Had a great experience buying my 2016 GLI SEL from VW Pasadena. Originally went to see a CPO SE but ended up deciding on a new one in the higher trim. Other dealerships had the same car but after several test drives with Mike, the internet sales manager, I wanted to give him my business. He earned my respect with his lengthy military service and his total knowledge of the vehicle. He was able to answer every question I had and I really believe he could take the car apart and put it back together again. Doing the deal was painless and I wasn't pressured to buy a long-term service contract. And they were willing to take a personal check! Before I drove off Mike gave me an in-depth overview of how to work all the functions and said to call if I had any questions. This review pertain to Tom Andrews at the Service Center. If I had to review the VW automaker, there would be certainly less stars lighting up in my review. With all the recalls and the numerous Civil law suits gripping the company, it goes without saying that the presure of dealing with the unhappy consumers trickles down to the dealerships and their staff members across the globe. This is where employees like Tom Andrews step in to balance their royalty to the company as well as their commitment to help the customers. I have had many issues with my car to the point that I have decided to never purchase another VW vehicle. Having said that, every time I have taken my car to Pasadena VW service, Mr Andrews has gone way beyond his line of duties to assist me with my concerns. I rarely encounter people who enjoy their job but I have come to the conclusion that Mr Andrews genuinely is there to support and help the customers in dealing with their car issues. I just bought a 2018 Tiguan. Today, 3/20 at 9:30a.m. I stopped by the Parts Dept to buy accessories and was just browsing the lot since my friend liked my Tiguan and was also interested in purchasing. A young, very polite, salesman greets me right away, I think his name was Haig, but not sure, and since I had a question regarding the third row seat, he takes me to the showroom. I wanted to put a car-seat in the third row, and Haig asks an older salesman (I didn't catch his name, but he was probably late 50's-60's, and the way he acted, seemed like a Manager) for help. He tells me (quite rudely) that it's illegal to put a car-seat in the third row. So I comment that I wish I had bought an Atlas. So I asked him, "it's illegal to have carseats in the Atlas too", and he says YES. The younger salesman was witnessing all this, and I think he had a disbelief look on his face on how rude the older gentleman was. I wish I had known this before I purchased my Tiguan. I was with my kids when we were buying the car, and I told the salesman that the kids were excited to sit in the third row. The salesman did not disclose such information regarding the legality of car-seats in the third row. So, I informed the older gentleman that I just bought a Tiguan, and now I'm probably going to return it. He responds, "that's fine", and walks away. I thank Haig for his help, and I leave. I will be in the process of returning my Tiguan, and just in case anyone else is in the market for a car and want to put a car-seat in the third row, do not buy a Tiguan or an Atlas. read more

My experience was terrible. I waited in the lobby for 6 hours for them to LOOK at my vehicle. They charged me $200 for this. Then they recommended $995.00 in repairs...completely missing in their assessment that a headlight was out on my vehicle. I will never go there again. read more

I am from Adrian Georgia. I was in Pasadena on business and my car broke down. I had my car towed on a Thursday night to Volkswagen of Pasadena. The service writer came in that evening to pick up his phone. He went ahead and wrote me up and put me in service. They worked on my car for a few hours the next morning found out the problem contacted Volkswagen had the part flown in overnight . Gave me a loaner car had a mechanic come in on Saturday and had my car running the next day. I've never been to a dealership so accommodating and caring of the customer. They did all they could to make me happy. I realize that when your car breaks down it is not a happy time. This dealership understands how you feel and does all they can to make the experience a bearable one. I give this dealership the highest rating that I could possibly give. This place is fantastic! I bought a car from this dealership for my daughter (her first) a year and half ago. I got a good price and excellent service. I wanted it to be an enjoyable experience, and it exceeded my expectations. Fast forward: The car is now out-of-state and needs some minor follow-up work and inspections after being rear-ended at a stop light. There was an issue with getting this done, so I called VW Pasadena to see if they could help. Sure enough, they jumped right in and sent me some critical information I needed. This review is for the salesperson, Eric. Let me say that I usually HATE going to car dealerships for all the usual reasons. However, I did have a positive experience this time. I went to test drive a GTI and I was not in the market to buy. Eric was the associate assigned to me. I found Eric to be knowledgeable and honest. If he didn't have the answer to my question, he wrote down the question to get an answer. Eric was not the tough sell. He knew that I just wanted to experience the car and he let me do just that. He let me drive a stick and auto for comparison. He did have me speak with his manager before I left and the manager also understood that I needed to experience the car and was not interested in obtaining the car at that time. So, the manager did not push very hard either. So, all in all, good experience. If I decide to obtain a GTI Eric and Volkswagen Pasadena is on the short list of dealerships. read more

