My mom had chosen this place to have breakfast & when we pulled up the front, I was hesitant on how the experience was going to be....we all 3 really enjoyed the company of the now new owner. He was kind enough to give me complimentary potatoes w my breakfast sandwich since I guess I opted out of the meat. But regardless still a much appreciated gesture. The younger gentleman that was waiting on tables was great as well. My biscuit was one of the best I have ever had eating out. Buttery, crispy on the outside, soft & fluffy on the inside. Last one I've tried else where tasted like it had freezer burn but this tasted fresh hot out the oven. My eggs were buttery smooth, not too over done, & I added hollandaise sauce & that was perfection. It was so dang good, I ordered the same thing but to-go for breakfast the next morning. And he continued to give me the complimentary potatoes which those were heavenly. The inside looks just like a blast from the past diner w some cool historical memorabilia. I also like the large windows w the tables against them for the natural light to come thru. Stopped in for breakfast and ordered the 2 eggs over medium, corned beef hash, grits, and sourdough toast. My eggs came out over easy instead, and the corned beef hash was clearly from a can. The sourdough was light but not homemade, and the grits were just okay. Service was a bit slow, but the staff was friendly and welcoming. Not sure why most breakfast spots can't cook over medium eggs. When we went to pay, credit card fees are added to the bill. While the charge is disclosed, I personally feel businesses should absorb this cost rather than pass it on to customers. Credit card companies have charged merchants these fees since credit cards were first introduced, and in most industries outside of food service, merchants don't pass them along to the customer. Overall, the food was decent, and the place definitely had that classic diner atmosphere. If you're looking for a friendly spot for a casual breakfast, it's worth giving a try -- just don't expect gourmet. read more

This place has the best breakfast ever!!! The kielbasa is AWESOME the over easy eggs were perfect but I have to tell you that since I don't eat bread I generally have tomato slices. These were delicious cold fresh and just wonderful! Husband had French toast and he enjoyed every morsel- they even had syrup with no sugar!!! The coffee is just the way I like it but even better. Our second time here. Thought we give it another try. Although the new owners are nice and staff are very friendly, we waited for our breakfast for a while as we were skipped over and others were served before and they came after us. Breakfast was just ok. We ordered simple. Mine was scrambled eggs and they put a square of cheddar cheese right on top, bacon was soggy and Not crispy but the grits were good. Pancakes were burnt. Where should I start?? Should I start by saying this was a mistake all around?? I sat at their counter, because it was the ONLY place that didn't have someone next to you and through Covid times, you can never be too careful. The waitress who came to take my order, killed a bug on the counter in front of me with her hand and swiped it towards her and away from me. So although I appreciated the thought, that should have been my out, but I didn't because I already felt out of place and didn't want to call attention to myself since I was one of the two people wearing a mask in the entire place. The kitchen cooks, none were wearing masks while cooking. The food tasted like nothing, seriously, nothing. I ordered a veggie omelet and it didn't have any favor. The veggies (mushroom in particular) were from either a can or jar. It was so bad. It came with a side of burnt "home fries ". The "chef" packed it to go, even though it was eat in. I should have just told them to leave in to go containers, dump it, and get out fast. There were 2 waitresses working, one was wearing a mask under her nose, which is the one that killed the bug, and another with beautiful grey hair wearing the only other mask correctly or at all aside from me, takes an order from a tall guy who comes in and stands right next to me at the register. The guy was super sweet, and he looked like he died for our sins (Jesus Christ) like a beard down to his chest and no mask, he decided to sit right next to me in the counter. He's chatting with me, while I'm trying to eat, AND my mask is still under my chin hanging from my ears like it's nothing. I asked (with grey hair) the waitress to get me a to go styrofoam cup and instead she brought me fresh coffee in a to go cup. I appreciated her but not the fact that I probably got Covid to go. Lol This place is so dirty, it made Archies which is down the street, feel clean. The food was bad, the decor or ambiance non existent. Will not be going back there ever. read more

Local southern diner, open 24-hours. Good for the fishermen, and people coming out of the bars late at night LOL! Small restaurant with a few tables outside. It is a parking lot view, however (as it is in a shopping center). Since they are only like a hundred yards or so from the ocean, maybe they could have some seafood on the menu? Great food at really reasonable prices. Our server was really inattentive, but watching the other tables, that didn't seem to be the norm. Between two of us, we sampled eggs cooked perfect over-medium, kielbasa grilled on the flat top, really good pancakes, bacon, and grits. All really good. The biscuits are simply canned biscuits, but before serving them, they cut them in half, butter them and thrown them in the flat top, so even they are pretty good. Would definitely return. read more

Me and boyfriend first time there and at first everything was nice, after we ordered I saw the workers touch the bread with their bare hands and was not wearing gloves until I asked the waitress to tell them we won't eat the food they touched with their hands. When the waitress told one of the cooks it seemed like he had a attitude then he went to wash his hands and then walked outside. The whole place did not seem to be cleaned at ALL. The counter where people suppose to sit down and eat there was a pot just sitting there and just a random bottle of dawn dish soap. And on top of that when the waitress brought our food she had a band-aid on and her finger was basically kissing our food. You don't have to be in the food industry to see that Dave's is unorganized and dirty. 4 or 5 people were working, and only 4 order tickets for the cook, workers looked overwhelmed. The food handling needs to be addressed, 4-star prices for 1-star quality. If the kitchen and staff are on display it's imperative to be clean and organized. Pay a short-order cook, he or she will dial that place in a snap. I hope they are able to right the ship. read more
