This company is the worst. They are rude and are holding my personal possessions for ransom. They will not work with me or help me in anyway, I was in a near fatal car accident. I spent 1 month and 2 days in the hospital and another 10 days in rehab. I let them know that i am trying to take care of things and asked if they would work with me the did not want to hear any sob stories their words and that they didn't care on the notice i was sent it states in lew of the fees to bring the title to sign it over i am willing to do that but have to pay off a title loan before i can do so they don't want the title only cash money and laughed at the fact that i will be losing over $1000 worth of personal items. Our fuel pump failed at the top of exit 57. They arrived with a flat bed truck within 15 min of calling. The guy was really nice and professional. We dropped the car at a local shop and he drove us home after. Less than 45 min after the breakdown, the car was at the shop and we were home. read more

Absolutely awful customer service! They made us drive out in the middle of a blizzard to meet a noon deadline or else we'd get charge for the whole weekend. We arrive in the storm to pay for everything and they THEN decide to inform us that they only take cash! (Which we of course didn't have and then had to make another dangerous drive in the blizzard to the bank). I understand that being in the tow industry is not an easy feat - and that customers having little to no patience doesn't make it easier - but there's a way to balance these challenges with running a company. Unfortunately, Volpone doesn't seem to know how to do this. I got in an accident and the MA State Troopers called this service to take my car. I thought it would be easy from there, but it was not. They refuse to take credit card and so I had to physically return in person to release my vehicle - and given I live an hour and a half away, this was no small feat - and when I got there, they were snide and rude. I didn't receive an accurate price estimate of what I owed, so I needed to get cash from an ATM - and the nearest one was nearly a mile down the road! While they did get the job done, meaning they successfully towed my car, they did nothing else well for me and I would highly discourage anyone from working with them. read more

Efficient, fast, very courteous and polite. Had a motorcycle towed and Volpone was very fast to respond and tow to my desired location. The woman on the phone is very polite and friendly. The worker who came out to tow the motorcycle was very efficient and effective. This business DOES accept credit cards, unlike a previous comment who said they don't. This is a very busy and popular towing company in the area that has been in business many years and will continue due to their effective and efficient service. I highly recommend Volpone. read more

These guys are awful!!! SO incredibly rude and nasty!!! If they have your car, don't expect to get anything out of it!!! They are NOT AAA affiliated (not surprised). RIP OFF! These people have a deal with the town of Nbpt to tow from any accident scene to their faciilty, no questions asked. They charge $150 for the tow alone (I have AAA, btw, who would have towed it for free) to their facility, THEN they start charging you $35/day for each day your car sits in their junk lot, but they don't TELL you that when they come to tow your car. When I asked why they don't inform you, they told me they didn't HAVE to. Nice! Also, they'll only accept cash payment before they'll release your car. Good luck with these guys. It's a good thing they have a deal with the town because they'd have no business otherwise. read more

I understand that being towed is not fun and that these people must deal with unhappy customers all of the time but that does NOT mean you can be an asshole. Needless to say we were towed on our way home from vacation and left some items in the car that we needed for our 10 month old. (Baby monitor and breast pump). I called their business card that says 24 hour service and asked politely if I could PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE come get the items. First thing she said was "We are closed till 9 am tomorrow. (why did she answer the phone?) Second of all I can't release the items to you." They are assholes don't use them if you don't have to. read more

