Context: I took my family to check out the Kemah Boardwalk while staying in Seabrook for travel. We walked around the boardwalk and struck up quite a hunger for dinner. We had walked by this place on our way to the boardwalk and noticed a sign for seafood boil pots for only $11.99. What a deal. My son was very interested in getting some crab legs and seafood so we decided to give this place a shot. Kids are not allowed inside the main establishment but families were welcomed to sit out on the patio and still enjoy the drink and food menu. It was a nice enough day so we didn't hesitate to grab a seat. Service: The patio was a little bit in disarray at first and you seat yourself so it took a moment to find a server but when we did find one, she was friendly and great with the kids. Very considerate and helpful and made sure we had plenty of water to drink out in the heat. Food and drink: The menu had a decent variety to it - sandwiches, salads, burgers, wings, and seafood pots. I still couldn't believe the price. Normally, you'd sink $25+ dollars for a seafood pot. The sizes looked smaller than what you might normally get but for a kid and my wife, it was plenty of food when paired with a side of french fries. A good mix of shrimp, crab, corn, and potatoes. The seasoning spice and crab sauce on it was amazing, highly addictive. I kept dipping fries into it, so good. I went a different route and tried the What-Tha-Cluck chicken sandwich. Probably one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life. Greasy, cheesy, flavorful, so damn good. Wow. I almost ordered a second just to have a couple more bites. Price: Prices were a steal here. $11.99 for seafood pots, sandwiches for under $7, and huge portions of sides for only $3. We ate like kings and paid like peasants here. Great food and service as well so great bang for your buck. My consensus: This is a must stop while visiting the Kemah Boardwalk area. Walk around to see the sites, watch the dolphins play in the bay, and when you're hungry, come to the garden of the Voodoo Hut to eat. Worth the visit.

First of all, I know it's not kid friendly at night but the waitress was so sweet and even though we were the only ones outside they didn't forget about us and were friendly. The food was AMAZING, I got the boil and was not disappointed! For the price it was a great deal and the seasoning was DELISHHHH.

Garrett and Jewel chased out our friends this evening. It was very disgusting think before going to this establishment if you are a family trying to celebrate together. Our dear family friend had to travel to MD Anderson in Houston and after years of cancer treatments, she felt safe and positive enough to bring her grandchildren, daughter and son in law to have a good time. Which is usually a very hard visit because of testing. My friend has suffered from years of vigorous chemotherapy which sometimes caused her to have seizures. So after many years she is finally seeing the sunshine again and was excited to have a family night and mistakingly chose this restaurant and wanted to have a tour of the boardwalk. They traveled all the way north of Dallas and were treated HORRIBLY!!!!!!!! A person opened the gate to the play area so they decided to let their grandson - a toddler go play while they were close by and enjoying each other's company. After their food came out the waitress came to notify them that if they touched the gate to the play area they would have to close out their tab. First of all they didn't open the gate and THEY WERE DRINKING SWEET TEA?? Then some people came out and had their phone on speaker calling the police and asking for an officer to come remove them because they were refusing to leave? When my friend went to him and said she was confused, because no one had said that to them. The guy raised his voice and said THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION! Apparently this person was Garrett Messman, a bartender, Jewel and some teenager. HOW DARE YOU!!! In front of 2 small children and a group of 4 adults who have worked their a$$ off to fight cancer longer than you've been employed at this place. How dare you ruin their first positive experience in this area. After a mom fighting for her life celebrating with her oldest daughter who has struggled to keep the family together and strong and her 2 babies she's raising wondering if her mom will see their next birthday! Sir, you have no idea how you impacted this finally positive trip to the Houston area!!! You are disgustingly selfish. I worked many years myself in the service industry at Rudy's BBQ and never -- even with the most belligerent customer ever treated someone with this disrespect! Although I reside in the North Dallas area, large portions and generations of my family are from Galveston, Channel view and Baytown area. I will do all that I can to let them know about the lack of respect you have for your patrons. Your lack of respect and customer service for any visitors will be your demise if you keep Garrett and Jewel on staff!

Atmosphere:5/5 Food:4/5 Drinks:4/5 Service:4/5 This place was pretty neat! My wife and I came here around 6pm on New Year's Eve and we loved the unique theme and decor inside. Our friend recommended we have the shrimp tacos here so it was our prime destination before the fireworks. The shrimp tacos were great, I ate all 3 I ordered. I did wish they would have added a little more slaw and sauce because the shrimps are huge and the ratios were a bit off. Nonetheless, I'd order them again and just ask for a bit more sauce.;) We also enjoyed a nice appetizer of the chips & queso. It came with a little cup of salsa too. The salsa is nothing to right home about but the queso...omg yum! There was none left after we devoured it. For a drink, I ordered the mango mambo (I think that's what it's called). It was so good that I got 2...oops.:) My wife tried it and really liked it too! They had a live band that was really good and enjoyable to listen to as well... I assume that they usually do have live bands on weekends but I'm not sure. Also, the place is massive with tons of seating inside and a nice patio out back. We will definitely be back!!

