We had the plain crispy wings and the spicy crispy wings as well. Excellent flavors on both entrees and although I tend to enjoy my spicy a bit more SPICY, we thoroughly enjoyed the wings. I would recommend that you order in advance since it took about 15-20 to get our order. The prices were OVER THE TOP for wings. I get that they were fantastic, but our 2 orders were just under $30. It was our first visit to Von's today to try the Korean Fried Chicken. I believe the "senior gentleman" was the owner, he recommended since it was my first visit ... most popular. I ordered a full order (20 pieces) of that Fried Shoyu Chicken wings. Before completing my order and accepting payment, he told me that it would take 15 minutes and asked if that's ok. Other customers after me were told and asked that as well ... I felt that was very considerate! The wait was worth it! Hot, tasty, moist meat and a light crisp on the outside. I love vons! A place I tend to order frequently when I crave KFC, but my recent order only came with 2 drumsticks and the rest were small wings. The flavor wasn't as evenly tossed as I had in the past, which makes the flavor a bit bland. The first time this happened I assumed it was because of the dinner rush, but this time I ordered during an off time.... Prices are a little bit higher, but I've noticed that's the range for KFC. The price doesn't bother me as long as they don't cut corners like that, but if that's the case I might be heading back to good chicken for my KFC fixings. read more

As of this review, $7.32 including tax, gets you a plate of four pieces of meaty fried chicken wings of your choice, two fried mandoo, mac salad, and rice. The chicken is cooked to order, so be prepared to wait. The water dispenser does not dispense chillled water. Just room temperature water. Go figure. However, bottled water or canned sodas may be purchased if you prefer. It's also a BYOB establishment, so that's something to consider too. Dine in or take out. I must say I've been wanting to try this place out badly but finally got the time to try it. This place is a Korean restaurant that sells Korean made chicken. First of all these chickens were nice sizes you get what you pay for. 2nd this was the most tastiest, juiciest chicken I have ever had. I just wanted more. I would definitely recommend this place to all if you're looking for some bomb chicken. This place needs to be in a more active area because this place is so delicious. I am just so happy with this place their service and food. It's great to know places like this exist on this island. The service there was great too. It is a very small place, so we got ours to-go. The guy working there was very friendly and funny. I recommend getting spicy if you enjoy spicy food. Saw this while running errands in town. Who wouldn't stop for some crispy chicken! Location/Parking: right on the corner of N King St. Easy to spot if you're driving around the area. Street parking only unless you work around the area then just walk to it. I was lucky enough to get 1 street parking close to it. Setting: saw about 3 tables that can occupy 4 people and a bigger table on the other side that can fit 8 people. Also, there is a bar stool table like facing the window that has 4 seats. Staff: very friendly owner! He was behind the cash register and taking orders. I noticed that he was pretty known in the area since he had some regulars walking in. Always smiling and friendly! Food: served fresh and hot! Crispy chicken is really crispy and prime. The garlic chicken though, that dish hit the spot for sure! When your craving for crispy chicken, this is the place to be! Tried the new location of Von's Chicken and had their chicken plate. The chicken, while good, were small pieces and you get only 4 for a lunch plate. Psychologically I'd probably prefer two large pieces even if it amounted to the same weight in food. On the positive side, the breading was crispy and excellent. On the other hand, I would've preferred different side options besides mac salad. The Mandoo was oddly a bit smaller than I've seen everywhere else. With the plethora of fried chicken options, I can't say they stand out. But the service was fast and friendly. No parking so make sure you find street parking or walk there. read more

I had to write a review of Vons. I think my husband and I will make our job to find the best chicken wings. WE both love eating wings... but who wouldn't... Anyhow, even on our honeymoon we made it a must that we ate chicken wings. We found Vons based on Yelp reviews. We were starving by the time we got there and were so excited to eat the wings. And let me just say they were amazing. The Shoyu wings were my husbands favorite, while I picked the Crispy Fried seasoned (we shared them). I didn't get it spicy for the Crispy Fried seasoned, but we got Vons again, not at this location since it was the closed at this spot that we had to go to the one in the Korean market and I got the Crispy Fried one but spicy this time, it was amazing. If you love wings, Vons is definitely the spot to go to. I think there are some out in the bay area, so hopefully it taste just as good as it tasted in Hawaii. read more

