I stopped by the Shrimp Basket on Davis Highway to pick up a shrimp basket for my mother and ordered the grouper sandwich for myself. First, I want to give credit where it's due. The young lady at the counter was extremely friendly, engaging, and had excellent customer service skills. She took the time to answer my questions about the menu, and when my grouper sandwich was accidentally left out of my order, she immediately checked with the kitchen and got it taken care of. She represented the restaurant very well. Unfortunately, the food itself was a disappointment. When I got to my car, I looked at the sandwich and honestly thought they had forgotten the fish because all I could see were the buns. After opening it, I found only three very small pieces of grouper, about the size of silver dollars. For a sandwich that cost around $16, I expected a full grouper filet or at least a much more substantial portion. The flavor was fine, but the value simply wasn't there. The amount of fish compared to the size of the bun made the sandwich feel overpriced, underwhelming and an afterthought. Great customer service deserves recognition, but I hope management takes a closer look at the quality and portion sizes. A grouper sandwich should actually look and feel like a grouper sandwich, especially on the Gulf Coast! read more

My husband and I love eating at Shrimp Basket on Davis Hwy. The food and service is always great. We had a young lady named Kaylynn that waited on us and she was great. I do have a problem though with a young lady that chastised another worker in front of all the patrons. Rather than talk to her in private to tell her what she was doing wrong she was very loud and used an ugly tone. We were sitting about halfway in the room and could hear everything andthe way she said it was very inappropriate.I believe the young lady's name was Brooklyn that was doing the chastising. This was a cute spot in Pensacola. I came here with my Family who is very picky and sometimes they can embarrass you in a restaurant. I was glad they were just as happy as I was with the presentation and taste of the food. I ordered a combo which consist of fried catfish and fried shrimp. The catfish was nice and crispy and so were the shrimp. Both were seasoned pretty good and tasted really good. The hush puppies and corn fritters were also really good, I wish they had more than one corn fritter with the combo. I ordered a mai tai and I was not a fan of my drink. The mixture was way off. Here's your Acme beach-side seafood restaurant. Right on the strip, right in the mix. If you're expecting super fresh, coastal shrimp and goodies, not so much. Fries were seasoned well and they have all the standards, but it doesn't hit for Foodies. This is all about "convenience mode" and how it looks on paper and proximity to beach amenities. Service was simple, bathrooms were gross; but beer was cold and there's a meal deal that looked appealing. New to the area and stopped in because I was craving steamed shrimp. I didn't get the waitresses name but she was working her butt off as she was handling all the tables. Kudos to her for having a positive attitude and still attentive to each guest. I downloaded the app and got a free queso and chips. That wasn't my favorite but wasn't there for that. Just had dinner with our buddy skipper on the patio. Let me say that I highly recommend this place. Let's start with Anna R. our server. She made sure skipper our puppy was comfortable, got a heater working because on this day it was about 56 outside... she recommended some items as we explained that we are returning to CA by car and while we we're here last week on our way to PSL, we opted to visit upon our return home. Wifey had the redfish.... Loved it. I had the country cowboy... smash burger. Mowed that down.... Ok skipper had some. I also had onion straws, which I found unique and flavorful, and she had the fish dip. Something we have discovered while here. The margarita was tasty. Beer is cold. Could not ask for better food or service. But seriously, it's starts with the warm greeting and kind service. We lucked out finding this spot. Order the sweet potato fries (I meant to but didn't!) as they were perfect! Had key lime pie and funnel cake fries for dessert. Definitely would order the funnel cake fries over the key lime pie, but thought I'd try since we were in Florida and all. My wife and I stopped in today (Sunday afternoon) and got take out. Mistake number 1! That's because we got down the road and realized just how horrible the food actually was! I got the grouper sandwich, which had the fishiest taste I've ever experienced. I literally had to spit it out. My wife got the seafood platter. Her fish also tasted extremely fishy! The oysters were like mush; to the point it made her gag!. We are just praying we don't get food poisoning, as we are traveling several hours today. My husband tried the Garlic Parmesan wings & said they were "the best wings he's ever ate"!! My entree was blackened shrimp tacos that were delicious!!! We are hoping SB keeps the wings & shrimp tacos on their menu! Our server, Madison, was definitely a class act!! She was so friendly, knowledgeable of the new items on the menu as well as very prompt with drink refills.
