The chicken was good but the white chicken parts were a little dry. The yucca fries were just ok. They weren't very crispy and not seasoned. The canary beans were just not good. I actually didn't finish eating them and I normally love beans. The yellow sauce it came with was just ok as well. I did like the purple juice. It tasted like grape juice with cinnamon and clove. This was a cool little Peruvian restaurant that we visited after going to Cypress Gardens. They specialize in Peruvian rotisserie chicken and offer a nice variety of sides. I was a somewhat disappointed with the size of the chicken but the flavor was out of this world and extremely moist. They are similar to pintos and were simmered in a slightly tightened broth with tasty spices. Loved it and plan on making some at home. My wife had a fruit cup and fries with her chicken. The Inca burrito comes with rice (I opted for the cilantro rice), avocado, beans, onions, salsa criolla and tomato. The fries were so crispy and well seasoned! The burrito is huge!! They were lightly fried and a small side comes with 4 pieces and the family size comes with 8 pieces. The chicken, which I was excited to try since the place is named "Viva Chicken" was plentiful but bland. I thought they advertised it was flavored with Peruvian spices, I tasted no flavor. My friend ordered the quarter chicken which comes with two small sides, reported that the chicken was bland as well. It smelled good and looked good but it lacked flavor. Bring a sandwich! We did a take out so we don't really know how the dine in service is but looks good. We ordered a whole chicken that comes with three "family" sides We were disappointed when we got home for a couple of reasons: We asked the lady at the counter if the yucas were real or if they were processed, she had only been working there for a few days and there is nothing wrong with that. She went and asked the manager/owner and came back and said they buy them frozen from someone that boils the yucas and freezes them before this place fries them. that wasn't true, these are from a powder run through a machine that makes them all identical, most likely from US Foods. Real yucas come in different sizes and the texture is different, flavor was ok, tastes like yuca but they should not hide the fact that it is processed. No stars taken since it is a small thing as to not being straight forward with origin of yucas. Sauces don't taste as they are named or they are so diluted they don't taste like the real thing. One star taken for sauces and here is why. Huacatay has a very distinct flavor, this tastes more like parsley with lime juice, so much lime juice that masks all else. Aji amarillo, again I never had it with lime juice and mayo, aji amarillo is served by itself and it has a flavorful kick. Rocoto is a pepper very high in the Scoville scale, at least 50K this was mayo with a little kick, it has so much lime juice that I can't really tell what it is but it is not Rocoto, it should be almost Thai hot. Ok, so maybe they run out of all three due to supply chain and had a creative cook in the kitchen, you can fool some of the people all the time.. Now to my opening remark, if you have seen rotisserie chicken at Costco or Sam's Club the chickens here are half the size, at least ours was, can't feed a family of four, it was like a Cornish hen, seriously it was tiny and with too much cumin. One star for the size of the chicken, two pound chicken doesn't "feed four once or one four times" seriously? Whole chicken comes with three "family" sides, they were medium at best, I understand this is subjective, "family" size is eight yucas so small must be 4. Lastly, I didn't see any smoke out of the chimney and I wonder if the ovens are Natural gas as I see a blue hose behind the oven and a gas pipe as well. Could be deceiving but I don't want to take more stars because there is another oven in the back that could be charcoal. Will come back and try again to see if they made any changes to the sauces and the size of their chicken. read more
