I'm a picky eater when it come to Mexican food, but I'm glad I found this place. I hate beans coz I never tasted good one until now. I love their bean and cheese dip. The chips is always fresh and crispy. I asked ! It's freshly made everyday. Overall good food and great customer service. My number one plate is pollo de la cream #33 . So if you ever in white center area. Definitely try this place out. read more

Good chips and salsa and good margarita. I'm not sure if I actually got what I ordered (2 carne asada burritos). If so they came smothered in enchilada sauce. They are fine as eaten but not what I expected. 2 stars are because I'm pretty sure the waiter added $6 to my bill between the time I handed him my credit card and when I signed the check. He discarded the original receipt, but I was distracted by my toddler and didn't realize the difference until we got home. I'd like to think it was a legit service charge, but don't see anything about service charges on their website. I hope that $6 was worth it if not legit, as I will not return, which is a pity because it's a convenient place with good maggies. read more

Yes I am a fan and have been for over ten years. It is a very casual and family friendly mexican restaurant with food that is consistent and staff that are friendly. The combo plates are well proportioned and always hot in heat and taste is always what you expect. The staff always want to make sure that you have a great experience. I've been a customer since 06. Never disappoints. Love the carne asada. Certainly the food seems fairly standard as far as Mexican fare is concerned but I love it and the staff (Joel and crew) knows my order. That's always deal maker for me... I bought a 40.00 gift certificate for a friend as she lives close to Viva Mexico restaurant, Two weeks later the manager would not honor the gift certificate as it was as he said illegible, I asked him the next day why he would not honor it because it made me look bad and embarrassed my friend, His reason was that the gift certificate should have had the purchase receipt stapled or taped to the gift certificate, what a crook, My friend said that the food was good, but her experience was embarrassing to say the least, I will never patronize them again. read more

First, I want to go over the good. The service is just phenomenal. Constantly keeping things filled, without being either overbearing or pestering. Just really, really good waiters and staff. If you have a large group, would definitely recommend it just on that. The food itself is fairly mediocre. It's standard Family Mexican fare, nothing too spicy or surprising to the taste buds. Overall, a decent experience and definitely a good choice if you have less adventurous members in your group. The salsa was the only thing I want to put as straight disappointing, and it probably knocked a star off my review all on its own. If you have standard kitchen equipment it's REALLY not hard to make a good salsa out of fresh ingredients, so when it tastes worse than salsa I'd buy canned in the store, I have to take exception. Fortunately it only seems to come with the free chips, because if it was in any other dish I'd be very sad. read more

Mediocre at best. Definitely not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Food is so bland that not even the supplied watery salsa or bottled sauces will save it. Go up the street to Taco Bell for more satisfying flavor. read more

This is our neighborhood Mexican Restaurant. When we go there we are treated like family. They always remember my husband's 'no queso' for his meals and that he likes refried beans with his chips instead of salsa. The food is very nice...have not had a bad dish ever....and did I mention...great service?!!! read more

I'm disappointed. This place was delicious 7 years ago when I used to patronize it frequently. I recently dined there again with my parents and the food hardly had flavor. Maybe the enchilada sauce is watered down for the recession but in any case, the food is blah. It is with great sadness that I say this- I will not be back. read more

This is our old standby when we can't think of where else to go. Been going so long we are old friends. Arturo (manager/owner) tries his best to keep everybody happy and the food is consistently mediocore to good. What more can you ask for in a restaurant? Unfortunately Azteca was too busy last night and some friends and I ended up here. I ordered the "Vegetarian" meal. The entire plate was blan, but the beans were the biggest culprit, having no flavor at all. The safe was mediocre. Defiantly not worth the time or money. read more

We have been eating here for more than 20 years--at least once a month. I estimate 90% or more of their customers are repeat customers. We see the same faces all the time. What better recommendation can one make than say the customers come back again and again. We recently moved ten miles away--but we'll be back. The food and service is that good. read more

