This Vons must be one of the smallest Vons around. It almost reminds me of a neighborhood mom and pops store. For a while there they were horrible with customer service but now Vons seems to have gotten their act together. After the recent remodeling, the store has a fresh look but because of the size, things feel a bit cramped. Vons have the best price on my brand of kombucha around and let's not forget the fresh French bread that is available around 4 pm every day. Shopped here for the first time yesterday and I won't be returning. I needed to get a handful of ingredients for a soup I wanted to make and figured this location would have what I needed, but alas, that was not the case. Majority of the produce they offer is organic and costs more than regular produce. I skipped getting what I needed there. They didn't have the kind of chicken broth I was looking for. Didn't get that. I needed heavy whipping cream but they didn't have any on the shelf and the employees were not interested in looking to see if they had any more in the stocking area. Couldn't get that. They also didn't have any minced garlic. Welp. I went to the front to pay for the few items I did manage to find and all the cashiers were extremely slow. My "quick" grocery trip ended up taking twice as long as I anticipated. I'll stick to my usual grocery stores moving forward. read more

Vons was fine, a very forgettable grocery store which isn't a bad thing. They have the basic here, all of the basics that you need, you'll be able to find. The prices are also good if you compare to other places but of course what this place lacks is specialty and better quality. I haven't gotten seafood from here and probably won't, but this place is great for toiletries, cleaners, olive oil etc. They do have some organic produce, but it didn't look so great, I'm not sure that's the clientele here. This is a smaller Vons relative to other locations. They do have a nice selection of the basics, and also a good organic line. I really love their pre-bagged salads. There are a lot of light options that can complete your dinners in a pinch. One time I tried to get something from the deli for a picnic and it took so long, I think they are understaffed in that area. Other than that, this store doesn't get to busy so it's nice for some quick grocery shopping. My favorite part - they have kid sized shopping carts that will entertain my son the whole time we are there. The shopping carts are really the main reason I come back! read more

I came in this evening as a matter of "convenience". I am not a Vons shopper but it was on the way to where I was headed. I stopped in for 3 things. A lettuce pack, vegetarian chili, and meatless grounds. The Ralph's I go to has a HUGE selection of vegan products so I mistakingly assumed that Vons, being a large grocery chain, would carry some sort of version of what I was looking for. This place has 1 tiny corner of tofu and Tofurky (both of which I didn't need and the area was half empty). I asked the checker where I could find products like Gardein, Beyond Meat, Field Roast... anything... she looked at me with this blank stare and stated she had no idea what I was talking about and that she had never heard of these products. I then asked her if there were meat alternative products that Vons does carry? She said, "We have gluten free items and turkey where the shrimp is." That is verbatim. She then asked if I found everything I was looking for. O_o Food aside, the layout is horrendous. I had to go AROUND displays, sometimes twice to avoid hitting someone or to avoid being hit. The freezer section was full of boxes and only 1 cart could go through at a time (I literally had to back up completely out of the aisle for someone to pass). This location is nice for me as it is walking distance. If I need something quick, it is perfect, but I would say 4 out of 10 times, the items I need are out of stock. You can walk down isles and see wide gaps of open space on the shelves. The employees at this location have always been nice and friendly, usually only a few are working with long lines a very common occurrence. If you are driving to this location to shop, I would highly suggest shopping at the Hermosa Beach Vons. I previously shopped at the Vons in Hermosa Beach which rarely had items out of stock and surely never had wide open gaps read more

Almost every visit I make ends with dissatisfaction. Today was the final straw. Not only do they often have wrapping shipping pallets in the middle of the isles, they are either out of stock on most items, have this misplaced or sorted in a hidden location. Things aren't organized and their customer service is a joke. Most employees couldn't care less to help you. Items not correctly marked and very limited registers open when lines are running long. Now they seem to have closed most registers and seem to be installing self checkout. The line was down isle at checkout so I left all my items behind and left. Horrible customer service. Hard to find anyone in deli or bakery section. Bakery breads are always out in the afternoon and evening. Today just after 7pm no bakery bread at all. Needed a baguette. Had to wait 10 minutes to find someone. Then deli kid said they closed at 7 that's why there's no bread. The day before a holiday they don't stick up? I asked if he could get me a frozen baquette. He told me to go to the frozen food section. This kid has no clue. I asked him to get his manager for me. He came back minutes later and said manager said no. I went to the manager desk. The manager wasn't even there. In the back somewhere. I asked the girl who I was talking to if she could get me one and she said no. Wow...... This store has no clue how to treat customers. A frozen baquette would have taken 5 minutes to get and price. They are horrible. I'm going to Ralphs, whole foods or trader joes where you are a valued customer! Zero stars. -zero starts. You would think they would change their ways. NOPE. waited 10 minutes for bakery to show up and help. Lyn was extremely rind and unhelpful. I love this grocery store. I'm not extremely picky and don't like paying $10 for a watermelon like some people. So for me this place is great with a Vons card you can get some really good deals and the workers here are always so helpful and friendly. A special shout-out to Nick in the produce section. I would recommend going to the Vons in Hermosa Beach rather than this location on Beryl in Redondo Beach. Tonight I needed milk and juice and decided to quickly pick it up at this store. It took me 30 minutes to check out due to my waiting in line of 12 people with only two registers open. When I was finally at the checkout I asked why self check out was closed. I was told it was due to being short staffed. I have lived in this neighborhood for 25 years, and yes this particular store has been "short staffed" for 25 years. Officially done with this Vons. I'm tired of the long lines and frazzled cashiers. Today, we bought supplies for ice cream sundaes. On the way home, we realized we were overcharged. The whipped cream that was buy one get one free came up as full price. The $3.50 ice cream came up as whipped cream for $5.00. The manager was rude about fixing the solution. So we finally get home and open the chocolate pretzels we bought. They were chalky and white and had melted into a huge clump. This isn't the first time we've bought products from them that were melted or mishandled. Today was the first time we got ice cream that wasn't full of ice chunks from having melted before being put back in the freezer. Even if the products are fine, checking out is still a big issue. After you wait in a long line, the Just 4 U coupons, which are necessary to make items a decent price, don't come up. Even if you added them to your account just before heading to the store, prepare to pay full price. If you contest the coupons, they'll ask you to sit down with one of the courtesy clerks, who don't really know how to solve the issue. Sorry, Vons, but we're done. UPDATE 8/24/13: Had to go to this Vons because Super A was out of something I needed. Guess what? All the melted/stale/fuzzy Flipz are still on the shelf! Delicious. read more

