The service is very good and the establishment is very clean. I love the open seating and the big windows because it makes eating in the restaurant a treat. I'm mainly writing this review because I discovered the potato tacos (they are new on the menu), and I can't believe I hadn't tried them sooner. I have been craving crispy tacos filled with potatoes for about a month now (because I had some from HomeState in LA earlier this year), but I couldn't find a restaurant that made them like I wanted. Let me tell you, these potato tacos from Wahoo's did not disappoint! Please try them! If the restaurant takes them off the menu, I will be so sad. This Wahoos is right by my church and opens at 10:30, making it a regular stop for me and the family. Often start with chips and taquitos, yelp really wants that to say taqueria... Over the years I have evolved into a Wahoos salad guy, carnitas is tasty, but I get fish more often. My girls want enchiladas while the youngest two want Maui steak bowls... I do swear the burritos have shrunk over the years, the banzai burrito used to be a monster, now I want 2... Today has been one of the most memorable evenings as my crew are working hard and we are working late to make things happen... Didn't know what time Wahoo closes... but came upon a Red Headed Angel that made it happen for us... My boyfriend loves Wahoo's so we had to stop by on our way to Downtown Disney. He gets the outta reef burrito with salmon and thinks it is delicious (I didnt try it). I got the chicken salad, it was okay. The chicken tasted processed and not fresh, the lime dressing wasn't very good. I'd come back because my boyfriend loves this place and try something different next time. But if it weren't for him I prob wouldn't come back, just wasnt very impressed. Y'all forgot to put the sauce on the Kalua pork. The spicy chicken tacos were bland and not good. Last time I ordered the Kalua pork I was given teriyaki steak instead... the quality of the food at this particular location is sub-par. Well, I must say the people there are as terrific can be. Very nice and friendly. The seating is surrounded by lots of surfing and other fun things used by seaside locals at one time. You could see this place along an ocean boardwalk. The food is always good when we come there. I usually get fish tacos, rice and beans. But the last time I was shocked though I shouldn't be. What used to be around $11.00 is now about $18.00. As take out is now I've become more choosy on where and when to make the drive. And ask for help when ordering. It can be complicated. read more

In terms of service, you can tell some of the part time workers look like they can care less about being there or answering questions, but there was one older lady who actually went around greeting customers and asking tables if they needed anything else. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by Letty and Adriana,both cashiers working behind the counter. Place is a bit older,has its share of new needs like a re vamp on restroom,still asking for a key vs maybe a key code on your receipt. But back to service and food. Letty offered 3 choices on my salad toppings,both I choses were deliciouse on my fish tacos a la cart. Hubby had protein bowl. Amazing ingredients n flavors! If could eat more tacos,I would have! Been coming to this location for 20 years. Tonight was the first time I was disappointed. Which is good.... Great track record ordinarily. But they raised their prices and tonight they served stale chips... they were out of guacamole even though we were charged for it... and they served only plasticware, plainly stating "we don't have any silverware so you will have to use plastic". I hope this location makes some changes so they stay a relevant and quality quick service food option. read more

I've been to Wahoo's before (albeit awhile ago) and remember the food being pretty tasty. Not sure what happened but my experience at this location was bad. I ordered the carne asada platter w/ rice and beans. At first, I was super excited since the plate was overflowing with food and I felt like I got a good bang for the buck. However, after a few bites, I was horribly disappointed. The entire fish was cold (barely lukewarm) and the rice/beans were under cooked. Since they were so grainy, I couldn't eat most of it (what a waste since I love black beans). The beef pieces were chewy and cold with a nasty texture. The only edible part of the platter was the corn tortillas. That's basically what I ate - corn tortillas for lunch. Never again! read more

