So I came here today because I had a Gift Card that was given to me by my work. They gave everyone a Gift Card as a Thanksgiving gift....anyway, I was actually pretty impressed. They have a really good set-up and I have to admit it had me looking around, but that night be because I was completely new to the store. They have a good selection of soups, picked up a chicken enchilada soup that went over very well. They seem to offer a few more things than the store I normally shop at does...sad, for the other store. The aisles are a bit small, which is something I am really not use to, but since I was only there for a short time it didn't bother me too much. They do offer a self-check out which is really cool....and the customer service is great! read more

What more is there to say? This Vons in particular isn't like any other grocery store I've been to. The atmosphere is elegant and nice, it seems as if its not necessarily a supermarket anymore. I've lived around the area my whole life, and one day they decided to remodel the place and boy was it spectacular. The atmosphere is almost like Trader Joes. Produce is restocked every so often and they have great daily deals. The staff members that work here are very nice and they will always ask you if you need help unloading everything to your car. There is definitely ample amounts of parking since it is located in a plaza center. The grocery store also has Panda Express and a Starbucks. Both are great additions to the store. Also, there's a small dining area so you may enjoy your chinese food or coffee along with lounge chairs and tables outside. I've had to come to this store at different times of the night and they were open! If you're a early bird I suggest you buy some bagels. They make fresh bagels daily and they are really good. They bake their own goods and have lots of selection from wine to freezer goods, to everyday items and vegetables and meats. I would recommend my friends to this store any day! read more

I would leave zero stars if I could. I had an important work call that side tracked me and I was headed outside to take the call. I had my cart with me yes, but I was going to leave it by the door as I took my call. I for maybe 20 ft away from the door when an older women and a tall heavy set woman stopped me, interrupted my financial call, and ripped my cart away from me and said I can't be that close to the door without paying or something like that. When my call was finished I came back inside to find my cart so I could purchase my items and the two women w were nowhere to be found it neither was my cart. L I asked several employees and that one knew what I was talking about but all the other customers around were staring at me like I was some criminal. It was incredibly embarrassing and this used to be my regular shopping location but I can assure them I will never ever come back to this store again and I will spread this bad experience to everyone I can possibly imagine. Unbelievable! I am in restaurant operations for a living and that is no way to treat your customer. I almost thought this was the wrong Von's when I saw the picture posted. That definitely isn't the Von's on Valley View. This Von's is really great. They are very similar to Pavilions in terms of size, selection, and gourmet products. Large selection of health foods and organic items. They get customers through the checkout fairly quick. The employees are very polite, always asking how you are doing or if you need help. Even the guy collecting shopping carts asked me how I was doing as I was walking to the store. The only thing I dislike about this store (really, all Von's) is their regular prices are very expensive compared to Albertson's or Stater Bros. But there are no Albertson's in the area, and the Stater Bros down the street is kind of small, so I always end up here. read more

This is my new go-to place for lunch. I like that they have fresh soup cooked daily, and sold at a cheap price. They also switch up the selection on a daily basis. They have a small seating area for shoppers to eat at. It is located next to a Starbucks and Panda Express - talk about convenience! The prices are reasonable, although I can find better deals @ Staters. The store is clean and organized, which is a must! Overall, this market is esthetically pleasing, but a little small compare to Whole Foods or Albertsons. read more

I've been going to this Vons for years. I constantly find myself rediscovering it--as it is changing with the times. I love that they are developing an organic produce section and a organic and natural food aisle. They have some of the items that I love at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's at a lower price, especially with the VonsClub discount. One oddity though: They have started stocking Nature's Path cereals and granola (Fantastic!), but they don't have the Hemp Granola, Nature's Path's signature granola... Why!? because it is Hemp? Overall a great Vons and a easy-going shopping experience. Aisles are wide, employees are friendly and have been around forever, a good floor layout, and newly restocked, fresh produce. read more

