Bag O Crab in Fullerton continues to be one of my reliable favorites. Good ambiance, very good seafood, and even better service. What impressed me this time was how well they handled a busy Friday evening with just three young staff members running the floor. They stayed calm, friendly, and on top of things. Christian especially stood out with his warm and affable personality, and the other two girls were also very helpful throughout. I have been here a few times now and the seafood has always been consistent. I keep coming back for the gumbo at lunch, and their shrimp platter is always a solid choice. Let me start off with we came in an hour before close, that out of the way I'd say our experience was Mid... if your hard up for some seafood boil it'll do it but with the availability of so many good options within a 15 min drive I don't think I'd be coming back here. Flavor profiles were not good :( Seafood was cooked well but no sauce really coating any other than the ones on the very bottom, flipped and tried soaking the other side of the bag but didn't help. Garlic noodles, not garlic goodness more of greasy goomess. We love Bag o' Crab in Ontario so when we were out in Ontario the other day and saw they had another location we knew we had to check it out. This Bag O' Crab turned out to be even better than our usual spot. It was spacious, clean, and had nice sea themed decor. They even had a robot that would bring out your food! Staff was very friendly and we didn't have to wait long at all for our food. We ordered the combo 1 with 2 pounds shrimp. Our go-to is the Combo 1 ($34.95) -- you pick any 2 pounds of seafood from crawfish, mussels, clams, octopus, or shrimp, and it comes loaded with 2 corns, 2 potatoes, and 4 sausage slices. It's an incredible deal. When we're really hungry, we tack on an extra pound of seafood and still walk away feeling like we didn't overpay. This is my new go to spot for seafood boil. Seafood is great quality, high freshness and packing with amazing flavor. Lots of places have been a let down but so glad I gave this spot a chance, you can really taste the freshness of seafood and the cleanliness of food and space overall. We ordered two combo 1's one with shrimp and crawfish the other with muscle and clams, both medium spice and atomic flavor. Flavor was 100% there and the medium level is a gradual heat kick but not overly spicy. Ordered garlic noodles (great flavor, different than other garlic noodles but not bad at all- kind of like a garlic udon without the soup), kids chicken tenders (very crispy and flavorful, actually big 3 pieces of chicken so definitely worth it), french fries (favorite part of the meal- kept it's crispy and crunch texture even when it got cold) and 1/2 dozen raw oysters (fresh and clean, wish it was serve with tabasco sauce rather than tapitio). 10/10 overall, I love the little service robot but the staff was very attentive and quick; it is hard to find a great seafood boil spot with great quality seafood and wonderful service at such a worth it price- will be coming back! read more

1/10 Garlic Noodles - If you ever come eat here, DO NOT EAT THE GARLIC NOODLES. These were the worst garlic noodles I have ever had. Who doesn't want to eat garlic noodles while eating their seafood? Great combo, right? WRONG. DON'T DO IT HERE. They are drenched in this awful soy-saucy sauce, made with huge noodles, and topped with just a scoop of garlic thrown on. Honestly, the worst garlic noodles I have ever tried. 10/10 Combo 1 - On to some great things about this spot, their combo! We got 2 lbs of shrimp, 2 corn, 2 potatoes, and 4 sausage slices. This is a way better deal than Boiling Crab and cheaper, too. The sauce we chose was the Atomic Sauce, which combines 4 sauces together. Delicious with every bite. 10/10 Cajun Fries - Deliciously fried and perfectly seasoned. I also asked for garlic on the fries, but instead of mixing it in, they just threw it on top, so I had to mix it up myself. However, the crawfish and shrimp did not taste fresh at all and there was a hair in our bag. The texture is slimy and mushy. We eat seafood often and this tastes old. I love seafood boil in a bag restaurants, but a big downside to them is that the seafood can be overcooked and then the crab or shrimp become mushy. Not with this place. This is one of the few seafood boil restaurants where the shrimp is tender, and the crab is fresh and the taste is delicious. Our server was super attentive and gave thoughtful recommendations since some of us can't handle super spicy food. Every time I come here I enjoy my meal. And how can you not love the robot cat! Parking isn't an issue since it's located in a large commercial area off of Harbor. I've also never had to wait for a table (I haven't tried coming on a weekend though). They offer bibs and gloves, and there's a sink right outside the restrooms if you just need a quick wash of hands. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

The fried fish is not that crunchy as expected but tasty. Same thing with oysters too - abit soft. But the fries and the sweet potato fries are nice and crispy. The gumbo was okey, nothing special...it's missing rice but I guess you have to order on the side. The combo, we got the crawfish & clam. The sauce is okey and we got spicy level, but it doesn't spicy at all. The sauce is just okey, not thing standout nor original. The corns are tasty and sweet. The crawfish & clam are abit tasteless, even with the sauce. The rib was just okey, the marinated is not what I expected but it just okey. Salad is good through. Bag O Crab hits OC! Located in a fairly known plaza which a lot of stores come and go. Parking is fairly easy and the restaurant itself is quite spacious. Came in on a Thursday late lunch which we were able to catch their happy hour. Happy hour is from 2pm - 5pm Monday through Friday 50% off all beer and fries. This is great if you're looking to start your evening off on the right foot! Was greeted by our server right away and was told we can sit wherever we'd like. There was about 4 other parties around 3PM. The restaurant itself felt clean and I was excited to try out another seafood boil spot! The menu itself had a decent variety of foods and as far as the seafood, you can order a half pound which is always a plus for light eaters or those that want to mix their order with the add-ons. FOOD: Cajun Fries ($2.50 during Happy Hour, $5 regular price): A light taste of Cajun and a bit on the sweet side. I noticed they made some adjustment to their fries as before their fries were thicker to almost steak fries, but now they're quite skinny like string fries just a slight thicker (enough to share for two). Half pound of the atomic/medium (all sauces combined) and an order of their sausages. Half pound came with 8 shrimps and 6 pieces of sliced of sausage. Today the shrimps were quite large overall and noticed some grill marks. The sausages is what you would typical expect. Solid flavor from the atomic and the medium was just right, not too spicy and not underwhelming. 1LB of shrimp atomic/ on fire xx (their hottest), my spice tolerance is pretty high and to me, it wasn't really spicy (I felt like it was a more medium heat, but my partner stated it was spicy). Tolerable spice, but I noticed in each bag it was heavily sauced which is a good thing. I think they took some notes from the past reviews and made some adjustments which is always great. My pound of shrimp came with 14 pieces (large shrimp size) and the side of corn was very sweet and not over boiled which paired well with the saltiness/spice from the atomic sauce. I appreciated the condiments given prior as it came with a tray of bagged lemons, a cup of salt/pepper, a bib and their own packaged gloves. They really thought out what their competitors were doing and made those adjustments to take their restaurant to the next level. Overall the customer service was great, the food came served by their robot and handed off by the server. We got checked up on multiple times to make our experience great. The server came by before happy hour ended to ask if we wanted to put in anymore orders in (drinks) kudos to her. As we always do in OC, we compare these different seafood boils to boiling crab and I must say this place was pretty solid.
