Easily the absolute nastiest Waffle House we've been to. Dirty. Dirty. Dirty. We still stayed...don't ask why, I don't know. As I type, my gut is regretting it. I chose a place at the counter. The menu was STUCK to the counter. So was my husband's. Crumbs from the last customer were still there. We stuck it out anyway. Terrible choice to be able to see behind the counter. The cook showed up (late, and by the sounds of it, this is normal) and took over cooking. I watched the waitress start to butter toast (not ours) drop the butter on the counter, then scoop it up and spread it on the toast. Just gross. After we were served, more customers came in and when the cook came out to cook, he already had his gloves on and was touching every surface and thing around - so what's the point? When the waitress wasn't taking an order, which was almost the whole time we were there, she sat at the counter using her phone...not wiping counters or cleaning up for the next customers. The triple order was decently sized but could have been crispier. It also was light on the add-ins with a scattering of onions, 6 or 7 canned mushroom slices and a blob of cheese. So I went in and sat down they have a menu looking place mat thing in place at every seats it has like five items on it for break fast and 5 items for lunch. So I ask if this is the menu can I get a full menu. But apparently you can't get one at Waffle House anymore you have to guess what their menu is . So my kiddo started talking about Waffle House after watching a video about it on You Tube. Being 4 years old, he only eats certain items. We decided to take him to this location as a treat. He was totally stoked. It was super slow when we walked in, but we were immediately greeted. Jordan was our service and he was awesome. So friendly and polite, and made a big deal out of the kiddos first visit. The food was cooked well and quickly. The burger was good, and so was the waffle (yes I got a burger and a waffle...sue me). A blistering level 3 snow emergency kept us hostage in Wood County while the snow was coming down. Me and my friends wanted some good food for the ride back and Waffle house lovely glowing sign shone like a beacon of like for us through the 2-5 feet high snowy hills. The place was warm and welcoming and the girls working there greeted us and seated us. We immediately began ordering from the combo place sets that they had on the menu. I ended up getting strawberry pancakes with a bacon hash browns with water with bit of lemon. Food came out hot and tasty. When I'm out of town, I'll eat out 3 times a day. Lol. They were quick with service, but the restaurant felt dirty or dingy. MAybe it's the vibe. There was no one else in the restaurant when we came in. But about 6 waitresses and a cook. I think they have to cook their own orders maybe? Prices were .... fair. But the quality was.... lacking. Pecan waffle was thin but realllllly good. I'd go back if it was at night and I wanted breakfast. But I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go there again. The service has always been terrible everytime I go. The severs always seem like they don't want to be there - and I get it, it's work, but this is to the next level. There is no hospitality, not even the most basic level of service. As a vegetarian, I knew my options were limited. I ordered an egg, cheese and grits plate. The eggs - which were inexplicably moist - had a single slice of lukewarm American cheese on top; that's what they consider egg and cheese. Everything was covered in butter - not just a lot but rather swimming in it. The plate was overrun with it. It was as if someone turned on a hose connected to a butter truck and sprayed the contents of the plate for about five minutes. The toast was so saturated with butter that it had a wet, spongy texture. The food here was awful. It makes Denny's look like a 5-star gourmet destination. Waffle House is an American institution. Every city and state needs their own Waffle House. I love that they are one of the few places that are open 24-7 and wish there were more places like this. I was greeted when I walked in the door, quickly seated, water was brought out, my order was taken, and the coffee came fast. The dining room was clean and all of the tables were or were quickly bussed. The food came out quicker than I expected. I got the two egg breakfast with smothered onions and ham on my hash browns. The bacon was cooked to perfection, crispy with just a little bend. Mixed my own jelly with a strawberry and a grape. After bringing out my food, they came out to check up on me, and toppped off my coffee twice and refilled my water at my request. I was able to get my bill and pay quick and was happy to leave a tip. From MI it was around 2am with no options to eat anything until we stumbled into the Waffle House. From the minute we sat down to the minute we left Cody the cook made us feel right at home with and amazing scrambled egg sandwich to boot. We have never been to a Waffle House and we won't ever go back. There were 4 of us, only 3 ordered. Two ordered just a Waffle and one ordered the 2 egg breakfast with bacon. The bacon came completely over cooked. They tried again but it was so fatty that it was inedible. The eggs were covered in grease. The second Waffle never showed up. The worst food and service we have ever had. The staff didn't know what they were doing and the waitresses were complaining about the customers.
