Cocktail - hibiscus cove. Very good

This restaurant is located inside the Marriot Newport Bayview. The restaurant has a great view of the bay. The food and drinks are very basic. They do the job, but I expected a fancier menu and better presentation of the drinks. My husband and I dine at many Marriott restaurants throughout the year, and some really knock it out of the park. Overall, I'd rate this a solid B.

    Nice view

The food was great! The outside seating area has a nice view. We ordered the short rib grilled cheese,a short rib pasta dish and the kale ravioli, they were all so delicious and flavorful! My favorite was the kale ravioli, it was a little lemony and I love that! Cute fire pits and seating. Located inside the Back Bay Marriott, would come back again for sure! Perfect spot for a lunch date with a view.

This review is for the LivingSocial deal I purchased for a tasting for a wine flight of 3 choices, either 2 reds + 1 white or 2 whites + 1 red. I enjoy my whites a lot more so I decided to go with the latter choice. The wine flight was accompanied by 3 different cheeses and came with olives, jam, almonds, and little toasted crostinis. I could only remember the one I liked most, the LaCrema Chardonnay, but I still enjoyed the other tastings as well. I came mid-afternoon on the weekend, so it was expected this hotel bar/kitchen was fairly empty. But I actually liked that it was pretty empty, so that my friend and I felt like we had most of the patio area to ourselves. It had a really nice outdoors view that overlooked the Back Bay, and there was a nice breeze without any sun directly on us, but there is always the option to stay inside if you prefer that. Service was a bit slow since there really was only one person for both the inside and outside patio, but that was fine since we weren't in any rush. Make sure to bring your parking ticket with you so that you can get validated at the front desk :) Hopefully, I'll be able to come check out some of the happy hour/daily specials they have during the weekdays sometime!

Nice place to have bite before flying home to chilly Utah

The breakfast burrito was amazing. Never would have thought of putting torilla chips in a burrito, but it works! Patio dining is lovely. A great way to start the day.

Very good for a hotel restaurant. The drinks are strong and the food is fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the mahi tacos and the salmon is great. It is expensive but the choices are limited in walking distance. I have been here many times and have not been sad.

We came here towards the end of the day and before we ended up going to LA for clubbing. We were kind of confused when we came in and no one was helping us get seated, but they told us afterwards (though it would have been nice to have a sign or something saying that so we wouldn't have had to stand around awkwardly for like 5 minutes). The waiter was fast to take our orders and we really appreciated it. The drinks and food looked and tasted really good. However the likelihood of me coming back here is pretty low given I don't hang around Marriot hotels very often.

Omg!! I love coming here! Sometimes, I come for lunch and I get spoiled by the staff, Santos, Danny, and Sweet sweet Silver! The food is really good! I Try have different things on the menu, and can attest that their food is very yummy! Lots to choose from! My personal favorite is the Cobb salad! The best part is the lunch comes with a gorgeous view!

I was glad this was open. It is inside of the Mariott and while it is all takeout, the quality and quantity of food is what you want for hotel prices. It was well packed and included all necessary utensils and accompaniments. It was quick and still hot when we went upstairs. This and coffee and we were good to go.

I tried the chicken and waffles and it was delicious. I wasn't sure if it came with a side or if I had to ask for one, but either way, the meal was really good. The only small thing was that the syrup was a little too sweet for me, but honestly that might just be a me thing. The scenery was beautiful and the ocean view made the experience even better. The staff also brought out small beignets for the birthday girl, which was such a sweet gesture. I would 100% come back!

This is a serious food safety concern, especially when it involves a child. I called over the manager, Greg, and showed him the issue. He apologized, but then simply walked away without offering any meaningful solution or showing much concern for the situation. Undercooked chicken can make people very sick, and I expected the restaurant to take the matter much more seriously. Unfortunately, the response from management left me feeling that customer safety was not a priority. I hope the restaurant improves its food preparation and customer service practices.

