If I could I would give them no stars. This is the worst airline not to mention delayed for over two hours without any explanation. They stole two small bags inside my luggage. On the way back we were held inside the plane for over an hour without air conditioner. Flight attendants are pretty rude. They didn't even offered us anything for purchase. I love to leave reviews for the good and the bad, just so people are aware of my experiences. This was by far the WORST flight experience I had with my family. We traveled from Los Angeles to Tijuana because the flights were overall way cheaper, since we booked waaay last minute. Flight departure was from 7pm and arrival in GDL at 12:30a. We checked in with time, paid the extra fee for weight which we knew we were. No big deal! We get up to the terminal (which the airport is a mess because of renovations, so there's little to no sitting space in our gate area) and our flight info is on the screen, 45 mins before the flight, the screen goes blank. Fine, no worries... 15 mins later the screen changes to a completely different flight. So people started to question and would get very vague answers, staff would turn around and walk away mid question. After all the rudeness, all the nonsense and 3 different explanations.. Aerobus decided to stick with the story that the airplanes route was from TJ to Mexico City back to TJ and finally to Guadalajara. However, the earlier flight into Mexico was delayed for 4 hours because Mexico City had to shut down due to horrible weather Conditions we were basically screwed. Problem with that story is that Mexico City's weather that day was in the mid 70s, not a cloud in sight and no wind. It was all a lie!! We check the app, called a relative and checked the weather channel app. So there we are... delayed, annoyed and lied to, multiple times. Across the terminal there's another flight going to Culiacan. All the passengers are about to riot for the same reason, because they had been there since noon trying to leave and they were also getting lied to. Finally, it's time to board. Reminder our flight was supposed to leave at 7:45 pm and we were getting online to board at 12:15am. They wouldn't refund us because "it was out of their control as to why the flight got delayed." I mean, how in the heck is it our fault!?!? A reminder or alert would've been nice before the flight or before the two hours we needed be at the airport so we can stall somewhere and have my two year old nap or something. They have a 2-3 hour heads up that the flight was delayed for 4 hours. Ugh. But we made it! Safe and sound! But at 5:30am. Flight was ok we were all just really tired and ready to get to our hotel. But best suggestion is to pay the extra $50 or $80 in airfare then go through this head ache. You're going to pay extra for your suitcases, seats etc. we would've but every flight was already sold out or extremely expensive! Safe travels! read more

You can't beat the price! $150-175 round trip to Cancun!! Only two cons: - Lines at check-in seem to be longer than other airlines. - Counter personnel were very nice but the communication wasn't good. The main line was for Cancun and an unlabeled line was for Guadalajara. There were Guadalajara peeps in our line for at least 20-30 minutes before they were informed they were in the wrong line. But for $150-$175 these 2 cons really don't count! Hope they keep the prices this low! I'm not Mexican but I'm always down for the Caribbean!! read more

I do not have one complaint about this airline and am shocked that so many people do. This airline is very similar to frontier or other discount flights. If you are stuck up and prefer to be catered to your every move, then it's simple-- don't take this flight. BUT if you're trying to save money and arrive in beautiful Mexico then this is the flight for you!! They served drinks, a snack, and the staff were so incredibly kind and helpful. So I'm not one to write reviews but I had to take the time to warn others about this airline. Me and my boyfriend were searching for tickets to Monterrey Mexico out of Tijuana and we came across this airline that I've never heard before. We booked a round trip for 250$ the price seemed fair so we went for it not long after I started looking at reviews for this airline and it was nothing but horror stories about flights being canceled and not being compensated for anything. So I tried to be positive and hope for the best. So the day comes when we're supposed to fly out of Tijuana and just like everyone said our flight was delayed 4 hours they said. Ok so whatever at that point I kind of expected it. So they had us wait in room 12 cause that's where we were supposed to board. We waited and waited and waited. Not to mention where we were waiting in room 12 it said Oaxaca not Monterrey so I was like ok maybe they're gonna change it since our flight wasn't for 2 hours. But no we waited and waited so I decided to check the screen and it said that the flight was soon going to depart in Room 1 so we had to grab our stuff and run all the way to room 1 we almost missed our flight cause they didn't even announce that they changed the door. So we were furious that we almost missed our flight I think everyone was. The employees were rude. We were actually delayed 5 hours not 4. Now I'm in Monterrey wanting to go back home and guess what our flight is delayed again 4 hours!!!! I'm pissed I have work tomorrow that I'm gonna miss