To be honest, the Virgin River Hotel & Casino was solid for the price. When I book a hotel, I really only care about a few things: a clean room, cold A/C, and a TV that works. This place checked all three boxes. The room was no-frills, but clean and comfortable. The TV was on the smaller side, but it worked fine, and the A/C absolutely cranked, which is a huge plus in Mesquite. Ice machines were easy to access, and parking was plentiful, with plenty of overflow parking available if needed. There was also a poolside bar, which looked like a nice place to relax. I didn't eat there during my one-night stay, but several people told me the food was decent. Overall, I can't think of any reason I wouldn't stay here again when visiting Mesquite. If you're looking for an affordable place that's clean, comfortable, and does the basics well, the Virgin River is a solid choice. read more

First time staying here. I don't hand out 5 stars easily but I literally can think of nothing negative about my experience here. The reservation system was smooth. It took me a minute or so before I even realized I was talking to an AI - this was the most interactive AI I've encountered to date. Great speaking voice and had zero problems answering several random questions asked in natural language. Really only knew it was an AI when it stuttered on reading back my credit card number. Check in desk staff was super friendly and helpful. We have 2 small dogs so they put us in pet friendly room that was clean with vinyl flooring so any accidents would be easy to clean up. (Not that this is an issue with our dogs but I always question hotels that have carpet in a pet friendly room - like what were you thinking?) Bed was comfy. Water pressure was fine. There was a big dirt lot right next to the rooms where dogs could potty. If I was forced to find a single gripe about this place it would be about the other guests - not the hotel. Rude dudes with big dogs who think leash rules don't apply to them. (Parade your over-compensation around on a leash next time, eh buddy?) I plan on making this place a regular stop in the future. HAVE A FEW COMPLIMENTS: Their buffet- for 4 days they had the same tomato soup out. The pizza is lacking in cheese and meat. And the selection of food is just awful, I would have rather ate mcdonald's. Next the rooms- the curtains barely cover the windows, allowing light to shine through above and below the curtains, making it very hard to sleep if you're sensitive to light. The towel rack came off the wall do to lacking of wall. The icing on the cake was when a cockroach fell off the shower rod onto me as I was getting into the shower. I have pictures of it. Oh boy! where do I begin... When you are disappointed from no expectations, that is pretty bad. After check-in, I was unable to locate the elevator at first so I had to go back inside to ask the front desk. She impatiently replied "like I told you.. it is located off to the side of the building". The elevator is not a big elevator and is located behind the stairs. The elevator is so dirty and disgusting. It smelled so bad; I had to try to hold my breath when I was in it. So later I took the stairs instead in the 107 degree weather. The room is old fashion motel room. Bare bones: no lotions, no ironing equipments, The AC is so loud, I felt like I was in an airplane the whole time. The casino is tight. Virgin River Lodge did better this year! After a disastrous experience in 2024 I didn't think I would be back however I had no choice on my way to Sturgis motorcycle rally during August 2025. The staff and service really improved, more attentive, faster, nicer service and personnel. More comped drinks with low bets and fun bartender. The rooms are still the same, you get what you pay for. This was mine & my friend's 1st time staying here but not our 1st time staying in Mesquite. We headed up for the weekend to attend the Hot Air Balloon festival. This "lodge" was reasonably priced. I originally thought it was a hotel but once I was looking at the pictures on Yelp I realized that their rooms were outside & not attached to the casino. I'm glad I realized this before we got there & dragged our belongings inside the casino to check in. We did see two guys do this while we were there....ooops! The parking lot was full & the casino was busy for a Friday night. We got there around 