My experience started out great with my eye exam. After that, I went to Visionworks to pick out my glasses, where I was greeted by Sandra West. She immediately informed me that they did not accept my insurance. I told her that was okay because I still wanted to purchase a pair of glasses. Before applying my coupon, my total came to $262. I then showed Sandra my coupon. She seemed reluctant to apply it, but she eventually did, and the total displayed was $219. However, when it came time to pay, she charge me $436 instead. Thankfully, I noticed the amount before signing the paperwork. When I pointed out the mistake, her reaction made me feel as though she thought it was funny. It left me with the impression that she didnt think i was paying attention and she thought she could get over on me like im stupid. The situation made me feel very uncomfortable, and I honestly questioned whether I was being charged correctly. I left feeling like I had to closely monitor the transaction to avoid being overcharged TWICE, which is not how a customer should feel. I hope Visionworks looks into this experience so that other customers don't have to go through the same thing. read more

First time come to this places Dr Mark is very kind, patient and he will take times to do my exam. When I came to pick up my eyeglasses, Sandra West whose is working at the eyes glasses shop, she is very rude and she smelled smoked all over surrounding. I told the doctor but he said unfortunately yes I heard about her all the time. Well if she is not oriented and nice to customers, she should work at vision store. She should retired and stay home. I received n email a few weeks ago about a 60% off lens and frames from Visionworks asking me to schedule an appt. as it had been a year since my last check-up. The email gave NO instructions to PRINT OUT a coupon Yesterday I went to vision works at the Arboretum and Dr. Gifford gave me the eye exam. As always he was very good but then I went into the optician office to order new sunglasses with my new prescrption- Unfortunately, I got the optician who I'd remember had a negative attitude from my previous visits. She seemed very capable but when I mentioned the 60% off, she told me "like a warden" I'd have to bring the coupon in even tho I am a long term patient, am 85 and it wasn't disclosed I needed to print out the coupon. Her attitude and demeanor is awful and she didn't even hint she wanted to help me but I had to go by her rules (which she loved telling me) I will never go to vision works at the Arboretum again. She (Sandra) is a nasty person and I don't need to put myself thru that as a customer and patient. Literally the worst !!! I came in for an annual eye exam 2 weeks ago. Received my prescriptions and was told someone would help me in the vision works side to order my contacts. I am not sure what type of mediocrity they have running over there, that they hired Rhonda to be one of the faces of the company but shame on them for doing that. I literally sat there waiting for her and finally she comes up to help and begins to give me quotes for contacts ASSuming I didn't have insurance. I then say I am insured and I need to know what that price would be. She asks what insurance and then begins to huff and puff under her breath because she has to call to find out the price. When I tell her nevermind because at that point, I was already ready to leave after waiting soooo long for her to come back from her smoke break. I politely said it's ok I'll call back and I left. Fast forward to today, I call and boom who answers ... Rhonda I give her my name and tell her I needed to order contacts. She places me on a long silent hold and comes back and calls me another name that's not mine, and says my prescription expired. I then proceed to explain to her it hasn't expired, I was there a few weeks ago and reminded her that she was who I spoke with. She says sorry it's not in the system you'll have to come in and do it because the doctor's office is closed. The issue I'm having isn't even because the prescription wasn't loaded into the system (which I don't really believe because the ladies in the doctor's side ARE ON IT!) the issue is Rhonda is very unprofessional and probably needs to retire! read more

Rhonda is condescending and unprofessional. We have been assisted by her multiple times and she displayed the same unpleasant demeanor every time. She is unable to answer simple questions about lenses and insurance. She is unwilling to help and talks down to customers. Do not waste your time going to this store, I would suggest trying a different location. read more

My daughter had an appointment yesterday-the staff in the frame department were rude and very unhelpful. My daughter did not find frames that she liked in the store, so she asked to be measured so she purchase frames through VISIONWORKS online and the staff refused. The Optometrist was wonderful but now we are stuck with a prescription and no measurements. Kind of makes purchasing frames a bit difficult. read more

