Had a long conversation with a rep for Vinyl Concepts about my issue of a $1000 engineer's report. As it was relayed to me, many companies use wood as the material they insert into the vinyl support beams. This will not trigger the need for an engineer's report to obtain a City Building Permit. Vinyl Concepts feels the use of metal for their insert material makes for a stronger build. Since it is metal, this triggers the need to get the engineer report before they can get a City Permit. The report cannot be a generic format as each job requires specific details as to size of the patio cover and where it is installed. The sales rep who came to my house did mention they use metal, but did not say that was the reason they had to get an engineer's report. The company I had install the patio cover used wood for the insert material which did not require the engineer's report. read more

I had called several vinyl fence and gate contractors to get a bid for two new gates. One, a double swinging gate ten feet wide and the other a 36" entry gate for the side of our home. One company asked if I knew the dimensions and then gave me a quote over the phone. Another company never returned my call and another said I was to far away. John from Vinyl Concepts came to my home and measured the two gates. I was given a full color brochure with a variety of gate styles to choose from. And then later, another man came out to do a complete measurement to insure the gates fit perfectly and they would have what they needed for a professional installation. And indeed it was. The gates look fantastic. I have already received numerous comments on how nice they look. Even from some contractors doing some work for me. Even though the final price was higher than the "phone quote", I have learned the devil is in the details. I got a great new set of gates at a fair price. I highly recommend them. read more

Multiple measures (no one else offered that!) and they discussed everything with us and gave us choices from which to choose the best design for our space. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 only because we were promised 4 weeks installation and they booked us in for 8 week install and I had to be very persistent about it. We needed a fence ASAP and I could not wait 8 weeks. That aside, the selection for design was extensive and the people who helped us were really happy to work for this company. Oscar and team were very concerned about our unhappiness with the original job and provided us with a few different options to correct it. I recently purchased a home with one poorly made wooden gate, and one completely rusted steel gate. I was contemplating having both repaired when I saw my neighbor's very nice vinyl gate, which had a Vinyl Concepts sticker on it. The gate construction was much nicer than any other vinyl fence or gate I had seen before, so I called them to get a quote. Scott Scheur from the Torrance office stopped by the following week and provided me with an estimate on the spot. Replacing both of my large gates was over $3k, but that included a pretty extensive installation that would require cutting out some of my existing concrete and digging holes to pour concrete forms. Unfortunately, after speaking with my city permit office, I discovered that they do not allow standard vinyl fences or gates. They have an obscure requirement that vinyl fences or gates must look like wood. While Vinyl Concepts does have a faux-wood vinyl product, the bright reddish brown color would not look good at all with my house and was not a viable option for me. Scott was as baffled as I, but he was extremely accommodating and available to answer my questions and discuss possible options to see if the city would allow alternatives. Given the city restrictions, I had to cancel my order. Scott was very responsive and provided me with a refund of my deposit. I was hoping to avoid the maintenance of wood or metal, but I'm now stuck with trying to replace my gates with one of those two materials, which will require regular maintenance and will not last nearly as long as a vinyl gate. If you want a top quality nice looking vinyl fence or gate, I definitely recommend Vinyl Concepts. read more