What happened to this place? I used to come here at leaaaaast 2-3 times a week but now I don't think I will ever return. The service and overall experience used to be awesome 24/7 but lately, it's just gone straight downhill. Last month, I came in and ordered my food (salmon bowl with white rice) to go and sat down to wait. After waiting for ten minutes, a girl notified me that were out of white rice and it would be another twenty minutes if I wanted to wait. I agreed but when thaaat twenty minutes passed, she came back out to say it would be another thirty minutes. I just decided to go with brown rice instead of waiting so I could go on with my day. This was a little frustrating but hey, I understand that mistakes are made. After finally getting home and trying the brown rice, I noticed that I was chewing on something really crunchy. Now I usually get white rice so I wasn't sure if this was normal. I figured maybe the rice was stale and that I was just unlucky with this day. It wasn't until I got annoyed with the crunching that I decided to inspect the rice. I found out that this whole time, I have been chewing on little pieces of PLASTIC. Literal pieces of plastic. I found about six different pieces after so I spit my food out and didn't even bother finishing it. I decided to give them another chance today because I was nearby. When I got my food, I realized that my salmon had smelled abnormally fishy. I thought maybe I was being dramatic so I started eating, only to find deep black spots and areas all throughout the fillet. It was probably nothing buuuut I got grossed out, once again, and didn't finish my food. I don't want to have to worry about gross smelling food or plastic in it when I'm eating after a long day. I've been here when its slow and when it's crawling with people and never once has the service been anything under exceptional. I've been confused on where to throw away my scraps at the end and I've had staff run up on me insisting I don't do the work of cleaning up (in a friendly way). We ordered fish tacos & the enchilada platter. The crispy tacos were better than the blackened ones & the cheese enchiladas were were delicious. We sat outside to take our puppy with us & enjoyed their happy hour with a pitcher of Modelo, which was $5! That served less than 3 cups. This is my go to for quality fish tacos in SoCal. Their fried option uses Alaskan flounder and their grilled option is mahi mahi. Can't go wrong with either one. The food was pretty good and the service is fine but the cleanliness and hygiene of the restroom was appalling. And obviously I know all bathrooms have been used and aren't immaculately clean by any means and I've seen my share of dirty ones but this was actually horrific. The amount of dust piled up around the toilet and dispensers shows that it literally hasn't been cleaned in so long. And there was unspeakable bodily fluids (blood etc) everywhere. Also there were dead bugs stuck to the toilet seat covers. I was so disgusted that It ruined my appetite. I could barely get the food down after that. Although I will say the food tasted fine and I was able to stomach most of it. Just the images left in my head from that bathroom made me nauseous and made me question how their cleanliness is in the kitchen. It also does not help that I've had the worst stomach pains since eating here but I can't 100% say it was caused by the food here, it could've been another place we stopped at after. I couldn't find an inspection score posted anywhere so I feel that they need to post it somewhere more visible for our peace of mind. The fish in the tacos was VERY heavily breaded with an thin sliver of fish (?) in the middle. At least, I think it was fish, it really didn't taste any different than a chicken strip. The citrus slaw was very wet with an overpowering taste of black pepper, not sure what happened to the citrus. In fact, it was so wet that it makes the tortilla start to disintegrate before you are halfway through your taco. Really Wahoo? I expected better. Wahoo's never disappoints! It is my favorite spot. I had never been to this location before but was in the area so we gave it a try. I had my usual, grilled spicy fish tacos with citrus slaw and add avocado. 5 stars! They just always do a good job. There is a generous portion of grilled fish cooked really well. It is hard to find a fish taco that isn't battered and fried so I really appreciate Wahoo's for this option! The citrus slaw is so crunchy and has a great tang to it. I love adding avocado and some pico de gallo on top to create the perfect fish taco! I also had rice and beans this time and they were tasty as well. My sister tried the carnitas and a fish taco and liked them both. She said the carnitas was really good and liked it the best. My nephew tried the crispy fish taco and he really liked that version. I have this strange deep love for this Wahoo. I know they are a chain but there is something about this particular one that is awesome. Great food. Always good. Never disappointed. The staff is the best. They have this chill vibe thats great. The location is kind of tucked away and a little hidden. Maybe thats why its not packed. They also serve beer and have beer specials.