My family ordered all 5 of the flavors and they did not disappoint! Maybe the honey butter flavor we could have left out but the rest was delicious. The wings were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! The wings are not the dingy little wings that buffalo wild wings or other chain shops would give as well so that's a plus. They were huge pieces. I wish I took a picture of it but my family was too hungry. My favorite was the Crispy Garlic and Spicy flavors! These are not your typical Popeyes chicken but the Korean Fried ones. If you get a chance to visit Hawaii, this is a shop you must go to! I also recommend getting their spicy rice cakes which are a little bit different than the original Tteok-bokki because it's not soaked in the Korean paste. It really is the real KFC - they give so much chicken. We picked up plain fried and shoyu. It took about 15 minutes to cook for two full sizes. The wait was very hard, especially when I see other customers digging in. Service is excellent! Unfortunately, I was sick and couldn't eat as much as I hoped. Ate some as leftovers (heated in oven) and it was still yummy and crisp. The wings (flats and drummettes) were the perfect size. Not too tiny and not so humongous. (That said because at Hooter's, I notice that on all you can eat, Wings Wednesday the wings vary in size and not consistent with regular wing days. BTW I like dry rub so I like Hooter's Chesapeake...) Getting back to Von's, the chicken isn't over oily, the crisp is perfect, and not overly battered. I honestly think that despite anyone telling me all the flavors are good, they probably are, otherwise they wouldn't be on the menu. So much chicken in the full serving, can bring to a pot luck. A little pricy, but worth the price. The servings are chicken only. They do have a plate with 4 pieces, mandoo and rice. I can't recall if Mac salad too. Located on Pensacola, Vons Chicken is the epitome of chicken and beer. Why? Because the chicken is crispy and delish, and the restaurant is BYOB. Score! My coworker and I went after work. Weekdays are little empty, so we were able to sit and eat. We just wanted a snack, so we shared the Crispy Fried Chicken (10 pieces!). Although it's the regular crispy fried chicken, it does come with a little shoyu and garlic sauce. YUM. When we got our chicken, it was hot, fresh and ready to get in my belly! We had to let it cool a little because it came out steaming hot. But then, we were able to savor each and every bite of chicken. Light and crispy skin paired with juicy moist chicken? You can choose to order just the chicken or do plate lunches. Fried chicken only orders are drumettes and wings. Plate lunch consist of your choice of boneless chicken, rice, macaroni salad and fried gyoza. If you order takeout, give the cook at least 10-15 minutes prep time. Gahhh this chicken.. my boyfriend and I drool at the sheer mention of Vons I've only had the original fried crispy and shoyu fried but it's sooo stupid good. Juicy, salty, light breading, extreme crunchiness.. everything you could possibly want in a good piece of chicken. It's pretty damn pricey and parking sucks but 1000% worth it even if they doubled the price and there was no parking and I had to walk up 10 flights of stairs I would 100% go through all of it. Tip- CALL AHEAD your chicken is being made with love you can't rush it..it always takes 20minutes Go in pairs, you need someone to drive and someone to hop out this is a 2 person mission. Or you have to luck out on parking. Found this place on yelp and noticed it was also byob so I ran across the street to Walgreens for a six pack. We also tried the mandoo, it was good but tasted like it was prepackaged. Today I came in for my very first time. I paid for my food and then after swiping remembered to ask for sauce. I found out sauce costed an extra 25 cents which I wasn't too surprised about and happily offered to pay for it in on the card. The nice man behind the counter said that I could only pay in cash for such a small amount, which makes sense. I was disappointed because I thought I would not get sauce. Moral of the story is the nice man behind the counter let me have the sauce this time, I WILL MOST CERTAINLY BE GOING BACK AND PROMISE TO PAY FOR THE SAUCE NEXT TIME!
