    Pho bo tai

Located near Eastridge, parking is plentiful and easy to find. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is large and spacious[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pho bo tai (2/5): pretty eh. The meat was tough and didn't have much flavor. The broth was kinda oily. The noodles were good though. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall Nan Giao is pretty lackluster. Food could use improvement.

This is the first time I've eaten here, and let me tell you my experience. - Ambience: 5/5 [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very clean, spacious, and has plenty of seats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - Service: 5/5 When my friend and I were still waiting for one more person to come, we heard the lady say that the power might go out because the owner forgot to pay the bill. It was so crazy, haha! She told everyone to order before the machine died. After we ordered, she told us the gas might go out too :)))). We were about to leave, but somehow they still managed to make our dishes -- thank God. There were some older Vietnamese ladies working here when we came. Our server was very friendly and made me feel like I was with my aunt. The food came out pretty fast. - Food: 5/5 We ordered Bun bo Hue, and let me tell you, Bun bo Hue is fire! The broth has a very rich flavor from the bones and is seasoned just right. The beef is tender and fresh, and the pork sausage is top-notch. And of course, it wasn't spicy at all for me. Besides that, the chili oil on top is a mix of shrimp paste and chili oil, which makes it very unique and flavorful. I also ordered some Banh Hue, which were okay -- nothing to write home about. Overall, I'll definitely be back to try more delicious dishes!!

We ordered a few different main dishes but many people agreed the rice chicken dish was best! I loved the viet style dumplings, as I've never had them before!! I thought everything was really yummy as a non viet person but the actual viet family I went with was split on opinions. Some said this is one of their fav spots and others said it was mid so perhaps it's up to you to decide? I also think it depends on the dishes you order!

    Salty broth

I ordered the Bún Bò Huế, and unfortunately it missed the mark. The broth was very salty--almost like plain water with salt--and lacked the depth and umami that this dish is known for. The noodles were also served cold and didn't seem freshly cooked, which really affected the overall experience. The chả cá was okay, but not enough to make up for the issues with the main dish. I was hoping for a more authentic and flavorful bowl. Hopefully this was just an off day.

I tried almost all their Vietnamese dumplings (very different than Chinese dumplings) and they were all delicious! Their custard apple drink was good too.

Come here for their banh ram it, banh beo, and bun bo hue! Nam Giao is known for their Hue-style food, so you definitely can't go wrong with these options. Nam Giao has become a new fav spot for my family and I to visit recently; their restaurant is huge so we're typically met with no wait times (+ideal for large groups!), and food comes out quickly. Each time we've visited, the employees were pretty nice and friendly. The only downside-ish is that their prices are pretty high imo, for the San Jose area. + Banh Ram It (5/5): This is essentially a glutinous rice dumpling filled with shrimp/pork, placed on top of a crispy rice cake. This place is honestly the best I've had the dish, and we get it every time we visit! + Banh Beo (4/5): Def tastes good, but just soooo expensive for what it is. These are steamed rice cakes topped off with ground shrimp + a fried chicharron, which you top off with fish sauce. It comes with about 8 pieces per order! + Bun Bo Hue (4/5): HUGE portion! The noodles are good and they're pretty generous with the meats. I usually get their "special" that comes with a mix of everything; soups are super rich in flavor and this can definitely be shared between two!

Many of the items we wanted to order were out of stock, which was a bit disappointing as they have been in business for a while... However, the waitress informed us that everything would be back in stock next week. We ended up ordering what was available. The food was decent, though nothing particularly memorable for me. That said, my partner and parents seemed to enjoy their meals. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, which was flavorful, but I was surprised to see multiple versions of it on the menu. I've always known Bun Bo Hue to be served a certain way, so the variations here caught me off guard. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was what I expected from an authentic Vietnamese spot--there was a bit of clutter in the corner, giving it a somewhat casual, lived-in feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, it didn't stand out too much in terms of atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On a positive note, the service was friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were also playing Taylor Swift music during our visit, which added a nice touch for me personally.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I went here twice, and tried the Banh beo, Mi Quang, and Bun Cha Cua. I would recommend the Banh Beo, as there were 8 pieces and delicious. The mi quang and bun cha cua were decent, but I probably wouldn't get it again here. They also have a tray of sauces and they were pretty good. Service was decent. It's located in a plaza so plenty of parking. I would rate it a 3.75/5, rounding up to a 4/5.

Maybe I ordered wrong or maybe they had an off day, but I didn't enjoy the items I got. The $6 watermelon juice was sour. I get that the flavor depends on the fruit, but if they know they got a non-sweet batch, they should have told me. I got the Mi Quang for my meal and although I enjoyed the broth, noodles and fish cake, the overall dish was very disappointing. It was supposed to come with fresh shrimp, but the shrimp in my dish were definitely dried (even the broth couldn't soften the hard, chewy texture). The pork rib was very tough. The sesame cracker was stale. The advertised pork skin was nowhere to be found. Lastly, our appetizer came out after our entree and contained a hair. Needless to say I was done at this point. I wish I would have read the reviews before, as I do not like smoking. The smell is definitely very strong, The people working there were nice, but I don't think I'll be back.

