The shrimp batter was crunchy but the shrimp themselves weren't that good. The sauce also was not evenly distributed. The clams were huge and the sauce was not too salty like some places. The catfish was caramelized perfectly though I wish there was more fish. The canh chua was my favorite though. We got the large (which was too much for our family of 4) and the ratio of vegetables to soup to fish was excellent. Overall a pretty decent place for some Vietnamese Chinese comfort food.

When we asked why the price did not match the menu, the owner said she had added $2 per bowl for a large size, even though we had not ordered that. Then, when we pointed out another $0.50 charge for takeout, she said it was a mistake and refunded the amount. I was disappointed by this practice because it felt like extra charges were added without asking, and the bill included items that should not have been there. Even small amounts can add up if this happens regularly. My recommendation is to check your receipt very carefully, as I found the owner's honesty questionable.

The Hu Tieu looked exactly like the photos on the menu, which was impressive. Everything about the dish was excellent--from the presentation to the flavor. The noodles were fresh, the ingredients were plentiful, and the broth was flavorful and served piping hot, just the way I like it. We especially appreciated the complimentary fresh vegetables and condiments (see photos), which enhanced the taste of the noodles even more. Best of all, additional fresh vegetables were available at no extra charge. Service: Fast and efficient. Ordering and payment were quick and easy, and credit cards are accepted. Atmosphere: Relaxing and comfortable environment with Vietnamese music playing in the background. The indoor dining area was clean, spacious, and well-maintained. Value: Very reasonable prices, especially for Hu Tieu lovers. The menu offers many noodle options, including both dry and soup styles. The dry noodles come with a separate bowl of hot, delicious broth on the side. Overall: We had a great dining experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic, delicious Hu Tieu, generous portions, good value, and friendly service. It was missing rice paper, which is typically used to make wraps with the ingredients, and the mắm tôm sauce was much thinner than expected and overly salty and wasn't authentic to the taste. I like that they offer is a selection of prepared foods to-go, including pickled vegetables and pickled pig ear. I bought the pickled pig ear, which was tasty, though the large jar was priced around $30. Unfortunately, it didn't sit particularly well with my stomach afterward. I might consider giving Mama House another try in the future and exploring other menu items, though I would probably order takeout so I could enjoy the food from the comfort of home.
