So good! We decided to visit after reading the excellent Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. Vito Provolone's is in an unsuspecting location and larger than what you first suspect. My family of four and I decided on the antipasto salad, stuffed mushrooms, white pizza and then for dessert the kids got the spumoni and I got the cheesecake. YUM! The food was good but I have to give this 2.5 stars because I ordered take out and they didn't give me napkins or utensils. I absolutely despise restaurants that don't provide that for customers. I'm traveling for work and staying in a hotel and I had no silverware to eat my meal. When someone orders take out, the whole point is to not have to cook or do dishes. It's so rude and cheap for the restaurant not to provide utensils with a meal. read more

Vito Provolone's. This is NOT Olive Garden! This is one of those places that feels like you're in an italian restaurant, except that it is in a strip mall. Try to tune that part out. The establishment has an old-school charm, feeling like it hasn't been renovated in 30+ years. The menu has all the usual suspects, and the bread is fantastic. I weight the bread service at italian places very heavily. And it weighs on me too! Location is small, and crowded on weekends. The loyal local crowd should help demonstrate the quality of the food. Prices are on par with other establishments (don't compare Olive Garden to this place, but they are priced about the same) I've enjoyed the basic dishes (think spaghetti, meat balls, chicken, pizza, etc.) and all have been terrific. The atmosphere feels local, dated, and just what I like in a hometown dining establishment. The kids like it, my parents like it, and it works for an intimate date or a family dinner. The back room has easy seating for a large party. We frequent Vito's when in the area - and recommend it as a great alternative to the large number of chain places just down the street. read more

When I lived on the Southside, I passed Vito's all of the time, but never stopped. I had heard great things about it, but just kept putting it on the back burner. Don't be like me. Go NOW! The food is so delicious and the service is spectacular. I ordered the tortellini with half Alfredo and half vodka sauce. It was so rich and satisfying. My husband ordered the clam linguini and raved about how fresh it tasted. Meals come with your choice of salad or soup and their delicious garlic bread. We were so full, but wanted to try the turtle pumpkin cheesecake dessert special, so had to get it to go. It's one of the best desserts I've ever had. What a place! From the outside it looks like a hole in the wall. On the inside you feel like you should be dressed in a three-piece suit, your first name should be Vinny and your uncle Tony will be along shortly to join you for dinner. My wife and I decided to go here last minute. I've lived in Indy for 12 yrs, and for 12 years I've driven by this place and always thought of what it would be like to have dinner there. The Ambiance is perfect. You feel like you are in an old school Italian restaurant, somewhere on the East Coast. I decided to have the salmon.... Amazing!!! It was so moist and Flaky. It came with a lemon butter sauce and capers , I love capers. I also got a double of Stoli on the rocks to accompany my meal. Great choice exclamation point. My wife had the lasagna , it was good too. I did my garlic bread into her meat sauce and verify that myself LOL. I had tiramisu for dessert... That was definitely old school tiramisu! We were here during the summer. It was excellent. We just went again in December. It was the worst food ever and I am not exaggerating. The only thing that was hot was my soup New England clam chowder. It was my husband and myself. My husband ordered the stuffed mushrooms for us. They were ice cold and I mean ice cold, I had the New England clam chowder, which I said was the only thing that was hot and very delicious. I ordered the Filet in Red Wine Sauce it was cold my husband ordered fillet Marsala it was cold and raw not undercooked but completely raw. He ordered medium rare not rare not raw he asked Waitress to ask the cook to please cook it a little more when it came back to us. It was still raw. The price of this meal. you would expect your food to at least be cooked. I do not know how these dishes could be as cold as they were coming from the kitchen. It really made no sense I could not figure this out because I thought they cooked it here in this restaurant, but this food was coming out ice cold like ice cubes had been in it or it just came out of the freezer. I thought we had found a nice restaurant and I was extremely disappointed. The waitress was very polite. The people seem very nice, but don't expect to get your moneys worth. read more

My family and I absolutely ADORE Vito Provolone's. The outside appearance does not compare to the inside - the wonderful food they make. Do not let it's less-than-stellar appearance and weird location fool you. Yes, the strip mall is a little run-down, but this is the original location [per their website there used to be another one]. I've been here with a large group reservation, as well as walk-in with just 3 of us. Both times we've not had any issues. Service has been great, the food has been even better. Almost every meal comes with a soup or salad - I'd recommend a salad with one of their house dressings - creamy Italian, ranch, or honey mustard poppyseed. It's not a big salad, but it's a good start. Also gotta give props to the homemade garlic bread. If you're really hungry, they'll continue giving you refills [good enough for dipping into the dressing, and take home]. I die for their homemade alfredo sauce. It's super rich and cheesy. On the usual their food servings are huge enough to fill you up and take leftovers. This didn't happen recently as I hadn't eaten much all day and scarfed down my entire chicken alfredo plus bread plus salad. No shame to my game. This place is a little off of the beaten path. From the outside, you would never expect to find such amazing food. The bread they serve is soft, and extremely fresh. We chose clam chowder over salads, and I will plan coming back based on when the soup is served, seriously. We were seated on a Friday evening within 10 minutes. Did it just fall prey to "Southside Syndrome", wherein Greenwood-y people think things are amazing because they don't know better? Listen, this wasn't a one off thing. We were a party of 9, and NO ONE liked their food. My penne with vodka sauce was all volcanic spice and no flavor, and if you can make ME sweat, you've done something. My mother's pasta was overdone to the point of mush. My wife's fish would've had good flavor were it not smothered in foul tasting sauce. The pizza was bland and boring. I just...I don't get it. Is this a 5-Star restaurant for people with 2-Star taste? I wanted to love it so much, but there's better pizza and pasta within 15 minutes of Vito's, and we will be availing ourselves of those options going forward. Vito's hits the spot every time! No matter what menu item I've tried, it's delicious. My go-to is the basic spaghetti and meatball entree, however their meatballs and sauce are so outstanding that it doesn't make the dish so basic anymore! I recently moved back to Greenwood and had not been to this place in almost 10 years, I loved it then and it was amazing again today! It tasted just as amazing as it did the last time, which tells me they have remained loyal to their ingredients and process. The staff were all sweet and friendly, and our server Lori was on top of everything. Their bread is delicious and everything tasted fresh and authentic. This is the place to go for delicious Italian food - especially on Wednesdays. Four words: half priced wine bottles. The wait is never too long, and the food is amazing. We had a birthday party for my mother-in-law here a few days ago. They gave us their private room in the back, we had excellent service, and the food was amazing. We try to avoid chain restaurants when we are out of town and chose Vito's on the reccomendation of the hotel general manager. We were not disappointed. I had the clam chowder to start with and with it came homemade garlic bread. OMG! It was great. My entrée was angel hair pasta with a homemade vodka sauce. Delightful. My wife is watching what she is eating so we put together a dinner for her. Kids pasta with no sauce, steamed veggies and the most tender grilled chicken she has ever had. $30 for two outstanding meals and I will be going back when I am in town again. read more

Have loved this restaurant for years...UNTIL... When a To-Go order does not deserve your best product, it is time to leave a tradition behind. We picked up a To-Go on Monday, January 7 of two servings of minnestrone soup and bread. The soup had not one full size piece of an ingredient. There were the tiniest fragments of zucchini and other unrecognizable veggies. Strained, there would not have been a tablespoon full of these fragments. Purely broth.
