I come here at least once a month to grab a to go order. They always make our food perfect how I order it and the staff is great! But today they went above and beyond. An older gentleman, who looked to come here frequently, was finished. One of the servers went to put something in a bag in his walker, brought his walker to him, and helped him get up. Pleasantly surprised by this Waffle House. My grandmother and I visited here because it was one of my grandfather's favorite restaurant options and it just kinda felt...nostalgic. It's a Waffle House though, so we weren't expecting much. That said, this place was pretty enjoyable. The waitress we had was super sweet and friendly, the kitchen staff was consistently cleaning floors, counters, and whatever else during our time in the restaurant, and the service was prompt. Then there's the obligatory note of how the prices are pretty cheap. As far as cheap food goes? I was admittedly more impressed with this Waffle House location and the service they provided and whatnot than I was at Ezzells, even though the latter seems to get rave reviews from the folks in or around the area (which I don't understand - at all). Anyway, our waitress was very attentive - consistently coming back to refill our coffee and check on us and how we were doing. I was impressed with her friendly demeanor and service. Have eaten there three times in the last two weeks every time the tables never get cleaned off. They let the dishes sit on the table for 30 minutes while flies buzz the table. Okay, first this is a Waffle House so you're not going there expecting fine cuisine or you should be horsewhipped in the townsquare. The waitresses (except Angela) are friendly and efficient...there's banter from the cooks...my coffee cup is always full and well...I feel the love. Everyone knows Waffle House is best after 2 AM. After a night of throwing beers back at the Fat Pelican, we headed out to a nice 3:30 AM Waffle House trip. The food is as expected: overly sweet waffles, delicious freeze dried hash browns topped and covered with the underrated WaHo chili. This location stands out, well beyond the terrible Lexington, VA location I've enjoyed many times, thanks to the incredibly friendly service. I've never seen people working the graveyard shift be so chipper, especially with a bunch of drunk dicks like us. So kudos to WaHo Monkey Junction - they are the pinnacle for Waffle House service across the land. read more

This place has gone completely to the shit house. Their food preparation and cooks are just horrible. They can just cook what is called to them, they make what they want and how they want to eat it. The waitresses just don't pay attention at all so they can't get orders right. So when you have to correct them they get a huge attitude and stop waiting on your table. Not good. We have been there several times and if you get waffles, it's OK. But anything else...including the hash browns... Overcooked to death, dry as dirt, tasteless and unappealing. Now as to our final experience, last night: the previous shift had not bothered to prep gravy. My wife ordered gravy with the hashbrowns (as her main meal) and the cook did not bother to inform the waitress there was no gravy until after the plate had been delivered and commented upon. Then he said it "wasn't a big deal" in spite of the waitress trying to instill some professionalism into the rest of the staff. We won't be going back to this location, at least for a long time. The staff continued to argue among themselves, naturally within customer earshot, and most of them seemed not to care about the diners' experience at all. One was eating and others clustered around, complaining about working there. With that and overcooked food, why return? Yes you shouldn't go there expecting greatness, but a patty melt should still be tasty and the hash browns not burned and missing simple add-ons. It seems that every Waffle House I've been to is owned by absentee owners who are just collecting a check. The one in Fayetteville was a notable standout. For the rest, though, including this one, the staff seem to have free reign with zero standards for basic cooking, serving and restaurant etiquette. Went to this place this Labor day morning. A customer walked out the door vomiting everywhere all over the floor, foyer, and the sidewalk into her hand. She proceeded to return inside the restaurant where it was packed full of customers eating and went inside the bathroom. Staff was notified of the vomit everywhere and all they did was sweep it with a broom to the side. They were notified again there was still vomit everywhere and they returned with a bucket with no water and no sanitation. This is a serious health hazard to children and others with weakened immune systems. Will not be returning as I feel there has not been enough training in health codes and sanitation. read more

This location has to be the best diner I've ever been to. The servers were so nice and sweet. My server was very attentive with my drinks and dishes. The waffles were so delicious they might as well be the international house of waffles. This is coming from a pancake person. I also had a melt sandwich that was just so good it brought me to tears. I travel about 75% of the year for my job. I love eating in Waffle houses. But at this one I had a bad experience. The host was great. He got me seated at the bar. I know on the weekends it is busy, but after the waitress got my order it went down hill there. I ordered coffee with cream & sweetner. Got the coffee/cream took at least 3min for my sweetner and I had to ask for it again before I got it. For my meal I ordered the All Star breakfast with grits and a blueberry waffle. The waffle was was done and the person that was doing waffles yell out a couple of times. I had to ask another waitress to pass the waffle to me before it got cold. When the rest of the all star breakfast came and I really wanted grits. The grits was lumpy and looked old. It seem like it was a problem when I refused the grits and asked for hash brown potatoes. Well after all that I lost taste for my breakfast. I ask the waitress for a box to carry the remainder of my meal. It took her another 5 min to bring the box. I got up left to pay my bill and as I was at the register than she bring a box well, I didn't want the meal at that point. After all that I still left her a $2 tip. They need to get more organized and have more than one waitress working the front tables and bars on weekends especially when there is rush hour. It really has turn me away from waffle house. I came in to get some eggs and hash browns because they're my favorite to be hit with some of the worst customer service ever! I wasn't greeted, I was told by Dawn that she didn't take to go orders. When she went to get someone else, a short girl with blonde hair in a pink hat, who said that if they were too busy to take the order to not take it. The girl who said that disappeared after that. She comes back to me with magical powers and was then able to take my order. Once they noticed I was writing this as I waited, my food came out before others and they placed me at the front of the line to pay. I felt bad for those in front of me. Idk how I feel about this. There shouldn't have been a problem taking my order and first impressions are key so to think it's ok to get me in front of others to make it ok was pretty weak as well.