I would like to thank the staff for letting us rent out the place and providing excellent service for all 50 of us. My uncle spent almost 15k that night! Shout out to him for hosting! The beautiful interior strikes a nice balance of upscale and coastal vibe, with a modern design that feels welcoming. We were seated by the harbor with views of the ocean and yachts. It was stunning and love the natural light coming down on us as the sun was setting. It definitely felt like a movie scene. Lowkey tip: Parking is limited so get valet next door for $6. On the preselected menu, there were appetizers and then three types of entrees to choose from. My gf got the Chilean Sea-bass, I got the Filet Mignon with risotto, and my sister got the Crispy chicken dish. Everything was a 5/5, but my meat was a bit charred on the surface. It was still medium rare just how I like it, so it's still juicy. The Sea bass was soft and tender. The meat just melts on your mouth like butter. So good.As for the drinks I got a whiskey sour and it was tasty. My gf got the sunset cocktail, which tasted like a refreshing grapefruit. We also got a couple Caymus bottles from Napa that we brought over and it was bold, a bit tarty, and very smooth to drink. I forgot how much corkage fee was though. The whole night was fun and filled with good talks and laughter. Birthday girl had fun! It was splendid, indeed. The nice woman who served our side of the table was so fast and efficient. Im just amazed by how remembers all that stuff we wanted to order without asking twice. Brain capacity is at large, lol. Service was excellent. You guys gotta come and try if you haven't yet!

Starting with parking, this is Newport so you need to be aware. There's an underground parking structure right to the left of the entrance (if your car is pointed towards the marina). Shorebird validates at the hostess stand, valid 2 hours. Atmosphere is great. It's clearly a more upscale (but casual enough) brunch spot on the marina. The decor is beautiful and high quality but not overly done nor overly extravagant. Can imagine the vibe leaning more formal in the evening because it does give "ocean club with the lights on" during the day. Menu items all sound and look delicious but the execution is slightly off. An example was with the lemon ricotta hot cakes - gorgeous in photos and such a great idea on flavors but they had a horrible bitter aftertaste that made them really hard to eat (about 1/4 way in I couldn't do it). Similarly the meatballs looked delicious but the meatball itself was not nearly as flavorful as it looked and sounded on the menu. Passion fruit margarita (zero proof) tasted like passion fruit flavored sparkling water. Was definitely a miss for us. Will try again and order different items, but honestly not sure another visit could make up for the disappointment and get this in my top 5. If it wasn't for the location, they would get my business once and I'd never look back...

The steak would have been better if cut into medallions. It was a very messy chop on the steak, and two of the piece looked as if being held by a string. Also the steak lacked flavoring. 2- The clam chowder had a nice flavor, however we had to send it back three times because it was not even warm. Each time they brought it back out it had a light steam coming off the top, but as soon as we took a spoon on to eat it was barely warm. The fourth bowl came out where the bowl itself was warm and the soup was a bit more on the warm side. I like soup that is it perfectly warm to almost a bit hot you need to blow on it. I questioned if it was exactly safe to eat at the temperature it was being served. 3- The hot chicken sliders and fries. The chicken was warmish. My son felt it was safe enough to eat, but with hesitation. The fries were cold to touch. He ate it all because he was hungry and didn't want to wait for it to be redone. 4- The French onion soup. The flavor was very tasty, but again like the clam chowder was not very warm. The food needs help. I feel like all this food was precooked and just sitting under a warmer. It did not taste like it was freshly prepared and served immediately. It was not busy so not sure why all food was cold to barely warm. Total bill was around $100, and I left there upset at paying that amount for food that was not worth it. I don't like leaving a restaurant and regretting eating out. Such a horrible feeling.

I stopped by because I was already in the area and wanted to check out a newer spot. They're approaching their one-year anniversary, so they're still fairly new. When I visited, there was a decent line, and the café was quite busy. There isn't dedicated parking, so you'll likely need to find street parking in the surrounding neighborhood and walk over. There is plenty of outdoor seating available, along with a smaller indoor seating area. I ordered the Guava Range from the seasonal menu, which is described as a guava matcha latte topped with mascarpone cream, guava purée, and ceremonial-grade matcha. I was especially excited to try it because guava matcha isn't something you come across often. Unfortunately, my drink didn't quite match the description. If there was guava purée included, I couldn't see or taste it. The only guava element I noticed was a light dusting on top of the cream. The mascarpone cream also overpowered the matcha, making it difficult to taste. Overall, the drink came across more like very lightly flavored milk than a guava matcha latte. For a drink that cost around $9-10, I was hoping for more balance and a stronger presence of the advertised flavors. That said, they're still a relatively new business, and growing pains are understandable. I didn't have time to stay and try any food, but everything coming out of the kitchen smelled great. Since it was busy, I also don't feel I can fairly comment on the service based on this visit alone. I'd be willing to come back and give them another try in the future, as I can see the potential and hope some of the smaller details get refined over time.