It's a shame you can't give 0 stars... Apparently our experience with this place is the norm. 2 days before Christmas my young daughter received her first car and was in horrendous weather when she had a flat. I spoke to the Trooper who immediately for his and her safety called a tow. I was about 1/2 away from going to pick her up however due to weather it took me 10 extra minutes having me arrive 5 minutes after the Tow. The officer assured me the Tow Truck would tow her and drop her off at a safe warm place. He arrives 1 minute prior to me (no not exaggerating ) at a gas station that was literally 5 minutes from where she broke down with the flat) I explained I was waiting for assistance to change the flat and if he didn't arrive in time what would be the charges to pick up at the "lot" He replies with a nasty "oh I have no idea at all, could be a lot more, I have no idea" and when I ask even just a ball park he insists "well then we'd have to change the tire if we bring it back there (mind you we are already in Newburyport so can't imagine they're that far away) and I'm not a "TIRE TECHNICIAN" What ???? Since when is a tow truck driver who changes a tire technician ? OK fine knowing if he brings it back to the lot this kid is going to totally ripped off (glad I trusted instincts and his sub human behavior since based on other reviews it's abundantly clear she would have been); I request he leave it at the gas station and we will figure a way to fix the flat. Sure, $160 cash (not bad for less than 1/2 hr worth of work ) . Fine I say I'll pay it ... Not wanting to leave her car she asks him please if we pay cash now could he please change flat. Sure he says "but will cost you a lot more money". Then he insists he collects cash first. What she's going to drive off in a blizzard with a flat ? Fine sir, I would like a receipt then (obviously he's making up prices as he goes along) He then proceeds to sit in his truck and 1/2 hour later produces a hand written receipt. I wish him a Merry Christmas and explain to my daughter that it's ok despite how nasty heartless and miserable this sorry excuse for a human is there are plenty of decent people. I spoke to the manager of the store / gas station and explained the situation and that we were waiting on assistance to change the flat. "No problem, it's in nobody's way and if not tonight don't worry he will leave a message for daytime manager considering the weather." My fear and I would bet on it that this driver was shady enough to go back and try to tow from store lot if allowed. I merely figure that there are just some people in this world that wake up miserable and go to bed miserable. What a sad existence and what a disgusting name you have mad for yourselves. Obviously you're in a tough business (I get this so am I ) and can't please everyone but having a smidgen of human behavior and decency can go a long way. read more

What a awful company!!!! My teenage son stalled on the highway and the State police called Volpone. He was towed a few miles away - I understand their State contract allows them to charge $120 us for the tow - which is highway robbery - but the classless service received by Jerry Volpone made me furious. Jerry was rude to my wife on the phone and when provided a credit card number he said "Nope, there's an ATM in the gas station - I take cash only". Their website shows they accept Visa. It makes me wonder if there's something to the "cash only" policy that should be looked into further?? Initially, I didn't know the name of the driver and called the main office - the name was illegible on the receipt. When I called the main office, the person who answered hung up on me as I voiced my concerns about our experience. When I called back, the woman referred to her son Jerry as the tow truck driver - the rudeness seems to extend into the whole family. My next call is to the Commonwealth of MA to see how they can renew Volpone's contract when they provide bad service and treat the community so poorly. I got stuck in a blizzard on the road to Plum Island at 2am coming home from work and they spent 45 minutes in the worst windy, snowy weather I have ever seen getting the road plowed and getting me out. They are a local, family run company and just about the nicest people around. Highly, highly recommend. read more

Absolute criminals. Tried to charge me for 6 days when my car was there for 5. They were very rude when we were discussing it and basically agreed with me that I was correct once they counted it out on their fingers (not a joke, they literally counted it out on their fingers). Their driver also lied when I asked him if the weekend was counted as one day or two, it was one until I went to pay the bill, then it was 2. They should be avoided at all costs, they are crooks and their lot is hardly secure. read more

worst experience ever!!!!! the person that towed my car was very rude which brought me to tears!!!!! my son went off the road in a snow storm!!!!! car was ok and so was my son!! charged me $250.00 cash only!!!!!!!!!!!in the 1 hour of service!! and said if i did not pick up would charge me more!!!!!!! warm and fuzzy nottttt!!!!!!!! totally ripped me off!!!!!! leaving me in fear to go pick up car in terrible driving conditions!!!!!!! charged $111.00 for ramp charged 100.00 for winching????? and to top it off charged me $35.00 for storage!!!!! really!!!!! all in 1 hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