10-10:30pm. There were two people checking in ahead of me but I waited under 5 minutes. Alex was the guy who checked me in. He was very nice, friendly & talkative with me. When I booked my room I booked a special that included $5.00 free play & a $20 room credit. He had given me two cards for FREE $5.00 FREE play for me & my guest. I mentioned the $20 room credit & he told me that management never told him about that so he didn't know what it was. He did tell me another customer had mentioned it to him too. He did give me the manager's business card & told me she would be there the next day on a Saturday & I could call her about it. I never got around to calling her to inquire on it so I didn't charge anything to the room. This special was listed on their website & I chose that booking, it was odd that the lodge staff wasn't aware of that or that it wasn't listed under my reservation. He gave me a map showing "where you are" & what building our room was in. I had asked how we would get to the casino if we wanted to walk from our room & he pointed it out on the map. We were in building 5, bottom floor (they have 3 levels with stairs & an elevator) room #5113. It was a short walk over to the casino with three options to get inside. We got a room with two queen beds. The room was old but I wasn't creeped out to stay there. The sink area is outside the bathroom. There was a rubber shower mat rolled up in the corner that I had no intentions on touching & putting in the tub....lol The TV was really small & very outdated as we always bring my Firestick when we stay in hotels so we can watch any of the apps on there but my friend wasn't able to hook it up as my Firestick remote wouldn't work due to the outdated TV so we had to watch the channels available on the TV, not a big issue. The ice machine wasn't far from our room & was inside its own room with a Pepsi soda machine. We kept the "do not disturb" sign on our room door as we don't use housekeeping while we stay in a hotel. The shower towels were small & we only had 2 in our room. I usually use 2 towels & didn't want to bother housekeeping or wait for a second one. We had 2 washcloths & 2 hand towels. There were 3 small, round bar soaps & there was a dispenser in the shower on the wall but I don't know what was inside. Was it shampoo? Body wash?? No clue as it wasn't labeled. Water pressure was really good. They had a luggage rack that I used for my suitcase & an open closet with coat hangers attached to it with a shelf above it. I don't remember seeing an iron in there? We had a small table with 2 shares that we used to eat at. There was a plastic ice bucket with bag to put inside with a couple plastic cups sealed with plastic. There wasn't a fridge in our room which was a little inconvenience for us as we bring drinks & food that needs to stay cold so we just kept in our cooler with ice. After we settled in we went over to the casino to gamble a little bit & have a drink. I couldn't use my FREE $5 FREE play as you had to take the card to the Player's club & they weren't open. My player's card was old & I had to get a new one from a pit boss. I didn't win any money but enjoyed my time gambling & getting free drinks. We stopped in there on Sunday so I could activate my $5 FREE play. The Player's Club was open then & a lady took care of it but I had to take my card to the cashier to pick a new PIN #. Once I met back up with my friend I realized the lady @ The Player's Club forgot to give me my driver's license back. I head my name paged over head as I was in line @ The Player's Club to get it back from the forgetful lady calling me to go to Security. I had to go to security to get my ID back, the lady there was nice & it was quick & easy to get it back. There are some parking spots out front of the lodge rooms but the 1st night we weren't able to get one right out front but we didn't have to park far away. The pool was open (January) & there were people swimming in it Saturday night. I had read the pool wasn't heated so not sure if that was true because it was cold out. The hot tub was open too. We did hit up Burger King inside Saturday night that is open 24 hrs & my Whopper with cheese & fries was DELICIOUS & cured my hunger. I would definitely stay here again. If your "high class/maintence" & wanting a 5 star lodge/room to stay in than this place isn't for you. read more

