    WaBa Chicken & Steak Bowl
    Travis P.

I ordered takeout here via the app and they had my food within minutes of me placing the order. Was a flawless pickup going and they gave me extra of everything I wanted. (sauces, green onions) Food tasted like classic Waba Grill. I got a chicken and steak plate and overall it was as good as I expected it to be. Not sure why they drenched the dumplings with sauce but otherwise it was good.

    Inspect your food before eating

This is my go to spot until today. I always inspect the vegetables before eating them and good thing I did because I found a bug/ parasite in my broccoli I'm 5 months pregnant and this definitely made my stomach churn. No more WaBa for me.

WaBa plate (steak & chicken) opted for brown rice for a healthy alternative!! Yum delicious

Nice to have a healthier alternative in a neighborhood of tacos, burritos and burger joints.

I'm very satisfied with this Waba location, the food is always exactly the way I ordered it and always delicious!... Just this year I lost 40 pounds on the Waba diet!, and it was a piece of cake because of online ordering and pickup... Instead of thinking of what to eat, I just efficiently would get it from this Waba location and get going with my day... This system worked great for me, and I'm still eating like this... Thank you Violet for running such a clean business, I'm happy with everything...

It comes with beef, rice, mushrooms, eggs, green onions, sesame seeds, their teriyaki sauce. I usually order it w/o teriyaki sauce on the rice and w/o mushrooms. It's so simple yet it tastes bomb!! The cheesesteak fries r delishhhh as well. I love the peppers and onions and whatever cut of beef they use for these dishes is sooo good with the little fatty parts that add so much flavor. The price is a little high for the portion but honestly for how much I like it I don't mind the cost if that's how we can keep this establishment around a while longer! This places gives me the same comforting vibes as Ono Grill in MPK before it closed down, iykyk, and their closure is still one of my biggest heartbreaks so I'm happy to support this restaurant as long as it's around. Service is fast casual, you order with the cashier and then take a seat. They'll serve the food to you and you can leave everything on the table when you're done, someone will clean it up I don't live too close so when I come I just order my usual but the other menu items like the ssam and specials all look really good too! The drinks that I've had were just okay, I stick to the food when I'm here

It would be nice if they used a more substantial, crispy type of fry. Going for a midweek late lunch, it was not busy. It's a very casual place where you order at the counter and find a seat. There were only two tables with diners, however, almost all of the other tables had piles of food and drink trash left. Again, it was not busy, there were at least three people working there and the whole time we were there (we dined in) no one cleared the tables.

Located in a busy neighborhood of El Monte, CA, this restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Limited parking is available behind the restaurant, and street parking is an option if you can find a space. Upon entering, I immediately noticed how clean, well-organized, and modern everything looked. The electronic menu board is clearly and prominently displayed as you walk in. The menu is quite extensive, with options including wraps, salads, bowls, breakfast items, smoothies, and meal-prepped dishes with chicken, beef, salmon, tofu, and much more. I was impressed by the variety of choices and portions. My wife ordered an Asian chicken salad and garlic edamame, while I had a house salad with chicken and shrimp, plus a strawberry-banana smoothie and (2) protein donuts. Each dish was absolutely delicious. The lettuce in our salads was crunchy and fresh, the chicken and shrimp were flavorful and well-seasoned, the garlic edamame was tasty and cooked perfectly, and my banana and strawberry smoothie--let's just say I wish I had another one right now, as I loved it! If I may make a small suggestion: please chop the lettuce into smaller pieces, as the lettuce on both our plates contained large pieces that we had to cut ourselves. Despite this minor item, it was a positive dining experience, and we definitely plan to return soon to try other items on the menu.

