Taking a car in for service is never an enjoyable experience but the Service Advisors at Volkswagen of Pasadena help make it as enjoyable as possible. Today I dropped off my car for a diagnostic check up. My 2011 Jetta TDI suddenly stopped running at 49,000 miles. I had to have it towed to the local shop who diagnosed it with a fuel pump failure. I called VW and they told me that the repair may be covered even though my warranty expired at 30,000 miles. Matt, the service representative was easy to work with. Within a few hours he presented the issue to corporate VW and found out that the entire repair would be taken care of ( $6000 value). I was even reimbursed for 2 days of car rental. read more

First, let me say that my experience with the Service Department was great. I had a 2012 Beetle and came in for the first time to get my 30,000 mile service. The service guys got me in and out in 45 minutes (compared to 1.5 hours at the Glendale VW) and the staff were helpful and pleasant. In fact, when I decided to get a new car, I went back to the Pasadena dealer partly because my experience with the Service team had been so good. Unfortunately, (and the reason I'm giving the dealership 2 stars) the Sales team was terrible! I was looking at the 2015 Jetta Hybrid, which is around $31k MSRP on the VW website. Pasadena had the same car at $35k and the young sales guy flat out admitted it was an unreasonable mark-up. He said that there weren't many of those models in SoCal, so the dealerships could get more for the cars. I understand the concept of supply and demand, but VW Van Nuys had the exact same car for $30k. When I tried to negotiate the price, the junior sales guy got his manager, who was very vague and just kept asking how much I wanted to pay monthly. I told him I was more concerned with the total price of the car. He told me the "very best" they could do for me was MSRP and seemed disinclined to negotiate any further. (Has anyone ever paid MSRP for a car?) We started talking about a different car and he went to check my credit (which is great). After 15-20 minutes, he came back saying that he hadn't been able to check my credit yet in order to get hard numbers for me. At that point, I smiled politely and left. The next weekend, I got a much better deal at the Van Nuys VW. Sorry, VW Pasadena, you just lost a customer. read more

This is my first review ever, and it's mainly because I feel quality work and outstanding customer service should be recognized. I bought my 2015 GTI in San Diego but moved to Glendale and have been bringing it to Pasadena VW for general maintenance and whenever any check engine lights have come on. There are a few VW dealers closer to me but like a doctor, dentist or barber... Once you find a good one, it's hard to leave them even if it's further away. My first time there I was helped by Wendy. She was so helpful and nice. Probably the main reason I came back to them. The next couple of times I brought in my car Claire helped me out. She's the best. She was super helpful, knowledgeable and professional. She sent me constant updates on my vehicle and answered any questions I had. Finally, just today I took my car in for a check engine light. Norman helped me out. Again, like everyone else... Very helpful, professional and great to work with. Having to take your car into the dealer for any kind of service is never fun, but VW Pasadena go above and beyond to make the experience as pleasant as possible. I will keep bringing my car to them for as long as I own it or until I move away from LA. Keep up the good work. read more

We came in to see about trading our VW Beetle for a newer car that would lower our monthly payments. Upon arrival we were immediately welcomed by sales representative Kevin Chu. We told him we would like to look at Jettas and about our desire to trade our car and lower payments. Kevin showed us many Jettas, explaining the attributes of each. He was knowledgable about the cars on the lot, answering all of our questions with ease. When we picked the one we liked best he allowed both my husband and I to take her for a test drive. Amongst the many things I found extremely positive about my experience at VW Pasadena are the fact that Kevin really listened to what we wanted; he never pushed or went into an aggressive selling mode; the entire procedure went extremely smoothly and rather quickly. I purchased a 2013 Passat three months ago and have only actually driven it for a month and a half. In that time repairs have had to be made due to damage caused by rats at my residence according to the dealership. I had to reluctantly involve my insurance company. The dealership had my vehicle for four weeks for repairs only for me to take it to get washed and flooded due their incompetence. They neglected to replace one of the plugs on the floorboard which caused them to keep it for another week. I am not criticizing Volkswagon itself only the poor customer service at this dealership by the service manager and broken promises. read more