Used to be my favorite grocery store...now, not so much. This is a smaller Vons, so their selection is a bit more limited. Which is forgivable if you have great customer service and products to make up for it. This Vons sadly falls short. Every time I go into this place I am only helped by the same two or three people, since they seem to be the only ones willing to do their jobs. I can never find anyone in produce, the service deli, or the bakery. The selection, though missing a few items (I have never heard of a grocery store that does not sell Slim-Fast), is actually quite good, and the sandwiches in the service deli (when made by the right people) are delicious. My only complaint is that I can never find anyone to help me here. Other than that, it's a great place to shop--the produce is always fresh and the few people who do help are kind enough to make up for the lack of staff. read more

Customers bring their dogs (not service dogs) into this store and the employees do nothing to stop them despite this being illegal, unsanitary, and completely unnecessary (can't people leave their dog in their car or at home?). This Vons also seems small and it is difficult to find things. Many aisles are very narrow which makes them difficult to negotiate, even when there aren't dogs blocking your path. read more

My go to grocery store, especially now that all the surrounding markets (Albertson's Super A, Haggen and Ralph's in Hermosa) have closed. I do have to say that quality is great and they are stocked up on all the items I need. Lately, I have been disappointed with the long wait times for Deli and Seafood. The Deli not too bad but that staff kind of rude and with NO sense of urgency (the ladies). The Seafood Department maybe understaffed because, I like the seafood I see but it usually takes 10 minutes to get someone to help; I have had to call the front desk to get some one out for me and other customers. I really do hope that this business gets it together because they do offer great product. Like I said I love VONS but I would hate for them to be gone too because of bad service. read more

1 of my regular shopping spots! Kind of messed up but the person in the deli called off 1 day when I came in for a Breakfast Sandwich. Then a week later or so they ran out of yellow eggs and then a week after that ran out of egg whites, so no eggs = no breakfast sandwich. I brought it to the attention of the Store Manager Derk and he hooked me up w/ a FREE Breakfast Sandwich and they have been on it ever since! Only thing I wish is they had more GF/DF and specialty items but no big deal I can run down the road the bigger Vons in HB for that! For all the people yapping on here just to yap and bring this rating down I say save ya breath and move to another town cause I don't think its working for ya here! This location had a Grand Re-opening recently because they had done some serious remodeling and their deli section now is up to par with some of the big boy supermarkets in the area! They have expanded the floor and now carry sandwiches, cold salads (i.e., maraconi, potato, slaw, etc.), cold and hot soups, a bakery section with cakes, pastries, donuts and fresh breads. There's also a cheese section as well and grocery delivery is available by shopping online for those too lazy to skulk around the aisles. There's a $50 minimum for this however. I'm glad they decided to improve their selection and I've always liked their produce and meat departments so I will definitely be shopping here on a more regular basis, that is, after Whole Foods and Trader Joes! :P read more

I typically shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Sprouts, and the long lost Albertsons. So, now I have tried the Albertson's alternative here at Vons. I can't seem to find much on my typical grocery list: Goat Milk Kefir/Yogurt, Wallaby Sour Cream, peeled garlic, beets, red peppers, etc. The prices for chips, avocados, and other produce items are outrageous. However, they have redeemed their lack of items with an exceptional Wine Club discount. You purchase a variety of 6 bottles and get a whopping 40% off! That is incomparable elsewhere and will only last until the end of the March, but beats any market promotion available currently. The store is very clean, organized and wait time in cashier line is short. At least there is a Dollar Store nextdoor to make up the difference for paying out the wazoo for everyday items. High recommend for promotions that allow one to entertain many with a limited budget. read more

There is always a long line, doesn't matter what time it is. They always have 2 to 3 checkers closed & you wait 20 minutes even in express to checkout. They are seriously understaffed & badly managed. Don't go here if you are in a hurry or mind waiting 20 plus minutes just to check out. read more