Perhaps this is a common story for those who have gone car shopping, but if we consumers keep reviewing this kind of "service," perhaps someday the auto industry will shape up. My husband and I went to Pasadena VW to check out the Jetta. We met a very friendly salesman who patiently showed us the car, answered our questions, took us on a test drive. We discussed leasing vs. buying and he offered us a lease deal that seemed too good to be true. So we returned home to consider it. I called him the next day and asked if he would be willing to go over to the last detail the costs involved, with the knowledge that we were not going to commit on the spot, but would let him know the very next day. He said sure, come on over. He carefully wrote out all the details, enthusiastically circling final numbers that showed us what a great deal leasing was vs. buying new or buying used. We had a final number and went home very excited, praising our salesman's clarity, patience, knowledge, and friendliness. We made an appointment the next day with his business partner as our salesman was not working that day (and we had to go that day). We walked in, met the partner, and asked a few final questions. Within 5 minutes, the partner said that we had the wrong final number, that the final price was actually $2500 more than our salesman said. The partner said our salesman had been wrong, that he didn't manage the financial side of things, that he didn't know what he was talking about. This is hogwash. Our salesman has sold/leased lots of cars before. He knew. It's a game. The friendly salesman gets you all excited about your new car, ropes you in, then hands you off to the financial guy just when they think you are in so deep that you will accept the sudden price change at the last minute, since you have put so much time into it already. Well, I'm sorry we had put so much time into it. I'm sorry we trusted our salesman. I'm sorry he lied to us. I'm sorry he seemed like such a nice guy. I am sorry we do not have our new Jetta. I am proud that we walked away from that dealership so fast that we will never go back. read more

So freakin grossed out from the guy in the service department. I've had a great experience at the service department at this dealership until I talked to this middle aged man with blue eyes. He tried to rip me off off of 2nd time maintenance a few months ago. Today I walked in again. I wanted to talk to Claire but she was busy so I had to talk to him instead. I really didn't want to deal with him but had no choice. Asked if I could check tires since tire sign was on. Also check engine light. He says "to go over your tires, we charge $65. To check engine light, we charge $165" I was so fxxxkin grossed out, walked away without saying anything. Came to Volkswagen Alhambra. I'm being told that "your car is under warranty. We will check your engine and adjust your tire pressure all for absolute free of charge" I told them about my experience at Volkswagen Pasadena and they couldn't believe it. Here I am sitting here writing this as my car is being checked at Volkswagen Alhambra knowing I will never return to Volkswagen Pasadena again. Talked to him on the phone while back too. Very unpleasant experience at Pasadena location unfortunately. As long as he is working there, I will never return. Can still hear the tone of his nasty voice "Okie Dokie" when I confronted that the price he was quoting was wrong and my car is under warranty and I wasn't supposed to get charged for it. Kevin and Andy made my experience at Volkswagen Pasadena very satisfying. This was my first time getting a VW. Previously, I was driving a BMW 4 series Gran Coupe, but wanted a more comfortable drive with a sensible price. I leased a blue 2018 SE Tiguan and absolutely love it. It drives like a bullet and the Apple interface is very friendly. Kevin helped me find a Tiguan with my exact specifications and we were able to negotiate a very fair price; quickly, swiftly and smoothly. Very nice guy and super accommodating. Andy introduced me to all the options within the car before I took it off the lot. This guy really knows his VWs and is just a delightful person. He synced my phone, taught me how to navigate through all the Apple Play options, and showed me how to work the optional third row seating. If you're looking for a mid size SUV, check the 2018 Tiguan out. Definitely ask for Kevin or Andy for a full service experience! read more

