At first they delivered the wrong po boy I asked for chicken not shrimps but when I said something they immediately fixed the issue and got me the correct po boy! My server Alannah was awesome always checking to see if I needed anything! The wings were so good and they had a special going on today for $1.25 per wing. Last they bring out these hot rags but at first they looked like mint, I asked my server what was that? She said once I pour the hot water over it then it opens to nice warm refreshing towels! My husband and I went in this evening, as our third visit. In the previous visits I found the service great, the food tasty(even though over priced) and the atmosphere pleasant and refreshing. This evening we went specifically to try the fried chicken. We have found the fried green tomatoes great, so thought the chicken would be the same. My husband doesn't like white meat, so we ordered all dark meat. Very disappointing to get a $4 up-charge to change to dark meat, which converts to less meat. The thighs were over crispy and cut in a manner to have a small amount of thigh meat and also much of the backbone in the cut. However, the action which is driving my 2 star and why I will not return is the fact that we received 2 legs, 1 thigh and 1 breast. I kindly told the waiter about and he came back to the table to ask me to place the breast piece on his plate and said he would return with a thigh, which is what happened. Again this thigh was sub- par and cut the same way as the first one. I did ask what he did with the breast he removed and he said he discarded it. And to add, we have to pay an added 18% gratuity to have a waiter throw food in the trash. That really upset my husband and also made me really pause about this restaurant. I have never had that happen and if a mistake happened the incorrect food has been left, as instead of throwing away most restaurants acknowledge it would be thrown away and leave it. No one ever asked, as I would have been happy to take it home to my daughter. So big disappointment paying $35 dollars for 4 pieces of chicken and 2 biscuits and to have a waiter say he disposed of food that could have been eaten. I would also like to know why it costs more to have dark meat, when you actually should pay less due to current market prices for white versus dark meat. I think overall, for this restaurant to continue to be successful, they need to evaluate their value statement and also provide all the courtesies and elite restaurant would, as that is the pricing they are marketing. read more

Man! I really wanted to love this place! I do like the ambiance, but wasn't crazy about the music. The best things were our server, Tony, the drinks, the scalloped potatoes and the Beignets. For apps, we ordered the deviled eggs and the wood-fire oysters. The eggs were just okay and the oysters were small. The seasoning was good on them but the oysters were too small for all the seasoning on them. The Drinks were really good. We ordered the voodoo child and the voodoo smoked old fashioned. Tony was very attentive to make sure that the drinks were the way we wanted them and we ended up having 2. For entrees, we ordered the shrimp and crawfish étouffée with sausage and the Cajun ribeye. I could've done without the sausage. The sides were scalloped potatoes and the charred okra. The étouffée was just okay. There was barely any crawfish in it and not enough rice to soak up the sauce. The ribeye wasn't bad, it was tasty. The scalloped potatoes were some of the best I've tasted in a while. But the okra...it was to salty and barely cooked and unfortunately did a number on my stomach. They took it off the bill. We ordered the monkey bread, but the manager said that it wasn't made to his liking to be served so that's why we ended up with the beignets and I did not regret it. They were so delicious. I've never been to New Orleans so I couldn't compare the food to it, but I was told that I shouldn't compare it because it's not the same. The vibe of this place is rad and unique. We were worried because we rolled up right when they opened. They were welcoming and quick to show us around and seat us no problem. The food was great. Voodoo Bayou is the first restaurant that has made me understand why someone might be a "regular" at a place. Before coming here, I'm not sure I've loved a place enough to go there more than once in awhile. Or if I did, I probably couldn't afford going more than a few times a week. Enter - Voodoo Bayou. I came during their second week of operations at their Orlando location. I ordered just a few small bites. It's been awhile so I can't recall but probably some of the oysters, the cornbread, and a few signature cocktails. While I can't remember the specific items I ordered, but I do remember is that every single one of them wasn't just good, it was great. I also remember that I came back a few nights later with some friends, and the bartender remembered us, remembered our drink preferences, and offered to make a different take on the old-fashioned we previously had. Because I had a great experience at the bar, learned about their membership program, and so I decided to try it out for a month to see if it was for me. I'm convinced there's no better value than a Voodoo Bayou membership, if you're visiting at least once a month. This place is legit. We've probably averaged going once a week over the past few months, and I've never grown tired of anything I've had. We tried brunch for the first time last weekend and I made a point to talk to the GM about my positive experiences. This entire recap could be summed up in what I told him: " This place is the first restaurant that has compelled me to come back over and over again. I can tell you why right now, without a doubt. Where do I begin about this review everything from the moment that you walked in your immersed in a New Orleans themed environment, where New Orleans comes to life and you have the unique decorations throughout the restaurant that are actually brought from different parts of New Orleans and craft it to have a feel of New Orleans. Our server Tony was excellent. We really enjoyed his company and him walking us through the menu to explore different food options for each of us. I got the Cajun pasta, which was absolutely amazing and I got a side of the cajun fries, which were very tasty and crispy and came in a unique basket. I paired it with their signature that comes in an Elvira cup. we got to check out the speakeasy before we left and it was absolutely amazing once you walk in your immersed a beautiful almost cemetery vibes with lots of flowers, beautiful flowers, and a water fountain. Can't wait to come back to try more food options and also check out the speakeasy to have a drink or maybe even dine in the speakeasy