I grew up in SF so had a lot of exposure to good Chinese food. With that being said, Wah Sing is our go to place in Napa. There are a couple of decent Chinese restaurants in the area but this place is #1 on our list. Location is right off the highway on Imola and it's easy to find with plenty of parking close by. Lunch specials are worth the price but make sure to check out their daily special board when you walk in. Veggies are always crispy and fresh. Lots of app recommendations: homemade dumplings are a must, egg rolls are not too greasy, and cream cheese puffs with sweet and sour sauce are all worth it. Chow fun is also a favorite, long pieces of green onion help flavor it perfectly. I like adding in beef (best choice from the meat selection). Can't go wrong with the honey walnut prawns as they are always cooked to perfection. My favorite is the pork mu shu, very big portion size and flavors marry well together. They are open for take out during COVID-19 and offer quick service (usually no more than 15-20 wait for your whole order). read more

Overall, good value and tasty if a bit different than what we'd hope for. We got beef chow fun, fried duck, and shrimp. Beef chow fun was good but a bit weird vs. other versions (this one has carrots, beef wasn't velveted, and they used oyster sauce issues of soy sauce). Fried duck was good and crispy but a little underseasoned. Braised shrimp was de-tailed but just a bit heavy handed in the white pepper. This is why I don't like taking chances... lol I'm staying at this little motel across tonight and saw that there was Chinese food literally across the street. Their yelp reviews all seemed to be hit or miss, so I just took a chance and ordered. The guy on the phone was a bit rude but I didn't make much of it because honestly all Chinese restaurants I've ordered take out from are rude. But it does seem like the majority of people order take out because there was really no one eating in the dining area and a line of people waiting to pick up their orders. I get the food in the car and it smells delicious. I noticed their to go orders don't come with napkins or utensils but maybe it's lost a little different out here than where I normally go at home. So the food I ordered was the Peking family meal for 2. It has beef broccoli, dragons desire (prawns) egg rolls, steamed rice and egg drop soup. The bag had all kinds of liquid in it because the mains were extremely saucy. Watery saucy... like it didn't stick to the meat or veggies and was more like a broth the food was sitting in, and ended up leaking out into the bag. The flavor was lacking in both dishes, but as other reviews had noted... it was edible still. Just add some soy sauce right?? The egg rolls were nice and crispy but were filled with nothing but cabbage. The soup was salty and thin bodied, but tasty. Anyways, this was a chance I took that ended up becoming a bomb. Great food with great value. As I watch locals after locals come to eat and to pick up Togo orders. I too now call this place " my go to". Most places serve dry bar b q pork , here tender and soft. I've lived in Napa more than any other place in my life. I had never been to wah sing until today when a business associate "in the know" bought lunch. Wow. Appetizers included potstickers and fried wontons. The potstickers were half again as big as any potstickers I've had and were delicious. My companion had a medium size bowl of wor wonton soup, which was actually huge and absolutely packed with ingredients including wontons, lots of shrimp etc. I had shrimp curry which included twice as many shrimp as I expected, in a very rich and flavorful curry sauce - it was better than any Chinese curry dish I've ever had. I'm into this place for Napa locals. I love Edwin and the gang - they are to the point and very nice. Always a smile for me. We get the same thing and we love it! Hong Kong style chow mein is great - chicken or tomato beef. The roast duck is great. Sizzling rice soup is great, vegetarian mu shu is lovely and the kids can't get enough broccoli beef. I grew up in Monterey Park, so my bar for Chinese food is pretty high. I wasn't a big fan before but I adapted, Wah Sing got better, and I just appreciate having a spot for locals. Bad weather had me arriving to Napa late and hungry. I was hoping for something warm and filling and nearby my hotel. I turned into the strip mall knowing they're be something. Taking a chance, e.g., not pulling up Yelp before entering, I found a quintessential Chinese restaurant. Tea and water came to hydrate me. The menu offers many options and I found myself compelled by the combination noodle soup. It came out quickly and hot...perfect for the cold evening. The broth had great flavor and the veggies were delightful. The shiitake mushrooms added good flavor. The noodles were lo mein noddles. All in all, good food and quality service. read more