My family was looking for a restaurant to celebrate my sister's birthday and my mom decided to pick Nam Giao restaurant. The restaurant serves a lot of central Vietnamese food and we picked a variety of noodle soups and Hue dumplings. We ordered the banh beo aka steamed rice cakes topped with shrimp and pork skin crackling and banh ram it aka Hue dumpling atop a crispy rice cracker. I love it when the banh beo is topped off with real shrimp instead of dried shrimp. It just makes it so much better. The banh ram it was lovely and the fried rice cracker was crispy. My family ordered the mi quang and bun bo hur and they enjoyed their noodle soups. I ordered the Vietnamese udon AKA banh canh and it's different from other ones I've had before. This one has a lighter broth and I believe the noodles are made with rice instead of tapioca. It's really good and I had some left over. When I ate it the next day, the noodles were not soggy at all. I also ordered the watermelon juice but I would pass on this next time. For some strange reason, the watermelon juice was strangely separating. There was also no ice, so the watermelon juice was quite warm. The restaurant has a lot of seating and the staff members were friendly. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would come back to try the other items.

My go to place for banh beo & Mi Quang here. I feel that they don't give as much noodles as they used to but it's still good. Service is pretty fast here.

Even on a Saturday evening, there was a lot of empty tables. They deserve more love. The parking lot is huge, but the neighborhood is a bit shady. Beef rib soup: 3.5/5. The rib had a lot of meat, but a bit chewy. Not a lot of MSG. The soup was decent. Banh Beo: 4/5. It came with 8 tiny plates. The pork grind was crunchy enough.

I was heartbroken too. But I also felt bad seeing so many people leave negative reviews without even trying the ramen first. I've been a customer for years but review bombing a small business over a menu change just didn't sit right with me. I decided to give the ramen a try. Is it as unique as the udon? No. The udon is definitely what made this place stand out. But the ramen was still very good. The broth was porky, fatty, and creamy! The Chasiu could use some work. Classic Tonkatsu ramen 8.5/10 I'm really glad they listened to customer feedback and brought the udon back. I hope anyone looking at this Yelp page for the first time disregards the bad reviews and understands that is just how passionate people are about their udon! At the end of the day, I'm happy we get to have both. The spicy udon is still one of the best things I've eaten in the Bay and the ramen is absolutely worth trying too.

On the positive side, they do offer a large variety of ingredients to choose from. When my bowl was served, I realized it wasn't the one I had ordered. They had accidentally switched my bowl with another customer's. Later, while eating, I came across some of the marinated cilantro beef, which looked raw. I asked the server if it could be cooked a bit longer, but she explained that it was supposed to be pink. I tried a small piece, but the texture was still very tender, which made me uncomfortable. It also didn't have the texture of what I expected from beef. My cousin also had an issue with her bowl. The lotus root slices were cut fairly thick, so after cooking, it was still undercooked and crunchy. Overall, it was a disappointing experience due to the cleanliness concerns, the order mix-up, and the food quality. There are plenty of ingredient options, but I don't see myself returning.

There was a bit of a wait and you can waitlist on their ipad inside. We waited for about 20-30 minutes.    Before getting seated they ask if you want to do the normal hot pot style or AYCE. The AYCE runs for 90 minutes and is $24.99 during lunch and $30.95 during dinner time. They also charge for leftover food which is $6 per lb. We ended up doing the normal one pot hot pot for each person.    I always get my usual lamb hot pot which already comes with vermicelli noodles and choose rice as my free side dish. There are various levels of spiciness and I chose extra spicy which is a level down from there flaming spicy from what I can recall. Honestly it was not spicy enough but I did not want to get the spiciest level in fear that it would be too oily. Perhaps I will try that the next time to see if it is.    They have a bar further in the back of the restaurant where you can get creat your sauce and get some garnishes for your hot pot. I also noticed they have some other sides like noodles and such next to it. It seems if you are not participating in AYCE you can still get sauces and garnishes but I am not sure about the other sides.    The interior has changed from the last time I came here and it looks nice! Service was standard and everyone was nice. It does feel more chaotic now that they have AYCE but that  is understandable.

The steak was flavorful, the sauces complemented each other perfectly, and that classic sizzling presentation made the whole experience even better. I also tried the beef noodle soup. It leaned slightly on the sweeter side, but I actually really enjoyed it because the broth had so much depth and flavor. Compared to a lot of other restaurants where the soup tastes flat or bland, this one had a much richer flavor profile. Overall, the food felt comforting and nostalgic, reminding me of the Taiwanese sizzling steak houses and noodle shops I grew up visiting. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu.

It was solid, with good noodles, generous amount of pork, some fish cakes, veggies, and an egg. The broth was good, but not top tier. In a place that sells many types of dishes and doesn't specialize in ramen, I understand everything can't be best-in-class. The egg, though, was hard boiled and didn't have a soft center, which I like. That seemed like a bit of a shortcut to be honest. My wife ordered a sizzling dish and liked it - perhaps that's their speciality. Service was good, the inside was pretty typical - nothing fancy, but nothing missing either. Good overall, would come here again for convenience and because the food is solid.
