    Pork noodle bowl. $13.95
    Frank L.

Alrighty...! It's been ten years since I last ate here and left a review lol oh how times have changed but surprisingly this place has stood the test of time... Many restaurants have come n go in that plaza I can attest to that. Okkk so I gave em a pretty crap review in 2014. I think from memory they more or less taste the same but there's diff circumstances in play now. Particularly value... My main complaint before was that at traditional Viet restos it basically cost the same for the comparable dish except in fact you get more cause you get the other trad toppings like the egg roll, shredded pork skin, egg loaf etc... But now vn grill is about a solid 1-3 bux less so the pricing makes more sense now especially if you don't need any of the other frills and just want basic bowl of carb, meat, veggies. I will say I don't think the pork tastes as good as in some traditional restaurants maybe cause it's made to order so the protein is still hot but it's still solid. Overall, had a solid experience. I feel like the restaurant provides solid value now. Also, I think if they were smart they should have an option for extra protein at like $3.5 or allow half n half bowls like chipotle. Would be cool to update the sauces as well I don't think they've changed since 2014

Same taste even after 10years! Thoroughly enjoyed my tofu bowl, so flavorful!Everything seems very fresh. Exactly like the owner describes the dishes as traditionally modern!

Always get the shrimp and pork bowl with the VN sauce! A healthy and tasty option to get in the bay area! Good for takeout!

Thank you Ann for showing me the kids sized bowls!

Get food that's super fast and easy to to-go I love how they have a small menu and it's super fast to pick out what you don't and do want.

Okay, I remember liking this place, but I don't super remember why, and alarmingly, it's not because I was 34 beers deep :-O This is indeed alarming - why would I be out and about and not 34 beers deep...? Let us get to the bottom of this! Now, I remember this being a weekday, because I was dressed appropriately enough for people to think that I was employed. It's not my fault that looking homeless also means living in comfort. My loss - all the more suits and ties for you bozos! Now, this doesn't disqualify the beers, because working WUI is really the only way to get through work. Man, remember the days when we were all working remotely and we weren't turning on our cameras?! Wooooowiiiieee!! Um, anway, I think the food was pretty good. Probably be back, cuz it's right across from my place and I am laaaazzzzyyyyyyy.

Yes, I came back to Vn Grill. Their bowls are so tasty but I probably like the pork one the best now! The restaurant is very clean and the food comes out fast. There's enough for me to have a small lunch the next day as well!

Parking here can be challenging since it's located in a plaza with City Sports. If you're looking for a quick meal, this place is like a Vietnamese version of Chipotle. You customize your bowl to your liking. You choose your base, protein, veggies and finish it off with sauce. The order was quick and easy. I went with the rice noodles, beef, all the vegetables and the VN sauce and lime soy vinaigrette. The ingredients were fresh and tasty.

Came here for lunch. Good spot to have lunch a bit pricey. A meal and a drink around $20 per person. You can create your own bowl. Which is nice. Small dining area, lot of parking outside.

This place is like a Viet Chipotle. Great for light meals and the portion is generous so you can save some for later. You build your own bowl with choice of base, meat, veggies, and sauce. I got the rice noodle bowl with pork and all the veggies except jalapeño and vn fish sauce. I love the flavor and texture of the grilled pork and the sauce goes great with the rice noodles. I also got their shrimp rolls and they were alright. A bit too much veggies inside for my liking and I thought the shrimp was kinda small.

The spring rolls should be an example of how it truly should be. So fresh and equal amounts of veggies noodles and your choice of protein . Everything was so good and fresh . The fries were so delicious that umami flavors .

I stopped in for lunch and order a pork noodle bowl with a side of shrimp spring rolls. All the ingredients were so fresh and tasty! Food came out extremely quickly and service was great :)

It's like Vietnamese fast food but tasty and fresh! Order your selection and seat yourself. I got the lemongrass chicken which was cooked perfectly and not overly salted. It was interesting to have this with brown rice as I'm used to eating it with rice noodles. Reminds me of like a Vietnamese chipotle and I wish there were more of these! Food came out fast and ingredients tasted fresh. One restroom for customers, self service water. Lots of tables.