My first time here. I was visiting my mom from out of town and she recommended this place because of their fried prawns. Unfortunately they weren't that good today. Very very bland. Almost no taste. My mom got the tender beef with greens. Unfortunately the lack of taste extended to the beef as well, and it was not tender. I had the Kung Pao chicken, which was good, although a little salty. The white rice was perfect. Not too loose not too sticky. The tea was tasty. The service was very good. Not sure if I would try this place again. read more

So the food is probably the best mainstream go-to Asian cuisine in Napa. It's just quirky. When you buy the lunch deal and eat in the restaurant, you get soup with your meal. If you get it to go, you do not get soup with your meal but it costs just the same. Quirky. And annoying if you like the soup. But the food really is good. Went to have lunch today and was told we could order to go they were closing at 3:00 and it was 2:45. I ordered orange chicken, lemon chicken, chicken chow mein , pot stickers & fried shrimp. The chow mein was blanched and bland the two chicken were without sauce and couldn't identify the sauce given. For $64.00 this was a loss. I would have been better going to Panda Express. Very disappointed and won't be returning I'll look elsewhere for Chinese food in the future. read more

This is honestly some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. The BBQ pork fried rice was excellent, and the orange chicken had fresh vegetables. Most Chinese restaurants' orange chicken has no vegetables, so this was a rare treat. A+ for both the food and the service. We will definitely be coming back to Wah Sing the next time we're in Napa. read more

I have been going to Wah Sing for perhaps 35 or 40 years now. I raised 3 children who, once they were able to, also ate there with mom and dad. I have yet to experience anything short of fabulous food. My kids are diehards who, to this day, go there either to dine in or grab some take out. Also, all of our friends here enjoy Wah Sing and they too rave about it. I can find no fault with their service. They are on top of any requests we ask of them with big smiles and personable approach. My missus and I are going there tonight on a Saturday and my mouth is salivating like mad. Tonight was the first night that I ordered from this restaurant and I was very disappointed in the quality of food. Before posting this review I chose to reach out to the restaurant and ask them if this was standard of their quality of food or if it was because I ordered late. The chow mein is under cooked, the eggrolls are the size of two or rolls and filled with nothing but cabbage and they're so greasy that it filled the entire bag full of Greece and made everything else that was packaged in the bag greasy. The man tells me he's been in business for 35 years and then asked for my phone number and he tells me he's going to look at what I ordered and call me back. I told him I can tell him exactly what I ordered and his only answer is well next time don't order that. The food is disgusting. I am calling my bank and I am disputing the charges because the food was not edible. Egg rolls are very hard to mess up and his solution was to hang up on me.... so not only is it bad customer service but the food is disgusting and it's a shame that this is all Napa has to offer. being in business for 35 years they should've learned at least one thing, to improve their quality of food. This place is consistently a miss for me. Service is friendly enough, but there is always something wrong with everything I've gotten here. Today's episode: ginger scallion beef and beef chow fun. I love ginger more than the next guy but this is ridiculous...inedible and disappointing. Gobs and gobs of julienne ginger (lots of it unpeeled) and the toughest meat I think I've ever tasted. My food was seved instantly, too fast. Three out of 4 items on lunch special were served at room temp. I complained and in moments my lunch was returned hot. I remember this place being good in high school, but I'm writing this review while shitting pure liquid hunched over from what I can only assume is food poisoning. I don't consider myself to have a weak gut either, I love Carolina reaper hot sauces and "the last dab" and don't even suffer from eating greasy stuff. Food had a weird aftertaste, girlfriend didn't eat it but I was dumb and wanted my money's worth and was very hungry. She's fine, I ain't. We've otherwise had the same food. Some of the worst tasting, blandest Chinese food you'll ever have... There is absolutely no reason to come here, unless you live in Napa, and you are desperate for Chinese food. The issue is, that there are barely any other Chinese places in the town of Napa or surrounding, and they all pretty much suck pretty bad unless you're going someplace that's super expensive and gourmet (alas, there is great Vietnamese and Thai and mediocre sushi). The only reason this place even gets 2 stars is because they are nice, they are fast, and they make somewhat decent chicken fried rice if you are in a pinch and really hungry... like, it's edible.