I have been with VW for about 3 years now. I was and still am in need of a new battery. Excited to hear that I have warranty on that, I rushed to VW only to be confronted by a rude man who told me service was closed and they could not do ANYTHING in their power to 1. turn on my car, 2. make sure I left safely. I went up to management and the man did not even say hello to me, he just blandly told me that he cant and wont try to do anything. Earlier that day, my car died on me while I was at Infiniti shopping around for a new car. Their service was closed as well, but as soon as they heard my car, 3 people ran up to me and got my car started in a matter of seconds. Before joining VW, I was reassured, and made sure everything was ok, but as soon as I am with them, they treat me like nothing. I am not sure what it takes to work at Volkswagen, but they are very unprofessional, and unhelpful. Corporate should consider revamping this location. Good thing my lease is almost up. Couldn't have been ANY easier! We were in and out within 2 hours! Worked out a deal by contacting this dealer via internet. Went back and forth for about two days, which is not long at all, and came to a mutual agreement. Went in to view the car, a 2014 Passat Sport, and to our surprise it was ready and waiting for us once we arrived. Andrew was our salesperson and was very personable, helpful and answered all of our questions and we never felt pressured to make a decision. We came in originally with our own financing through our credit union, but after learning of additional incentives through VW, we decided to see if we qualified. We qualified alright, for a much lower interest rate and $0 down directly through VW. In what world can a dealer beat a credit union rate? Apparently the world of VW Pasadena! Scott the finance gentleman was friendly, comical and just downright awesome! VW Pasadena you have earned the business of my family for a long time to come. LOVE my first VW! I've been here quite a few times, mostly for small repairs that were covered under warranty and were completed with no problems. About a month ago I needed to take my car in for the standard 50K service. Ever since then there was issue after issue. They didn't rotate my tires correctly...needed to take it back. Fine so I did. Then my car starts making this loud rattling sound that service claims they can't hear (and I'm thinking its the oil, so I said repeatedly please check the oil) but instead they diagnose it as a beat up catalytic converter cage...fine, fix it. They tell me I should buy a new one but I'm not an idiot i know that the cat converter can be replaced under California emissions warranty, then they say oh no they wont cover that because it still functions...well why did you just tell me that I needed to buy a new one? I then take my car to an independent german repair shop and it turns out it needed an oil change (nothing wrong with the cat converter). WTF! why did I pay $200 for a 50K service a week prior and you didn't change the oil? That's standard! There were a host of issues with my car but I will never ever go back to Pasadena Volkswagen....lying incompetent snakes don't deserve a dime. If you live in Pasadena, just make the gruesome drive to Santa Monica VW or even the overcrowded Downtown LA location, Alhambra, Glendale....anywhere but here. read more

I leased my '12 VW CC 2.0T from here. It was a 5/5 experience. After leasing my car, I was invited to come back within a couple of weeks for a complimentary quality assurance check-up. This is a perfect example of how marketing can do more harm than good (if not done right). I watched as my car sat in the service bay for 45 minutes (after which all they did was literally walk around it once). Perhaps they were trying to see if blowing on it would cause it to fall apart. I don't know. What I do know is that it was a waste of my time. My first actual service (oil change) took a little longer than expected. Recently my rear right brake light burned and I decided to take my car into Volkswagen Glendale to get it fixed. Being Saturday, I was quoted a 4-hour waiting time. I drove to Volkswagen Pasadena and my service advisor, Sal, took care of me within 30-minutes. This gesture of excellent customer service left a lasting impression. Making things short, I've become a fan of this dealership. I favor it over VW of Glendale. I'm a fan and I will be back! read more

