I come here often with my buddy Mali. He eats here every Friday. He LOVES Mexican food and LOVES people. Hector and his team have made Mali and I ALWAYS feel so welcomed. Hector and his staff have built a friendship with my buddy Mali. Soon as we walk in Hector and his staff bring a smile to our faces. Yikes. In an area where there are so many options, you would think customer service would be so much better. Rude Hispanic male server (worked on 7/7/19 in the AM) and the female server wasn't as rude but just didn't care to bring us a second plate even though it was the ONE thing we asked for? My first time trying Wahoo's and I was pleasantly surprised. I got the chicken enchiladas with the green sauce and wow. Amazing. Their green sauce is perfectly spicy but not overwhelmingly, and compliments the enchilada so well. I love how affordable but delicious Wahoo's food is. Appreciate the fact there's an affordable food option at South Coast but the food quality here has gone wayyyy down since I'd eaten here years ago. Ordered two fish tacos since it is their namesake and honestly they were pretty gross. The fish was fried basically like a chicken tender which seemed to defeat the purpose of eating a fish taco. I'm not sure about this location it seems the quality and care that goes into your food is based on the tip you leave when you order your food. When I don't tip or don't leave more than a $1 for my $6 plate when I pay my food its not hot, there is hardly any chicken in my enchilada or taco and the food is delivered in a pretty rude manner. It's pretty obvious that the girls taking the orders look to see what you tip when you hand them back the receipt, today I got a disapproving look. Typically I tip after I receive my food, I guess I can't do that here if I want more than two small pieces of chicken on my meal. I've been here a few times now and I like it. I'm usually coming for dinner so I can't speak for the lunch or lunch crowd but I would assume the food is just the same and probably just as packed. I've eaten at the Bar and I've eating inside and I've eating outside. It's always pretty nice. You go and order, they give you a number and then you sit down. Or you're at the bar and they don't give you a number, they just give you your food. Service has always been pretty good and the beer selection isn't too shabby. I've always found this place to be a pretty clean establishment and the food is pretty good. I mean I don't think it's authentic Mexican and I don't think they're trying to be authentic Mexican and that's just fine. This place is not great, but good and fast for a quick bite for lunch. I like the Wahoo steak salad and the fat free cilantro dressing, This is my go to dish here. Although this place is "famous" for fish tacos, it is not my choice, I have tried it several times and don't care for it. The staff is nice at this location. I know I've put up a few myself, and it's always cool to go to a place and see that your sticker is still there. This location has indoor and outdoor seating. It gets more room than most food places at the Spectrum, but can fill up fast during lunch and dinner. So seating can be scarce at times. This place also makes my favorite seasoned rice. I normally get the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, and the way the teriyaki mixes with their rice. Oh I wish they offered bottomless meals. read more

I came here on a Saturday afternoons for a quick sit-down bite. While we had the option for Corner Bakery across the way, we chose Wahoo's for some fish. After all, it comes a bit out the ordinary from the traditional quick eats in the area, and possibly less preservatives. I ordered the grilled fish burrito with black beans and wild rice. I found the burrito to be haphazardly put together. Despite this, the burrito was moderately tastey and felt relatively healthy compared to the beans and rice. While the burrito felt light, the beans and rice were the complete opposite. In fact, I felt incredibly stuff after having some of the beans and rice. Generally satisfied, but not blown away this place gets three stars. Parking is readily available in the structures, making it hard to get in and out of this place. I also have a bias, as I got food poisoning a few years ago from the Wahoo's on Michelson in Irvine. I rarely come to Wahoo's since then, and realize that may have a one-time rare event. read more

Wahooooo! I absolutely LOVE eating at Wahoo's! I haven't stopped craving this place.... well, ever even after many, many years frequenting this delicious eatery! It's just one of those flavors that never gets old (like other classics). I love that they have never deviated from their original concept (cool skater and surfer vibe) or the flavors they are known for (one of the BEST salsas around). What I really enjoy is their consistency. I've eaten everywhere from Fashion Island to Orange to their Irvine locations and Tustin and their food always delivers those fresh flavors I'm looking for. Their fast and super friendly service never fails, and I enjoy how all their locations are clean and well maintained. I've tried nearly everything on the menu, but highlights for me are the Kahlua Pig Bowl (shredded marinated pork over rice/beans), the original shrimp taco (the seasoning on this is mouth-watering! I'm not a fan of the new prep with the citrus slaw, so I recommend the original), the chicken tortilla soup (I add half an avocado and shredded cheese), and the shrimp Wahoo salad. I came here to pick up my phone order and decided to get a drink as well. As the cashier handed me a cup, I walked over to get my drink and slipped on melting ice. The counter broke my fall but injured my arm, my legs went opposite directions so I pulled a muscle. The cashier asked if I was ok and I voiced my injuries and was just told "oh, oh no..." and nothing else. I was so embarassed, I just wanted to get out of there but decided to call in because I am pregnant and was feeling stress on my lower abdomen area. ROSIE, the manager, could care less... she took my number and said corporate would be contacting me after reviewing the videos. Well, thankfully my baby is fine, but I never got a call back from Rosie or corporate. I work at the Spectrum and know that this should have been documented and addressed immediately. Came in for lunch. Parking lot was a death trap. Lines were out the door. Was offered immediate service at the bar. Waitress needed to get in gear. Food was dry and boring. Noise level was high. I haven't been to a Wahoo's in nearly ten years, and what I had on my recent visit was a shadow of what I remember. I ordered the blackened chicken with rice and black beans. Chicken was dry and very salty. Rice was bland. Beans were salty. Lime wedge was like jerky. The Wahoo's across the street from South Coast Plaza in Crystal Court is better. The Wahoo's on Bristol down the street from South Coast Plaza is better. The Wahoo's on Jamboree off the 405 is better. What is wrong with this place? read more

I don't live in Southern California, ​but I visit frequently. When I visit, I often squeeze in a Wahoo's visit. I like many of the older Wahoo's locations, like the one in Laguna Beach. For some reason, however, this location at the Spectrum is always consistently good. The Wahoo's menu is always solid with a variety of healthy options. For whatever reason, this location provides that little extra. The people are great, and the service is excellent. I think that's what it is--this location seems to go beyond the basics of what you expect at a fast-service restaurant​. They stop by your table and check on you. They ask if you need anything else and offer to take your empty plates. It's nice to get this level of care because so often this style of restaurant is a transactional experience. While I haven't hung out there, there is a full-service bar in the back, which I have not seen in any other Wahoo's I have visited. I'll be back for more and look forward to see what beer is on special during that next visit. :) read more
