He was on time, took a lot of pictures for us to choose from, was polite, friendly and took charge when he needed to (i.e. asking relatives to move when they were in his way). We received all the photos through an easy online link within 3 weeks of the event. We received multiple positive comments/remarks from our family and friends about the quality of his work. On top of all of these positives, his rates are very reasonable. I would definitely use JPapa again for our photography needs!

Some backstory...Imagix/Michelle has done our yearly photos for our son from ages 1 to now 5. (See my past reviews). From somehow capturing a perfect moment from our perpetually moving blur of a son (ages 1-3) to patiently instructing four 70/80 year olds on how to hold their aforementioned 4 year old Tasmanian Devil grandson last year, Michelle is a magician/artist...I always leave the photoshoot stressed from the chaos Hurricane Daniel (our son) leaves in his wake....But every year we come back to look at the proofs and are amazed at Michelle ability to capture "lighting in a bottle" . This year was no different. Fortunately we survived the terrible 2's (...3's....4's....) and thanks to time, maturity, and the opposite of gentle parenting, our little Daniel, though far from perfect, is manageable. But we didn't want to make it too easy for Michelle, so we threw in another variable. After a recent canine cancer scare, and recently learning from Google that all dogs, however loyal and cute, unfortunately have an inescapable life, span, I somehow convinced my beautiful but camera shy wife that this is the year we do a family photo with our dog. Some more backstory, if you read this far, our Yorkie, Libby, loves us but HATES the rest of the world. She spent the entire hour photoshoot in perpetual scowl and Volume 11 non stop bark. One week later as she always does, lighting in a bottle perfection. I looked at the proofs with amazement. Our son, we expected....she's done it every year, but how she made a loud perpetual yapping bark into a impossibly cute smile is above my skill set. But I think her greatest feat is how she lessened the "he must be rich" looks gap between my wife and I. My wife is easy, even me with my amateur Android skills, it's hard for her to take a bad picture. Michelle mastery came with how she elevated me to "he must be funny" looks gap level. So why the tear? We loved one of the pics so much we purchased a large framed canvas print to hang on our living room wall. My 85 year old happened to be in town for his grandsons 5th bday so I asked him for an helping hand hanging the picture. I figured he has these family portrait hanging at my childhood home. My brother and I with our full head of hair and my mom shoulder pads captured the 90's to a tee...but what I always remember is the "proud" look my dad had on his face. A look of accomplishment shouting "look at me world and all that I love and created". Watching my aging dad struggle, listing to my aging dog bark in a locked room to protect my dad's ankles, I was suddenly reminded that time, as much as you want to hit pause, always moves forward. It's a good idea to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, look at the snapshot/memories/moments and take it all in. After my dad handed me the leveler and I put away the hammer, and I looked up....and yeah....I had that "Dad" look

I googled what to wear beforehand for a black and white photoshoot and it's best to wear monochromatic colors. We wore white tops and the end result was simple and clean. Since we both wore glasses, Rex had us take off our glasses for some of the photos so that we got pics with and without glasses because we look different with them on and off.

Rex does relate pretty well to kids since he has 2 of his own. I know this because I do know him on a personal and a professional level. The shoot started around 4:30pm at Heritage Park here in Cerritos. Rex knows the kids will need to take time to warm up to him so he let's them play for the first 30 minutes. The kids will always be taking breaks here and there so when he finds the opportunity, he will whip out his 5D and shoot multiple times. Unfortunately for us, it was just a really hot day on the day of the shoot. It was the last warm day I can remember , inching to around 100 degrees. So at first, some of the shots when I got them back, I can see the sweat on my daughter's face. That's how clear his pictures were! So those pretty much can go into the recycle bin. But of course, there were some awesome shots and I believe he also photoshopped a few that I like because I can tell it wasn't natural lighting. I too, am a avid photographer so I know about composition, lighting, focus, etc. I didn't have any pictures in mind, just a generic shot. I think that was the only drawback for our shoot. So if you know what you want, or a style you want, you will need to convey that to Rex in advance. I was just needing a few shots for our annual Christmas cards and I think I found a few that I will be uploading to Costco.com's website soon. A week before I had to confirm the backdrop that I wanted, the wording I wanted on the photo strip, and they asked about the vibe and colors of the party. Then a few days before my event they sent over 6 different designs for me to choose from and confirmed that I wanted the wedding-themed prop table. It was an easy process and on the day of they showed up on time and didn't have an issue that after unloading they had to park in a lot a short walk away. The two attendants were super friendly and all the guests enjoyed taking photo strips home. I'm glad that I booked Xsiempre!

The service was so great and they went above and beyond to bring my old school idea of a 90's prom to life. Chris is so helpful and helped with other set up for us. My friends/family and I recognized how great the service and quality of photos were that my good friend hired them again the following year for a party I helped plan. This year we used them for the 360 booth and bartending services. Again, all service was amazing and we had Chris back again on the 360, with the amazing Gen as a bartender. Our attendees loved the service again, and we will definitely hire them again. I strongly recommend! Thank you so much for making our party so great! Reasonable priced photobooth....YES!…read more But actually a 1.5 star and definitely not recommending them. Communication, lacking, booked 2 months in advance and Danny said he would have a print sample for me with in the "week". Well I didn't get the sample till 10 days before my event date. I also, messaged him early in January to confirm if we were good to go and when he can provide the print, well it got to the point where I had to message him through yelp, not cool. Yes, everyone is busy, everyone has their own thing going on, but as a business owner, acknowledge your customer. I shouldn't constantly have to text you and send you a yelp message. The day of, Carlos was our booth attendant, the setup time was rushed and a bit late, however I was told they would arrive an hour before start time. No issues with him. My issue is with the print. The sample provided and what was printed was off. My daughter's theme colors were maroon, GOLD and white! Not maroon, YELLOW and white. And no, it's not the damn same color. The printed text for the photobooth printouts were so light, unreadable and not the gold color text like the sample, it was YELLOW. The photobooth attendant agreed when I told him wth, the print is so light and I can't even read it but he said there was nothing he can do. So as I told Danny the next day, maybe next time he should do an actual printed print sample beforehand. I would have rather paid the extra $25-$50 more and got quality prints. I got jipped, my daughter pictures were just a faded text of yellow ugliness. And yes, I'm being extra, this was her Sweet 16, not a "hey lets have a kickback just because party". Fyi, their props were also subpar from all other photobooth companies I've encountered.

The attendants were very friendly, professional and even suggested poses for us. Mr. Smiley's offers a variety of packages, templates and pricing is reasonable. Rex was very responsive to emails and provided great customer service. I was very happy with the quality of the photos! I definitely plan on using their services again in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking to book a photobooth.
