Pizza was very bland
Jim J.

We have eaten here many times and have always had delicious food and great surface this visit, however, was on a Friday evening and we had reservations. upon arrival We had to wait quite a bit before we were seated. We then waited a very long time before they brought waters to our table, it seemed like forever before they brought any bread to the table and and then took our order. my wife and I split the pizza and I can say the crust was done nicely, but the pizza was very very bland and would not recommend it as always. The ambience was like an upscale Italian place. Our food was bland, and the service was slow.

Hands down the best Italian place to eat in Indianapolis. I can't believe we had never tried this restaurant. The server was friendly, and she went over the menu and provided recommendations since it was our first time there. Their bread is so good, and dipping it in the Alfredo just took it to a whole new level. Their salad tasted so fresh and the dressing was great too. My husband love his shrimp pasta and I don't normally order lasagna out but was told it was some of the best lasagna ever made. Now they were not lying! The lasagna was next Level delicious! The cheese on top was quality! The filling was perfection and the noodles were cooked just right was well. All these components made the most perfect and delicious lasagna. If you have not tried this place you are missing out! The prices are reasonable, the food memorable, the staff super friendly. Sounds like the perfect combination to me!

- Great Local Spot with Thoughtful Service Vito Provolone's has a unique vibe--somewhere between relaxed and refined. The staff had great energy, very attentive and friendly throughout the night. We started with the cheese bread, and it was excellent--crispy, cheesy, and flavorful. She ordered the Chicken Alfredo and loved it. I had the Filet Marsala, and I was impressed they nailed the medium cook just right. The filet itself was good (a little charred in spots), and while I liked the wine sauce, the pairing with spaghetti didn't quite hit for me. Dipping garlic bread into the sauce actually made it more enjoyable. We finished with tiramisu, which was okay but a bit watery for my taste. I also grabbed a cannoli to go, and that ended the night on a high note--really tasty. Overall, it's a solid local restaurant with great service and energy. I'd definitely come back--probably to explore the seafood next time.

This local hang out is well know and for sure you want a reservation if going on a 'normal' hour! We spontaneously chose to try it and had to wait about 30 minutes - but it was well worth it! The menu is a decent size but don't expect everything, so it is more manageable and this all options are good. I was craving pesto so asked for a pasta with pesto, and even though not on the menu they did it! Much appreciated! The ambience is nice and feels a bit more upscale but casual as well. Our server was professional and helpful and prompt. The food was amazing and it was so plentiful we ended but brining almost half home. We will for sure go again and get another option, and make a reservation this time. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been.

Went to our favorite date night dinner place Vito Provolone's. We had our 1st date here & after being married a week I thought we were due for a visit. As always Vito's comes through! Had reservations ( a must for weekend evenings) and we're seated within 10 minutes. As always from the hostesses to the wait staff & the expediters everyone was great. The food is consistently outstanding. Great house salads ( their house Italian is very good!), fab meatballs & my better half loves the spaghetti with Italian sausage (a bit spicy) the garlic bread is warm soft & tasty as well. Now the fettuccine Alfredo. I'm VERY picky when it comes to this dish. I happen to cook a great homemade version of this so I'm always apprehensive ordering it out. Vito's consistently does GREAT Alfredo! Can't recommend this place highly enough! Pro tip #1 their food travels very well so don't hesitate to order carry out. Pro tip #2 Their pizza is very tasty as well!

Ask the Community - Vito Provolone's

Do they have Gluten Free Entrees?

They have gluten free spaghetti and you can get it with any of their sauces.

Do they offer any entrees with gluten free pasta?

I asked for a gluten free option when I went and was pleased to be able to get GF spaghetti. They can put any sauce you like on it. This helped me out having gluten free pasta.

Do they hand make their pasta?

I'm not sure. But the food is delicious & service is excellent.

Phone number stated it has been changed and the new number is unknown. Has this restaurant closed?

We ARE OPEN! We were having phone trouble the last few days. I thought it was fixed yesterday. Did you have trouble today (Friday)? Thank you!