My Mom went there last week and the produce clerk thought she was going to open a corn stalk, how rude of that idiot to think that. This store is very close to where I live, so it's convenient. It's in the Eastgate Plaza, a few nice shops in there like Rite Aid are there as well. Ralphs and Stater Bros are better than Vons, go shop there instead. read more

So disappointed in my visit to Vons this morning! Looking for a rib roast and , on the weekend, who doesn't have rib roast at a grocery store that brags about their meat dept? When I asked the meat manager where they were, he just (very curtly) said, "We don't have any". No explanation, so apology-nothing! He has done this before when I requested lamb shanks, so his attitude is nothing new. Everyone else in the store is so pleasant and accomodating--where did they find this guy? I left and went to Stater Bros, where the meat manager interrupted his lunch to cut me exactly what I wanted! Guess where I'll be shopping from now on?! read more

Do not come to this Vons. It is an absolute terrible experience, made worse by the female "manager" with streaks in her hair. I would include her name, but she refused to give it to us, saying she would write it on the receipt and never did. Corporate will be getting a letter and it is my hope that changes are made! To summarize, we came in for a special on turkeys that was only available on the Vons app. I downloaded the app for my mom on the way in and we shopped. When checking out, I asked the checker if we needed to scan the app, he explained that a phone number was needed. My mom had accidentally put her home phone in, so we needed to recheck (the 10 or so) groceries that had been scanned and bagged and use her cell phone number for the promotion. The bagger was visibly annoyed as she pointed out that "Ugh, now they need to be rescanned". This rude behavior continued. We let her know we would bag our groceries and ask her to leave. She refused. I walked over to bag the groceries and she literally pushed past me to get to our cart. In what world is that ok? She explained she was the "manager" and when I let her know, she needed to leave and we would bag our own, she continued her confrontation. She began condescendingly smiling, pushing past me to the cart and stating "I am providing customer service, I can't leave". It was the most uncomfortable situation I've ever been in at any store I've ever been to. We continually asked her to leave and she wouldn't, stating, "Well I can ask you to leave", but she didn't. She kept grabbing groceries from me and putting them in the cart. This woman was crazy, we let her continue and we asked for a refund. It was a terrible experience and I don't wish it on anyone. My husband is a dentist in the area, I am a teacher and my mother is a nurse. We work with people regularly and it is NOT OK to treat anyone this way. Do not come here. There are plenty of other grocery stores in the area with much better prices and service. I live closer to Ralphs and normally go there anyway, I'll NEVER return to this Vons or any other for that matter. read more

My Fiancé and I are trying our best to stay out of public places unless needed. We used the curbside pickup for Ralphs for so long, we decided to use Vons, to give Ralphs a break. I thought it was weird to wait around for a confirmation email to pickup our order, but I am a patient person. However, our confirmation email was never received. I called the department at 8pm, to check on my order, and I was told the department was now closed. I spoke with a "manager" just to be told that she had no access to their system. I emailed a customer service team, and they assured me that I wouldn't be charged since I never picked up my order. This was a week ago, so I called about 2 days ago to their customer service line, and explained my situation, that I was charged for an order that was not picked up. Once again I was assured that I wouldn't be charged and they would process my refund. I have yet to receive my refund, do not order curbside with Vons, they have no clue on how to organize themselves. I'll stick with Ralphs. I don't need anymore headaches this year. read more

I only come here for their sandwiches and Homemade Chili, both are very good. I go with the Turkey Pesto sandwich on a focaccia bread, delicious. Their chili is my favorite though. It's made fresh daily and very affordable. Only one negative about their deli and that is the service is snail pace...these kids are so slow and look like they've never made a sandwich in their life. They also have a Starbucks and Panda Express but don't really dig their Chinese food. The chow mein is always dry and portions are tiny compared to other Chinese fast food places. read more

