This place is awesome, and it may depend on what you order. I got the combo with one cheese enchilada, white rice, black beans, and a little salad. It tasted really good! They are constantly cleaning the restaurant (they were scrubbing the seats! Crazy, but they were), the tables were clean! Service also got 5/5 stars. This place had really good service. Food was simple and delicious. We ordered the grilled shrimp over salad with the cilantro dressing and the Bajalada with green sauce. My only complaint is we ordered the Bajalada with Cajun beans, but they brought the plate with black beans instead. We didn't send the plate back on account that the guy was really nice and was already very accommodating with our other requests. I also like the fun free spirited decor of restaurant. Skater/surf/snowboard theme with lot of stickers everywhere. I came here with my mom and thought this sticker was precise. read more

I'm leaving this one star review because my family and I came out to lunch at Wahoos. The restaurant was not very busy at the time that we were there. So the mistakes that were made in my opinion are not excusable. We ordered our food after 20 minutes of waiting they forgot a complete full meal and we had to go back and wait another 15 minutes for that meal to come. After eating one of my chicken tacos and begin to eat my second I noticed it was not tasting correctly. Wow, rude staff. We ordered a kids quesadilla with rice and fries. Order taker said nothing about it being rice or fries. They bring it out, just fries and I let them know we ordered rice and fries. The server tell us that is extra and we should have known. Really? I don't work here, how should I "have known" that. I explained to her the person taking our order didn't say anything and maybe there should be some training there, she asks me to go the front and order. So up to the register I go, to order a side of white rice and pay the 2.70 extra. Three bucks, that's not a big deal, making the mistake my fault, that's the problem. We come here all the time and it's little issues like this that let you know a place could care less about you as a customer, so piss off wahoo's, what a letdown your service is even after explaining to her that this wasn't my fault. Came in with friends. Seating a bit tight inside, but comfortable. Staff is friendly, but we were blessed with a cashier in training. (Bless her heart, she tried her best, but ended up charging me twice for drinks. When I went back to ask for a refund on the extra charge, she used the tip jar and gave me the money back without the taxes. I asked about that and got the taxes I paid back. Manager walked by andasked how burrito was so I told him about skimpy chicken. He brought out another 1/2 chicken breast, so I'm happy camper. I realize the price of protein has skyrocketed due to inflation, but cheaping out on protein is no Bueno. A wahoo's with a bar??what!!!! I love this place. Great service great food, consistent service and it's always very clean. Recently I stopped going to the regular part and go right to the bar. You can order food straight from the bartender, watch a game on the big screens and have a very reasonably price drink. The bartenders back here are all awesome and provide great service. I love Wahoo's. I have been eating at their restaurants for over 12 years now. This location is great! They now have a full service bar on the inside called succinctly "Da Bar". You can enjoy Wahoo's versoin of bar food, catch a sporting event such as a soccer or hockey game and enjoy a drink. During Lent, i love to come here for a fish dish that is healthy on Fridays. Lately, since I am trying to live on the Paleo Diet, I have been ordering the Wahoo's Salad served mild with a side of Polynesian shrimp. I love how friendly their workers are. They are always upbeat and they also can recommend anything that will go with your meal. In addition, they prepare their food quickly - I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a meal. Their employees also take great pride in the look of their store and are constantly coming by to bus tables and check on customers. They always server their food with a smile, are more than happy to grab something such as a plate of their delicious salsa and wish you well as you leave. To me, this is what most restaurants lack and this along with their tasty food always brings me back for more. read more

Great place, consistent with every other Wahoo's. I typically order the two fish combo, grilled, with spicy beans and rice. Excellent value. I prefer Wahoo's over Rubio's. The bar, complete with full service is a nice addition; however, the bar top area feels so confined. It would be so much nicer having an open, airier atmosphere -- to be able to have open windows facing outside, offering a nicer view and the option to people-watch vs. looking straight towards the bathroom doors. I appreciated being advised that one could enjoy cocktails outdoors. While service at other Wahoo's I've visited has been consistently energetic and friendly; service at the bar didn't seem to match the friendliness at the front counter (the bartenders at Fashion Island make one feel valued, adding to the dining experience). 2-3 stars for this location's bar. Why the change from the fresh-and-flavorful pico de gallo that accompanied the chips to a "typical" salsa? Other than that disappointing change, the Chicken Tortilla Soup and the featured Salmon atop seasoned rice with a slide of slaw was satisfyingly tasty, especially for fast food. read more

