Scrambled Eggs w/ Grits and Toast
    Jerry E.

To start with, I have been a Waffle House fan for a very long time. It is a special kind of place (if you know you know). If you don't know about them, it is a little breakfast food place with simple diner items. My most favorite item is Hash Browns all the way but hold the gravy. It has ham, cheese, mushrooms, tomato, jalapenos, and topped with chili. With 2 eggs over medium, and a Pecan Waffle. I don't score compared with any other restaurant, just against Waffle House. It is not a modern hipster place. They've been around a long time (but this is a pretty new one). I love my regular order (above). As long as its cooked right it will be a 5 star. It was cooked right. Although she seemed kind of new, our server got it right, and did a good job. If you come here, expect "Waffle House." Not necessarily for some people. But I enjoy the food and service.

We pulled up at 4:15 AM on a Tuesday to an empty parking lot. We thought about it and then went in. The restaurant smelled clean, and all the workers spoke to us. We sat at the bar and ordered 2 all stars. The food came out exactly as ordered and within minutes. The place was surprisingly quiet, and although there was a TouchTunes jukebox, I chose to enjoy the rare calm of a peaceful Waffle House as I may never experience this peacefulness ever again. 5 stars to the workers as they were cleaning and getting ready for the morning rush. I do recommend this location to everyone... especially at 4 AM.

The food was ok, I had the cheesesteak, grits, eggs and toast, i must say this is the first time I had to put salt on my food. The staff were friendly, the establishment is small,if the 5 tables are occupied, then there's a slight waiting period to be seated.

Decided to give Waffle House a try for the first time yesterday. It was pretty slow when we visited around 7pm. The server we had was super attentive and friendly. The establishment was clean and the food is cooked right in front of you. Prices are quite resonable as well so that's a plus. The Grilled Cheese with a side of Chili with cheese on top was simple but decent. I asked for the Grilled Cheese to be a little more on the crispy side so I was pleased with how it came out. Not really a fan of the Chili which made me think of Wendy's chili. I probably wouldn't get that again. We also got the Hashbrown Bowl with Bacon and an Easy Over Egg. The bacon was thick, the hashbrowns were nice and crisp and the egg was cooked just right so when eaten all together it was delicious. The Waffle was probably my favorite. I prefer a more crispy waffle so I think next time I'd probably ask if that's an option, however, we really enjoyed it. Overall, it was a good meal for the price we paid and I'd return again for breakfast in the future.

I came in this past weekend and ordered a few menu items, but for the purpose of this review, I'm just gonna go with what I got for ease of reading! If you've never been to a waffle house, this chain makes claims to be the world's leading seller of several of its menu items--the namesake waffles, ham, pork chops, grits, and T-bone steaks. It also claims that it serves 2% of all eggs in the United States (that's wild). This Waffle House location is relatively small and in times of extended waits, customers stand along the windows hovered over counter customers who are eating their meals eagerly waiting for them to finish (a little unnerving if you ask me). Let's get to it, shall we? All-Star special I ordered the All-Star special with hashbrowns while adding pecans to my waffle. The waffle was a bit limp, which leads me to believe that the batter was overworked. The hash browns were crunchy and burnt, which was disappointing. The bacon was thick cut and had just the right amount of salt. While the Waffle House may not have the best waffles around, it may be a neat experience for those who want to experience a little bit of Americana on a plate.

The food at any Waffle House can be a hit or miss depending on the staff. But overall my experience has always been a pleasant experience. This is the new Waffle House in town. So this place is super busy with the hype of it being new! Their current hours are 7am to 3pm everyday until we start the new year. Maximum occupancy is 45 people. This place seems a little smaller compared to the rest of the ones I have been in the area and out of state. Parking is plentiful but tight for larger vehicles. Today all the staff were super busy and friendly everyone here had smiles on their faces! Which is always a great thing. With it being a facility they had everything in order to include the waitlist and making sure folks weren't sitting themselves and cutting the line. They have a juke box inside so you can pick songs to play while you're eating. They accept contactless payment such as Apple or Google Pay, contactless debit or credit cards.

As hard as this may be to believe, I have never been to a Waffle House before. Yep. This was my very first visit to a Waffle House! This one has been open for just over a week now, and clearly, the training crew is still in-house here as I write this. I gotta say, it was not the infamous Waffle House experience I have often heard about. There were zero fights or angry ranting by anyone while I was here. Quite the opposite. It was Christmas night and basically the only place open so it was packed with people, but everyone was happy and friendly. And even with all the people milling around, we were still seated within 10 minutes. Plus it looked like they were really on the ball behind the counter. My wife and I split the patty melt with hashbrowns. I thought it was delicious, but my wife was disappointed that there really wasn't any patty included with the patty melt. The meat is more akin to what they use in Philly cheesesteaks as opposed to a true ground beef patty, and that annoyed the wife because her mind was set on a hamburger. Nevertheless, I loved it, and the hashbrowns were as good as you can get anywhere. The service was fantastic! Once this place has been established and the training crew is long gone, I will have to return sometime very early on a Sunday morning and see what sort of experience this place has to offer, but for now, it is likely the most perfect Waffle House on the planet.

