Truth. I've been shopping here for the last 6 months or so and EVERY single time I come across sour faces, unhelpful workers, inattentive employees, just bad customer service overall from everyone ..and especially the seasoned workers at the checkout registers. I don't even acknowledge or try to be courteous to anyone there anymore. I still shop there out of convenience; I live half a mile away, but I make sure to take my head set and I listen to music that helps me tune out these sad people who unfortunately decided to work doing a job in a place they obviously hate. read more

This place has the slowest and dumbest people working their deli, don't know their products don't know how to complete transaction quickly. It took me 20 mins from stepping up to the counter to walking away. These employees also seemed like they were poorly trained or just don't value their job. Take it for what you will. I got probiotics that said "buy one get one free, mix and match" so I got one nature bounty and one vons brand of lesser value because there was no more nature's bounty left, the cashier( tall, older black man) told me it's not and I had him go check and he comes back about 5 minutes later and said, that's not correct, it said buy one and get monopoly cards(didn't make sense) so I argued for a second and he kept saying that and embarrassing me in front of the people in line behind me so I went back and took pictures of the sign that did indeed say "buy one get one free, mix and match" I came back and told him and he shooed me off to Liz the manager. Liz is amazing!! She said it was their fault for not making it clear and that she will make it right, and that she did. She was very sweet about everything. The guy that checked me out came back over to get the "last word" in and said "it was different brands". Vons - Grocery Near Me - Agoura, California

Went to the Starbucks at this Vons, got there and waited in a long line for over 15 minutes. There were many customers in line and waiting for their drinks and only two people at the counter. I finally get handed my drink, and the employee is almost in tears. The manager who was working with her had even seen how overwhelmed the employee was and how busy they were and left anyways. The employee was doing the best she could considering the rush and being left alone in the middle of it. I felt really bad for her, considering I've worked in food service before and know how stressful it can be. I was in shock that the manager left her alone in the middle of a rush. I am really surprised at the bad business reviews for this location! If anything I've experienced some of the rudest customers here! No joke. People that I have come across that I'm sure live in the area, are always cranky and not polite when sharing isle space or in passing while shopping! I work in the area and this is a location I frequent quite a bit during the work week, for work purposes. I've never had a bad experience with any STAFF member here. Whether at the cash register, or the deli, or while shopping. They are always helpful and courteous. Frank one of the managers is always pleasant. There's also a lady manager that I forgot her name but she has short blonde hair, she's always nice! Says hello and is helpful! I just saw her this morning. I only give 3 stars because the produce could use some attention as far as freshness and items being stocked and organized. Website failed at check out numerous times. I gave up & tried again the next day, which it worked. Delivery never arrived. Hung up after being on hold with CS for over 40 minutes. Store said failure with system & delivery may happen by 11pm. It never did. Still waiting on your company to make this right. Still do not have my delivery. I normally wouldn't rate a supermarket on Yelp so consider this review carefully. I've always had great experiences at other Vons stores in Southern California but I have reason to believe this store is different. The primary reason is deceptive pricing. I've talked to their management twice about deceptive pricing and not talked to them several other times where I noticed a little trickery with sign placement. In a nutshell, signs with low prices and very little description for a product is placed adjacent to a similar product - so close that it can easily be mistaken as that product's sale price. PAY ATTENTION TO THE SIGNS. Secondly, their staffing is horrible. From the store manager all the way down to the lowly bagger and cart sheppard, the staff is rude, sloppy and aloof at best. From condescending attitude to bagging that crushes your perishables. I've even had a bagger put food in a clearly torn bag to only have it rip apart - groceries fell everywhere. It's simple to think that there is minimal competition in bucolic Agoura Hills, after all, outside the Ralphs 100 yards across TO blvd, you'd have to drive a handful of miles to get to something even remotely competitive. So why should Vons even try at all? Their confidence implies the heavy pocketed residents will continue to return, get ripped off and get crappy service from a store that's no better than an oversized 7-11. Recommendation - There's a new Trader Joe's on Canwood about a mile away. read more

I come here for pick up and call the number 3 times and get no answer. Absolutely ridiculous: why even have a pickup if you dont answer the phone. I then call customer service and they apparently have no idea what I'm talking about and when they transfer me the person can hardly speak to a point you can barely understand them. I rarely go to Vons as their price is much higher than their competitors but will go if need to. They do not have self check out so you have to wait in line and it takes forever. Either a slow customer or the checker is slow. However you look at it it's still painful. I don't think their selection is great but the store is clean. My biggest gripe is their prices. read more