Another easy location to get to via car. The location is really close to parking. As far as the food, I had the spicy chicken salad here. It was a very huge portion. I was able to customize however I wanted. I removed a couple of items from the salad. The dressing was a bit too strong for me but I'll just order it on the side next time. Love how they add a whole lot of avocado unto the salad. The staff was very friendly as well. I had no hesitation when customizing my salad and my server was attentive. Wahoo's! I used to go to the one at Santana Row in SJ as a college kid before it was replaced by Veggie Grill. Super stoked that they have it at Irvine Spectrum! As soon as you enter you're bombarded by stickers, skateboard memorabilia, their blue walls hidden behind it all, and greeted by friendly staff. If you're not sure about what to order, there's a menu on the left and directly behind the counter. I hadn't visited a location in a while so I was confused if they still had plates instead of just tacos. Sometimes a girl just needs her grilled fish with some fresh lime juice squeezed on top and seasoned steamed white rice. That's exactly what I crave when I think of Wahoo's. Sure, they're known for tacos, but I'd rather skip the tortilla. I love LOVE their steamed white rice lightly seasoned to perfection. I can seriously eat all of it from their "Wahoo's bowl" no beans please. Brown rice is also an option for the health conscious. Aside from plain grilled fish, there's the Cajun option for just about anything, including shrimp, chicken, or beef. The Baja rolls with green sauce are ok, seems like they got smaller in the past four years though. I ordered for to go and was told it would be ready in ten minutes, but my name was called in about six. Awesome! Good to know their quality doesn't change all over the state. read more

I stopped going about 2-3 years ago for no reason at all, just started trying other food I guess. Finally visited a location again and boy has the menu changed. Food it still just as good. Fish burritos, fish tacos, carnitas tacos, fish enchiladas, their black beans and white rice, their onion rings, we scarf them all. I'll go by myself or bring the whole family. My recommendations: the '84 Burrito with guacamole, and the Spicy Chee tacos, both with mild fish; also the carnitas tacos and the onion rings. Their quality is consistent. Food is always good, consistently throughout the chain. I've been a loyal customer for years. Somehow a while back I came across a coupon for 1/2 off on my next enchilada plate. I put it in my wallet and kept forgetting to use it during my last visits. Today at the Irvine Spectrum location, I finally remembered I had this thing with me. I ordered my enchiladas plate, and I handed the coupon to the young cashier. She took a look at it, went to check with some other lady (I assume it was a mgr) who was three steps away, came back and said "this cupon is expired" as she handed it back to me. I asked if she wouldn't take an expired coupon and without any type of emotion just said the word NO. When I got to my table I looked at the coupon to see how long ago it expired...well, it expired one month and 3 days ago... So my bill came to $9.96. I find it incredible that a manager would allow a patron leave with a sour taste because of this experienceb just to save a little over $4 on discounts for the day. This is the Wahoo's at the Irvine Spectrum. I feel like this store has been here forever! So somehow they have managed to do pretty well so great for them! Came in here and I usually ordered the Maui Bowl in the past, but this time I tried the Paleo Plate. I kinda wanted to try their fish since I was thinking to myself I've never had their seafood ever before. I got the steak and spicy fish paleo plate. It comes with slaw and grilled veggies. The plate came out shortly after and I tried the fish before anything. Sigh.... it was bland and dry and oh well, I thought to myself I just need the nutrients at that point. The steak was much better but thanks to the green sauce that I requested on the side. The service was somehow spectacular as everyone was very friendly at the cashier and interacting, and even while dining they kept checking up. So A+ on the service part. Stopped in for a much needed meal. Traveling and working all day, I just wanted to eat and have a beverage without any issues. I had eaten here before but, at the Honolulu location. The food was good and what I had expected. However, the lady working the bar and my table was awesome!!!!! BEST, BEST, BEST service I have received so far this year. Looks like they would have they're stuff together but they don't. I have ordered for pickup here over 10 times because I am nearby and every time they are over 15 minutes later on making the order. On top of that they have given out the wrong items. They always quote "5 minutes" but it ends up being 15+ minutes of wasting time. The staff here is far below par. read more