Waffle House #2446 in Pflugerville, Tx. A long awaited addition to our local restaurant portfolio. In my house we have a "Love/Hate" relationship with "WH". I love it for the menu selection, the price and value and their amazing grits. My wife...well...not so much. So today while running errands I made plans to hit up the "WH" first. Seated quickly at the counter, where I meet a lovely couple here for a daughter's wedding. I wasn't to sure on what I wanted, so my server Brittney was very patient in assisting me. I got two egg breakfast with meat, toast and grits. It was everything I imagined it to be. The food came to me hot, bacon crispy, grits perfect and toast cooked to perfection. I couldn't have made it this fast myself. I absolutely love it. Every bite. I noticed everyone at the counter had the same opinion of their meals. This location hasn't been here long, maybe 6 months. But the crew is coming together. They flow well and flawless. They work well together, and keep busy, cleaning, preparing for the next guess and they make your experience special. I will sneak back whenever I can. Michael C. - Georgetown, Texas

Definitely one of the nicest waffle houses I've been to - it was clean and the employees were super friendly. Our order came out really fast - my breakfast biscuit sandwich was cheesy and tasted great. Coffee was good. My sister got the waffle - I do wish that the waffle prices were cheaper since it looks like they're more expensive than they used to be.

Longish wait but once you get a table the service is very quick. This place runs like a well oiled machine. The guy that looked like the manager Steph was running the place so well. My eggs were some of the fluffiest I've have at a breakfast chain. It was my first time and boy am I anticipating my next visit. There is a jukebox that you can choose music you want from the past songs to today's hits.

I take my hash browns scattered, smothered, covered and capped.

"Welcome in! Good morning!" as you're greeted on entering. If you have any friends from other countries come visit who want to go to a "real American restaurant," I seriously recommend taking them to breakfast at a Waffle House, especially if your area is short on actual diner-type places. I'm not a WH regular, but have been a few times in the Austin area. Waffle Houses are usually located off a major highway or intersection, as is this one in Round Rock. It's not that big, and on normal mornings (such as the Friday in May that I visited) you should expect a wait; give your name to the gentleman who greets you as above, and have a seat by the window until your name's called. Anticipation builds appetite. Despite its reputation for late-night brawls (I only go during breakfast hours, so I wouldn't know), service is cheerful and the staff and clientele are generally very polite; if everyone cooperates, everyone leaves satisfied. Part of the fun of eating at a WH is watching the cooks work their egg/bacon/sausage/home fries magic in the open kitchen just a few feet away, especially if you sit at the counter. (There is something quasi-military about the drill precision of the Waffle House ballet, from the cooks to the greeter to the cashier, all of whom seem to be in constant motion. This location's staff knows the drill back and forth.) The coffee isn't the best you'll ever have, but it's fresh and quickly refilled. The quality of the food is almost beside the point; it is what it is, and you won't leave hungry. (If you go for the waffles, I recommend either the pecan or chocolate chip variety.) Don't fear the waffle or the house; just dive in and be an American for half an hour.

I came here around 8:15 AM it was a bit busy, but we got seated immediately. A nice gentleman was opening the door for those who came in. It was loud and did seem a bit chaotic behind the counter. Our server, Chelita, attended to us immediately. She was so sweet! We didn't know what meal to order for what exactly we wanted and she quickly was able to tell us which meal to order and what to add on with it. My bowl came out first and the plate came out 10 minutes after. My hashbrowns were a bit undercooked but it was still very delicious. My eggs were perfect and so fluffy!

12/23/23 two egg plate with soft scrambled eggs cooked perfectly. Hashbrowns were great as well.

