I've heard great things about this place, but our experience was just ok. 3 stars seems generous, but I didn't hate it. . We visited last Monday evening when kids eat for 99 cents, so maybe it was busier than usual. There were 3 parties ahead of us. The ordering process seems a little tedious for this type of service, especially for a business lunch rush, but we were in no hurry. We stood in line for about 10 minutes. Littles were getting antsy. Due to the wait, we had plenty of time our decisions before we got to the front and hoped to get our party through and not hold up the line further, as now there were several parties behind us as well. Little placed their orders (pb banana taco and smash taco) and then it was time for us. My husband ordered his barbacoa taco, some chips and queso that the cashier recommended and then a craft beer from the chalk board. She informed us that they are out of most of those beers. She tries to keep that sign turned off but someone keeps turning it on. He ended up with a basic Bud Light. I ordered the shrimp taco and was told they ran out much earlier today (the way she said it made it sound like I should have known better). I ordered the Mahi Mahi taco instead with a margarita. The wait once we ordered was 5 minutes or so- enough time for the kids to fill their drink cups and wait a few more minutes. All of our food did not come out at once - something they need to work on. Food was fresh and tasty, the sauces we chose were just right and the kids liked their meals as well, in fact they ordered a second smash taco (fried cheese quesadilla) to split. The margarita was good too. The queso was ok, but not "amazing" as I had heard. We will try a different side next time, just to experiment. The tacos are on the small side so if you want to fill up, plan on ordering more than one taco, or adding sides. We went back to order dessert, but the cashier informed us that most desserts on the lighted menu behind the counter haven't been available since she started working there. Another disappointment. The decor is funky urban (I love the Reclaimed Wood accents). Seems like they have a few kinks to work out, but we will give it another try soon. I'm struggling with the rating here - I have had a couple experiences and am always disappointed with the customer service. The staff that work, just do not seem to care. My recent experience was very frustrating - I showed up at about 9:05ish and waited for a good 5+ minutes before anyone even acknowledged me and it was the guy who appeared to be the manager cleaning the tables. Someone came out from the kitchen and he spoke to him and then let me know someone would be with me soon. He then headed to the counter and I asked how late they were open and he said he was closing up in about 15 minutes - I said, okay I would go somewhere else because I was looking for somewhere that I wouldn't feel rushed in eating here. Pinpoint has this location open until 11 on Saturdays. He then became a little aggressive with the sale saying I could stay and no one was going to rush me out, I said I would go somewhere else, he then tried to get me to get something to go and I was like, no I will just go somewhere else. read more

Today I returned to Voodoo taco after a semi-decent trip last time. The cashier was weird but I won't judge. My to-go order took 13-15 minutes which seemed like forever since I was starving but that's alright. I ordered the breakfast taco and carnitas tacos and I was happier than I was before. The breakfast taco tasted as usual like I remembered and I was pleased, bacon could be more plentiful since I enjoy lots of bacon. THEN THE REAL WINNER: the carnitas were outstanding. I like how they didn't have any sauce in the meat so I could mix and match sauces for different bites. I loved the lime addition, I usually hate that but it added a nice acidity. It was outstanding and the meat was perfect. My only complaint was my food was on the colder side when I got home and I live super close. I would just shut up and microwave it but you can't microwave lettuce. As for the price they will always be on the pricier side for me since I am a college kid but overall decent. I think I will be back, the food was better than last time. I will for sure put this in my back pocket for when I'm feeling tacos! thank you guys! read more

Why did I wait so long to try this place?! So far I've tried the Mahi Mahi, the Pork Carnitas and the Ghost Pork which is by far my favorite so far. It's hot but not melt your face off hot. If you like spicy don't be scared of the ghost pepper ;) The flavor is great and leaves a pleasant a warm burn in your mouth. The Pin Heads are amazing too. Deep fried corn on the cob sprinkled with cheese and a chipotle aioli sauce? Yes please. Sauces are free with your order just don't forget to ask for them. My faves are the Aleppo and Dona so far. Only gave 4 stars because it can be a bit pricey to get filled up (about 3 tacos in my case) plus a beer will run you $20 bucks for just one person. Wish you got more Tacos for the price. read more

Very disappointed. We ordered takeaway. Live 6 minutes away from the restaurant but when we got home all of our food was stone cold and just looked a hot mess. They also forgot all of our sauces. They did offer to remake our food and included extra sauces when we returned. That is appreciated but still not a great experience. The food wasn't anything great when we finally sat down for dinner. Just average, and thrown together like the kitchen staff have stopped caring. read more

