I've actually been here two days in a row because the food is that good. You can tell everything is fresh since you can see the staff prepping everything right behind the counter. The braised short rib and chipotle chicken are definitely the highlights--super flavorful. Also, the mashed potatoes are legit; they taste like homemade Thanksgiving mash. My only gripe was the snap peas; they didn't strip the ends off, which made them kind of tough to chew. Still, it's a great step up from the usual Chipotle or sandwich spot. Came here last night with my mom after a show. We were both hungry and grateful this place stayed open til 9pm. All the other restaurants in the area (except Water Grill, which is a little too pricey for us) were closed in the evening. The food here was just ok. I think my mistake was ordering not-so- healthy food at a healthy restaurant. I ordered a fried chicken plate with Mac n cheese, and while I'm glad I tried it, I don't think I'll order it again. The fried chicken is more like battered, coated, fried/broiled similar to a chicken fried steak. It was flavorful but a little too much breading and salt for my taste. The Mac n cheese was kinda bland and had too much breadcrumb topping. In all fairness to TG, we came towards the end of the night an hour or so before they closed so it might've been the end of their inventory. It's entirely possible that their food tastes fresher earlier in the day. The spinach salad with almonds and goat cheese was pretty good though! Saturday I had the Short rib plate and to my delight is was perfect. I got grilled seasonal vegetables and the mash potatoes and gravy tasted really good. The Short rib was seasoned and tender. The seasonal veggies was on point flavor to the bone lol. I dont give many 4 star reviews because most people just working to get a check and have no concern about the quality of the food they serve. Tender Greens is one of my favorite go-to meals in the area. This location is dog-friendly and cozy with a big gated patio. Staff is usually helpful and nice. I got the plate with seared tuna, mashed potatoes and gravy, and seasonal veggies. Bread is nicely toasted and flavorful on its own too. It's a healthy and hearty meal all under 1000 calories. Extremely disappointed. Would not recommend!!!! Save yourself the headache. This is the second time my husband and I have ordered from Tender Greens Downtown LA via Uber Eats, and both times our dinner was wrong. About a week ago, my mashed potatoes were missing. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and try them out again. Today, my salmon was completely missing! ‍ replaced with a random ketchup packet in my plate instead (see image). After a long day at work, this is beyond frustrating. My husband spoke to Tatyana (believe the manager was too busy to speak), and the only solutions offered were: Drive over and pick up the salmon myself (the whole reason I ordered via Uber Eats is because I couldn't pick it up), or "Possibly" refund just the salmon portion. You would think they'd refund the whole plate for the inconvenience and me only having mash potato and veggie for dinner now. To me that's poor customer service and shows how little they care about the mistake that they made. Tried to give them a pass last time, but clearly nothing has improved. I've been to different tender greens location including this one in DTLA (which I've been here couple of times ) and never had any issues. But today, I never think I will encounter someone who's rude and no personality at all. I asked and he's one of the restaurant manager at that location named Paul. After an event at Pershing Square just steps away, we were hungry. So the Yelp app brought us here since it's the closest and we didn't have to drive and find parking again. We arrived around dinner time. In the weekends when the offices are closed,'this place is nearly empty except for a few that came in for food delivery. We ordered the chicken pesto sandwich. The bread was very rustic with hard edges. The chicken was dry so it was hard to swallow. But after sitting in the to-go container for a few hours, the bread softened up and perhaps the pesto seeped into the chicken so it wasn't as dry as earlier. The steak plate (see my photo) looked like they just threw everything onto the plate. The steak was mostly tough and medium, instead of the medium rare I ordered. We also got a steak with mashed potatoes and pasta salad. (No photo) The steak was also more like medium instead of med. rare. That order was plated much better. Service was OK. Well, I went inside this place and got me a sandwich, I think that the grill was too hot and when they toasted the bread it got burnt, it was bitter burnt, the salami in the sandwich had the casing on it and when I took a bite, all the meet came out, I had to pull the strings of salami casings out of the destroyed sandwich and out of my mouth. I got food from here many times. Lately food was not the same. Today my fish and rice were so oily! Too much oil coated. I ordered brown rice. It was sour and oily too ... the sour is from lemon I guess but I didn't expect my rice was mixed with something. Sour from the lemon is ok but oily is a no .