because of this shitty unorganized airline that I will never book with again. All I see are terrible reviews and there right. I was very disappointed with this airlines! Flight was from Las vegas to Mexico city. First we were setback 4 hours due to delays caused by a holiday. Which caused us to miss our hike the next day. When my fiancee was flying back they kept on changing the terminal to fly from. Also they were stuck on the tarmac for 2 hours before taking air. My flight return was cancelled and moved to a day earlier. I got a refund back but only through a wire transfer since it was only one flight that would be changed. They wouldn't even waive the wire transfer or foreign currency fees! And it was supposed to take 10 days to be credited, but it took longer to hit my account. After reading all of the reviews of this airline on Yelp, I was more nervous than excited for my upcoming trip to Mexico. I flew out of Newark to Cancun and from Cancun to Newark using Viva Aerobus and I have absolutely no complaints. The airplane was on time, clean, and we even had an extra seat in our row on our way to Cancun. They also had free snacks and drinks. Do not believe all of these reviews, this airline is comparable with the big guys. Plus, they allow you to check as many bags as you want for FREE. I'm with all the folks who would give this airline a negative star, if I could. I work at a non-profit organization, and we were taking a humanitarian trip with our interns, so we had a group of about 20 people. It was many of the kids first time flying, and they were already nervous about it. When we go to check in, the airline insists on weighing each person's bags together. I'm aware that the policy states a 10 kg weight limit on one carry on and one personal item, but I've never flown on a flight where they weigh the carry on and personal item together. Some kids' bags were at 7kg, and others were at 10.3kg and they wanted us to pay $50usd for the ones that were over. Of course we weren't going to pay for 10 or so kids' bags because they were a little bit over, so we start rearranging the baggage to spread the weight around more evenly. We also had one check-in bag that we had already paid $100usd for (and it was full of gifts for kids at an orphanage that we connect with when we visit), and they wanted us to pay AGAIN, even though we had the receipt showing we had already paid. Once we finally got our stuff reorganized to accommodate their ridiculous lack of logic (honestly, couldn't you just do the math and realize it all evens out eventually rather than being nitpicky?!), we were able to check in. At this point, they had to hold the plane for us about 30 minutes (and we had a connecting flight in Monterrey that we needed to make, and I'm sure many others did as well). So the kids start giving their stuff back to each other as we're walking...then we realize that they have another scale at the boarding gate and we had to go through the whole rigamarole AGAIN. Additionally, the "customer service" agents (if you can call them that - they were incredibly rude and impatient), insisted on charging us for the bags that were "over" (by .3kg) AGAIN, even though we showed our receipts. They held the flight for about an hour and half because they were very busy hassling us. I know it's probably because we were in a group, because they didn't weigh other people's bags as they boarded. I couldn't believe how ridiculous the whole process was. After we ended up paying for 3 of the kids bags (TWICE), we finally boarded the flight (which boasted a sorry excuse for leg room, no inflight entertainment, and no drink/food options whatsoever during the 3 hour flight). Because we had layovers each direction, we ended up flying with the airline a total of 3 times, and each experience was as horrific as the one mentioned above. THANK GOD we took Interjet on the last leg of the journey. I've seriously never appreciated an airline more in my entire life (and I've flown hundreds of times for business). On the way back to TJ, the kids had purchased some blankets, ponchos, etc. to bring back with them (which, retrospectively, we should have shipped...it would've cost less). That meant when we got the airport, and tried to get our boarding passes (which we weren't able to print in advance, and had to pay an additional $20usd for each), we had bags that were 1 or 2 kg overweight. We literally sat on the airport floor and threw away toiletries, clothing, books, shoes, etc. and moved items around bags to meet their ridiculous requirements, constantly weighing and reweighing the bags to try to avoid paying hundreds of additional dollars in fees. We were the last ones to board each and every flight because of their insane extortion, and I can assure you, the other passengers did not appreciate the hold up either. I've never written a wrathful review before, but if I can help even one person avoid the same treatment we experienced at these people's hands, then all those wasted hours will be worth it, and this review will save you a load of sweat, tears, and dollars. read more