After lots of research and footwork I got lucky and stumbled across VW Pasadena. Spoke with Karl first and was immediately contacted by the sales/finance manager Wally. Wally went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. They had the exact car I was looking for (color & options). These guys have just about every color combo/options combo you could desire, huge inventory. We agreed on a deal, Wally told me the car would be ready when I arrived. I showed up late at about 8pm Saturday night. My new GTI was already washed and waxed, waiting for me! Everything Wally told me about the cost was true and honored, how refreshing! The paperwork process was extremely quick, I was in and out of the dealership in approximately an hour, really fast! (Thanks Peter!) the "check engine"light in my VW Golf came on a couple of days ago so I called to make an appt at Pasadena VW and also to have a recall issue taken care of. When I went in, Norm told me he thought that the engine light was not related to the recall, but that it would take a few hours to check out and do the recall. I waited in the very pleasant waiting room and about two hours later Norm came in and told me my car was ready, that the check engine light was indeed related to the recall issue. The recall had been done for free and as the check engine issue was related to that there was no charge. In addition, all the fluids had been topped off, the tires inflated, and my extremely dirty car washed inside and out. Norm was extremely pleasant, helpful, and efficient and I left smiling and knowing that if and when I need more work done, I will definitely return here. I purchased an amazing CC from these folks. When the car was shipped to me in Colorado, it had some damage that was not the fault of the dealership but the transport company. I was consulted by my attorney to gather any documentation possible regarding the condition of the vehicle. Being that I was going against the transport company, i wasn't about to call them and ask for documentation that was likely result in them paying lots of money. So I called VW of Pasadena and asked them for a document that they were given by the driver of the transport company. Jeff Benedict pass me off to a guy named Zeekay whom is the finance director. I would assume it was because he has access to these sort of records. I explain my situation to Zeekay and ask him if he can help me locate a copy of the condition report of the vehicle that was given to them on the day my vehicle was picked up. He says to me (Verbatim) I'm not sure if we even keep documents like that around. (Which seems odd to me because if they were being sued or audited, they would have to furnish that sort of thing.) Then I asked him if he could make sure that they don't have it. That's when he started to get a little spicy with me. He tells me, "We don't have it and furthermore we don't have time to be digging up old documents. If we have time we'll take a look and call you back." I said to him, "I may have to sue this company and your dealership was the originating destination of my vehicle, somebody in your office must have it and it's vital that I get a copy because the damage to my vehicle could end up costing me." He then replied, "Mr. Rodriguez, we're not going to stop what we're doing just to look for some document, call your transport company!" Then I told him, "Zeekay, you realize that it's poor customer service like this that results in a bad review and ends up impacting your business, right?" He said "GO AHEAD! I DONT CARE!" (If i'm lying, i'm dying!) I mentioned to him that I have no problem letting people know how you treat your customers. He replied with, "Sir... I don't care what..." I then noticed him getting louder and talking over me. I asked him, "Why are you getting loud?" He said "Do you want me to help you or not?" *Baffled* I replied, "You don't seem to want to. Thanks anyway" and he hung up on me. I had to talk to the cooperate office of the customer service department of VW and the situation had to be escalated to a regional manager to resolve my issue and address my complaint. Because I never got what I needed from Zeekay I left a SECOND message for Jeff Benedict and he never returned my calls. The receptionist Laura was even a little taken at the amount of times I was calling. After a while, she would answer and I would just say "Laura, he hasn't call me back" and she knew who I was and what I was referring to. So ultimately... If you like horrible attitudes, no calls back, and working with a dealership that is known for this poor service (Check out yelp.com) then by all means, this dealership is for you. read more

This was our first experience with this dealership. It involved an issue which was non-warranty ,but was in negotiation with the factory to be covered. I was greeted by Sal in service and from then on it was smooth sailing.Even on his day off he personally followed up with a call to me. During his time off, Claire along with Chris, continued all the leg work. They worked directly with Katie Fox at VW and all parties were able to agree on a more than satisfactory resolution. Their friendly and professional approach to accommodating the customer made for a no stress, no worries, 100 % satisfied experience. Bottom line, problem solved and left smiling. Two things that are most important and not often experienced at service departments any longer, anywhere.Although I have not purchased a vehicle here, I can five star the service department.If the sales department is structured any way near the service department is, I hope to write the same of them.Thanks to the tech too. I thought long and hard in regards to how much detail I would write here, and I decided to take the diplomatic less is more approach. In a nutshell, please do not consider your purchase here. This message holds particularly true if you are a sigle woman. The behavior of the sales guys and tactics they used were beyond the pale for a car buying experience. I'm contemplating lodging a formal complaint with Volskwagen. I'd start first with the manager, however, I'm not really sure who to co tact as apparently there are two managers who I've been told have "different management styles" hello? Different styles? Just be effective, that's all people want. The 21ar century offers opportunities to purchase vehicles in a way that the consumer can essentially get exactly what they need. This concept seems to elude Volvksawwn Pasadena, and they operate in a way that resembles your traditional 1972 used car lot gig. Just don't do it, walk away, there are a thousand other cars pit there. Take some time to look for the best fit. Just moving to LA, I started looking at the passat. The first dealer in the LA area was far more professional, and ethical, however bottom line, they did not have any of the three vehicles listed on their website on arrival. I thought I would pre-empt this situation by calling VW Pasedena the night before I took the hour long journey to their dealership. Yes, they had the car I wanted I see, and yes, Mr X would be notified on my arrival to show me the car. Guess what? Upon arrival Mr X knew to expect me, but for some odd reason decides to loan out the exact vehicle that I had called on the night before (and promised it would be available to see). So, they had to call the people loaning the car, and I had to wait nearly two hours to aee the vehicle. The rest of my story is not suitable to publish on yelp ( hence my letter to VW). Names aren't necessary, just know to stay away. In the end, I got a much better vehicle , better warranty, and far superior service with a different car company allyogether (seeu other yelp review). Most of y yelp reviews are great, I feel very sad to have to pen such a negative one here, but it must be done. Please steer clear of Volkswagen Pasedena, again to repeat, especially if you are a woman, walking in alone. read more