Really liked their food especially the bowls and the option to choose what goes in it, but sadly they are closing their doors permanently :(

The ambience definitely creates a nice mood for dining. Since I was there to eat--not to celebrate anything and not particularly concerned about the cuteness--I paid more attention to other things: the spacing between tables, which felt a little too tight and close together; the service; the seating; and, most importantly, the food quality. The staff were very attentive and gracious throughout our visit. The Korean Pork Cutlet was juicy and delicious. It was a generous portion--easily enough for two people. It came with a delicious corn soup, potato salad, and several condiments. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the American Wagyu Steak with Cheese Dip. I ordered it medium, but the meat was so tough it was like chewing leather. Definitely not what I expected from a Wagyu steak. Would I go back? Probably not for a while, unless I was looking for a place with a fun atmosphere for a celebration. For me, good food comes first, and unfortunately, the steak experience left me questioning the quality of their other beef dishes. And I'm a beef eater!

It is next to the Hui Lau Shan, which is great when we want dessert after This restaurant is very unique, as most of the dishes main component is mushrooms, which provide a different umami taste than regular dishes. We have tried the crispy silkworms, tom yum fried chicken, beef noodle soup, mushroom hot pot, chicken liver pate and yao tiao, laksa fried rice, stir fry cheung fun, wild mushroom conserva. Out of everything, I definitely recommend the tom yum fried chicken, mushroom hot pot and the laksa fried rice! Although the fried chicken doesn't have tom yum flavor, they fry the chicken very well, and the tom yum dipping sauce is on pointtt. The mushroom hot pot is definitely a favorite of mine. They give a lot of food -- it is warm, comforting. The broth also has a lot of flavor as well. The fried rice is definitely a top fave. They do a wonderful job incorporating the wok hei, which not a lot of restaurants can do. It is very present throughout the rice, and elevates the rice past the laksa flavor. The pineapple was a great touch and give it a hint of sweetness. I would pass on the wild mushroom conservative. It feels like they just stirfry it in butter, and that was it. I like the silkworm, but I know it's not for everyone. It is crunchy and it tastes kind of like peanut butter LOL. it is a great appetizer. I'm glad this place offers it. I think I've gotten a couple drinks -- alcoholic, and non-alcoholic. Also one of their ice creams. They didn't really leave a standout impression on me but still good to try!

