This is the first negative review I've posted, but our experience at Wabi was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to share it. On Sunday I was on a date, and despite having a reservation, we were told we could not sit inside due to a private event, which was never communicated beforehand. The atmosphere was chaotic and extremely loud, with microphone announcements, shouting, and blaring music with vulgar lyrics. It felt completely inappropriate for a restaurant. Our server was amazing, she's able to solve our problems, the food was exceptional, everything came perfect, but the manager wasn't very helpful. Afterward, I called several times to discuss the experience but the manager was never around. I would not recommend this restaurant to families or anyone looking for an enjoyable dining experience. Communication was poor, customer concerns were not addressed, and the overall experience was disappointing. read more

The game was on so it was very lively too. The dirty martinis are very good. We ordered the charred shishito peppers which were delightful. The Venice market salad was good, but I'd probably order something else next time. Lastly we had the Rick James roll which was the standout of the night. Love this place. Parking can be a hassle sometimes, but I find it worth it to get out of my small radius. The restaurant is eclectic. Outside is my preference. In fact, I'm not sure I have ever stepped foot inside the door. The fish has always been fresh. The crab meat is real. (For my little one who likes CA rolls... it was a harsh reality as to what crab actually tastes like. Sorry kid, it's not the plastic that you like) The staff is always very nice and stop by very often to check in. I'm a sushi purist so Wabi didn't hit the mark for me. All the sushi is "with a twist" and for me had too much mayo and other sauces. Not to say it wasn't tasty but it was just too heavy for my taste. We had the crispy rice with spicy tuna to start. The rice was nice and crisp/chewy, and there was a good size portion of tuna on top. This was the favorite. We also had the baked crab roll and tiger king roll. It's been a while since I had been to Venice and I had a chance to meet one of my friends who is visiting from Florida and we had fun but the service was ATROCIOUS!! Our waiter forgot our drink order and then he completely spaced out and we had to remind him to bring the second round of sushi. The food is way overpriced for the quality which is mediocre at best. This was my first time at this particular location, I went to the old Wabi Sabi on Abbott Kenny, which was 100 times better. For the ambience, I'm giving it 4.5 stars and for the food I'm giving it 2.5 stars, so I sent summed it up to about three stars. To be quite honest, I didn't think sushi in Venice was going to be the best anyways however we were in the area and craving sushi. The only sushi roll that I actually liked that we got was the one with the caviar and truffle sauce on it, and the one with tuna and jalapeño on top. I'm not sure of the names, but that is what they consisted of those two were actually pretty good, the other ones I ordered were not good to me. The car chicken was a 4/10. The steak skewers a 7/10. The wontons were gross tbh, I took them back and ordered the skewers instead. And the hamachi sashimi was a 4/10. One of the reasons we decided to go to this restaurant is because we seen the amazing pictures on Yelp. However, when we got there, the server told us that they've changed the menu a lot and removed a lot of things. I saw a picture of the wontons from five days ago (from when I went) and they had apparently switch the recipe for the wontons. They looked so good in the picture and I'm sure they were better. Not sure why they would replace them. The ambience is cute though, and I like how they have indoor outdoor however, the service wasn't the best read more

I walked past at least 5-6 empty tables outside (and plenty more empty ones inside) but when I got up to the host I was told the wait was 45+ minutes. I told him about the call I had just made and I asked if we could sit at one of the empty tables outside and I was told no. The host was Instantly rude and very unprofessional, I will never be eating at this establishment. If they keep this up I doubt they'll be around much longer. With spicy toro, avocado yuzu, spicy blue crab, shrimp tempura, spicy mayo, spicy eel, and truffle puree, this was one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had! The rolls were also large and filling. This is a terribly filthy place where you literally sit outside, though there is a small bar area inside. However, when you sit outside, homeless people wander all around you, and the air smells foul everywhere; right in the middle of all this, you sit and eat. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise--the service is terrible, The young blonde woman who served me was incredibly rude. She barely spoke at all, and was extremely insolent simply because she claimed I had given the wrong order. As for the food, I have no complaints--everything was delicious.