Used to be alot better. Customer service is very low now. Checkers used to know customers names WITHOUT having to look at the name on the receipt. Asked to page a manager for a return, and the cashier either was hard of hearing, or ignored me (I guess the latter). The folks doing bagging don't pay attention....asked the floor manager if she knew where canned water chestnuts were and she barely offered me help just saying "must be in produce...." They weren't. I ended up asking another customer. Yeah, the decor is nicer, and they keep a good stock of everything with variety. And yeah, I'll still go there, although I go to Ralph's in a heartbeat. Just have them keep employees (or at least the QUALITY employees), and things will get better. So update 1/2012: I go to Ralphs and Trader Joes now. When in desperation, I go to Vons and usually get the bad service I am accustomed to experiencing at Vons. For whatever reason, they RARELY open up their express lane (oh yeah, they do have the 15 items or less express lane which everyone seems to pile on 20+ items). When it gets 5 to 6 customer backed up they MIGHT call for help, that is, if anyone on staff is listening. No improvement at all, in fact, several steps back. read more

This woman has the most energy and the best attitude of any vons employee I have ever seen in my entire life. I really don't understand the negative reviews. I love this Vons. Its always clean and organized. Produce is always fresh and their deli items are delicious! Personnel is always very friendly. Some items can be a bit pricey, but having a Von's card always brings prices down to at least comparable if not less than anverage. They do not have self checkout, but in my opinion, that gives them added customer service points. Any time I've been in a line with more than 2 or 3 people ahead of me, they open another register. I think other Von's markets could take note of the customer service in the Agoura Hills location. read more

I hate going into this place. They are the only store around that carries a soda I like or else I would never go in again. Other than that, their selection is poor, and it has a depressing air about it. Last time I went in there my bill was $45 (yes, $45) more than it should have been because the genius cashier rang me up wrong for two items. In one case he keyed in a quantity of 12 instead of 2, and in the other, a quantity of 2 instead of 1. He must be the manager's son. read more

If your looking to apply here consider the fact that the main Manger will have very little respect for you, saying snarky comments making a person feel bad about them selfs. Expect the manager who does the scheduling, Dawn, to not listen to you when you tell her you don't have a car. Because she will schedule you for a different location and not let you know. My time has been wasted, I have no money for rent, because I got no hours no training and no respect. I stopped going here, because of this incident. About 6 months ago I was shopping after work. Everything was fine until I approached the checking area. Cashier was nice but the bagger was my problem. He kept giving me weird looks and did not say a word. When I got home I noticed smushed eggs and bread. I think the baggers name was brian. Have shopped at this store since 1999 when we moved to Agoura. It has gone down hill-dirty, messy, complained of cockroaches on the floor, returned rotted fruit and vegetables, but the worst was recently when I shopped on Sunday, 1/18. Not enough checkers, not enough baggers and the bagger who did my groceries put milk and eggs and smooshed everything. Took my groceries to my car and decided to go back and finally complain. Supervisor was very nice, but really this is a management problem. Train your employees, get rid of the lazy and slow employees, and be worried about your customers as much as you are the bottom line. Going back to Ralphs for awhile. read more

I will never understand why this Von's does not teach their employees how important it is to perform good customer service. I go in to buy deli meats and their is a line with only 1 person cutting and serving. I ask if he is taking orders and he says we need to wait he's busy. If I ask for bags and for them to not be heavy, why would you then proceed to cram all my countless items into 3 bags? With a bad back I do not appreciate carrying 20 pound bags that feel as if they are about to burst at the seams. I am willing to pay a measly 10 cents per bag and I assure you you can double check with me as you add the bags on, I will say yes another 10 cent bag is great. Why are you guys hoarding your plastic bags? Also, snobby teenagers working here that roll their eyes and don't say hi first. Costumer service is saying "Hi, how are you today?" Why are your costumers asking your workers that question first? Some of the most rude people in the world work here. Mostly women. Don't get me started with some of the women that work here that think they are holier than thou and shouldn't even greet a paying costumer. I see they know the Union protects them, but I'm not sure how they get away with such poor, sh*t attitude. Perhaps they are going through menopause? Sure seems like it. Lots of nice men work here, but catch them on a bad day and they'll sure let you know that. I quit shopping here a couple of years ago even though my bank is in their building. Today they reminded me why that is the case. The service at Vons is junk. I needed peanut oil and Vins has it, so I ended up here. My pop enjoys their deli sandwiches so I headed over to the counter to order a sub with horseradish cheese that my pop likes. I waited at the counter as the lady working the deli walked past me a dozen times without even a greeting. Finally, someone from the floor came back to help me. He handed me over to the lady who had been ignoring me and she reluctantly started my sandwich. I asked for the horseradish cheese and was told she didn't have it. REALLY? I walked over to the other side of the deli and there it was! She refused to offer me the cheese so I finished my sandwich order and asked her to help me at the other end. I then had to purchase the cheese separately and put it on my sandwich myself. Thanks Vons, for reminding me why I shop anywhere but here. And why Italian Deli next door is always slammed while you are empty at the deli. read more