I think Chicken…read moreFried Steak is an item that has kept the people of the Southern United States together regardless of interests, jobs, intelligence, and opinions. It is a unifying meal of blue-collared and white-collared people alike. It is a food that unifies the vast cultures of the south. There is no debate when there is a Chicken Fried Steak. Soul food and southern food are so severely important to people who were raised in the south because the overall feeling of those cuisines is that it feels like their Grandma is cooking dinner. Now if you look at my Yelp profile picture for a fraction of a second and maybe stereotype a little, you can accurately assume that my Grandma's cooking would fit in the latter and you would maybe wonder if my grandmother knows what seasoning is. If you have had her chili, you would say no. The famous Texan Cafe & Pie Shop in Hutto is a classic Southern diner that is always a perfect pick-me-up meal and is a truest staple of the area. When I first visited Hutto before moving I looked for places to try, and the abundant and sheer quantity of reviews for Texan Cafe made it clear that I had to try it. That was just over a year ago, and I still remember parking my car in the lot across the street and walking into the cozy diner with wood chairs and booths, red tablecloths, and so much decor on the walls it might be a museum, and I felt right about moving to Hutto. I was seated immediately and almost instantly ordered the Chicken Fried Steak smothered with white gravy, of course, with sides of Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes. It was not long before the beautiful plate hit my table, and I destroyed everything on that plate. When I thought it was over, I was handed the dessert menu that was two full rows worth of pie and other options. I was mesmerized by the length of it and was overwhelmed by the options. I texted my parents to tell them and suddenly I was going back to San Antonio with slices on slices worth of pie for them to have. When my parents came up to help move me in, they wanted to go to the Texan. They were impressed with how great the meal was alongside the pies. Pies that they bought extra of to take back with them to San Antonio. When I started my job, the first meal they took us new hires to was the Texan. I tried their Blue Plate Special and found out that Chicken Fried Pork Chops exist and fell in love with that. When my brother came and visited meeting my parents and me in Hutto, we went to the Texan. We enjoyed their appetizers and everyone had to have a slice of pie. Options for everyone. When a friend came and visited, she took a solo trip to the Texan while I was at work then told me she took the best nap of her life after. My buddy and I decided to go randomly one day after work to try their Hot Pie with Brandy Sauce. That thing is a tank and is worth a visit to try alone. What a sweet creation. When my girlfriend visited me in Hutto, I took her to the Texan and she will randomly text me about how much she misses the pie. I try to get her a slice every time she comes and visits. It is her favorite thing. It is clear to see why it is a favorite to so many because everyone I have taken to the Texan has left a fan wanting to come back. I brought my grandparents home a full Blueberry pie from the Texan Cafe which my grandma told me "was the best I have even since I was a little girl. Not too sweet with a great crust. Just right. A blueberry pie is my favorite." I know this review is less of a review and more of a collection of vignettes of many stories built inside the walls of the Texan Cafe, but that is what is so beautiful about southern hospitality and southern diners. That is why there is so much decor about the extensive history of Texan Cafe and the culture of Hutto on the walls. I went back this afternoon for the first time in a short while, but I find myself continuously impressed by the quality of the food, the efficiency as a whole, and just how welcoming everyone is inside. Their pies are just truly next level. Today, I went for the Chicken Fried Pork Chop Blue Plate Special which is truly heaven sent, potato salad, fried okra, and a slice of their cherry pie. It is a meal you feel blessed to eat and a restaurant you love supporting because of it. Every pie I have had at the Texan is better than any other pie I have eaten. They could be a full time bakery and still be the monument of Hutto. It just happens they have food that warms your heart too. RIYL: Grandma's cooking if it was not dry

I said this was my first time here, and that I was excited to try them. She was super polite, very friendly. She sat me at a booth. She walked away for a quick minute and came back with a water glass and a small pitcher of ice cold water. My server came around. And gave me my menu and said you gotta try the whiskey Cake. Cake? Did someone say cake? Yes please. With cake on my mind. I thought I better balance this out. So I played it safe and got the grilled chicken salad. Also she said everything is house made from scratch, such as the cocktails, juice, salad dressing and so on. I did order a juice from the bar. It was the Jessica Wabbit with mint, carrot, lime, ginger, and some other flavors. The drink was handed to me first. Lovely flavors, could taste the fresh mint, fresh ginger. A little sweetness with the pineapple. Brilliant mix of flavors. The salad was very large. Dressing was fresh, rich with basil and garlic. Chunks of bacon and wedges of hard boiled eggs, avocado chunks, blue cheese scattered around, and the grilled chicken, warm juicy and beautifully chard. Love that charred flavor. The salad dressing was really delectable. Wonderful salad. Next came the whiskey cake. This cake should be its own food group. The cake itself has a beautiful flavor, it's a little dense, in a good way. The sauce is outstanding, it's toffee and sweet. Heavenly really. Pecans on top are spiced. I could only eat half of the cake. I'll snack on that later tonight. The food was outstanding. I would love to come back and try other food items. Service was perfection. I had so many wonderful conversations with everyone I came in contact with. I was wished well by everyone I passed by. Even in the bathroom, the host was coming out and she asked how my visit was. I mean, just the most genuine southern hospitality. Top notch service! Parking lot was packed. And they do have a pretty large lot all around the building. The whiskey cake is probably this restaurant's saving grace as the cake is decadent moist, and the combination of the pecans with the caramel and the whipped cream all just make it so delicious. It was definitely worth the wait to have it at the end and in retrospect, it probably would have done well to have first since the food that we ordered was a little more on the lackluster side. I found it hard to be impressed by the prime rib and Gouda stack as they were no defining flavors for this rather expensive sandwich and the mac and cheese was also not very memorable. When it comes to the service provided at the restaurant, there were many times where it felt as though our table had been forgotten to be waited upon, despite there not being many other people at the restaurant. Overall, I think my experience at Whiskey Cake was OK and while I may not return for the food necessarily, I would for the cake.