She has signifigant credit and income issues, but andres and paul there were very nice and patient, answering all of her questions amd being as gentle as possible about her situation. I hope all future recruits get mentored by these guys. Absolute masters of their trade. Fantastic communication, empathy and understanding, speed, and always deliver consistently. We started with Claire a few years ago and Wendy has been our rep for the past 12 months or so. Both incredible reps that make us want to stick with VW for life. However, Karl Z has been very responsive to my concerns... just the fact that he is also the manager at VW Alhambra, and has brought over the Service Manager from there as well makes me very hopeful! This is THE BEST Volkswagen dealership honestly. I had a small issue with my VW Passat that i've been trying to fix in a couple of different dealerships. They all told me that this was "MY PROBLEM" and that i would have to go fix it myself. However, in this VW dealership, they didn't just fix my car, they gave me a loaner car cuz it would take 1 day to fix it. The service department is really nice and friendly! I took my VW in as there was a warning light on they came back with a repair estimate of $2600.00. There were at least two problems with the car. I said no as that was a lot of money. They called back a little later and said because I was such a good customer they would reduce the repair price by a significant amount. It was still more than I wanted to pay without getting a second opinion. I had read online that one should turn off the warning light (which I was able to do myself) and then start the car up again. If the warning light came on again, it needed fixing. If it didn't, it was fine. Well, the warning light didn't come back on, and the car has been running just fine. Saved myself a lot of money. They are very nice people in the service department. But, it seems somewhere along the line, someone decided to charge me for something that didn't need fixing. Be careful negotiating with this dealer; I was blind sided by the finance manager and the sales manager. The deal I negotiated was not the deal I ended up signing and didn't catch how the payoff for the trade was shuffled into my loan until later. They are friendly on the surface but not honest. I tried resolving the issue in person multiple times but all I kept getting were spins of the truth.... tough luck. I requested to review the original offer sheet but they said it was already sent to the banks. Even the original sales person who sat in on the negotiations admitted to the wrong doing. My first purchase years ago was excellent but this experience guarantees that I, family, friends will never buy another car from them. read more

We were searching for a nice car like a jetta or passat for us and our 18 month old. The we found out we were pregnant. . .with twins. Bye bye Jetta hello mini van. We are NOT mini van lovers, but after research and test drives we found the Routan is amazing. We were looking for an SE with rear entertainment but had a budget. after a few no slaes at other dealerships, we started calling out of OC to pasadena, San Diego, Long Beach. I talked to Peter in Fleet about the used Routan they had. I told him our budget, and we don't have much room for haggling from that, and that we didn't want to drive up 35 miles if our prices were far apart. He quoted me their best out the door price and we decided that after the other dealerships couldn't come close to that price we went to check it out. We agreed on a price and the whole thing was actually pleasent for me and my pregnant wife. They took care of us from start to finish and we were very satisfied with their service from start to finish. To top it all of the Used certified VW's have a TWO year bumper to bumper on their vehicles, and thats after the original 3 yr 36k warranty expires. so we have 4 yrs of warranty for our Routan. This dealer is GREAT!!! I just recently brought in my Beetle for oil change and they did a great job. They noticed that my speakers had a crackling sound to it that I haven't even noticed at first so they offered to replace it before the warranty expires (which is soon) - without me asking - now that's service! I have been going to this dealership for years now. I have an older Jetta which, as any old car has its own share of problems. They have done all kinds of repair and maintenance service to it and I have not been dissapointed with this dealership yet.. They always have my car ready on time and they wash it, too. I'd give it a 4+ for service but a 1 for sales. I tried trading in a car there and they quoted me some pretty outrageously high numbers for a lease, even though the VW web site explicitly quotes much lower numbers and they had sent me a special offer of early lease trade-in by mail along with a $1,000 coupon. The mailer was just to entice me to come in and they pretty much ignored it once I was there. Typical shady car dealership games trying to get me to overpay with their bait and switch and back and forth games! I caught the salesman lying several times. They must think people don't research or shop around! On top of that, many of their cars carry a "market adjustment" of several thousand dollars over MSRP which other dealers don't charge on the same models. When I walked out and was driving away, the sales guy (Gino) offered me a much more reasonable deal so I went back in only to find out it was for a different car than the one that I was interested in - bait and switch again. I waited nearly 20 minutes for him to talk to the finance guy once again and came back with another absurd offer -- I walked out for a final time. These guys are looking to rake people over the coals and are preying on people who don't shop around. Wouldn't buy a car from these clowns but service (as long as you're under warranty) has been great. read more

I bought both my first and second cars at VW Pasadena. In the used car market, they collect the competitive cars with very nice condition. I bought my first car, a white beetle, at the beginning of 2015. All my friends thought that I bought a new one because it looked exactly this way. And I bought my second car, a silver beetle, in October because my old white was tolled out in an accident. In the accident, I didn't get injured thanks to my car. I went to nearly all VW dealers in LA and finally bought my new car at VW Pasadena again, although I live much closer to Santa Monica. Andrew from VW Pasadena is a nice and warm guy who helped me try the car and answered my questions with showing my all supporting documents. After knowing I need drive on high way daily, he provided me to test drive on the high way nearby. He checked back with my several times with patience but never pushed. And he understood my concern and finally provided my a very reasonable price. It is really rare that I bought my two cars at the same dealer in one year. I did so because they have the best cars to choose in the market with nice service and helpful people like Andrew. The finance manager is nice too that he explained they change the form of the contract and pointed out the difference for me, which I feel really warm and helpful. And now I already drive my new car for almost two months. It works as well as my old one. If you are interested in having a VW car, I recommend to call Andrew at VW Pasadena. read more