This is a really nice, clean, store with a lot of variety in its foodstuffs. The service is good and the staff are really helpful and friendly. Now the part i dont like, and its mostly gripes with how Vons runs card deals. They make you buy like 10 of 1 item to get a decent price on something, and if you only want like 1 or 2 the prices are too high. If I want volume like that i would go to costco or smart and final. If you want good service and some starbucks coffee come here but be willing to pay for it, other then that ill be heading over to staters where they dont jerk you around on prices. read more

This review is mostly for the Panda Express located inside. The lady working at the time was named Silvia. She walked up, offered us a sample and we declined. I've had Panda Express plenty of other times and have never had a problem with the orange chicken. That was, until today! I ordered 1 side, chow mein and orange chicken along with a pink lemonade. I moved over to the little seating area they have, opened up and started eating. The orange chicken LITERALLY took my breath away. It was drenched in vinegar. I returned the food and asked for a refund and Silvia replies with, "That is why we offer samples." WHY? Because your cook doesn't know how to follow a chain restaurant recipe? I've had Panda's orange chicken before and have never had a problem. I'm not going to automatically assume you can't cook. I should have walked away like I had planned to in the first place because NONE of the food looked appetizing in the least bit. It all looked gross and like it has been sitting in the pans for a couple days. Getting the pink lemonade was my fault. They didn't have water or unsweetened tea and I haven't had any sort of soda in years so the sugar rush was intense with that. As for the Vons store itself, its clean, the meat area has a strong fish smell, and the milk is VERY expensive (would have cost almost $8 for 2 gallons) so I passed on the milk and went to Costco instead for it. read more

I still give this location two stars but I did give Vons another chance at another location in a different city today for lunch. I got a deli sandwich from the counter and I really enjoyed it, however one consistent theme, customer service was mediocre at best. Only reason I come here is because I used to love Safeway's deli sandwiches when I was living in Northern California, and I had much better customer service. Another consistent theme with Vons deli is their packaged meals. They taste horrible compared to other competitive stores My club card savings at the deli counter was much better than anywhere else in the store. I spent $7.49 on lunch versus $8.97 without the card, thanks to the meal deal ($5.99 sandwich + $1.50 chips and drink). And apparently they discontinued the buy 7 sandwiches get one free??? Wtf?? One positive thing about Safeway/Vons/Pavilions, their in store brands are awesome. Beats Kroger any day. But the service and management again, very much lacking. Ralphs has much better service I can overlook some of their product shortcomings. Albertsons too Moral of the story, esp with the Safeway-Albertsons merger, Safeway works better in NorCal, and Albertsons way better in SoCal. They deserve 3.5 to 4 stars on average. Vons deserves 2.5 stars at best, for pretty much every location. Sprouts is a much better choice for lunch. $4.99 for a sandwich ($3.99 if you don't want avocado, bacon, or hummus) and only $1 extra for chips and a water. Much better deal, much better service, and much better and fresher ingredients. Many more sandwich and lunch options as well. :) read more

Vons has poor quality produce for a premium price. The clerks will double scan things, so be on the lookout. Management sucks as they keep moving things around! I know why they move things around... to piss off their customers and to make a few more bucks... ugh... The aisles are blocked with boxes and carts with people restocking. Sometimes big palettes are in the middle of the aisles. I'm surprised someone hasn't tripped over something and sued. If you can get past all that, then it is an okay store. read more