room. It was absolutely beautiful. We can't wait to bring friends and hopefully host a Yelp event here in the future. They are selling atmosphere. The place is very cool looking. Love the vibe and is clean. There is way too much staff on hand for the service we received, but the food is not that good. Our server was pleasant and great with keeping our drinks full. Our biscuit came out first with our salad. Biscuit was too dry and kinda hard for me. I used most of the honey butter just for 1 biscuit. The peas salad was outstanding, fresh, and small for a dinner salad. The crayfish etoufee was not that spicy. The roasted chicken was juicy, and the bones were removed, so that is a nice touch. The rice was cooked nice, and the greens were salty. The scalloped potatoes were burnt, and the cream had separated a bit. Our monkey bread came with ice cream, which they brought out right away but had almost melted by the time the waitress checked on us. We told her we never got the bread. I want to start by saying that our service and server was absolutely fantastic!! I was also to see that both managers were friendly, sincere, and rectified our issues immediately! My friends and I were so excited to meet here for dinner! We had a reservation and were seated immediately after we arrived. We were impressed by the decor and the vibe. There were 3 of use and we each got something to share. The devil eggs were delicious. They were different from any other deviled egg I have had before. I would recommend. The BBQ shrimp were amazing! The bread that came with it was the perfect vessel to dip into the flavorful sauce. The oyster rockerfeller were grea too, but my least favorite of the three. It went down hill from there. I had the oster po"boy with red beans and rice. The red beans and rice were ice cold. I did something that I have don't usually do, I sent it back. As I waited, I took a bite of my sandwich, but was quickly disappointed, as the fried oysters were soggy. Because I just retuned the rice, I didn't want to be a pain and return the po'boy too. My friend had the salmon and it had a hair in it. She sent it back and the manager came right away to offer apologies and offer something else instead. She declined. Last was beignets for dessert. They were undercooked! Another manager now came and apologized and even went as far as to go back make them himself. The second time, they were cooked to perfection. Maybe it was just a bad night, but overall, I did leave disappointed in the meal as a whole, especially because for me alone my bill was almost $100. The restaurant looks great, but there's a lot to be desired. I must have been one of the unlucky ones because service was lackluster the day I went. Our server was slow, and since it wasn't busy, all of the servers kept hanging out near the line. One of my dining companions asked for sauce during the meal and it took her close to 10 minutes. I wouldn't have minded that if it was actually busy. I didn't like the waffle for the chicken n waffles, but it's more of a preference. I got charged more for all dark meat. The pasta was good, but definitely overpriced. The beignets were kinda hollow. After enjoying Roka Hula, we had high hopes for the restaurant next door. The theming was nice, not sure what the stage is for, as there was no entertainment on a Sunday but, the food was way overpriced and not memorable. I've made better jambalaya, and for $32 it was subpar. My husband got a chicken Cobb salad that was meh and didn't have enough dressing. My mother in law didn't finish her carbonara but she didn't seem impressed either. I'd stay away from the dishes we got. The Cajun ribeye is $57 so, may as well spend the money on that over what we got for the ticket price. Service was great, wine and whiskey and bourbon choices were great, cocktails were great so, I'd say go to the bar for drinks! Also, I cannot stand a a fork dish if I'm supposed to use my fingers to take the tail off a shrimp. I understand some people do this but, I'd recommend taking the tails off for the jambalaya. Leave that for shrimp cocktail. The oysters were fine. I would love to but, will not come back to eat here unless some price changes were made, as in $18 for the jambalaya not $32, and other options were more affordable. Love going to voodoo Bayou. I know I'm not remembering the name correctly but it's something like the poor man's caviar or something like that and I add steak. It's phenomenal and creamy and consistent. The wait staff all work together whether they're your server or not and it's near flawless. Sitting at the bar is always a fun experience as the bartenders really get into making their fancy drinks and they're always delicious. The decorum is incredible And I look forward to going back. I was invited to a family and friends opening for this restaurant that I also had no idea about. They haven't done much marketing, but there has been tons of word-of-mouth and despite the lack of marketing, I have to say I was completely blown away. The drinks were pretty cute and beautiful decorated glasses. The food was season, so well presentation was amazing the Attention to detail for Gotham and New Orleans decor was phenomenal and they do have a little secret speakeasy that hasn't been opened yet, but I cannot wait to enjoy. We had a server named Kyle and he was absolutely amazing. I was able to try the catfish, which was delicious and got to order a scotch bonnet, pepper house sauce. We also ordered the jambalaya which was beyond flavorful great portion of meat and shrimp. The Cajun meatballs were housemaid And spicy on a bed of grits beyond delicious. I also was able to try the monkey bread which was about the size of my head so please be prepared for the portion size of desserts. Voodoo Bayou definitely gives you a Nawlins vibe in FL!! If you dine here please make sure you make a reservation on OpenTable because the wait times can get up to 1 1/2 hours on the weekends. You can also dine at the bar area, but that's first come, first serve. If you would like to partake in the speakeasy that's reservation only! So plan accordingly! Parking was crowded, because they share a parking lot with Ruth Chris Steakhouse. They do offer valet if you can't find parking. Now on to the food and drinks!! I'm a huge bourbon/whiskey fan and their smoked old fashioned was sooo good!! I tried the chargrilled oysters and they were yummy. I just wish they gave you more for the price. The biscuits were delicious Plus the deviled eggs were delicious as well. The gumbo was delicious and you knew someone made some good rue for it! We were gifted some beignets to try and they are made from scratch in the morning. So they were very delicious!! I forgot I wasn't in Louisiana for a second. The owner was very nice and friendly!!