The bingo room is divided into non and smoking which is a joke because they have ceiling fans running to make sure the smoke is distributed evenly in the room. At one point I almost had to step outside. Bingo attendants are super friendly and helpful, will go back for the bingo. Okay, wife had about $5 in change from slots she was going to convert to paper. Guy in cage grouched at her and told her she had to is the coin machine off to the side and bring back the ticket. Third review I think. So the bad hasn't changed; it's a ruin down property that was once in its glory days probably wasn't much better. They have remodeled the rooms-kinda. But the you can't do much with this canvas. The good; it's clean and cheap. The beds are comfortable really they are. This isn't a resort to spend a week at, one, two nights tops because you're moving on. The restaurants are okay, even the buffet is good because it's cheap. It's pet friendly and they don't care how big your dog, cat, elephant or gator is. Just clean up after them because Virgin River doesn't! read more

Not only were we humiliated, their "technician" got angry with my husband for being upset & claimed the machine didn't record jackpot and refused to pay us! Starting off with it's my own fault for not doing more research before staying here. I grabbed a room for a Friday night as I was in town for a girls volleyball tournament. I just assumed that since this is a HOTEL, not a MOTEL, the establishment would match the name. NO, and do not be deceived. It's a hotel because it offers an entertainment venue, several restaurants (which were all excellent, by the way), a bar, and of course, it's in NV so there is a casino. I've never stayed at a hotel disguised as a motel insofar as the layout and room amenities. The rooms are definitely at the level of what I would consider a 1 or 2 star motel. Many motels at least have a good sized dresser, an iron, a large counter at the sink, a desk, an updated TV and a mini fridge and microwave. This room had none of those things! One small 3 drawer dresser, very little bathroom counter space. The only thing modern was the sink faucet fixture. VERY little bathroom counter space. The water pressure was terrible ... cooler water had low pressure, and a normal warm shower temperature had the water coming out like a firehose! Very strange. We were a party of 3 and only had 2 towels. Although a quick phone call to the front desk and housekeeping did bring more towels quickly! The was a little area to hang a few clothing items, of course, but no iron so I had to wear wrinkled clothes to the volleyball tournament! And due to no mini fridge, we had to drag our cooler up to the third floor. The room was old and depressing. It was a step down from a motel like a LaQuinta, or Super 8. One of the worst places I've ever stayed. There was no complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body lotion ... you know, the normal things that HOTELS have in the room. Nope, just three tiny round soap bars. The strangest thing was a soap dispenser attached to the wall in the shower! I think it was supposed to have body wash, but ours was empty. It did have a table with two chairs for dining or whatever, so that was nice. We ended up needing to stay one more night in Mesquite and Virgin River was sold out. Shocking, actually. But thank goodness! We ended up paying only about $30 more to stay across the street for the extra night at the Holiday Inn and OH MY GOODNESS! For just a little extra I felt like we went from the ghetto to a palace. It is a pet friendly motel, which is fine, but we did see dog feces around the property. Gross I would absolutely never stay at Virgin River again. I'd rather sleep in my car. But I will say that we ate at 3 restaurants and they were all amazing! This place is a dump. Bring a lot of booze because you're going you need it to brave the dirty shower, or the cigarettes floating around the pool, or the dog crap laying outside your door. Don't worry about setting any alarms, the maintenence person and his drill will be sure you're up by 4AM sharp. Let me start of by saying this room was comped. When I booked the room i was not given a choice of a single king or 2 quees. Upon check in no rooms were ready. Out of 715 no rooms were ready buy when I called a short time later rooms were ready go figure. When we got to the room and entered. You could see it was dated and we had 2 queen beds. Would of like a single king bed but when its comped i guess you dont have a choice. I thing that the queen were a little small almost a full size. Every time you moved on the bed it squeaked. The thin blanket on the bed was softer than the sheets. Sheets felt like they were overly starched. One of the pillows had red spots on it. Kind of gross. Looked like they tried to bleach them out. Didnt work. We checked out the bathroom first thing we noticed was the commercial soap dispenser stick to the wall in the shower. Very tacky. The bathroom floor was lifting up in several spots. Looked like there was some water damage at some point. The bathroom door looked like it came from some 1970's mobile home. The toilet was just over a foot off the ground. Made for a little person. Nothing like pooping with your knees in your chest. If you pooped it took 5-6 flushes to get the toilet empty. The shower has too temps. Hot and boiling. Tried to take a cool shower to cool off a little. That didnt happen. As for the room the entry door needs new seals. You can see light from the door frame when its closed. If your at the right angle you can see the people walking past. Someone with a screwdriver could very easy pop the door open. You hear every person walk by, you hear every foot step from the room above. You know every time the rooms next to you open and close their door. All outlets in the room need replaced. We had to tape our phone charges in place other wise they fell out. This is a very low budget hotel that time has forgotten. It would take an act of god for us to come back. read more