Even worked directly with our electric gate motor installer (The Gatekeeper, also A+) to ensure all specs were met and everything was perfect prior to install. The product is fantastic and my service was good. I had some heat related maintenance that needed to be done after 3 years of my instillation. It took a little while to get my message across to the company that I needed the fence fixed but they surprised me one day and showed up to fix it. They were friendly and efficient. I would use the company again. I don't think the product can be any better than it is. Patti Glover took us to meet with the team and took the time necessary to ensure we got what we needed. They are Vinyl experts and I would definitely recommend Vinyl Concepts to anyone needing outdoor repairs or upgrades. We tried looking at the large building supply houses and could not get the what we needed without modifications and special ordering what we wanted. We had a privacy fence installed by Vinyl Concepts out of their Torrance facility and we are very happy with it. From our first encounter with Robert to the end of the installation, everyone associated with the company was extremely professional and transparent. We were told our order would take about 6 weeks to deliver and about 2 days to install.. They delivered on time, and installed within the time they promised. Chris and Kevin handled the installation and they kept the work area very clean. They arrived on time and kept us informed on their activity and (most importantly to me) the "why" behind their progress. They finished and cleaned the fence and their work area. This review of Vinyl Concepts is overdue, as they installed a new vinyl gate at our house in 2011. We had an old wood gate that had not received much TLC over the last several years and was in need of serious repair. We were contemplating repairing and painting the gate, but then looked into going with a vinyl replacement, and called Vinyl Concepts for an estimate. The person who came out to provide the estimate (I believe Bob) was very knowledgeable and brought a working demo of the gate hardware with him. It looked very sturdy and attractive, and he explained the two options available, including one with a built-in keyed lock. We decided to go with Vinyl Concepts and couldn't be happier. The technical measurement done by Core was done accurately and the installation turned out very well. We have had no issues at all with the gate since it was installed. We've received several compliments on the gate as well! I would absolutely recommend Vinyl Concepts to anyone who's in the market for a vinyl gate or fencing. Yes... 5 stars! Great pricing for a new deck, and professional, reliable, courteous service. And very timely! Oscar and his team of Luis, Gary, and the guys all deserve mention. I saw an ad for Vinyl Concepts in the Home Magazine. I assumed that a company big enough to advertise there was probably going to be over our budget, but they were surprisingly reasonable. Ed came out to give a quote. Skeptical of how reasonable it was, my husband went to the showroom only to realize that he liked the vinyl over the wood options we'd been considering. Oscar came out for the measure and reviewed some changes we had to make to the design. He supervised the project from beginning to end and REALLY paid attention to our questions, even coming up with solutions to lessen rattling in the rails after the deck was done and paid for. With a toddler at home, it was reassuring how cleanly the team worked each day, and how courteous they were to us as their customers. We've dealt with various contractors, and this was definitely our best experience. Now, we spend a lot of family time on the deck every day. I am a board member for a very large condominium community in Thousand Oaks- 352 units. Our old wooden fences were almost 15 years old and were in need of replacement. We made the decision to replace these fences with vinyl to save money by reducing the need for repairs, painting, termite treatment and the potential for dry rot. We received 3 bids from local companies and were impressed with the color choice (honey maple) and price that Vinyl Concepts offered to us. The board went to their showroom in Newbury Park and we were given a tour of the factory area by CEO Rick Stull and Sales Manager Bob Roberts. They were informative and most helpful in explaining the process. After the visit, the board voted unanimously to go with Vinyl Concepts. It was the best decision we ever made. We originally thought the project would take at least 9 months or more to complete. It took Vinyl Concepts just five months to put in 352 fences. Any problems that arose were quickly addressed by VC and corrections were made. VC also agreed to our financial arrangement of paying as we go. Their work crews were professional, hard working and were on site at 8 am and stayed past 5pm until each fence was completed. It was a pleasure working with Oscar Ramirez, the site foreman, and Bob Roberts our sales representative. They communicated with us, kept us completely informed and were available for weekly walkthroughs after each section of fences was completed. I recommend them highly- especially to other large HOAs. Vinyl Concepts was hired by the elected Board of Directors, representing our community, and they took direction and instructions from the Board only. A few residents went on YELP and wrote negative reviews because they felt VC wasn't responsive to them. Most members of the association (owners) understood that VC would not respond to any individual, as they were not their client. The Board was their only client and that is who made all decisions as to what corrections or problems would be reviewed and if necessary repaired. Vinyl Concepts did not deserve to be negatively reviewed by people who did not hire or have the responsibility of checking the work before each payment was authorized. They were always responsive to the Board's requests. We will be using VC to replace the fencing around our pool and to replace all of the rusting wrought iron handrails throughout our community with the same Honey Maple color vinyl to match our fences. read more