While I don't think we should get an appetizer again because it was so much food, the marinara that can with the cheesy garlic bread was phenomenal. Both of our entrees were delicious! A ton of food. I wish we could have taken some home, but we're going to a show after. Brussel sprouts were to die for.... So good. Love the glaze they put on them. Again, I think we could have been fine with just our entrees and salads, but all the food we tried was so delicious - I am really glad we did. We may not make it back as often as I would like, but we love the ambiance, service, and food. This is a special place for us and we hope to share it with others.

The entrees (the monkfish special and the carbonara) were good but not great. I did appreciate the crispy, smoky pancetta in the carbonara but the monkfish had a somewhat mushy texture rather than the he firmness we would normally expect. The biggest issue, though, was the check. The calamari never came off, the meatballs for the children's pasta were more expensive than what was on the menu, and we were charged for an extra calamari dipping sauce that we did not ask for. Most of these problems were fixed but the whole thing illustrated a lack of attention to detail and an appearance of up-charging the customer in any way possible. Overall: Food: fair 4/5 Service: decent 3.5/5 Pricing: suspicious 2/5

Service was good and we were seated immediately and checked in on at a good pace throughout the night. We ordered the... Burrata Caprese 5/5 - Just get it. Get it. This was so good. We shared this as an appetizer and it was a great start. Short Rib Ravioli 5/5 - This was so good. Would definitely order again, flavor was just there and showing up. Shrimp Scampi 4/5 The shrimp was good, however didn't leave much of an impression for us. It could also be just because the range of different flavors we got this just seemed pretty ok. Dessert!!! We shared a cappuccino cheesecake and it was actually really really good. Was super tempted to get the tiramisu but we were feeling for something new and this didn't disappoint. Since we did it family style we thought the price was really reasonable and if you were visit for a late lunch or early dinner the area looks like a great place to walk and peruse at the little shops.

From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless. We were seated right away with our reservation, and our server, Taylor, made the experience even better. She was engaging, personable, and attentive without ever feeling overbearing--the perfect balance of great service. The menu had so many incredible options that it was hard to choose. A few of us shared bottles of wine, and I went with the Sauvignon Blanc, which paired perfectly with dinner. We also ordered the calamari to start, and it was everything you hope for--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. (Sadly, I forgot to snap a photo before we devoured it!) For my entrée, I ordered the cavatappi with pesto and crispy chicken, and it was absolutely phenomenal. I cleaned my plate without hesitation. Every single one of the six of us ordered something different, and every person agreed it was some of the best food we've had in Indianapolis. Needless to say, we'll all be back for future date nights and celebrations. Another bonus? Bocca has a fantastic happy hour, and if you're lucky enough to grab a spot downstairs at Verité Cocktail Lounge, you can keep the evening going with even more happy hour specials. From the delicious food to the welcoming atmosphere and outstanding service, the entire experience exceeded my expectations. It's officially one of my favorite foodie finds in Indianapolis. I already can't wait to come back--and next time, I'm hoping for sunshine so I can enjoy their beautiful patio!

Everyone who ordered it on this second visit raved about it. For my second visit, I branched out to the carbonara which was as beautiful on the palate as it looked in the bowl. A perfect crunchiness of the pancetta counterbalanced the tenderness of the pasta which was prepared to a perfect al dente. From the pictures yes they really do have a pizza oven, which is fantastic The calamari was great, especially because it contained tentacles. However, at this price point, the plate was pathetically filled with barely anything. So they're charging high prices, trying to present themselves as a great place to be, and yet are feeding you less than the competitors out there. Our server was very nice, however did not know what tentacles were. Our server was slightly attentive but slow. The two pasta dishes we ordered were very disappointing. The sauce tasted like they came out of a jar and they were definitely not homemade or made from scratch in any way shape or form. The cheese is as well tasted like they came out of a bag and were not shaved or cut fresh. Unfortunately, I can even do the simple pasta better at home. Further, the alla Norma I was playing a game of trying to find the eggplant. My partner got the Bolognese and you could not find any meat in it whatsoever. It was very disappointing.