    Is the outside dog friendly?

I've seen patrons with their fur babies outside in the garden area.

Is it only 21 and up? Or 18 and up?

    Is there a cover fee?

    No!

What's the dress code? Are you able to wear shorts?

Weird question....but what brand is the outdoor "Connect Four" game they have there?

We came here recently for a Sunday lunch. Fortunately, there were only a handful of patrons here when we arrived (around 11:30). Within 30 minutes, the dining room was full, and we couldn't hear each other talk. I remember experiencing the same thing when this joint was known as Opus Bistro several years ago. Despite the noise, the dining room still offers an excellent view of the canal and the people pulling up on their boats. Again, the food here is OK. Nothing more. In fact, it was quite reminiscent of a Fertita-owned restaurant with lines of delivery trucks from Sysco and Gordon's lined up at the loading dock. More specifically, the coconut shrimp came out crispy with not much flavor beyond the cloyingly sweet sauce served alongside. The fries are battered. Not my bag, though they arrived at the table hot and crispy. (Since when do crispy fries need batter?!?) The tacos were average. Not bad, but nothing different than you would get at most other places. Same with the Caesar salad and crispy Brussels sprouts. The crab bisque tasted tomatoey. That's not a deal breaker, but I expect a garlicky, buttery broth that has been thickened with heavy cream. Not the case here, as this was flour-thickened with inexpensive ingredients. And the amount of crab was negligible. Those *are* deal breakers. The beer selection is fine here. And, again, the service was really good on our visit. Bottom Line: I totally want local businesses to succeed. But my money is also hard-earned, and I want the food to taste local and to be made with high-quality ingredients. When it doesn't -- and this place doesn't -- I might as well grab a Groupon and go to Red Lobster.

Michael our server was top notch and paid attention. Timing and delivery were spot on. Only gripe is that their by the glass sparkling wine is definitely a prosecco not champagne. Also they were out of Gulf Oysters which they offer at a great price. The other option is a significantly smaller and more expensive northern oyster that pales in comparison to a big Gulf oyster. The food: 2 of my companions ordered crab cake entrees and they were the best crake cake we have ever had. I was stealing off their plates the entire time. Even the remoulade was note-worthy. Best crab cake in the Houston area, hands dawn. Also it came with carrots. I thought CARROTS? They were out of this world. Everyone ate all their carrots. I ordered the red snapper etouffee and it was delicious. I would have preferred it with a little bed of pasta or rice than the mashed potato but the fish and shrimp were perfectly prepared. It was a delicious entree and perfectly cooked. The complimentary bread is very good. Crusty, warm excellent butter. I would have left 5 stars had it not been for the oysters and the "prosecco". Other than that, it was worth the money, had excellent service, and I highly recommend.

We had a party of nearly 30 people, and there were two other large parties in the same dining room, and it wasn't crowded. Great room for a group event! Windows all around, nice scenery of the marina and trees. This dining room also opens up to a large patios overlooking the water, trees, etc. It was a really pretty. A piano player played live music as we dined, took photos and took turns sharing kind words about the birthday girl. All of that was the best part. The service was just okay. I'd give it a 6.5/10. They were timid and didn't move quickly. What I did appreciate is that they had two main servers plus two floater guys who just kept refilling water and bringing bread and straws. These guys were the real superstars. The food... eh. I took out my Yelp menu vision and read the reviews, and nothing really seemed like it was going to be good. I settled on the Oysters Rockefeller and a cup of gumbo. The oysters came out hard and dry, but we'd waited so long that I ate them. 5/10. The gumbo was just so-so. 5.5/10. Everyone around me said the same thing. Someone got the loaded shrimp scampi and set it back because it was completely tasteless. Others got the shrimp and grits and other entrees. When asked about how they were, everyone said, "Ehhh, you know... it's all right. Not that good, but not terrible either. Just okay." That was the consensus across the 30-person group. BUT there were two items the ladies said were actually good: the wedge salad and the salmon. Those who chose those items had a great meal!

And for my first time, this was a really great experience! First the negatives. The time it takes to get your food is extremely long and the place even on a weekday is still packed (personally, there was someone at another table constantly bumping into me). But if you can get over that, this place is absolutely insane. The fish dishes we got had the largest fried fishes I've ever seen, the fried batter was so light and airy, and the flavor of the fish was just extremely fresh and well made. I prefer the cod to the haddock due to its cleaner taste and more break apart texture, but both are really good. The shepherd's pie I got was also really good, with a lot of different spices and filling with a really nice and light crust. The only dish we got that I was a little bit skeptical about was the fried shrimp, which was good, but nothing too too special. Last two things. Our waitress was SO nice and very welcoming. She made the long wait not feel like an issue on her part, but rather just the cook time for our meal. Lastly, the sticky toffee pudding was absolutely elite. So rich and moist, as well as perfectly sweet and nicely portioned for around 2 people. An excellent cap to this overall incredible experience.
