My regular barber wasn't in and I don't really care for the other barbers at the shop I've been going to for 10 years. I needed a cut that day so I decided to try another shop. I read some Yelp reviews on this place so I decided to give it a try. Wow!! What a great shop! Met the owners. Very nice people with great customer service skills. Ian took care of me. I didn't really know how to explain what I wanted cause I've been getting cut by the same guy for 9 years so I haven't explained it in a long time. He said he would just follow what he saw and when he was done I could swear my hair was cut by my regular barber! I'm pretty picky about my haircuts that's why I go to the same person for years. This V's is close to my house so I'll probably start coming here for my cuts and I'll make sure Ian is my barber. Great job! read more

After having to use a different barber every time I went in cause they had such a high turn over in staff I finally found one I liked. Made an appointment to get a haircut, show up only to be told that he was no longer there. No one called to cancel or change my appointment. Was placed on hold for 5 minutes to get two appointments with Liz. When I went in they double booked me and my son so I had to get another barber who did a great job just a little to short. My son showed Liz a picture to follow with the sides 1/2 long and 1 1/2 long on top. She pulled out the shaver and cut it to a 1/4 all the way up and then cut the top to 1/2 long. My boy is in High School and came home crying. You can't fix STUPID or a shitty hair cut. Looks nothing like the picture and in Six weeks it might be right. My husband and I took our son for a haircut. He was in need of one badly, we had to grow it out for 2 months after his last cut was just awful! My son is only 2 and he felt comfortable enough to sit on his own, the barber took his time and made sure it was a clean cut. My husband really likes his haircut too. We will be back!! I've been a customer of Mr V's for about 3 years now and have generally been happy with my haircuts. About 6 months ago I decided to have my hair cut down to about 1/8" - getting rid of my long hair and ponytail. I typically get an appointment with anyone and that's worked for me until the last cut. The barber I got the other day seem uninterested (I guess a buzz cut didn't challenge him) and not attentive. I had a hearing aid in my right ear (the kind that part goes over the ear and there is a very thin wire that attaches to the in-ear part). My fault - I forgot to take it out. He ran the clippers over my ears and cut the wire in half. As I said, my fault to forgetting to take it out (and $195 later). What bugged me, he didn't say he was sorry, just handed me the over ear piece, and proceeded to finish the job. He gave a lackluster haircut, a lackluster massage, didn't ask about my eyebrows, ear hair (yes, we old farts have ear hair), and didn't do a full razor shave to clean up the cut. He just didn't seem to be interested. I still gave a tip but am rethinking using Mr. V's again based on this and other problematic occurances. read more

Another great hair-cut by Joe (Jose). Worth the long drive. The family that runs this barbershop are good folks. They are a bit pricey for a simple trim/haircut but, it seems everything is overpriced in Gilbert. Well maybe. If you want to get all the traditional bells and whistles offered in a "up-scale" shop, you can here. Just be ready to pay for it! These guys are the best barbershop in Arizona. Once you walk in, you feel like you are at a spa for men. I love getting a nice straight edge once in a while, but since going to V's, I go twice a month now because it is so relaxing to just sit back and relax and go home with a smooth head. I guess that is what women experience when they go to the spa. They even do beard trims there as well which add to the experience. Throw in a quick massage at the end and you have yourself a relaxing 45-60 minutes of your day. read more

I have been a Gentleman Joe's guy for a very long time. I found this place when we went to the Fox Cigar Bar which is next store. Every time we would go, these two guys would come out of the barber shop and talk to us and try to get our business. We always talked with them for a minute, laughed and joked around then went on our way. I finally decided to give them a try. My experience with Liz was horrible. I gave her instructions on what I wanted. Liz paid no attention to my instructions and cut my hair the way she wanted. I know that my hair will grow back out but when asked how you want your hair cut and the barber ignores your instructions it's time to change barbers. I would not recommend Liz at all. read more

It was my 1st visit. I went for a $50 haircut and shave. 1st the barber cut my hair completely with clippers. He never touched a pair of scissors. He rushed through the haircut in record time. I think it took 10 minutes tops. The hot towel treatment was nice. It was the only thing I don't have any gripes about. The shave. Where do I start. The worst shave I have ever received in my life. I have received many back in New York. I assume the man is a licensed barber. In New York you cannot handle a strait razor without being one. I realized something wasn't right when he started taking little 1/2" swipes with the blade. He performed the whole shave like that. It took forever i'm guessing around 1/2 hr. That was just the shave not the prep or follow up. Now I knew why he rushed the haircut. After he was all done I felt my face expecting it to be as smooth as a babies ass. I had stubble everywhere. Cheeks and neck. I could do a better job in 5 minutes with a safety razor. I asked the man at the desk if he was new and he told me no he has been there for over a year. Then I asked him if he has had any other complaints about that barber. He replied no again. On behalf of the establishment they did offer to give me a free return visit or a refund. I declined both. The man worked for his money even if it was lousy work. Also if this was one of their accomplished barbers there was no reason for me to make a return visit. My business partners recommended this place to me while in town. I called ahead & was told it was slow. I showed up less than 10 minutes later at 11:15 am. No customers in the shop with 3 barbers standing around. I was told I had to wait until 3 pm! I explained that I had just called & was told again no haircut until 3 pm. "Awesome" customer service. I received confirmation and the whole deal, but now that I came to my appointment it seems that they are actually closed. I have no problem with them closing, actually is very nice that they get the day off, but if they do they need to update the system and don't have people waste their time. read more
