We usually do the app but they were taking online orders because the 1/2 drink and slushs, so we went through the drive thru and ask if we can do that since the online ordering was down and then the person taking our order jade was laughing and we were confused and then seconds later said yes so I ordered two large slush and she kept asking me to repeat myself. Then when we get to the window we hear her and an employee arguing which is not professional at all. And then proceeded to give us the wrong size we ask for a large and we got a medium. So we pull in to those slot things and waited 2 minutes for someone to answer because there was a line at the drive thru now and we just left. I've always been skeptical of drive thru service at fast food places. This Sonic experience was a great one! I got the butter garlic bacon cheese burger and my wife tried the peanut butter bacon cheese burger. The wait in the drive thru line was fast and the menu was easy to read. I was pleased that there was a pleasant ambiance in the drive thru lanes! Placing orders from the speaker was better than expected. The audio was clear and Chris was pleasant and professional. Stay away, I was in the drive thru for 20 mins and then waited at the window for 10 mins because they got my order wrong. They also want to argue with each other while the window is open which is very unprofessional. It's bad when McDonald's is more professional and on time with orders. I guess corporations are really trying to cut food costs and unfortunately the food is just nasty. My boyfriend and I were disappointed with everything we tried. Taking trips up & down 95 for the past several years I always stop at this sonic. Ocean waters are in my top 10 for favorite drinks in the world! I've never had a bad experience here & service is usually quick! My latest trip I stopped in to get my Ocean water & French toast sticks, during this time they have on the screen that not all menu items are available because of everything going on with COVID 19 so I knew it was a possibility of them not having either item. I ordered someone came out & told me they didn't have the sticks so I was sad but ordered a sausage burrito. When I got my food someone else came out I forgot her name but she told me they made a mistake & do have French toast sticks so of course I was immediately happy then she said they also gave me the burrito at no extra charge & apologized for the mistake. I love my Sonic corn dogs don't get me wrong and there cheese dip with pretzels are up a whole new notch but man oh man, I am so sick and tired of these Dr.Peppers. They taste yucky because, they ran out of the flavoring and they were a little light on the vanilla syrup. This is a reoccuring incident and it has happened several times. The lesson of this story? My mom brought home dinner and our kid meals were burnt. I was brought an "Ocean Water Slush" which was all sprite and no coconut. My mother got a "real fruit cherry limeade" which was too sweet. My burger was crunchy and hard. My mothers burger was a "burnt piece of crap" with processed cheese and a pickle. My sisters meal "tasted like chemicals". Whenever I see Sonic, I have to stop by. Today I was in Fredericksburg and stopped by this location. It was during the busy lunch time. I drove into one of the stalls and clicked on the order button. The screen says "the button is activated. We will be with you soon" for at least 10 mins. Then the screen went back to the normal screen. I had to click the button again to order. The 2nd time was much quicker. Somebody answered right away. Then I selected the card payment on the screen, swiped my card and waited for the food. When the server came, She told me the card reader is not working and she needs to take my card inside to swipe. It was supposed to be a simple, quick lunch experience but it became something else. I LOOOOOOOOOOVE Sonic - whenever I see one, I have to always make a stop and get a Cherry Limeade. If I'm hungry (which I am usually, 24/7), I get their Chili Cheese Tots (because, who doesn't love tator tots?!). Other items include burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, breakfast items, snacks/side items, desserts, and beverages (slushes). I particularly am fond of this location as they have both a drive-in as well as a drive-thru, which makes it oh-so-convenient! I was surprised to see this location, as I thought the nearest Sonic location was in Williamsburg (and, recently, Frederick, MD). Was I shocked when the staff told me that they've been here for about 5-6 years! I tried the Super Crunch chicken tenders this time and they were awesome, especially as they were right out of the fryer! Once upon a time ago, my friends and I used to drive to this Sonic location to just to indulge in the food and drive back, since this location is the closest to NOVA. Nowadays, Sonic is a mandated stop whenever I head down south I-95. I love the concept of ordering while your in your car (you can also go through the drive-thru if that's what you prefer). You can also pay there or pay when your food is delivered. In my experiences, the staff has always been friendly and courteous and the food always came out in a timely matter. read more

