The chicken bowl was great. However I ordered extra chicken on my bowl with a small coke and paid $27.00 the prices here for food are out of control. Not worth it, too expensive for chicken and rice

It's Waba, it's close to work, it's good enough for lunch. Been away for a while due to Panda Inn maybe providing better value, but recently dipping back in to try to be healthier, kinda. Due to less crowd during lunch, I can order and prepare my sauces and get food and walk out in less than 3~5 mins, so this is my go to when I want to quickly be back in the office to eat hot food. Always feel there could be more protein on the plates or bowls, but it is what it is. Maybe just eating less of things is better for me anyway.

This is my second time at this location. I'm glad I spotted this bug in my food before I ate it. I guess they don't wash the Veggies thoroughly or maybe it landed while the Veggies were cooking. Either way, it's unacceptable. I won't be returning.

Food was soooooo delicious. Giving it a 4 star though because the portions were small

Me: Hi, I'd like to order a #3 please. Her: With onions? Me: No, no onions. Her: Ok a #2 no onions, pull up to the window! I knew I should've looked at my order. I know better. Maaaaan onions on everything. Even the orange. Y'all... And this is the third time this has happened to me. And the female manager on duty wouldn't apologize for crap. Unprofessional and apparently lacking in comprehension.

So disgusted with the avocado I was served!

I had 2 choices. Go to the grocery store and pick up something to cook or since I was hungry stop by Waba and grab a bite for my son and I. Well that was in fact a huge mistake! I asked for avocado on my Waba plate and safe to say it's the worst avocado I've ever paid for! I wonder if they themselves would have ate this because it was ok to serve it. At first glance it looked like worms but clearly it's a rotten avocado.

    More meat for less cost.

The last 6 times I've been here, this place has managed to get my order wrong all 100 times!!! I almost need to give them the wrong order for them to get it right. This place keeps getting worse. The sad part is that the employees really don't give a you know what. Why would anyone go here when you can go down the street to YOSHINOYA "Japanese kitchen" and get twice the amount of meat for lower cost? Smh. Shame on you Waba grill!

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! 4.8…read more Hatch is located on the ground level of The Bloc, an open-air shopping center in downtown Los Angeles. The restaurant offers outdoor seating overlooking the lovely green turf and provides tall heaters for cooler evenings. My husband made lunch reservations here and told me it was just a quick 10-15 minute walk from our hotel, The Ritz-Carlton. We crossed a few intersections to get there, and it was well worth the walk. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming host. The ambiance is light and airy, featuring high ceilings, light-colored walls, and light wood furnishings. The overall aesthetic is clean, modern, and very inviting. We stopped in for a late lunch and ordered the "Eggcellent Lunch" prix fixe, which included the following: *Tuna Tataki Handroll ~ seared wild caught tuna, tomato & shallot salsa, rayu chili oil, ponzu, micro cilantro *Seaweed Salad ~ w/minced garlic. Served alongside the Tuna Tataki Handroll *Squid Ink Karaage ~ 2-day brined fried chicken thighs, squid ink, house pickles, grilled lime, black garlic ranch *Chicken Breast Skewer ~ char siu marinade, black sesame *Bacon Shishito Skewer ~ applewood smoked bacon *Chicken Meatball Skewer ~ sous vide egg yolk & tare dip Bottom line, everything had visual appeal and was packed with flavor! If we lived locally, we would definitely return for dinner. I have no doubt the rest of the menu would be just as tasty, and I can only imagine the restaurant coming alive in the evening with a lively crowd, happy diners, and a well-stocked bar.

Here's what we tried: KFC (Korean fried chicken)- very tasty and crispy. Chicken was moist and it came with a sweet/garlic dipping sauce. Plus a side of radish. The Wednesday worker plate had an assortment of meats and a chunk of cornbread, which I thought was a good way to try some of their various offerings. The barbecue chicken consisted of a leg and a wing piece, which i thought was overall fine. The shredded pork was well seasoned and moist, and the hot link pieces were very flavorful. The beef adobo was my favorite as it had a very deep and rich coconut flavor that complimented the meat. The pork ribs were very tender and juicy and had a good meaty pork flavor. The brisket was also good too. Both these meats reheated well later in the day and was still tasty! The cornbread was also exceptional and eating it, I felt it was more like a dessert but also worked well between bites. The cornbread was moist more cakey, and had a very deep sweet coconut flavor. This is the standout. Overall delicious and recommend!

We ordered four of the most ordered and highly revered items: tri tip, coconut beef adobo, smoked gouda mac, and the cornbread bibingka. * Tri tip: Ours was cold and not tender.. wasn't very flavorful either. Kinda tasted like the forgotten order that's been left drying on the counter for some time. The price is decent for an entree of tri tip though. Comes with a horseradish sauce + vinegar and bbq sauce on the side, but I didn't think any of these accompaniments were strong on their own. Made the tri tip better but not by much. * Coconut beef adobo: One of the better items. Beef chunks were melt in your mouth and the sauce was a good middle between savory and vinegary - balanced out by sweetness from the coconut. * Smoked gouda mac: Would not order again. The big shell macaroni noodles were soggy; the cheese sauce was mild in flavor, clumpy and not satisfying melty; lastly, the panko crust was just there and didn't add anything imo. * Cornbread bibingka: The other better dish of the night - very moist, muffin like crumb, and not too sweet or heavy. Portion is on the smaller side though. My bf who normally isn't a fan of cornbread enjoyed this!

We got the emperor's beef, fried rice, crispy chicken wings, spicy garlic shrimp and I forgot what type of noodles lol. We got them in a combo that comes with soup and a house salad. I picked the hot & sour soup and it was way too vinegary. It had great potential but just way too sour. The only thing that was good were the fried rice and emperor's beef. Everything else was either bland or had a weird funky taste (chicken wings). SERVICE: The food came out in a timely manner. We got seated right away despite it being dinner rush. I feel like that should have been the first red flag lol. Our server was sweet but just took a bit of time and kept forgetting the things we asked for and kept talking with her other coworkers. We ended up asking the other staff/servers for the things we needed like boxes/napkins and such. AMBIANCE: The lighting in the place was very nice and does set a vibe to the place. As for cleanliness, the tables and seats in the booths can definitely be cleaner. The smell of the place was whatever and can be a little kitchen-y maybe because we were seated close to the kitchen. During the time of our visit, it was not busy at all so it was not loud. Parking can definitely be tricky given that it is in DTLA. The outside area is not the greatest, again, it is DTLA lol. Honestly, I would absolutely not go back to this location. I will try wokcano again at a different area. This was not it at all. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, I wish we had more time because we had another appointment downtown. I would have loved to try more dishes and definitely dessert! Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. He checked on us at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. The service was as impressive as the food. The restaurant has such a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful ceramic water cups with bird designs--they were so unique and charming. Even the water tasted wonderful! I'm thrilled that Au Lac is still thriving after all these years. If anything, the food tasted even better than I remembered. I certainly won't wait another 12 years before coming back. In fact, I was so impressed that I convinced my husband to come with me next Saturday for dinner! I've tried many vegan restaurants over the years, and Au Lac remains my absolute favorite.