The seats don't recline, they don't let you bring any outside food or drinks in, they are super strict about your baggage weight (including carry-on), but most importantly they are never on time. I booked a round trip ticket from Puerto Escondido to Mexico City. The outgoing flight was 2 hours delayed and the return flight was 10 hours late. Yes, I said 10 hours. They claimed the reason was because of fog at Mexico City Airport, but if that was the case, why were all the other airlines able to fly? This "low cost" airlines nickel and dimes you for many features when you check out online. Additionally, the online ticket print boarding pass feature never works (maybe for all those who aren't Mexican nationals?) so on our return flight, had to literally pay a hefty fee at the check in counter so they would PRINT our boarding passes! They denied us even checking in until we paid the fee. We are still not sure if we paid a bribe. And after all this, we were placed in the back of the plane despite paying extra for the "VIP" service. Please please please do not try this airline. It's not about good or bad. It's about a tiny company that is very unorganized and has no leadership in place. Let me start my story... so we left from Victoria to Sanjose Cabos and the plane was delayed for one hour. But please let me be clear where it was delayed. It was delayed inside the plane due to paperwork. It's not like they didn't know or gave us a delay while we were in the terminal. Nope it was inside the plane. Now coming back to Victoria we were diverted due to " fog issues " but the truth is most planes landed at the same time that we were diverted. There are several stories that the crew flew too long that we had to land somewhere so we landed in Abbotsford at around 10:40PST. Now here is another problem for you, since this is a tiny company the airport won't allow us to get off the plane without a personnel from VIVA to come and let us out. It's 12:05AM and we still can't leave. They will give you one bag of chips and one water. If you need more water too bad you will pay for it. They have no vegetarian meals even though you are willing to pay for it but tough love. You will have to eat meat or don't bother ordering lol. There are no barf bags or any kind of entertainment system. Don't even try to use your tablets cause nothing works. No food no water and restless children just confused on why this is taking so long. I regret flying with VIVA through SUNGWING btw. We paid Sunwing but flew viva lol..... Kudos to WestJet, I know if this would have happened while flying through them we would have been in a different situation as we were with viva. Class Action lawsuit coming..... We have been abandoned and were told to take taxi's to the ferry.... Abbotsford airport really did their best to help us. SUNGWING and VIVA did NOTHING to help. First time flying with this airline and we were told our flight was delayed. They claimed that for some reason they could not land in Guadalajara until midnight. We were scheduled to fly out at 655. It didn't make sense considering several other flight to Guadalajara we're leaving without issue. We are still waiting but on the plus side they did give us a free food voucher. Harrowing journey from Mexico City to Merida Its true what they say: you get what you pay for. I am deeply disappointed in this airline and their utter lack of customer service. We paid for an upgrade while buying our tickets and had paid for 2 bags but they were not helpful or considerate when we showed up with one bag that was overweight. They not made us pay for the one bag that was overweight( which i was bummed by but willing to do),but i was told that there is a second counter to go to. I waited in the 2nd line only to be told to come back and pay back at the first counter. I was also told that there is NO way to get any money back for the unused second bag and was given a chit of paper with a few telephone numbers to call. Additionally, the woman seemed to pull numbers for the overweight bag from thin air starting at 900 MXN but ending at 600 MXN. there was no explanation for the tariff or any apology for the inconvenience. My wife, kids and two cats were supposed to fly out of Tijuana to Leon two days ago. When we bought the tickets online, the link to pay for pets was broken but we were assured that they would be able to pay for the cats at check in. When she got there with plenty of time to spare, she was told that they don't accept cash, which was all she had, as she knew her cards wouldn't work in Mexico. Because of the measly $40 pet fee, they told her that she could not board the plane, would have to buy a ticket for a different day (which have now gone up in price by a factor of 500%) and would lose all of the money we spent on the tickets. ALL OVER 2 TWENTY DOLLAR BILLS! The next day when I called to try and get the issue resolved, I was on hold for TWO AND A HALF HOURS before hanging up. So today I called at 6:30am hoping the wait would be shorter, which it was. When I finally spoke to someone, they said that they wouldn't reimburse us because it says in the terms of service that they don't accept cash at check in... which is BS. Before calling, I went through the TOS with a fine toothed comb to make sure it didn't say anything like that and lo and behold, it says nothing of the sort but she kept insisting it did, yet she was unable to tell me where. