I placed my order, and she told me to go find a table and the food would be out soon. As soon as I sat down, she came out and brought me my coffee. I asked for cream and sugar, and she said it was on the counter inside. It was a giant cup of coffee (which is awesome) but it was filled to the top. So I burned my hand when I spilled it, trying to get in sugar. By this time I was very frustrated. I went back to my table and my food came up almost immediately. The server was smiling and friendly. The food looked amazing and tasted even better. Iordered almond les leches french toast, cheese grits and bacon. The greats are okay, but nothing specia but the french toast was out of this world. It was thick, cut, smoked bacon that tasted fantastic. The server and the food saved this visit for me. My roommate and I have been to this location since I moved to Denver in 2012. Over time, the servers are mostly rude. One of them (Christine) barely talked, acted like it was a bother to wait on us. When the food did come, she just slid the plates on the table, forgot the flatware, and then walked away. It seems they have high turnover. Earlier this week, we both had a Get a Waffle free coupon (We are both in their email program.I know they cannot accept to coupons on one check, so we got separate checks. The manager (Hannah, a really rude, bitchy manager) said they couldn't accept two coupons. We explained that we were on separate checks and each had a coupon. She restated, they can't accept 2 of them (1 per customer). I guess since we were sitting together, it didn't matter that we had separate checks. We have never had a problem each using one before. When Brian got his check he was charged 3.65 for a waffle that was supposed to be free. Even though mine was free, I was charged tax on it. I didn't realize it was legal to charge tax on a free item. We will NOT go back this location. We will go to the Parker waffle house (way out of our way) to AVOID THIS PLACE! There was a regional or district manager (according to a server) there that day and he wouldn't even talk to us. With senior management like this, it's no wonder, they have inferior management at the restaurant level. If I didn't like the food, and didn't get the coupons, I would never go back and they don't really seem to care about losing a customer. I have filed a complaint with the corporate office and asked for a response, so it will be interesting to see what they say, if they even respond. They also have the juke box cranked up to a level that could compete with a noisy bar. I stopped by Waffle House recently, and honestly, it hits exactly what you expect, and in the best way. There's something comforting about walking into that diner-style chaos. The open grill, the chatter, and the smell of hashbrowns sizzling on the griddle. I went for the waffles, of course, and they did not disappoint. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, just the right amount of sweetness. I also snagged some eggs and bacon, and the hashbrowns were perfection. The staff were super friendly and kept things moving, even when the place started to fill up. It's not fancy, but that's exactly why I love it. I officially will no longer ever return to a Waffle House again (unless out of state & only if no other options when/while traveling for pit stop). Place fell off entirely!!!! What was suitable solely for a post clubbing cuisine is now nasty AF!!! I appreciate Waffle House hiring felons but TF?!! Wait staff & chief clearly didn't seem to even want to work. Whether or not that was the employee's intent, the complete lack of acknowledgment was unacceptable and made us feel discriminated against. I will be asking Chili's Corporate to investigate this incident, speak with the management team at this location, and ensure that all guests are acknowledged promptly and treated with courtesy and respect. No customer should have to sit for 10 minutes without even being offered a glass of water while watching other guests receive service. What is unfortunate is that the school I sub at had brought some to the school a few months back and I was impressed. So this was incredibly disappointing. The Smoothie was Delicious.
