CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SWEET BUT THE NAILS? Staff: I had a gentleman do my nails and he was very kind and sweet. We showed him the nails we wanted and it did not look like it or do they have the gems or products for it. ( they could have just be up front and say that they don't have them instead of doing it and then changing the style) Nails: the nails looks tacky, not elegant and cheap version of the picture I showed them. See my pictures of what I wanted and what I got. The acrylic looks uneven and not smoothed out, bumpy if u see from the side angle. Cost: I would say for the quality I wouldn't pay $75 for the nails and the experience By the way, they didn't know I was Vietnamese until near the end and they were gossiping bad things about staff and management. I was looking for a more affordable nail salon. Found it and book a pedicure with them. Service: Upon entering, I was greeted with a welcome. Check in was a breeze. I booked my pedicure with Kristy and she took care of me. She was very detailed oriented and careful since I have an ingrown toenail. She had other clients and she took her time with each client. Environment: Spacious, bright and clean. Very comfortable. I liked that this salon had a wide variety of regular polishes. They also had gel polish and dipping powder. Got my nails done on a Friday, by Sunday (two days later!!) one of my fingernails had already chipped. Vivi Nails opened earlier this year. The salon is conveniently located on Rockville Pike in the same plaza as TGI Fridays and across the street from Federal Plaza. The interior is clean and brightly lit with eight comfy pedicure chairs on the left hand side and four manicure tables with two to three nail stations per table on the right. I tried making an appointment with Nathalie for my first visit since many reviews mentioned her specifically, but she was booked solid. Cindy was also mentioned positively in at least one review, so I made an appointment with her instead. Cindy greeted me warmly upon entering the salon and did an impeccable job on my nails. Cindy's pleasant demeanor and positive attitude instantly won me over. Cindy no longer works at the salon unfortunately, so my last few appointments have been with the owner Kristy and once with the male technician (more on that later). Kristy does a great job on my nails and helps me to select colors and blend them together to get the right mix when needed. She's patient and meticulous about her work. The only downside of making an appointment with Kristy is that she frequently has to stop working on your nails to answer the telephone and write down appointments in her appointment book. I usually book an appointment with Kristy during non-peak hours to minimize these interruptions. The salon offers a wide variety of nail polish colors from known brands like OPI and Essie and I enjoy choosing a different color each time I get my nails done. The salon takes walk-ins but I highly recommend making an appointment to ensure you can be seen by your preferred technician without having to wait. Some technicians at this salon are better than others. My friend gets her nails done by Hannah and her nails always look great, so I may switch to Hannah for my next appointment. I would strongly advise you to avoid getting your nails done by the guy who sits at the first table next to Kristy. I made the mistake of walking in one day and getting my nails done by him. He did a horrible job on my SNS nails! The polish was lumpy and started chipping within a week. I observed him performing a manicure on another lady during a different visit and he did a sloppy polish job on her nails. This salon allows you to pay via credit card, but tips are requested in cash. This is a great place to get your nails done; just remember to make an appointment so that you can be paired with one of the better nail technicians! read more

I recently moved and needed a new nail salon. I am so happy I found ViVi Nails! My mother and I went on a mother-daughter date today, and this place made it so much more special. I called two days in advance for a reservation and was able to get one very quickly. They were very pleasant on the phone and even remembered our reservation when we came in. When you come in, they ask you to hang sanitize before touching the nail polish wall (I think this is incredibly smart). Nice polish collection to chose from. Tin was my nail aesthetician and Linda helped my mom. Both were incredibly nice and I will be specifically asking for either one in the future! I have NEVER had such a well done manicure and pedicure. My cuticles looked great and he took extra time to line up my polish. I highly recommend this place! read more

I was in the area and in need of a new SNS set bad! My yelpers did not disappoint with their reviews of ViVi nails. I called to make an 11 a.m. appointment for today (Sunday) and asked for Natalie because her name kept being mentioned in the reviews...so why wouldn't I try to ensure my first experience is with a highly recommended nail tech ‍. Unfortunately Natalie doesn't work on Sundays so when I asked for anyone who does SNS the person over the phone says "everyone here can do it." Ok...why not...we'll see! I was delayed to the shop, arriving around 11:15 a.m. when I walked in, however I was immediately seen to start the soak process. About 15 minutes later (after the nail tech, Chrissy, was done with her pedicure client) she came right over and began on my nails. When I asked her name I did become a little nervous based on a review I read that said Chrissy was constantly stopping due to her multitasking. But those nerves quickly subsided because Chrissy was all about my service...until half way through. Then that's when it began...other techs were asking her questions that I guess required her to stop and attend to them, to include her answering calls and booking appointments. Slightly annoying but ah well. Her SNS nail service and shaping is good...she definitely knows what she's doing...she didn't rush and did apologize each time she stopped. I was a little disappointed that I was not offered a beverage that they claim to provide based on their website. I understand that it was still morning, but I would have enjoyed a glass of wine (or tea or water...wait let's be honest...wine was right the first time) as I usually do during these types of services. I wanted to try something new and came here to get an ombré nail design. After discussing with the manicurist, we decided to do acrylic. Unfortunately the base started to come up quickly after a week. I came back to complain and the manager was SO sweet. She said sometime acrylic doesn't stay well if your nails get oily easily. She re-did the ombré nails (this time using dip) and said hopefully it will stay better with this method instead. She spent 1.5 hours and didn't charge me a thing to fix it. This day and age with inflation and restaurants charging random covid fees to dine in, I was pleasantly surprised she didn't charge me. Would def come in again. I've been going to Vivi Nails for the better part of a year, and though there were a few technicians who didn't meet scratch, they're no longer there. This place has the long sought-after thing called "Quality Control," which is slowly being eroded in other places and industries. I saw Ms. Jean and she handled everything with aplomb, as always. That woman is *meticulous*, I tell you. Every fingernail is compared to its mate at every stage, and once she knew I wanted a sparkly tip, she recommended a far superior finish. She also remembers her repeat customers. I *always* want my nails short and rounded, so when I rolled up, she didn't waste time. She KNEW what I would want, anticipated it, and started cutting down accordingly. This salon is clean, lovely, and thorough. They don't skip steps. If you're in the area (or have access to the Twinbrook Metro), I cannot recommend them more. Five solid stars. read more

