Yesterday was my dad's Celebration Of Life so lots of family in town. Our loud but fun family came in & took over a big table- we couldn't have asked for a better exspiernce... our sever was so SO wonderful (I wish I could remember her name). Waffles Plus is review proof!! A place like this, in business for decades, survives this long because of friendly service, good food and a fair price. Our first visit was delightful. Couldn't even get served here. There were three people that seemed to be serving food and while they all made eye contact and smiled, our table was ignored. The food: Well this place definitely has more than just waffles. I had the chicken fried steak with hash browns and toast. The portions are large and even so I was able to finish my entire plate because it was delicious. Also, how can you go here and not try the waffles ! I tried a plain waffle and topped it with raspberry jam and butter and it was so good that I surprised myself on how much I could eat. If you are a gluten free eater they offer gluten free waffles and pancakes !!! The service: Awesome service ! I visit this place often with my grandparents, and we have never had an experience where we have been dissatisfied. Service is always outstanding and the food is always fantastic. Even on Sunday morning when I'm writing this review. Everyone is on top of everything in trying to get customers satisfied. They do breakfast. And they do it well! The owners usually come out to greet you and check on your experience, but I can tell you you will not be dissapointed! They have (as the name says) a variety of waffles, but they also have a ton of other options on the menu. I have yet to order waffles, but their regular fare is amazing! Both the owner and the food are mediocre, but at least there is room for improvement for the latter. I have never enjoyed WP too much over the last 20 years, yet because it is a local joint, I do try to frequent it once in a while. However, upon finishing up lunch with one of my friends, we overheard a heated phone conversation between the owner and the unfortunate recipient of his racist ire. He hung up the phone and said, "I am so sorry, but these 'orientals' are constantly..blah blah blah!" (I stopped listening after the racist proclamation). Aside from him calling us "honey" and "sweetheart" while topping off our coffee, which I was and always have been willing to overlook, the overt racism was too much for me to handle. I will never go back to this place. The omelet is a reflection of eggs that were depressed before being cracked and the waffle was wobbly and, honestly, Krusteaz makes a better batter. Waffles Plus is one of our favorite breakfast spots. We have even taken out of town guests there before! First, the prices are excellent. Right on for size of plates and quality. I always get a platter there and a waffle. I don't know what they do to make the waffles so excellent, but they truly are my favorite waffles I have ever had. The compotes are really good, too. I love the variety of syrup they provide. Food always comes out quick, hot and delicious. The ham steaks are no joke! They take up an entire plate! Earlier this week I met friends for breakfast here. First let me say you will not run dry of coffee. The staff is very attentive to making sure your cup is full at all times. They specialize in waffles and their prices reflect that and you might as well get as many coffee refills as you can as a cup is over $3.50. Breakfast (for me) was a waffle with one egg & 2 strips of bacon. A good Belgian style waffle plus trimmings was enough for me so no go box. Usually on my breakfast outings I try to take something home. Not this time because of what I ordered. That's not to say there aren't other choices on the menu, there are. I just didn't order that way this time. However, I have had similar meals elsewhere for less money. I found that the choices were a little on the high side, pricewise. Discovered this little place while visiting my mom. It's on the corner and there always seems to be cars in the lot. Their Belgian Waffles are so good. Lightly crunchy on outside and warm and tasty on the inside. With a choice of syrups, we both went with the raspberry and they give you plenty. I was ready to drink from the serving container it was that good! My mom wasn't too happy with their weak coffee. She grinds her own beans so maybe theirs just doesn't compare with hers. And yes, it's true, there is no signage. But you don't need a password to get in. After looking over their extensive menu, my husband settled on a combo of eggs, toast, and bacon with hot chocolate, and I ordered a giant waffle with ice cream, fruit, and whipped cream, and corned beef hash. We were feeling quite gluttonous. And why is hot chocolate always better at a diner? This has baffled me my entire life. To say the least, the hot chocolate here is amazeballs.