First and last time visiting Virgin River Casino. I lawfully open carried a firearm and apparently they have a no weapons policy. A security guard claimed there was a sign, but there was no sign anywhere near the door I entered. I fully respect property rights -- their house, their rules -- and they have every right to set a no-gun policy and every right to ask me to leave. Inadvertently walking in with a firearm on private property is not a crime. The correct response would have been to politely inform me of the rule and allow me to leave. I was already doing exactly that when told. Instead, they followed me into the parking lot, demanded my ID, falsely claimed I was breaking the law, and loudly called the police saying I was "refusing to leave" -- which was untrue. In doing so, they ironically committed an actual crime by making a false police report in a non-emergency situation, which is obstruction of justice. This all could have been avoided if they had shown the most basic customer service. A simple, "Sir, we don't allow firearms here, please come back another time without it," would have secured my compliance and likely my return as a customer. Instead, they escalated an unnecessary situation and treated me like a criminal. read more

Decided to stop here during my visit to Mesquite as I'd never been to this casino and wish I'd never stopped by. To start with the positive this casino has a nice outdoor facade reminiscent of old Vegas and that's about where the positives end. The inside of the casino is pretty drab and lacks good ventilation. The gaming options available are pretty bad the best video poker returns 97% with much worse options on most of the machines, the players club is also pretty tight with only mailers making up for it. The service is pretty bad as well most employees were downright rude and dismissive when I talked to them leading to one of my worst experiences in a casino yet. I went to the sports book to watch the game and was just minding my own business while playing video poker not even near anyone when a Hispanic man that worked for the sports book tapped me on the shoulder and told me I had to leave. He said it was because I was vaping in the sports book so I told him I would stop vaping as I honestly had not seen any signage to indicate it was not allowed and had been sitting there for close to an hour vaping. He then proceeded to tell me that I still had to leave and "it's either you leave or I call security to make you leave your choice" I hadn't ever talked to this individual before, I never antagonized him during the conversation and yet he still decided to threaten to call security on me for vaping in what was a mostly empty sports book when all I said is I would stop vaping. This was entirely unprovoked and unprofessional I expected to get some sort of warning but instead this lowlife wanted to power trip so I decided to leave and take my business to the much superior Eureka. I came back the next day to try the lunch buffet it was mid at best very small selection but the dessert section was decent, again the workers were in a bad mood for some reason but I just ate my food and left. Overall a terrible experience and I will never visit this casino again much better options in Mesquite even the local Dotty's would be a better choice. read more

They have a very good quality breakfast buffet and a lovely lady serving hotdogs outside the bowling alley for a snack in the afternoon while gaming. We were touring on motorcycles and decided to stay in Mesquite one night. The Virgin River Lodge was perfect for our needs. When we checked in, we were able to get a bottom floor room where we could park our motorcycles right outside the room, so loading in and out was easier and it allowed us to keep a closer eye on our bikes. A security patrol came by while we were sitting by our bikes, just to make sure they were ours. The security patrol guy was friendly, informative, and thorough, which we really appreciated. After a hot afternoon on the road, we took a dive into the pool, which was quite nice. Unfortunately there were a few drunk sketchy guests in the pool/jacuzzi area who made us feel a bit uneasy, but that's not the hotel's fault. We limited our time hanging out by the pool. We had two meals during our stay, both in the cafe. Both servers were prompt and friendly, and got our orders right the first time. For dinner the night we arrived, we had the $12.00 prime rib special, which was amazing. Good portion, good sides and tasty! Would highly recommend. The only negative feedback I have (taking the rating from 5 to 4) is the strong cigarette smell in the casino. I wish the ventilation had been a bit better. The next morning we were again at the café and their breakfasts were filling, good quality, and came at a very reasonable price. All in all, we felt the Virgin River Lodge was clean, well-maintained, and an excellent choice and value for the cost-conscious traveler. We will definitely stay here again. read more

My wife was so offended we had to leave. There were children in the bowling alley. Management should be more aware of how their employees dress.