This Vons used to be one of the best around. Then some idiot higher up decided it was a good idea to get rid of Self Checkout!!!! Worse decision ever. Now it's 3s a Crowd... Not in the morning it's not. One cashier with 5-6 people in line, with other employees turning a blind eye and not doing anything about it. I guess stacking hand carts are more important than opening up another cashier. Customer service is a joke, I hear more about their personal lives rather than working/running a market. I really hate coming here. The store itself is clean and the produce and other products are generally okay. But the lines man, the LINES. I have never come in here and spent less than 10 minutes just waiting to check out. Even when I have literally one item. Doesn't matter what time of day or night. Open some more registers! I've been using the drive up delivery for a couple of months now and it's been GREAT! I haven't worked up the nerve, to go back to indoor shopping but, from what I hear, they're doing a fantastic job, trying to keep everyone safe. However, I was trying to buy hot prepared chicken at the deli, the two women that work there take forever to service there customers and one of them is very rude. When I tell people I shop at the Vons in Garden Grove, they're say, "You mean Garbage Grove? Hahahah." Riiiiight... Well, this Vons is NICE. You walk in, and there's rustic wooden floors that lead you to the produce section. They ALWAYS have tons of fresh produce and it always looks so nicely arranged. Even when an item is on sale, they're plentiful. I can't say I've ever asked for a rain check there because they don't seem to ever run out of stuff. The employees have definitely been trained to be polite and very customer-service-friendly. I'd say that 80% of the employees that walk past me say one of the following: * Hi, how are you today, Miss? Can I help you find anything? * Hello/Good morning/Hi. Are you finding everything okay? Although I can get a bit tired of saying, "No thanks, I'm good" it's better than searching for an unwilling, grouchy employee to ask for help. At the checkout stand, they always offer to help me take out my groceries. And they wait for your answer cuz they really DO care. So, not only do they have fresh produce and nice employees, but they also have Panda Express and Starbucks inside (I don't care much for the latter...). I've also noticed that they have DVD rentals for a machine for something like $1.49 a night! You just pay with your credit card. I have yet to do this, but considering it's at a very friendly and trustworthy Vons, I'll give it a try. read more

i didn't have a real grocery store hierarchy until now... this vons really is the best. their produce is so fresh and crunchy. they have a coffee bean and panda express inside which is pretty cool even tho i would not even touch the latter. their alcohol section is bigger than most grocery store ones and nicely organized. prices are a little higher than ralphs but quality makes up for it. they carry a variety of things too. i found chard (a green leaf lettuce thing) in two varieties here! usually you can only find that produce in asian supermarkets. read more

Seems like I'm not the only one that thinks the check out time is super slow. I come here at least twice a week to pick up lunch (because its better than fast food). I have a 30 min lunch and spend 20 of it, just in the store. During lunch hour when it's busy, you would think they would open another express checkout line or maybe train more than 1/3 of their deli staff to ring up orders, right? That may save more time. Horrible service! One of their check stands is specifically for handicapped customers & says that check stand is to pen first &close last. It was closed! And the kid in charge didn't care. Also they had a note taped to the credit card machine saying no cash back. After standing in line, you find out no cash back. That should be up by the check stand number so you can choose a different stand. read more

They have a nice variety of food but disappointed in the customer service. I brought a gift card to use and the cashier girl didn't know how to scan the gift card. She stood there for 5 minutes trying to figure it out. She asked a cashier behind her and he told her how but it still wasn't working. He told her to go up to the supervisor and ask.. she refused. She continued to stand there and do nothing about it. There was a long line of impatient customers. So I handed her my debit card and told her to use that instead , she said ok....i had to spend my money because she refused to get help when I could have saved money by using a gift card. If you wish to sample something you may upon request if you are not happy with an item please return for full refund. Plenty of parking well lit at night. Tables and chairs to sit outside to take a breather or to snack. Carry out service is fully available at all times even late night! You can get Western Union at front of store at customer service. Fully staffed U.S. Bank inside the store. Full-service bakery with decorator. Also carries sugar free and gluten-free items in the grocery dept. Wide variety of organic produce. read more

Was in the area and popped in for a few items. When I entered the store I was immediately struck by how nice the store looked. Very clean and well organized. I live in LB and our grocery store options are very limited. About the only place I shop in LB is the Ralph's in the Marina - I never cared for the Vons location near the traffic circle. I may consider making the bit of a drive over to this Vons when I do my big shopping. Since it was my first visit here and I only needed a couple items, time will tell if the extra drive will be worth it. read more
