Waffle House has become an iconic presence on the culinary landscape here in the southeastern United States. It seems that their familiar logo beckons in all of its bright yellow neon glory road-weary travelers, partying college kids, parents with kids in tow, hungry workers seeking a casual and quick sit-down meal and just about everyone else from every walk of life. This particular location is just off of Interstate 10. Walking in, the place makes me remember my many visits to various Waffle House locations. Since Waffle House opened its first location back on September 5, 1955 in Avondale Estates, Georgia, it quickly established itself by offering a consistent selection of food and by being open twenty-four hours a day. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try.

Waffle debris left to build up and look at the disgusting floor.

Dirtiest Waffle House I have been too. They need to shut it down and deep clean. Look at the disgusting pile in front of the waffle maker.

Waffle House has that ol' American diner feel. The service is usually great and this location was great the grits here was not as dry as the other location. Tried the pecan waffles for the first time and it was great. The staff is great, attentive and respectful. The All star special is a great breakfast!

    Fiesta Omelette - my favorite!

I have been both an employee and a customer of the Walden Road Store #1446 Waffle House for a grand total of 18 years now, 4 of the former and 14 of the latter. But to this day, I still stop in for breakfast. You simply cannot go wrong with a pecan waffle and country ham or the Fiesta omelet with raisin toast and grits! Over the years, this location has had its highs and its lows. I'd say they are currently in their highs, with a friendly staff who provides good overall service and keeps the restaurant fairly clean. Walden Road also has an "Rockstar" grill operator, who has been there for several years now (shout out to Paul!). For those not familiar with the Waffle House Grill Operators program, a Rockstar is amongst the highest ranking grill op in the program. Paul is always good-humored, yet focused and whips up Good Food Fast every time. It's always a pleasure to walk in and know my food is in good hands. I'll be back in soon for my pecan waffle! :)

I mean, it's a Waffle House. The eggs are solid, the hashbrowns great, and the waffles? It's probably why you went there.

Popular, maybe too popular? Anyway, scored two bar stools and sat down to watch the show. The cook line is right in front, and the bartenders have to make the deserts and fresh Sour Mix. Scratch kitchen, even the french fries, all prepped before our eyes. Bartender Justin could teach courses in mixology and multitasking. Amazing!!!! Justin was on point both times we dined there. Loved the Bison hats some of the line cooks bravely donned! Then there's the Bison. Got the short ribs. I could eat these often. Never had beef that compared. And, Bison is grass-fed and free range to boot, lol, on Ted's thousands of acres of protected prairie lands. Three months later, different day, same quality experience. For two people, take the bar seats with kitchen line view. Be patient and courteous, and it will pay off. Saw a lot of messy large parties and some entitled customers. Get reservations if there are more than two diners. Did I say they have the Bartenders make the deserts!? I would parse that out to speed up things. But...they want to be a restaurant with a bar, not the other way around. Thanks Ted, for all you did and continue to do. Peace my brother.

R&R at Hotel Indigo in Tallahassee, FL…read more Stayed a couple nights at Hotel Indigo on a work trip and naturally ended up at R&R more than once because: location, location, location. Easy access plus a bar meant repeat visits. Let's start with the GOODS the drinks! I stopped in to the bar multiple times and the cocktails are where they shined for me. Ryan the bartender - WOW next level. Superb! Knows his stuff, and made every drink a hit for me. My top pick? The Juju, hands down my favorite. But I also got a sneak peek of a new drink coming to their seasonal menu called the Lily Pad, and OMG mmmmmm. So good. Bright, refreshing, well-balanced. Totally check out my photos for that one. Now... about breakfast. It's a No for me. Enough. I had the Nashville Honey Chicken Biscuits and they are a FAIL, a No. Dry, sad, biscuits with fried frozen chicken nugget in it and not worth $16. It's an embarrassment to the establishment. The Cortado, also a miss!... but it was coffee and I needed to get going to work. R&R, please rethink breakfast: 100% did not meet the price point. Skip breakfast or walk across the street, there's a bagel shop. The hotel indigo is really cute and I'll probably write a review about that on a separate, the place is overall cute, but there's very limited food places around the hotel. So in conclusion, I will give you an extra star for the convenience and the bar. After my experience for breakfast, I did not care to come here for food at all anymore. Expensive cheap food. Just because they're helped by a great bar and a beautiful hotel and a great location..

I tried to get another table but was told other tables were already reserved. So we decided to stop complaining to ourselves and just go with it. That was the ONLY major negative experience at Table 23. Other smaller negatives were ice water from the machine that tasted like the plastic devices it came out of. We requested tap water and it was promptly served and solved that problem. Our waiter did a fabulous job and he was always moving fast to his tables. Sometimes though it took him a while to attend to our needs but that really wasn't his fault. That waiter was A+. I think the restaurant needs another waiter to spread the workload a bit. My wife ordered a Bees Knees drink and it was delicious, almost like a dessert. I drank my usual beer. We ordered Okra and Gorgonzola chips which were quite interesting. For our entrees, my wife ordered the flounder and I ordered redfish. Both dishes were beautiful in presentation but even mores in taste. The flounder came with a sauce that had lemon in it and it was 100% delicious, as was the flounder. My redfish came sitting in the middle of a generous serving of fabulous, delicious creamy grits. After my first bite of that fish and those grits, I knew I had hit a jackpot and thanked my good fortune in ordering it. And for a dessert we choose a shared flourless chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. visually it was just beautiful and the richness of chocolate and flavor was absolutely out of this world. We are looking forward to our next visit to Table 23 and it will be tempting to order the same things but the menu has many wonderful choices. What a fantastic delimma.

Everything was excellent! The salmon was especially flavorful and tender! Even though I was full, my friend and I split a slice of key lime pie that was light abnot overly rich or sweet. A great finish to the meal.

When I read the email announcing tonight's Chef's dinner, we couldn't resist. No one, and I mean NO ONE, can fry an oyster better than Chef. Perched atop a great classic--deviled egg with bacon bits--the oyster was tender with a light batter-fried coating. Chef's duckfat cornbread drizzled with just the right amount of avocado butter provided the perfect podium on which two blackened shrimp lightly dusted with a hint of subtle spices rested. If you know me, you know I don't like my food to hurt me, and this dish met my requirements with a whisper of, "Here I am." Now, my hubby doesn't like anything with coffee, so he was worried about the hickory smoked chicken with espresso molasses BBQ sauce. However, he admitted the sauce didn't have any hint of coffee and, in fact, it was a delicious complement to the chicken. As for the pancetta Mac 'n' Cheese, its creamy cheesiness balanced out the smokiness of the chicken. Chef Joseph often offers one of his Pot de Crème varieties to finish a meal. I always look forward to them. Tonight's Pineapple White Chocolate version was a perfect finish to a perfect dining experience. Sparkling wines and summer--the perfect pairing.