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she told me that there was no English speaking supervisor... at the call center for English-speaking customers. I told her that my family would be flying back monthly to visit me as well as friends and family would regularly be flying down, and that I would make sure that none of them flew with VivaAerobus if they didn't resolve the issue, amounting to thousands of dollars in lost revenue for their company. She then just asked in a smart ass voice if I had any other questions and then hung up on me. It's now my life's mission to make sure that no one ever flies with them again. I had just 10-kilo language so I went directly to the gate. When I went to the gate they asked me to pay 450 Pesos for 2 kilo extra I said No I will not pay that money, Then I put all my clothes on and I said Bingooooo now it is 10 Kilo. On the way back They asked me again to pay 850 Pesos for taking my small tent while I have been taking my tent with me for more than 2 years and with different airlines. Again I said no I will not pay. The time was running and I asked why the tent is a problem while I took it with me on the previous flight?? they answered no it is the Airport regulations. The worst experience ever! The airline personnel in Mexico didn't speak English, treated us with hostility, and just didn't let us board the plane for no legit reason. After giving us boarding passes, we tried to pass through security and the security searched out bags and found skydiving gear. Now I couldn't find anything about skydiving gear in the list of prohibited items, but the security guys said that they'll only allow us to carry it through with a permission of the airline, otherwise we must check it in. We went back to check in counters where it took us some time to find an English speaking representative, who just told us that the airline won't take any responsibility for our items, and they won't check it in either " you just have to jump into our next flight which is tomorrow, and you're responsible to pay for it!" We tried to get any explanation of why our carry on items are questionable or prohibited, we checked the list of the prohibited items and it didn't say anything about skydiving equipment. Messed up my seat!!! I am 6'5 and require extra legroom. They assured me at the gate that I was assigned an exit aisle seat. I paid an additional $40 for this seat reservation. Seat was no even close. I was assigned 20f which is 7 rows away from the 2 exit aisles. An elderly woman about 5 feet tall got my seat. Stewardess didn't speak English and was not helpful. No other passengers offered to switch seats with me. I can't really blame them because the standard seat was small. Our flight was delayed for over an hour due to a paperwork issues. We were given a drink no other food was provided. The coke was very flat. They also make you take a bus from the airport gate to the plane. After a fifteen minute bus trip where you find yourself in traffic amidst other luggage trucks and Large aircraft the park you next to the plane. Then they make you wait for 20 minutes to let you out of the bus while they finish cleaning the plane. We watched two sets of cleaning crew be patted down by security after leaving the plane with their vacuum backpacks. Seemed strange. But we did make it to our destination safe. read more

Don't travel with that company! Run away!!! At first it looks attractive: flat prices, but you have to pay extra for everything, check-in bagages, cross-border XPress and even seats! Yes the ticket does'5 not include the seat . If you don't pay extra bucks you are not sure to have a seat... even thought I paid I didn't get into the plane. I couldn't check-in online because I was traveling with a baby so the website wouldn't let me. I arrived 90 min prior the departure and waited 90 min in the check-in line until the departure time arrives. Then they told us that the plane was smaller than expected, I don't buy their smaller plane bullshit, they overbooked the flight. I asked to talk to a manager and the guy at the check-in told me to go to Vivaaerobus desk which I did but the manager wasn't there...I got back to the check-in and asked again to talk to a manager. I heard the steward talking to his manager but he told me he wasn't able to come because he was on a flight (they really think I am stupid!) then since I raised the voice, the manager finally came (he probably landed during the 20 Minutes I was waiting ). The manager: Hector Mancilla Ramirez didn't speak English (seriously? Manager in an airport?) , he offered us a round trip anywhere with their company, a voucher to eat at the airport and they booked us on the evening flight. The problem was that this flight landed in Mexico City at midnight. So I asked if they would offer us the transportation from the airport to our hotel. They said no, the company doesn't care about leaving passenger with babies riding in the subway at night! This airline isn't worthy of a single star. We had booked this flight because it was our last option to head home after a family member had passed away. It was 8 passengers and obviously the tickets were expensive. We ended up getting our flight cancelled with no explanation. A 1 1/2 month later I am still fighting for my refund. They put you on hold for over 15 minutes to tell you they can not do anything and you have to call again. I am to the point where I am about to fill a law suit against them. Had a round trip flight from Houston to CDMX and going trip was delayed 1 hr and my hard case luggage was damaged after picking it up from the band. My flight back also got delayed an hour and when I went to check in the old me to take a ticket to the gate to see if anyone cancelled or didn't show up to get a seat which i booked in advanced. They said they over sold the