This place was most unhelpful. Or incompetent. Take your pick. My wife went here after getting her prescription from across the hall at Vision Care Associates. The two are not affiliated, they are just in the same building, but the convenience does not outweigh the idiocy. They told her that her eye exam ($99) has been applied to her $140 contact lens allowance from VSP and that she would only be covered for a single box of contacts for one eye. My wife left in tears and they made no attempt to fix it. I then called Vision Care Associates and VSP to sort things out and figured out that the exam and the contact allowance are two separate things and that she can still get the contacts covered by insurance. You would think, for someone who's only job is to help people navigate their insurance and sell contact lenses that they would know a few things about one or the other. But apparently not. read more

Don't expect the quality and service match with their premium price. Edges on lens are so faceted that it looked like its filed by hand. Staff showed no patience to fit the glasses on your face. The brace of one nose support fell out in 3 months even out of careful handling, and they refused to replace or do anything to it. read more

Very rude staff!!! Went there to get my daughter's glasses adjusted and they refused to help us because we had not purchased her glasses from them. I visited Visionworks on Monday 10/30 to get a replacement pair of sunglasses (I broke the first pair...my fault). Pat took care of me on the spot, even though she was "off the clock". She was very helpful and couldn't have been more pleasant to work with! I'll definitely return in the future. read more

Additional info. It is now nearly two weeks and I only have one of the glasses I ordered...for nearly $600. I was told the 2nd pair would take about a week but they would call me when ready. Since Monday was a holiday I didn't expect a call. But no call tues or wed. Finally I called on Thursday and was told yes they should have been here by now..we'll call you back. Seriously...there's no one following up on glasses orders...customers have to call to remind you when an order is late?? Guy called me back later and said there was a quality control issue and wouldn't I prefer to get them in perfect condition! Again...seriously... it takes nearly 2 weeks to find out the glasses have a 'quality control issue'. He didn't have a time estimate for when I would receive the glasses but said he would put a 'rush' on them. So now nearly 2 weeks later we still don't have the prescription sunglasses and have no idea when they will be completed. Buyers beware!! And I saw the note from Vision works on my prior post to provide my name and contact info...but I am not posting it on yelp. Seems like they should be able to contact the store to find out who i am...unless there are multiple people receiving this subpar service. read more

Not the place to go if you have insurance. They have a great selection of glasses, but way overpriced so that your insurance hardly makes a dent. They advertise buy one get one, which brings the price down. But that's only for non-insurance holders. They also told me incorrect info regarding my insurance which would have make it even more expensive. I'm glad I was aware of my own benefits. Always know your benefits before you ask a sales person here. (or anywhere really) read more

What an awful experience today at this Visionworks location. Took my son to buy his first pair of glasses only because he's a college student and is on spring break and they said they could turn the order around in 24 hours. I called earlier in the day and spoke to Sandy because I was looking for a specific pair of Ray Ban glasses. I gave her my information as well regarding my insurance and specifically asked if they were in network for my VSP plan which I was told that they were. Well..... got there and was subjected to possibly the worst sales person of all time.... Laurel. Talk about zero personality. When she ran my insurance she quoted me $185 for the same pair of frames and lenses that I would have paid $136 for at Piedmont EyeCare. I was willing to pay the extra $49 to have the SERVICE of receiving these glasses in 24 hours. However..... the $185 became $192 because Laurel said she quoted me incorrectly. I told her you are already higher than EVERYONE - Piedmont EyeCare, Target and WalMart!! I said go ask you manager to meet the $185 that you quoted me which she never did btw because she said her manager was on the phone. From there, she asked me if I wanted insurance, another $30 which I declined. She then called VSP and came back and re-calculated my price to $215!!!! For the same pair of glasses that I can spend $136 for at a PRIVATE EYE DOCTOR's OFFICE!!!! I said how can you do that and she told me that oh, we are actually out of network for your plan. Honestly, I think the whole experience was a crock. From the SHITTY customer service to the price haggling, I would never do business with this company. Period. I'm ordering his glasses from Piedmont EyeCare, truly a class act to deal with. read more