I just happen to visit on National Un-Turkey Day and I was excited. Half price burgers as far as the eye could see. I foolishly purchased 7 of them and got thru one and half a hot dog lol. This Sonic was actually very well run. It was efficient, fast, and the staff actually came out in the rain while we were in the drive thru to give us our order so we didn't have to wait. Whoa! Everything was made to go...unlike certain other McFast Food places. Fresh lettuce, fresh tomatoes, hot fries---this is fast food right? I love the concept of ordering at your car. I have to start this review by letting everyone know that I have a very special place in my heart for Sonic. I have been enjoying Sonics since I can remember (not going to say for how long then you will all know how old I am) I will admit to at least 15 years. As some of you know I have been in and out of the hospital over the last six months and to be honest I have spent more time in the hospital than I care in the last couple of months but the one thing that made it bearable for me was Sonic! Several of my co-workers found out that I love Sonic and have been bringing it to me pretty much once a week for the last month or so! And all I can say is Thank God that Sonic got a location closer than Roanoke as that is where I used to have to drive to get my fix of a route 44 cherry limeade but no more they opened this one in Fredericksburg which is only about an hour away from DC and I happen to have a co-worker who lives right down the street from them. They know her by name now as she has been coming in so much recently for me. My weekly dose of Sonic includes the amazing route 44 cherry and strawberry limeades, extra-long Chili Cheese Coney with tater tots with cheese and my new favorite item is the Mac & Cheese bites. OMG these are to die for can I tell you! I also have been eating a lot of corn dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches as well. I know you are saying to yourself OMG that is a lot of fast food for someone who doesn't like fast food! Well this is my addiction along with In-N-Out Burgers and Five Guys! If you are looking for that old fashion drive-in experience then this is the place to come! The still wear roller skates to bring your order to you! Well at least they do in Roanoke. I have not made it to the one in Fredericksburg yet but I promise you that this review is based on first hand knowledge of the food they serve! Even re-heated or cold it is great and now that I am out of the hospital for a while I am looking forward to a road trip to check it out first hand! Good lord I love Sonic, I get so excited to head South on 95 because I know I am gonna be in Sonic territory soon... sadly this Sonic always tends to put a big ole' rain cloud over my sunshine! Road trip with the girls... all of us starving, one Sonic virgin in the car, we rolled up to the little red button speaker box - push... nothing. Push again... nothing. Well okay, this is getting us nowhere, so we moved on to another little red magic box. I was the chosen one. I had the order. I was set. Four different meals, four different sides, four different drinks, ready go. Dun Dun Dunnn. Nothing. After some choice words to the fast food gods, finally the little red button lit up and I we hear a "We'o'm o' S'n' 'ay odr es." Uh, what!?! Little red button fail number 246. He couldn't hear me, we couldn't hear him, the outside Muzak system was on level DEAFING. You could clearly tell he was getting all sorts of annoyed...but after repeating the order back and forth three times I had faith that we were all on the same page. The order came out quicker than I expected it to, maybe they just wanted us outta there. Thankfully the order was hot and accurate... but shockingly it totaled $40.00? Yes, you read that correctly... I can only imagine what you are thinking about the four fatties at the Sonic, but really, we are talking about (3) chicken sandwiches, (1) burger, (4) sides of tots and (4) drinks. You're welcome economy. Its fast food - yes, but I hold Sonic to an unholy level of awesomeness. Probably because we don't have one in Northern Virginia yet we are teased with the commercials on TV almost daily. - What can I say, we're deprived? The soda was nothing special. There are a lot of Sonic fanboys out there hyping this place up. It doesn't live up to the hype IMO. I have never had Sonic before and I decided to try it for the first time last week since I usually just drive pass it when I go shopping and they always seem busy. I got a burger and they brought the food out very quickly. The burger was surprisingly fresh and hot. It came with everything the menu described doesn't look like they just threw it together effortlessly. The prices were not expensive at all either. Sonic is the only fast food place I'll splurge on and for good reason. I've been to many Sonics but since the Fredericksburg location is the only one in the vicinity of the DC area, I thought I'd leave a review for this one. There's no other place that I can think of that provides car side service by employees on roller skates. While most people eat in the comfort of their cars, some people enjoy the patio on a nice day or night. Food: My favorites are the popcorn chicken, the burgers, and the breakfast toaster. I've also heard the hotdogs are to die for but have never tried one. But the best things on the menu, of course, are the TATOR TOTS! Drinks: The cherry limeade is so refreshing with a nice burger and tots. The milkshakes (half off after 8pm) are also crazy good - the caramel one is my favorite. The DC area desperately needs a Sonic as it would be a huge hit with everyone! The local TV stations need to stop teasing us with the commercials and bring us a Sonic already! read more

I gave it 3 stars even though I hated ALL THREE items I ordered because I love Sonics. I had terrible luck that day. I ordered: Pretzel Hotdog. Not sure why but the flavors didn't work. It was a mess. Sweet Potato Tater Tots. THEY WERE SOGGY! Diet Cherry Limeade. Man up and get the NON diet! I deserved a crappy drink for ordering something diet at Sonics. Never again. The employee who brough our food was very helpful. The credit card machine wouldn't work and he eagerly volunteered to run it to a different machine. The lesson learned here....... We pulled into the car-drive and ordering was pretty difficult. The person at the other end could not make out what we were ordering so we had to repeat our order several times before she got it right. It was pretty frustrating... My boyfriend and I stopped by after a day in Kings Dominion and it happened to be after 8pm so we ordered two milkshakes (Chocolate Covered Banana and Strawberry Cheesecake) since it was 1/2 price after 8pm. I'm not really a big fan of their food as the amount and price is not proportionate however, I am a big fan of their drinks. One downside is that in the milkshakes they didn't blend it long enough because there were huge chunks of bananas at the bottom of the drink. read more

So if you're looking for a throwback experience of the old drive ins where servers would bring your food out to you and take your money and pay all in the comfort of your car, then Sonic is for you. Yes it's a national chain (though Fredricksburg is the closest one too me) but I have a soft spot for them. My staples are the milkshakes, where I get a different one every time; there are so many options. I also like their tater tots, fries, and burger. I mean it's American fast food so my bar isn't set too high, but I prefer Sonic to other fast food chains. Though I feel like the experience I have at Sonic sways my decision. Nothing like eating in your car or on the picnic tables after having food brought to you. Good stretch break after a long drive. I've gone to Sonic (mostly on road trips) both in the morning and at night. I enjoy it any time I go, really. I haven't yet had a bad experience. read more

I love Sonic. Having lived in New York all my life, I have never seen/been to a Sonic until I went to school in DC. The closest Sonic to DC is this location. The Sonic commercials pretty much hit the nail-on-the-head when it comes to describing how how I feel when i look at the delicious menu I've already set aside time to go next weekend to make the 1.5 hour trip it takes to get there. Sonic is the most expensive and slowest fast food restaurant there is. This location is no exception. It took about 15 minutes to get our food, and when they screwed up a chicken sandwich by putting mayo on it (girl we were with really hates mayo and can't scrape it off apparently) it actually took a second 15 minutes just to make a second 99 cent sandwich. What in God's name are they doing in there? If it weren't for the good commercials that cause the fact that people say "OOOOH a Sonic, I've never been!!"