flights. Which I was not the only one waiting there was a long line for more people waiting on a seat. They said if no one cancelled them they would put me and my husband in another flight. Which I wouldn't of mind but I was flying with my grandma a senior with Alzheimer's and my under aged sister, mom but they got a seat. When we arrived to our destination it looks like they had threw my hard case luggage again because it got bent. If I could give zero stars, I would. My flight from CDMX to Houston for today July 24. was supposed to be at 6:30pm, it was delayed an hour. That was fine. I've had delayed flights before, no problem. We boarded and then it was announced that there was an extra hour of delay due to the runways being really backed up from other airlines. Then it was announced that our flight was canceled because the Houston (Bush) airport was not able to receive us. We had to get out of the plane and we were sent back to their ticket desk so they can book us another flight. The two options that were given were to go back to Monterrey,MX at 12pm next day (Monday) and then fly out until Tuesday at 6pm or get a refund. They had hotel Bouchers but that doesn't make up for two days of missed work. They are a very bad airline that shouldn't be operating. I decided to get a refund that will take 3 days which I have to call them to make sure they do it. Reading some reviews, that's also a headache. Now I am at the airport waiting for another flight that I had to pay so I can be back on Monday. There are way too many people here laying down on the floor because of them. I have never written a bad review for anyone, but we had the most horrible experience with this airline. They overbooked the flight, not by just a few people, but I would estimate by at least 35-40%, based on how many people we saw that were denied boarding and the amount of people the plane holds. They sold our tickets that we already paid for, even though we arrived on time, and moved us to a flight 9 hours later. That flight was then delayed about 4 hours, so we were delayed about 13 hours. The airline did nothing to compensate us for this. We were told we would receive a free flight, and would receive an e-mail within 24 hours. When we didn't receive the e-mail, we called their customer service number, and were told that our flight 13 hours later was our free flight. I sent a complaint by e-mail, provided all of the information, and all of the additional details that they requested, and nothing. They closed the ticket without even a response. Worst experience ever!!! Unfortunately, departing from Mexico, we don't have the same protections regarding compensation for overbooked flights from the Department of Transportation, as we would have had leaving from the United States. We were hoping that leaving from Tijuana though the CBX was going to be a good option for us for the future, but never again. read more

WORST experience ever with an airline! I would not ever recommend this airline to anyone! Worst service, worst staff, worst airline! I will never fly with them again. There was nothing they could do for me other than lose my money, they waited until they could do nothing. I called a dozen time and got hung up on 5 times as I waited for the representative to respond to my request. I am absolutely disgusted by the service provided on the plane; I pushed the button to call the air host/hostess and they never acknowledged it. Walked passed me 3 times, and never said one thing to me regarding the ring. I could not believe how incredibly rude and inconsiderate they were. The worst experience anybody can have I buy a ticket for my mom at 4 in the morning l payed with my debit card and by the time that she was at the counter they told her that my bank cancelled the purcharse because the purchase was suspicious. Which it was not true because I called my bank to confirm. However more people were having the same issue at the airport. The lady on the counter was extremelly rude. I will never for this company again !!! read more

This is the worst traveler nightmare, I got the tickets with almost a month in advance, a day prior to our flight I tried to do the check in but for any reason the system didn't let me do it, it said sits will be assigned in the airport, when we arrive the day of the flight they told me that the flights was oversold when I got the tickets which is false since I have confirmation of the flight and even a group for boarding. They marked my ticket flight and told me to let the people at the boarding are that I was there, I was one of the first people in the line and handed my tickets to the attendance there, he told me he will call me, he never did, In saw other people with a mark and the ticket who were really late and they were allowed to enter in the plane. I really think I was discriminated by that attendace. At the end i couldn't take the flight, I tried to explain all this to a representative but I just lost my time trying to explain at the end I lost my flight, I lost almost 12 hours of my time that could have used really better and like $150.00 in shuttle from the airport to my hotel and some tours on cancun. Really, if you want to have the peace of mind you are reaching your destination as you planned DON'T EVEN THINK IN FLYING WITH THIS AIRLINE, saving a couple of dollars or pesos doesn't worth it. At the end the just game a meal voucher that just was for a freaking flan and a coffee! read more