Poor customer service. We went there to adjust my sons glasses with intentions of becoming patients. While there my 3 year old had to use the restroom and the lady refused to allow my wife to take him. I am not sure if it's me or what. It just always seems to be something when I go to Visionworks. The sales are awesome and brings me in however my experiences have been quite frustrating. We were greeted perfectly and all of our initial questions answered well. Once the glasses were chosen there seemed to be something going on with the system preventing the correct price from ringing up and it took a great deal of time to get that situated. I asked the employee who was helping us if they would be ready today so we could decide to stay in the area or not because I live about 30+ minutes away. She said if the lenses were in we could. She goes and checks and comes back and says yes they would be ready today. She seemed a little disorganized and confused as she was placing the lenses and glasses in the trays. We didn't feel confident that the right lenses were placed with the right glasses upon leaving. Once we paid she tells us that the glass would be ready tomorrow before 4pm because the lab technician was on lunch and she wasn't sure where he was; by the time we stood up she changed it to Monday sometime "just to be safe". I really wasn't feeling great about how reliable her information was so I asked another employee who told me there was no lab technician in at all and they would be ready until TUESDAY! This isn't the first time this has happened and it makes it really hard to recommend others to shop with you all. Today was probably our last visit. The sale wasn't worth the headache and left us feeling like we don't want the glasses now. read more

Myself, my wife and daughter have all used Visionworks to select glasses, sunglasses and contacts. They have a large selection to choose from along with a helpful and knowledgeable staff. They were also helpful in transferring our prescriptions from our doctor in Arkansas. Our glasses were finished & contacts received in less time than expected and the staff was prompt in calling to inform us. We are very pleased with their service and will continue using them. read more

I've worn glasses for about 7 years now, every day, trying different styles and having different prescriptions. I've been to this Vision Works about 3, maybe 4 times. The first few times were alright, but I don't ever want go back there again. I went in for my yearly check up with my mom, did the stuff, got my new prescription, but at the time couldn't afford it, so I put off buying new glass until now. Two weeks ago I went in, got my glasses, and the prescription was wrong. I figured at the time maybe I had to get used to the change, but by the end of the day I had a major headache (and I knew right away that it meant the prescription was wrong). Now here's the thing my old prescription was and still is perfect, I can see perfectly fine during class, I can drive perfectly fine and see everything on the road. So I went in a week later (lady at the counter was a little moody, I tried to ignore it), told the doctor and staff that the new prescription was wrong, and I wanted my old prescription instead, doctor checked my new glasses, said that the right eye positioned wrong (so I was right, something was wrong). So an hour or so later, they gave me the new lenses... and guess what, still wrong. I told them before hand that I wanted my old prescription, that it was perfect, but Ms. Doctor didn't agree because my new prescription said my eyes changed, which is funny because you would think that I would know my eyes best, that I would know if the glasses were wrong, but no, she thinks that I was wrong, seriously? I just want my old prescription and the new frames, it can't be that hard, I mean I'm the paying for it, no matter what happens, you still get payed. So now I have the new pair of glasses, the lenses are still wrong, but I can't go back there just to be told that the lens is right, and that my prescription has changed when it hasn't. From now on i will never go back to this Vision Works, workers are no fun, and the Doctor is just rude. So now I will have to wait another year, (for insurance) to get new glasses and hopefully a new prescription that is right, or my old prescription. read more

I've gone here for the last 13 years for the sole reason that it is close to my house, and I have never been overly impressed with their customer service or prices (they once even completely screwed up the prescription in one of my lenses). However, following my experience today I will never buy my glasses from there again. Their customer service is lacking and unwelcoming; the woman who approached me in the store was rude, overbearing, and rather condescending. After years of unimpressive service and overpriced lenses, I will probably switch to purchasing my glasses directly from vendors such as Warby Parker from now on. read more