The chicken was pretty dry, and the sweet potato has a lot of root in it. The food gave me a very "healthy" feeling that it was not oily. Overall, the food was excellent, even my Asian parents, who can be pretty critical when it comes to Chinese food, gave most dishes high marks. The crispy noodles had great texture, the West Lake beef soup was comforting and flavorful, and the eggplant portions were generous. The service was what I'd describe as classic Chinese restaurant service. The waitress came across as a little rushed and occasionally seemed slightly annoyed, but she was still attentive and accommodated everything we asked for without any issues. Our food came out at a reasonable pace, and we never felt forgotten or had to chase anyone down. The atmosphere had its own unique charm. The restaurant was playing early-2000s hip-hop while a Chinese gangster drama played on the TV, which made for an unexpectedly entertaining backdrop. The restroom was also clean, which is always appreciated. My only real criticism is the sweet and sour pork. The batter itself was crispy and well executed, but too many of the pieces were mostly breading wrapped around bone with very little meat. It was the one dish I probably wouldn't order again. Even with that one miss, everything else was strong enough that we left very satisfied.

The beef chow mein was good-- while it was lacking some wok hay, the noodles were fried to perfection. Flavor was lacking as well. The beef brisket was tender and the flavor was there but it was slightly tangy/sour-- on the border of doing bad? I've never had this dish taste sour. The typhoon ribs were filled with fried garlic and the ribs came out hot and crispy! I recommend this dish if you like salt and pepper shrimp/chicken-- this is a fun alrernative Service was better than the avg Chinese restaurant. We were 1/3 parties so I'm not sure if it changes when it gets busy. There's plenty of parking.

Crab omelette fried rice: the best dish of the night! The crab and omelette are nicely cooked, not overly salty. The rice to egg+crab ratio is great. It is not spicy, the seasoning is just right. I highly recommend this. Mango sweet sticky rice: not bad, just alright. We think the sticky rice is too soft and soggy, not chewy enough. The coconut milk is served on the side so you can pour it based on your preference. The mango is perfectly ripened, very sweet. Tom Yum Noodle Soup with seafood: our least favorite dish. The noodle is very soggy, there's really no texture to it. I know there's the word "noodles" in their name, but we definitely do not remember this noodle option at all. The tom yum soup was not great either, the spiciness is way too strong, so you can't taste much of the sourness. The seafood variety was ok, there are shrimps, fish fillets, mussels, squid, and fish balls. The texture of the squids and fish fillets tasted a bit weird. Their service was nice though we got sorted at a corner, so we had a hard time getting the staff's attention. The restaurant has a very unique decorations. There are a lot of figurines, pictures and statues. Overall, their dishes are either really good or the complete opposite, not sure if I would want to go back again.

It's essentially the same food, except they serve more fusion items (ie Italian style pastas & pizzas). Getting here to dine in is an adventure in itself. It's located in Diamond Plaza and parking is never fun coming here. We were actually able to find a spot not too far away so we lucked out. I headed in first to get a table because I saw a bunch of people standing out the door, and when I told the host that i needed wheelchair accessible seating, he immediately let me sit at the side table by the restroom, which was perfect and had plenty of room for my son to roll to. At these establishments you usually don't get good service, and my expectations were low, but the service we received was surprisingly great!! Our host/server was super attentive and came by a lot. He even gave us complimentary soup (menu said the soup is $2.50 with your meal)! There are over 137 items on the menu so there is plenty to choose from. We ordered: Create Your Own pizza Yang Chow Fried Rice Grilled Chicken Steak w/ Black Pepper Sauce Sweet &Sour Pork Rib HK style Most everything we had was good. Nothing super special, but standard HK style cafe good. The pizza was disappointing. Maybe I should've ordered their menu pizzas instead of creating my own. The toppings I picked were ok (the turkey on the pizza was deli sandwich slices), but the tomato sauce base was too thick and acidic, which kind of ruined the pizza for us. I don't think they used a proper pizza sauce, it lacked any seasoning or depth, and tasted like tomato sauce straight from a can. The pizza crust was pretty good, but honestly I can make a better pizza than this at home. Next time I'm back, I'm just going to stick to the usual cafe foods.
