The kindest, most customer service Waffle House I have ever been to. This place was over the top good and the service just made me want to hug every last single one of the employees. These people were so nice. There was a sense of unity no matter color, age, or sex. I mean when you walk in you're immediately greeted. They are the first Waffle House that had a greeter, or one that I noticed. The food is always amazing! It's simple, it's good, it's consistent! Love love love this location. I'm coming back and if I'm in the A, I'm driving all the way to this location. Seriously! Impressive! Kudos to the manager for hiring the best of the best!

1st time visit! And I am proudly sporting my WH hat that they awarded me.

Flew into The ATL recently where an old buddy lives, and our plan was to drive up to Nashville the very next morning. I had told him a Waffle House visit was on my must-do list as I had never been. Whenever we told anyone that we always received a most incredulous reaction. Kind of like if someone here in SoCal said they had never been to In-N-Out before. You know - 'you poor deprived child you!' Kinda like that. When we were getting ready to hit the road I suggested we get a head-start before stopping, and he strongly objected. "There is only one location that I go to, and it's just down the street.' Just as he reported, the staff here are incredibly sweet and accommodating. Especially after I blurted out that it was my first time. Apparently they detected my excitement and one of them went to the back and fetched me a WH paper hat. And no, you can't have it! I half expected them to take my picture as confetti fell from the ceiling. What I didn't expect was how good the food was. I guess I was anticipating your typical bland chain diner quality food like Denny's. No siree. My pecan waffle was flavorful, tons of pecans, slightly crunchy on the outer and cloud-soft on the interior. Not an expert on grits, but loved those as well. Another surprise was how small their stores are. All that I saw were free standing and about the size of a med-large donut shop. BTW, they are every-damn-where in this part of the country. It seemed like every other freeway sign announced a nearby location. I just looked it up and there are 2,100 in 25 states, 132 in ATL alone. And no, none in CA, nearest locations are in Arizona. One more bucket list line item crossed off.

Not only do they have the bar food things you think of, but they have some of their own twists on favorites as well! To be fully transparent, I am the type of person to say "it's just good bar food" about most places, BUT the quality of this food is just different. Everything they do at Hudson Grille feels intentional and fun. Me and my family have been coming here every month for the past 10 years. One of my favorite things is how consistent I can expect their food to be. Here's a couple of my favorite foods: The chicken tenders are huge, crispy, and saucy (when you toss them in your favorite wing sauce). A wing sauce that I would recommend is the "Lemon-Yaki". It's a sweet and tangy teriyaki sauce wing with lemon pepper seasoning. I wish every other wing place had this combination! If you want something a little more spicy, but also packed with flavor, the "Sriracha Bourbon" sauce is a perfect balance. Another big unique stand-out item that I can't seem to stay away from is the sweet potato waffle fries with marshmallow dipping sauce... YUM! They are so addicting. In the 10 years of going here, the service has rarely ever fallen short. They excel in communication, patience, and personalization.

First off, I love the history of this building... 1800s, supposedly the jail at some point long ago. You can just feel the history and imagine what took place in there as you sit and wait for your meal. The staff are all fun and attentive, and our server -- who was also tending bar that day -- was amazing! We were there early enough for the half priced apps, and weren't hungry enough for a full meal. I ordered a side salad with ranch, and we split the smoked nachos. When they came out, it was a huge portion and enough for both my wife and I. The only drawback is that they didn't have any sour cream that we could add to the nachos... It may seem trivial, but I've never needed anyplace that didn't have sour cream for the nachos. Because of that, I will give this a 4.75 stars. We will definitely be back!

And, $50 later I am scratching my head why didn't we pay half that nearby at place that specializes in waffles... We entered the restaurant and there was seating near what we thought was the hostess stand while you waited for the table. We spoke to the person at the stand and she said "you'll have to wait, I am in training". Well, turns out that wasn't the check in space because we should have spoken to that person who was waving an iPad and not very happy. As we navigated the narrow spot away from the waiting area, there were people coming in the front door waiting to get a table, pick up drivers trying to get to the stand, people looking for their friends already seated and the waiting people. This giant clump of people stepping on each other. I just think there must have been several meetings about the layout of the concept restaurant by people who have degrees in planning and design but no one took notes. I could include more about the lack of thoughtful architecture that would include the kitchen, the POS machine near a refill station, and the bathrooms but I will move on. Our server was not existent and just a slight step up on pleasant than the woman with the iPad. I requested that my entree items be served separately and while it did come out of the kitchen that way, her grimace and body language indicated it was the most difficult request that could be made. This was my first and last time trying to First Watch. It was an unpleasant experience. Topped off by the server leaving the bill BUT in order to pay, one must navigate the cluster of humanity at the front door. Who thought of that disaster of a system?

Saturday night we decided to give it a try. Logged in and there was a 20-30 minute wait. It's about 15 minutes away so we put our names in and headed out. At the hostess desk the couple in front of us was told the wait was 45-50 minutes. At my turn I told her we were on the wait list. She checked, and we were seated within 5 minutes!. (They have " hand cut" steaks. Before taking us to our table I was able to select my steak from their case. ) This place is loud. It's a roadhouse, so I suppose the noise goes with that atmosphere. Loud music, and loud people, plus the wait staff sing and do line dancing occasionally, which is just weird. The food was good. They brought out rolls that were great. We had an order of Rattlesnake bites for appetizers. (Jalapeño, no rattlesnakes were involved.) My steak was a little over the rare I ordered, but edible. I ordered chili as a side which was delicious. My second side was a baked sweet potato, which came with brown sugar and cinnamon. (That wasn't listed on the menu and I don't do cinnamon so had to ask for a replacement. - My bad.) My wife had the "Roadkill" chopped steak. She said it was tasty, but a little greasy. All in all an ok experience. The meal total was less than the steakhouse we usually eat at. The noise level was the biggest negative!
