iceburg lettuce - some shredded cheddar cheese - a few bacon bits - two wedges of tomato - and a tiny portion of what looked like microwaved chicken breast. It was horrible, and most of the salads on the menu looked to have the same basic ingredients other than the meat. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that is anything but extremely hungry and has low standards. If you're going to meet someone for a drink or cup of coffee then I would say you're going to enjoy the atmosphere. read more

My home away from home. This place is a staple of downtown Everett. It's not so much that food is phenomenal, it's just not bad. The Silvertip burger in honor of the hockey team, is a heaping pile of four kinds of meat. I often get their Deluxe chicken or the club sandwich as well. But honestly, one of the best things they have are their salads. Best ranch dressing I've ever had and the cobb salad is massive. The food isn't amazing (again it's your pub food), and the portions are acceptable (not too little that you are hungry but not too much that you are bloated). I ate here back in 2006 durring the day its an everett caffe mainstay with fantastic fish and chips! Bring the "later" evening and the vibe changes from family to bar and grill with an allllmost anything goes attitude. I remember the place being super friendly, and the fish and chips were great, as were the martinis. I had a server and the manager help me with some decorations and pre-fix menu for a special evening and everything turned out purrrr-fect! they were thrilled and excited to help!! They also encouraged whipped cream as a dating accessory (off site of course)!!!! ummmmmm what could be better? read more