got my jetta here. they were the only ones to service it. perfect service and work...until my lease ran out and i bought the car. suddenly, their service became slipshod. sub par work (not topping off fluids, charging me for work not requested, misrepresenting "tune ups"--not to mention crazy money for repairs a car with only 30K miles, and trying to charge me for automatic windows that kept breaking) and the customer service was unhelpful. i would not recommend them. read more

This place is a ripoff. You simply cannot trust Volkswagen Pasadena's service department. My wife's VW Beetle pulled loose a corner of the plastic splash shield on a slightly too-high parking block. Volkswagen Pasadena repaired it, but then claimed an auxiliary cooling fan was "damaged." She requested the original part, and when I examined it later I found a single small chip out of only one fan blade -- not at all in need of replacement. I called to complain and ask for a refund. Nevermind that the fan is in otherwise perfect condition, I'm also suspicious about how a spinning fan gets a nick out of only one blade with no other marks on it. Hmm ... ? The service manager, J. Piamonte, refused my refund after I sent him the photos and claimed the fan was "like a jet engine" and a small nick could cause it to "fly apart." What a joke. Except we're out $300 bucks on an unnecessary repair. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO VW PASADENA UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! To add insult to injury, my wife was 8 months pregnant -- they don't care who they cheat. read more

I took my daughter's 2006 Beetle in yesterday morning feeling so frustrated! I couldn't get the car smog checked because of an after market radio wiring issue that I had been assured two years ago was fixed. Long story. Anyway, I asked to speak to the manager and was immediately escorted into Mario's office. He listened to my vent, and then told me he was going to fix the wiring issue and get the car smog checked-no cost! He was very nice and understanding of my frustration, which is half the battle right there! The shuttle driver took me to work and picked me up. And true to his word, Mario had the problem fixed and took the car in to the smog check station with my DMV forms-checked and passed! Wendy was also very nice and helpful. Both communicated with me regarding the car's status. I could not be more pleased. It's really all you can ask for, honest, pleasant and effective assistance! I will definitely return! read more

The reason for a two star rating is because the service department always takes care of the issues the car may have. Which is great. Although we have had a gti for less then two years we have had multiple problems with this vehicle. compared to the other vehicles we have had. our other two cars which still have warranty and we never had any problems with them. we get them serviced by the dealers and everything is good. this is the first Volkswagen we ever had and its because my husband loved and wanted the gti. which we got the car. this car is expensive compared to the other new cars we have bought as well. we have had five issues! for a brand new car is a lot and they were manufacturers issues. we have every issue fixed which is great but if we have had these many issues and a low warranty. how many more issues will we get? well the service department said it was normal to have these issues when i spoke of my worries to get stuck with a car that does not work and payments. They said as long as they fix these issues we are fine. But they are fixing it because we are still under warranty. which leads me to tell you if your thinking of buying a volkswagen think twice. the other two cars i have are well known cars with being well known as reliable. when i thought of volkswagen i thought the best of the best. Now my opinion is different. now I am contemplating of extending the warranty by paying three grand upfront which is what the sales man told me. Due to all these issues. Which Im sure will happen again be cause its starting to make a weird noise. But its "normal" says the service department.
