For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. The service here was friendly and the food was good. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. This particular Waffle House was clean, the waitress, Mykayla, was super friendly and the cook, Tarzan (assuming he goes by Lamar as well since this is what the waitress called him) was silent, but, deadly with the cooking process. Being from the Midwest, the grits we usually get are instant so I was super excited to get some homemade yumminess (or at least instant made in a way that wasn't plain and pasty). I was not disappointed! The rest of the food was awesome as well. Eggs over medium on point, hash browns crispy on the inside and soft in the middle (same description for the waffles) and perfectly browned toast. Waffle House is known for being open 24/7, so we were disappointed when we had just spent 12 hours on the road, and came here for a quick bite, just to have the employee tell us they're closed negate she doesn't feel like taking any more orders, and she's just there with the lights on, not doing anything. Judging from the reviews of the Bob Evans across the street, we had our delicious breakfast, drank our fresh coffee, paid our bill and argued about whether or not I should post this review in the time it takes the Bob Evans folks to realize there's dust on the water the greeter left them. When in Lake City, get your breakfast here, unless you have a problem with lightning-fast, friendly service and textbook, unbroken over-easy eggs that quiver on the plate waiting for your fork to gouge them. One of my favorites is the one right off of I-65 in Montgomery, Ala. Its sign was burned out for months on end, during which time the enticing glow of "AFFLE HO" beckoned for miles away. Anyway, the reason this Interstate Waffle House merits a yelp is the live entertainment. As I downed my coffee and hash browns, two slattern lasses ambled up to the counter. This dishwater dull duo sluggishly ordered and slumped down into the least animate conversation I have ever witnessed whilst sober. Then, the throbbing pulse of Lady Gaga filled the restaurant, and these women were possessed by a spiritual awakening of Pentecostal proportions. These lovelies began to get down to Paparazzi with a vengeance. It was like Fame meets Hee Haw meets Studio 54 on meth. I was enthralled. Valentine's Day morning not sure what to expect as I walked in since this was my first time eating here for breakfast In a new city. I'm all for listening to music but wasn't expecting a juke box for people to choose their own songs. Im eating breakfast not dancing at a night club. I love rap don't get me wrong but not at 9:00 am while trying to eat my meal. It was so loud and don't get me started on the bathroom... Filthy.