Final Thoughts: 4.33/5…read more They were our caterer for a work party. This is a food truck and they seem to have everything ready to be served to us. Asian fusion foods are typically my go-to choice and so I was very excited that they were providing us food today. Food: Garlic Fried Chicken Bowl: 4.3/5 The sauce on this is divine with the chicken. It's like an unagi sauce with garlic in it. It has some saltiness, sweetness, and that umami flavor. Garlic taste and scent is present, but not too overpowering, which I really enjoyed. That flavor is great, but some places really overdo it for me. Just a personal preference though. For the chicken itself, it's very tender and juicy on the inside and still has some of that nice crunch on the outside. Perhaps this is because the cut of meat is the chicken thigh. It's not super crispy because I don't believe this is being fried to order for us. Seems to be food held in a warmer until its ordered. Kimchi was the side that they had provided with this dish and I am here for that. Some people aren't the biggest fan of this and I saw that from the looks my coworkers gave it. Personally, very much enjoyed it though. That sourness and spice from the kimchi just balances out this bowl really well. The veggies are nice and crispy. Gives it that freshness. Also, very slight detail and addition, but I always enjoy the sesame seeds and furikake sprinkle as a garnish. There's a nice nuttiness to it that they provide as a simple garnish. Spicy Tuna Poké: 4.0/5 This item was alright. The flavor was also really good, but I did get tired of eating just one type of poke protein. Typically when I go to get poke, it's 2 to 3 scoops of different proteins with various sauces to change up the flavor. I did get tired of this one after a few bites. The flavor of this item was very good though. There's a nice kick from it and the flavor tastes like a mix of kewpie mayo, soy sauce, sriracha, and sugar. Very simple, but you can't go wrong with those flavors. For the side, they added seaweed salad. Again, not your average side dish. Personally, I enjoyed it, but it might not be a common or familiar side dish for other individuals. It has a nice sweetness and nuttiness to it. For texture, there's a nice bite to it, which is ncie since the tuna is very soft and doesn't contribute much to the texture component. Menu: Small Their menu seems quite limited, but again, that is normal for a food truck, I believe. The items they provide do it just fine for me. I appreciate that they also have an option for the vegetarians. The menu we were provided was limited to 4 items, which is fine since the scale of this party wasn't anything too wild and we were able to satisfy everyone with what they provided. --------- Quality: Alright The quality of the food seems OK. It came out within a few minutes for us and I don't think it takes just a few minutes to fry that piece of chicken. I could be wrong though, so no one quote me on that. Just an observation. Not the highest expectations because their limited to the space and area in general. The product they provide is very good though. Overall, for something that has raw seafood in it, it seemed quite fresh and tasty. The items aren't made to order either and it's more assemble and serve to order, but again, they seem to be making it work with the product that they are selling. Price: Estimated Because this was a catering event, I am actually unaware of how much my administrator paid for the food. What I know is that she paid for a certain amount of bowls. From the looks of this item though, I want to estimate the price of each bowl being around $16 to $20 depending on the food item provided. Seems quite average for a bowl of food these days. Service: Quick and fast Because most of the food is already prepared and ready, the interaction with them itself is very limited. They took our order and provided us with the food. Nothing too significant to note and that is to be expected with the food truck. They were very sweet though and explained the menu items to be when I had a question. Ambiance: Simple and cute food truck The design on their food truck is so cute. The riceball is my favorite because it has this very cute face and just looks darling to me. The outside has a simple design with the name and logo on top and then perhaps some of the food items they provide written on the bottom section of the truck. Doesn't seem like anything too fancy, but simplicity is best for me. Location/Parking: Wherever they travel and navigate to Because they're a food truck, they can drive to you, which is really convenient. On Yelp, it states that their located on 36 Commercial Street in downtown, which might be where their truck is serving most of the time. Again, it is a food truck though, so they have the ability to drive to you and travel around to their customers, which is quite convenient is reaching a broader group of people.

The dishes were well-prepared, flavorful, and thoughtfully presented. The overall ambiance was also enjoyable, making it a nice spot for a dinner out. Unfortunately, the experience took a concerning turn at the end of the meal. Our bill came out to $86.42, and I handed my credit card to the waiter. Within seconds (thanks to my card alerts), I received a notification that $103.92 had been charged. When the waiter returned with the receipt, there was no mention of any discrepancy. After waiting a few minutes to see if it would be addressed, I brought it up myself. The waiter appeared flustered and then claimed he had accidentally charged me for someone else's food. That explanation didn't align with the itemized bill I was given, which made the situation feel questionable. He assured me that it would be corrected and that I should see the adjustment in a few days, which I'll be watching closely. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of transparency and the fact that it wasn't proactively disclosed is what left a bad impression. Being overcharged without explanation -- and having to catch it myself -- is not something I expect when dining out. I'd consider coming back for the food, but I'd definitely be more cautious when it comes to the bill.

They had happy hour going on until 9pm(!!!) crazy, I know. The happy hour menu featured a few cocktails, beer, and mocktails for $9, and starters for 20% off. They were also able to substitute the liquors in the happy hour drinks for something else, which was huge for me since I'm not a fan of too many liquors. Originally we had opted to go to a vegetarian restaurant but they stopped selling food at a certain time and we were hungry. We kept walking and stumbled upon Nomikai. We entered around 9pm and was seated immediately. The food closed soon and we got our order in during happy hour. We were impressed. The service was absolutely amazing and staff / patrons enjoyed our fit. The cocktails are beautifully crafted. Delicious yummy! As a cocktail enthusiast I had no complaints just keep them coming! The dude enjoyed his cocktail as well. We didn't drive so we overindulge because we can! At a certain point this establishment turns into a club more than restaurant and the line was out the door by 11pm. We did try the Brussel sprouts which was delicious and wished we would have tried more food but we were stuffed. They had great music, loved the decor and glad we stumbled upon this place! Can't wait to come back!