Dip powder was just how i wanted after several try. Called in same day in fact 15 min earlier and was seen right away after i arrived. My nail tech was Hannah. She did fantastic job on my nails. I picked the color and i told her how i like my nails she then proceeded. Her filing technique was good( i have been to several nail salons in Rockville Gallery, nails by sean, polish nail, nail club) her attention to detail was great. Throughout the process she barely spoke to me not a big deal since she had a mask. What annoyed me was she was talking to other bail tech next to her the whole time and giggling and smiling as if they were talking about me or other clients. Owner should acknowledge this activities. Salon was pretty clean and all the nail techs were occupied. Paid $40 for my dip powder aka SNS nails. They don't do tips in credit/debit card only cash. Thats annoying. I went to the bank extra time there. They should at least do Venmo since i am a cosmetologist i know when clients are made to do extra mile work. I was happy with my nail service. They sat us all at 5:15 and started two, and didn't start the last person until 6:23. They said nothing and did nothing to help. The customer service is horrible. One of the person doing the nails kept coughing and sneezing without covering their mouth, they would wipe their nose on their arm and not wash their hands. It was disgusting and an horrible experience. They will not paint your full nail, you have to request multiple times to go back and repaint the nail. I asked to have my nails shorten and he made them all uneven . I asked to have it filed multiple times and the nails are still uneven. This was the worst experience. Nathalie gives me exactly what I ask for every time and she's patient with me when I change my colors 4x because I can't decide. Unlike other reviewers, I will not be returning to ViVi nails for any service. I needed a pedicure desperately and based on other reviews, I tried calling for an appointment. It was Mother's Day weekend so I thought it would be difficult to get in, but Christy (manager?) answered the phone and booked me 2 pedicures for my mom and me. I arrived on time to my appointment with my mom and we picked out our colors, but clearly they overbook or accepted too many walk-ins. One of the technicians was voicing her frustration/concern about having too many clients at that time towards Christy who retaliated with a condescending comment towards her. Being openly rude to your staff in front of customers is unacceptable. Apparently, Christy was the only one available to do my pedicure. As she worked on my toes, my mom waited in her chair with her feet soaking in lukewarm water. No technician was available by the time I was done with my pedicure to assist my mom. Waiting 30 minutes after having an appointment is unacceptable. There was no apology or reasoning from Christy or any other staff member on the delay/inconvenience. My mom refused to waste any more time and never got her pedicure. Service was terrible throughout my pedicure. Christy was constantly pausing to answer the phones and walk away to do something else. She never spoke to me as she was working on my pedicure. Instead she was speaking extremely loudly to one colleague in their native language. Christy scrubbed my legs with all her might that it was more painful than relaxing. I also ended up getting a rash on my leg after getting this pedicure. Unfortunately, I did not experience the service that others have claimed to receive. I will not be returning to this facility again. read more

My gel mani/pedi turned out really well and I'm satisfied with the quality of my experience. I love ViVi Nails! My nail person, who is the BEST manicurist ever (Nathalie), started working here and it's just a beautiful and calming place. It's in the shopping plaza with Pier 1 imports (it's next door). Nathalie is the best manicurist I've ever had. I used to do regular manis, then switched to gel, and now she does SNS on my nails which makes them grow so long and stay strong. Nathalie also does really pretty designs and knows how to keep it sophisticated enough for work with just a hint of sassiness too. She can do any design really, but that's my preference. Anyway, when you walk in, they have the very nice leather pedicure chairs (probably about 8-10 in a row), so it's great to go with your girlfriends and sit together. Pedicure was decent at best and while doing my SNS she broke more than half off my nail off and had to put an acrylic tip, so that I wouldn't have to cut my other nails down too short. She then cut me and didn't apologize. Also throughout my entire visit she was on a FaceTime call. If it weren't for that, maybe she wouldn't have made so many mistakes. Incredibly unprofessional and she did not offer me a discount for her terrible job. Also, on some nails the powder does not cover entirely and you can see my actual nail. This review is specifically on my personal experience with Jenny. She has been my nail tech (SNS), brow/lip wax, and sometimes pedicure since the summer. If for any reason I have no choice but to go somewhere else and get my mani/pedi, I always regret it because I am never nearly as happy as when I go see Jenny. I love the way she does my nails, and I always get compliments on them and on my brows. She leaves my nails looking thin and shaped so nicely and very natural in my opinion plus she always does her best to get my nails looking as close to the Pinterest photos I show her! I think they did a decent job trying to replicate what I wanted for my fingernails but what I'm upset with is that I got knicked twice and bled from both places and she didn't acknowledge it at all and continued, hurting the wounds even more. My pedicure is once again decent but my big toe is cut diagonally and the lady who did them picked at my cuticles too much and definitely opened a wound down there too.
