We were sat right away, but that's where the "service" ended. It took 10 minutes before anyone came by and almost 20 minutes before we got drinks. Meanwhile, every Togo order seemed to get priority over the actual dine-in guests. We started with the tofu spring rolls bland and lifeless, tofu had zero flavor. For mains we ordered: Eye round pho Combination pho Tofu vermicelli (way too many onions menu doesn't mention it!) Miso ramen (limited protein options, no spice option) Rib bone combination pho (picture shows a big, meaty rib... reality was a sad little bone with barely anything on it ). The pho broth itself was decent , but the rest was disappointing. Misleading menu pics, weak flavors, and slow service. This place clearly caters to takeout orders over dine-in guests. Overall: 2 stars. The food looked better online than it tasted in person. Not worth coming back.

This place is always consistent delicious. We come here frequently and my favorite this to order is their beef pho. The eggs rolls are the best here and my kids love everything from boba to ramen. Staff is always so welcoming and kind. Always clean snd prices are great.

I've been meaning to eat at this place for a while now. I heard from people I work with that it's a good place but a bit pricey. When you get to the table you can see that they are very clean. The utensils are wrapped individually, the soy sauce are in individual containers too. The service was great, the food was brought to me immediately. I ordered two appetizers, the Vietnamese egg roll and the calamari. I was actually underwhelmed with both appetizers. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The egg roll was crispy but it was lacking flavor, I was looking for that umami flavor that makes you go mmmm. The crispy calamari wasn't crispy and same the breading didn't have a lot of taste to it, the squid was tender though and not rubbery when it's usually over cooked. Now for the main food, I ordered their shaken beef and this one I was very happy with and highly recommend it. The flavor exploded in my mouth. I would definitely go back for the shaken beef and just try other appetizers. Yes it was pricey for 2 appetizers and an entree which totaled to 32.00 compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to but I would still recommend the place.

    Stray metal piece

We love Vy's but found a piece of metal in my pho....only found it because I saw something shiny as I'm drinking broth from the bowl. Thank god I didn't swallow it but it's time to replace those scrub brushes.

This place was SO good that I went two days in a row and ordered the exact same thing! HA! This was my first time having Vietnamese food and I'm so sad that i've been missing out on it for SO long. I left feeling full and satisfied without feeling weighed down. Everything tasted extremely fresh and was presented so beautifully. All of their dishes look like artwork. I ordered the veggie rolls and the Fried Tofu Vermicelli. It was so flavorful and a great vegetarian alternative. Their peanut sauce is SO delicious and added a nice finishing touch to the veggie rolls. I look forward to going back and trying more of their menu. The staff was extremely friendly and so helpful. They took their time explaining the menu to me and made such wonderful recommendations.

One of my favorite pho places! I always get pho tai and a boba tea. They have a huge variety of tea flavors, the best.

Big win for my fellow veg heads too, there are plenty of customizable options which I always appreciate. That said, both my husband's dish and mine felt a little muted. We were chasing that classic Vietnamese fragrance, a little more salt, a little more spice, and ended up doing some DIY with sriracha and extra jalapeños to get there. It definitely wasn't bad by any means, just not quite hitting that craveable level that brings you back the next day.

My husband always orders the spicy filet mignon pho, and it never disappoints. The broth has a nice kick, and the filet mignon is tender and flavorful. I usually like trying something different each visit aside from the spicy pho, and so far I've enjoyed the curry plate with grilled shrimp, sliced grilled pork, Korean BBQ short ribs, shaken beef, and the beef stew. Every dish we've tried has been satisfying, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. The service is always friendly and quick, even when they're busy. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and a nice place to relax for a casual meal.

While the bahn mi isn't exactly traditional, it is still very good -- I'd highly suggest getting it with the pate. The sampler appetizer has a little bit of everything and is great for sharing. Pineapple fried rice was delicious. Pad Thai also great! If you're a spicy eater like me, just go for very spicy. They have 4 spice levels (mild, medium, spicy, very spicy) and this is a reminder to myself to get very spicy next time. Thanks for the delicious meals!

A quick note on seating: the patio is lovely in theory, with the optional open windows and a breezy feel, but the chairs are not winning any comfort awards. Inside booths are the move. Also worth noting, this is Fort Worth, and once the thermometer hits triple digits, the patio conversation ends itself if the windows are open. Plan accordingly. Malai starts every table with steamed sticky rice and an eggplant dip, which is a charming little ritual and a genuinely good one. We also kicked things off with the Edamame, a heads up on the heat level there, and the Fried Imperial Rolls, filled with ground pork and shrimp and served with a sesame soy sauce. Fair warning: these do not photograph well and arrive at the table looking a little shy. Don't be fooled. They're flavorful, subtly spicy, and well worth ordering. For entrees, we tried the Basil Vegetable Fried Rice two ways, one vegan and one with chicken. The vegan version was a genuine surprise, with vegetables cooked just right and a flavor that didn't need the chicken to make its case. The mushrooms, however, had the texture of something you'd find in a hardware store. Chew at your own risk. The Green Curry, meanwhile, was a case of too much of a good thing. The curry was so heavy-handed it drowned everything underneath it. Sometimes restraint is a virtue. Save room for the Banana Pot de Crème. It's creamy, subtly sweet, and a graceful finish to the meal. The service at Malai is enthusiastic, and I do mean enthusiastic. The staff works as a team, all smiles, attentive, always nearby. Occasionally a little too nearby. More than once a plate nearly disappeared before we were done with it. It's a small complaint, and honestly a far better problem than the alternative. They're warm, cheerful, and clearly enjoy what they do, which goes a long way. Portions are generous, so order a few dishes and share the wealth. For a lunch stop between shops, Malai Kitchen punches well above its weight.