The overall experience is high quality with a casual place to sit, eat, and enjoy company. The tacos themselves are (as many others have pointed out) a bit pricey, but you shouldn't need more than 2-3 tacos to be completely full. I've had everything on the menu at this point and adore the avocado taco above all others, best veggie taco I've had that I haven't made myself. Each order comes with a choice of hot sauce provided by a local vendor. The beer selection is better than any order at the counter restaurant I've seen with several craft brews on tap as well as the usual suspects. If you've heard the hype, give a listen. The first time I tried this place out it was awesome...At the 90th St Location. So we decided to try their Location on 67th St., they were super slow and the food was not that good. The tacos were served in a cold flour tortilla not even heated! Yuk! Prices are ridiculous for the ingredients that are put into a taco! tacos should not cost that much! So that maybe it was a fluke so we tried the location at the outlet malls114th St......it was the same old cold overpriced taco! I won't be going back! Too expensive and not that good. read more

Love this place. Out of all their locations my family and I love this one the best. Great tacos, but their margaritas seriously went down the drain. They used to be really good, but now they do a premixed thing out of a tap. Have to get an extra shot of tequila because it just tastes like straight lime juice with zero tequila. I get that it takes a little time to make a margarita and their staff at the registers are the "bartenders", but c'mon. Mixing your tequila into the mix in the morning makes for weak margaritas later on. read more

The avocado taco was really good. It could have used a little more seasoning but I guess that's really personally preference. The breakfast taco was exactly what was expected. The chips and queso was disappointing. While I liked the chips, the queso tasted like canned cheese and was very bland. It was a waste of almost $6. Horrible service.. This was our second time here, the first time being a year ago. The first time was bad too but thought we would give it another shot seeing how the first time was right when they first opened. I've been to both their NE Crossing location and their food truck, but am really happy that they've opened up another brick and mortar location dangerously close to my house. First things first, the space is a very nice size and I love the decor. Although it still feels casual, it's definitely slightly more upscale and a place I wouldn't mind having a sit-down dinner, although on this visit we go our food to-go. I've had great service on all my other Voodoo visits, and this was no exception. Our cashier was very friendly and gave us some suggestions off the menu, and even suggested corresponding sauces to go with each taco we ordered. Then, while we were waiting for our order, one of the other staff came out of the kitchen and made the rounds with customers, introducing himself and asking how the food was and expressing his excitement for the new location - a nice touch. The one downside is that we waited about 20 minutes for our to-go order - a little long for a casual lunch, but it was their first week, so I'm sure they'll get that worked out. They initially forgot one of our tacos (we didn't notice), but one of the staff ran out after us in the parking lot and let us know, then got the rest of our order all squared away quickly. We noticed when we got home they had forgotten to include the sauces we ordered, which was a bummer, but no biggie - again, first week jitters that will surely be fixed. As for the food, I've tried most of the tacos over time at Voodoo and have liked them all. Great chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso as well! I understand that it was busy, but after seeing many groups who ordered after me get their food first I was getting hangry. We ordered this as take out, and they made 3 errors on our order; they put lettuce on the kids taco when we asked for none, forgot to give us the chips we ordered, and gave us refried beans in the kids taco instead of the black beans we ordered. Queso dip was good, but its hard to mess that up. Chipotle ranch was the best sauce we tried, tomatillo and mild (fire-roasted) were both lacking flavor. read more

Voodoo Taco is AMAZING! I waltzed in here one night after work and immediately fell in love. The staff is awesome. They treated me like family. The general manager, Charice, took excellent care of me and recommended all the amazing foods to try. She's a great manager!! They didn't let me down! It's a cool place that fits in with the Aksarben Village vibe, but the food isn't overly fantastic. The prices are high ($3-5/taco) and the taco size is not overly filling. On the other hand, the nachos are enough for two people and there are a number of sauce options to pick from which are from a local company (the Aleppo is a slightly sweet, slightly hot sauce that I highly recommend). There is a "taco of the month" as well, but again, the cost/size ratio is the issue. read more

He stood there and stared at the register instead of saying anything. I offered to pay cash for her order and mine to move things along since there was becoming a long line behind us. The lady kept asking him if she could write a check instead and he seemed mute, he wouldn't answer her! She finally wrote a check and the guy accepted it. I ordered pulled pork nachos and asked for "no peppers". Counter person stopped everything and went back to the kitchen and took forever apparently telling them "No peppers". He said it would take only 5 minutes for a "to-go" order. 20 minutes later, I was still waiting. Order finally came. Got the nachos home. Absolutely tasteless. I ordered beignets. Our third time here and it was a downer. Took our order and went to get our drink and the hostess walked back to the kitchen and the hostess was fed up with people ordering food. She look over and didn't realize I was there listening to her. Next our order came and my wife and I had the steak fajita tacos. Tasted good except there was a lot of gristle in our tacos. I had one large piece and she had three pieces. You would expect to be able to eat the whole taco since that is the only one you get for $4 each. Portion size is generous, the chips had a cajun seasoning, the queso tasty and overall a good value. If you chose to dine in, you order at the counter, get a number and wait for your food to be brought to your table. (Like Paradise Cafe etc.) Overall a solid quick eats place. read more