Great staff, super friendly, good aesthetics but the food isn't fantastic by any means. I got the feeling this a great place to get margaritas with friends and once you are slightly drunk, eat dinner. I don't drink much these days so pickled ingredients and soft tacos that fell apart while eating were a big downer. That said if I would've gotten a ultra massive margarita and fajitas I probably would've had a much better time. Experience vs. food kinda place. read more

The food was fresh and delicious. I have had the Camerones Al Crema (Shrimp in cream sauce) and the Beef Chimichangas. Yes, I thought the plural form was a misprint on the menu for the latter, but alas, I was mistaken! What I received was 3 skinnier versions of the chimi, which I enjoyed immensely since my usual complaint is that the one chimichanga is usually filled with too much meat. My only criticism is that the first time I attended this venue, it was a busy Friday night and I was a solo diner. Once my order was taken, I was not checked on again by my server (a runner brought my food). My water glass remained un-filled after the first completion and I sucked on the melted ice for the remainder of the meal. I even had to flag my server down to get my bill so that I can escape. The second time I attended this venue, I was with a friend, and the service was much more acceptable. read more

This place caught my attention as being one of the cleanest and nicest places to eat in a run down area I was working. The area has a ton of Mexican places that will never compare to Viva Mexico. I actually drove by the place several times noticing how nice the building was in such a low income area of Seattle. As soon as I walked in I could see this place was very well kept, super clean, and very appealing inside. The Enchilada was the best veggie Enchilada I have had in years, was very impressed. When we were greeted, as soon as we walked in, the kind person offered us to sit anywhere we wanted and even allowed me to pick a seat way in the back by a window where I could see my vehicle. This immediately made my experience comfortable. The Service was top Notch from our server. CUSTOMER SERVICE was Excellent, greeted with smiles and tasty recommendations from the menu. The server who you could tell loved his job was really nice. I eventually found out toward the end of the meal why he loved his job so much, why he kept this place so nice, why the food was sooo good, The Server was actually the Owner who loves his job, and that is rare. My wife and I use to live in West Seattle and would travel regularly to White Center just to eat at Viva Mexico there. She would order the Shrimp Fajitas platter that was served sizzling on a cast iron skillet and you could smell it coming from the kitchen! I would order the Chili Relleno plate that came with rice and beans and tortillas and ever since I discovered this meal there I always want more! Love this place! The Service staff was always a wonderful Spanish gentleman who was very professional and the cook must have been a professional the way the meals came out. I can't even believe that people are only rating this restaurant a three star since our experience was always and consistently perfect and wonderful. I now live in NE Washington state and my wife and I always talk about making the trip over to the Seattle area just to eat there. Great job all at White Center Viva Mexico! Meh!! Was in last night with the wife to have some dinner. We waited for a while to be seated.( It was Cinco de Mayo so that was a little understandable.) After we were seated there was another 15-20 minutes before someone came over to take a drink order, another 15 minutes goes by before the drinks arrive, and then another 10-15 before the food order is taken. So far we have been there an hour and have just ordered our food. Ordering off of the combination menu i picked the #16, a Chalupa and Chimichanga plate with rice and beans. Food came out rather quickly but did not delight. The chalupa was filled with runny ground beef of which i would expect from a Taco Bell or another fast food place and was tasteless and runny, the rest of the Chalupa shell was filled mostly with lettuce. The Chimichanga was the size of an egg roll (smallest i have ever seen) and filled with dry shredded beef that had no flavor and left you with a dry mouth. The rice was tasteless and dry, and the chips were day old at least. Did i mention that the Grande margarita was 3/4 of a glass of sour mix with a floater of cheap tequila on top, Not very good. Although everyone was friendly and the food was priced for what we ended up receiving, I will not be back for any more. UPDATE: Last nights dinner has had me throwing up and in the bathroom with diarrhea for the last 10 hours.... Not very happy!! read more
