Waffle House is a chain of restaurants that serve breakfast around the clock. The first Waffle House was conceived by founder Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner who met when Rogers purchased a house from Forkner. The two men decided to go into business together. The first Waffle House opened on Labor Day weekend in 1955 in Avondale Estates. Georgia. Rogers wanted to create a restaurant where you could get food quickly while still having table service 24 hours, seven days a week. The name Waffle House was chosen because waffles were the most popular and profitable item on the menu. By the fourth restaurant in 1960, they began franchising Waffle Houses. In the 1970's the company sold off the first Waffle House restaurant. They purchased it back in 2007, restored it, and turned it into a company museum. Today Waffle House has 2,100 locates in 25 mainly southern states. If you have ever taken a southern road trip or needed breakfast in the wee hours of the morning after partying, you likely have dined at a Waffle House. This Waffle House is convenient to both I-95 and the Turnpike in Ft. Pierce. I ended up here because I was having a craving for a pecan waffle and I had an hour to kill before my tour started. I sat myself down at the counter and in no time at all I had a hot cup of coffee in front of me. The atmosphere is no frill, greasy spoon but I did enjoy the historic photos on the wall. I ordered my trifecta of happiness, a pecan waffle, well down hash browns, and a plate of bacon. As I waited I enjoyed the banter of the employees who seemed like family. I was so full by the time I rolled out that I didn't end up eating for the rest of the day. The prices may have gone up over the years but the nostalgia I have for Waffle House is priceless. read more

I've been to many Waffle House locations over the years, and this one is up near the top of the list. We arrived at 7:30am on a weekend and were promptly greeted. The interior was clean and the service was fast. We of course ordered a waffle and also the more traditional breakfast fare. The food was hot and fresh. Everything was exactly as expected. Keep in mind, this is a diner, so temper your expectations. This isn't the Ritz Carlton. But in the class of "grungy American diners," this Waffle House tops the list! read more

Waffle House has become an iconic presence on the culinary landscape here in the southeastern United States. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never having a waffle and a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try. read more

A good place for Southern comfort food and, especially, waffles! This is one of the (over) 2100 locations located in the United States. It looks like there are about 190 Waffle Houses in Florida and at least 2 within a mile of each other. They are located on the opposite sides of the I-95 and Okeechobee Road intersection. This particular restaurant is located on the northeast side of the junction. Parking is limited at the location but there is additional parking in the adjacent parking lot to the north. It is set up like a typical Waffle house with a staff that greets you when you enter. You can eat at the tall counter, low counter, or in the booths to the left and right of the counters. The menu is regular American fare with Eggs omelets for breakfast and sandwiches for breakfast. The prices are very reasonable. The restaurant was not very crowded when we visited. The place was very clean. The waitress came to take our order quickly. We ordered the waffles (of course) and bacon and drinks. The food came out quickly and tasted very good. The staff was very professional, the price was good and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting some good food and a pleasant atmosphere. read more

This location is hit or miss. If it's super busy, it's probably best to go to the other location just down the street on other side of I-95. That location seems to avoid the rushes like this location. If it's not super busy, then it's fine. Last weekend we went for a late breakfast and the place was packed. All the empty tables were in need of cleaning. We went ahead and sat down at one and someone took some of the dirty dishes, but then left without finishing and stood by the front door. There were something like 10 other people working so we figured it won't take long, but after waiting about ten minutes, a waitress said "it's gonna take us a while before we can clean your table and take your order". We took that as our cue to take the 5 minute drive to the other location. That turned out to be a smart move. If not super busy, easy give stars. If super busy, save yourself a loud and hectic visit and go to the other place just across the freeway. read more

Upon enter we thought it was friendly, that was the best part. Waitress who was unmasked directed my husband to her table even though I selected another. The waitress was loud and she kept telling us they did not have items which showed to be on menu. My husband said you don't seem to have anything and she made a smart remark. Hot Chocolate is off menu because someone burned themselves however they still serve coffee. Ham Omelette, she said they did not have chopped ham and since manger was there she could have cook use the sliced ham. We left. We're in Florida for a funeral and we usually visit this Waffle house twice the year (since 2014). This was the worst experience ever. One of your employees ask what the difference between a Mexican and a Puerto Rican, their answer on is ghetto the other is bougie. They were talking loud and this was not amusing . read more

Rolled off of I95 starving pulled into this Waffle House. Oh boy was I in for a treat! The place looked like it hasn't been cleaned in 10 years. Staff was so noisy yelling across the restaurant about their drawer being short, the previous shift not doing this or that, all anyone in there wanted was awash breakfast and some peace. I ordered my eggs over medium, with bacon, white toast, and hash browns. The eggs had a 1/4" of crust on them most nasty eggs I've ever seen, bacon was not edible, etc, the waitress came up and said "I'm sorry those eggs were over cooked" and I said "you think" sarcastically. She never offered to make new ones etc. I gave up the second the plate landed in front of me! Run from this place if I could have given a negative mark I would have. read more

LOVEE Waffle House. I been going to Waffle House for years with my family, this one especially. It can get busy in the mornings but if you got time to wait then I definitely would recommend! Why do I do this to myself? I know better to eat at waffle house, Jack in the box or golden corral but I keep going back sometimes. I feel like Charlie Brown when Lucy asks him to kick the football and then he falls flat on his ass every time. Today, I walked in. I was about to sit at a table but it was dirty. Someone left drug paraphernalia there. I sat at the next one. The server was younger and prettier than your typical waffle house server who has lived a rough life and talks like they've been smoking for 60 years. I ordered a bacon party melt plate, hash brown topped with chili. I was not to impressed with the food temperature. Not sure why it wasn't hot, it's not like it had a chance to sit. The quality of the food was typical waffle house. Meaning, it was poor. Later I had diarrhea. That's typical for waffle house too. The lady was a bit slow to refill my coke. read more

I typically don't give five stars to a chain location like this but I will make an exception for this marvelous W House location. It started when we were consulted by a staff member inquiring if we would be interested in sitting at the counter as it was pretty full at 9 AM on a Sunday. There weren't two adjacent seats but after her polite request to a couple at the counter, that couple did a scoot over and we had two seats together! As to the food, the Mrs. and I both ordered our hash browns well done and upon arrival, the browns (along with the eggs and bacon) were cooked to total perfection. We also made a request to have our waffles a bit later after enjoying our initial plate of food. The timing was perfect! Our server hit a perfect score all the way around. I have always been amazed at the constructive teamwork by WH teammates over the years, but this location's management and other staff should be congratulated for their superior service. We normally don't stop in/around this area but may change our minds the next time traveling through the area! read more