My HOA Hired Vinyl concepts to do our complex. They first started off by saying we needed to remove 2 trees . We spent the money to remove the trees. Then they said they wanted stumps removed even though in my opinion neither were in the way. They took out half my fence so the tree people could remove stump easier. When I called to tell them the work was complete they said it would be at least 2 weeks as they needed to re measure and have the fence fabricated, How do you fabricate a pre -fabricated fence , ? Then 2 days later I had a note stating they were going to finish the units May 11. I was happy I didn't have to wait the 2 weeks after all. Well , it never happened! They started on other units that already had secure fences and no security issues instead of doing mine.When I spoke to Oscar the project manager he said mine was not going to be done as there was some delay they ran into? Come on! Since half my fence is missing, I had stressed to them I had small animals that needed to be able to be secure on my patio , and that I didn't feel safe with my fence being down so long. Common sense would be to do my unit first, since everyone else had secure yards and fences. But instead mine gets put off again! I have never had so many issues with a company as I have with them. I find them very unprofessional. I am not happy, what so ever! All I have gotten so far is a ton of excuses and stress! read more

Very Terrible experience from quote, to surveying, to 2nd quote and installation of our fence. Yes, it looks better, but it was not installed in the same location as the old one. We lost about 2 to 4 inches on our side and I took pictures of some cut plants down at the ground level, now touching the new fence on our side. these plants would not have been planted right on the fence line. And pictures of the neighbor's bushes that would have been growing and touching the old fence, due to growing sideways. Our neighbors bushes are not touching the new fence and large gap now, the bushes were not cut down to the ground, so you can see how they grew. The company gave us a hard time about the location and said only 2 inches, not that big of a deal. Well, when you consider how expensive land is in CA, it is a big deal when it cost about $6,000 and you expect it to be installed correctly. We have 2 more side we will have to do in the future and they quoted another $15,000. I'm sure they are not going to get our business again and anyone we know, I will not recommend this company at all. Now we have to pay for getting a surveyor out to correct this problem. And you can bet, they will see us in court too. read more

We have an 18 unit condo building located in El Segundo that desperately needed a new fence all the way around. Edgar came out "several" times to discuss all our options, and answer any questions that we had. At the end of the day...we felt VERY comfortable with the entire process. The crew were very professional! On time every single day. They cleaned up on a daily basis and were just very nice people to have around. Don't know what happened to my last review, but it seems to have disappeared from yelp. I had them do $6000 worth of fencing and gates. They were great on the initial sales and sent some nice people out. But the damage and mess they left behind was ridiculous. they broke the wiring for my sprinklers which was noticed as the grass trees and landscaping was all dying. I tried to call them left the owner a message which was never returned. Called back a week later and still never got a call back. After paying to have the sprinklers fixed and Spending two weekends cleaning the mess they left behind, I called and finally got someone who said they would send someone out to check on the issues...that was 2 weeks ago and they cannot be Bothered to even call and check up. they ruined my grass by spilling a bag of concrete which turned hard along with the lime destroying the soil. they also did not finish the edge of the fence and I want that fixed...It was a cheesy fix job done in a hurry. In addition there was trash everywhere, left over bolts pieces of plastic, and broken up concrete. Do not use these people...don't know why it shows I am in San Francisco on the review... The most unprofessional group of people. From supervisor to sales doesn't matter. Stay away from them. They pride themselves on yelp reviews and I was debatinig on writing a review because I know it means so much to them that I didn't want to hurt them by writing but it has bugged me so much I think the public needs to know. First, two guys came to give quotes on two different sections of our home. We for sure wanted one done but thought if the price was right we would do 2. They seemed nice and together. However, I got the quote on both fences and decided to only do the original one because the other was outrageous. I understand where we live it is rocky and hilly so I understood and just opted for the one. I won't name names but I was promised a call from one of the sales people and he just ignored it. I called a few times. I was ready to go ahead --a week later after calling to complain he finally called and gave some lame excuse why he hadn't called back. Still I was willing to give him another chance--gave me a song and dance about how he hadn't quoted me correctly-ie he didn't charge for chain link fence removal etc--was trying to peddle out of it. Then gave me another quote after giving me one in writing for 5 thousand more!! Seriously!!! I was so mad I called his supervisor--you will love this! Supervisor said he had quoted me for 2 and since I was only doing one it would be more on top of his incorrect building code knowledge! He told us we would need a permit and after doing research for like a minute we realized he was so WRONG! Seriously stay away from these inept group of people. They don't know what they are doing and they will change quotes on you, not call you back, avoid you and have little knowledge of what they are doing.
