Went for St. Paddy's. Service was terrible, we sat and had to wait 40 minutes for a server to even talk to us. Put a food order in, another hour and 35 minutes to get it. We came here for my best friend's 29th birthday. She was the only one under 30 in the group. She lost her ID in the River last week and had a valid government issued legal I.D. that was paper and temporary. They denied her entry, refused to let us speak to the manager- this is a garbage establishment. I'd give a zero if it was an option. read more

Went into this establishment yesterday with my certified comfort service animal (dog less than 5lbs). They told me the dog would be allowed as long as he was doing his service animal duties such as not letting others pet him and such. They also told me they recommended him not be in there after 9pm because of potential noise levels. I was in there at 8pm and they kicked us out and said my dog walked away from me 10 feet...how is that possible with a 5 foot leash??? It took a handful of bouncers about 6 feet tall to kick my service dog and myself out! They have no respect for service animals or veterans. So sad! read more

Went in for the 1st time ever. Nice place, noticed the VW at the entrance. It was happy hour 4:30pm 10/21/19. Asked for a well whiskey and Diet Coke should have been $4.00. The bartender lady gave me a Jack & Diet instead. I payed with a $20 bill because I did not have any $10s in my wallet. Had just pulled money from the ATM all $20. When I get my change back it's only $5.50 and I gave a $1 tip. I asked the bartender if it was still happy hour prices. And she said yes. I replied that I had received the wrong change but she incited I gave her $10.00 bill. And she says I payed with a $10.00 bill repeatedly. I am certain because I had no 10s in my wallet. I haven't been here in a while, but this bar has always been a fun place to hang out. I guess since today is a slow Wednesday, the bouncer was bored and decided to start being creepy. Tonight, the fat short white bearded bouncer berated my group of friends. Because of him, me, as well as many others feel so uncomfortable here now. He was rude, confrontational, harassing us, and in our business for no reason. I don't understand why a good place like voodoo would have a bouncer that follows a group of girls around on a quiet Wednesday night. Probably the first racist experience I've ever had to go through in my life. While I was using the restroom I was washing my hands while the bathroom attendant was in there and a girl that was trying to fight someone in the stall came out trying to fight us and I was the one that was escorted for being too close to some Caucasian women that was uncomfortable looking for problems. Got there at about 8:45 on a Saturday, it was super chill, jazz music playing, and almost empty. Supper cool for those just trying to chill and have a drink or 2. At about 9:30-10:00 they took all the barstools away and the music turned to hip-hop and party music and the crowd started to show and it was just a BLAST! Native Houstonian who's never been to voodoo hut before: the atmosphere is fun and inviting. The bartenders are fast, nice and get it right, every time. The best part about the entire night was Prestige Hookah though. I wanted it because I've had it before however everyone else in my group had never tried it. Ramsey set us up, and explained to everyone what to do and what it all was about. I had such an amazing night enjoying my hookah while all my friends (and strangers lol) also got to experience it to the first time. We will be back. A great hangout spot for the weekend! It's a very diverse crowd; you'll find people of all ages and ethnicities there, but primarily college students. They mostly play trendy rap music so everyone's always dancing. They just expanded the outdoor patio, so there's tons of space, seating, and games to play out back. Out of all the bars in the area, Voodoo is the most popular, so it gets packed in there lol There's never an issue with parking or traffic since they have so many lots out there as well! read more

Went with a friend to try some crawfish because she said the crab clusters were really good! Even more exciting that our server, Chrissy, mentioned they had a Mother's day special for 5 lbs of crawfish for $15. Sounded like such a great deal that I didn't even bother to ask how much the add-ons and Fire butter cost. The size I got was pretty decently sized that for our second order, I didn't need an extra. I usually wouldn't mind the extra charge except that I'm seeing now that it was almost $4 per butter. Definitely request your itemized receipt, especially if you're paying cash. You don't usually get a receipt unless you request one and our server rounded up to the nearest tenth on the bill (said it was $140! Hope you enjoyed your extra tip, I guess..) It was quite misleading being told that the crawfish was actually $20 for 5, and I don't mind paying the difference but lying about it for what? Probably could have gotten an even higher tip instead. Also, note that if you ask for a water, they don't offer you fountain, instead just charge for a bottle. And they don't offer free refills on fountain drinks anyways (got charged for 2 sweet teas, should have just gotten beer at that point). read more

I walked in and the bartender was talking to a group of men, some looked in my direction, she didn't acknowledge me at all. She carried her conversation for five minutes. (I timed her), after that I got up from my bar stool and went behind the group of men she was talking to, and asked her when she has time if I can be served. She gave me an annoyed look, continued her conversation for no more than 30 seconds, then proceeded to serve me in a very ill manner. I could understand if the bar was busy but my first time here I had a GREAT experience, last night which was my second, it was horrible.
