Outstanding fish tacos! Ambience there is nice and service was quick.... Had these during a 2 day California trip.

I just order two meals and beverages from Wahoo's Fish Tacos on Camino Los Mares with Door Dash. When the driver was approaching the house I could see he was carrying only one beverage. I asked him where other drink was at and he said the Wahoo's employee said everything was there. I checked the bag and thought I saw it, but was only the lid to the salsa. I called the restaurant and the employee that answered the phone said I got my drink, accused me of lying, and said I was a bad customer. I asked to speak with a manager and he told that there wasn't one. When I pressed for the managers name he then said he was the manager. I then asked what his name was and he said Chris. I assumed he was lying to me again and asked him if he was. He told me he was lying about his name too. I acknowledged that mistakes happen all the time with delivery orders. His response was "then why would ever order take out"? I told this was worst customer service I have ever received and he again called me a bad customer. We have dined at this Wahoo's location several times and never received such horrible customer service. I plan on sharing this regretful experience with the real manager once I learn who that is with the hope that they can correct the problem for future patrons. We will not be visiting this restaurant ever again. I still can't believe I was accused of lying about receiving a $2.30 iced tea. I tried to explain to the very rude employee that I wouldn't have even called if the order had been delivered correctly. Wahoo's just lost a local family as a customer over an iced tea. Dirty silverware and customer service is AWFUL!! Don't come to this location. Employees are rude and don't care about quality food or service. The first sandwich was soggy on the bottom. I would get tofu as my protein for the enchiladas. The tofu has a citrusy and sweet salsa flavor that is subtle but delicious. I like to get the green enchiladas for both of my enchiladas. I remember about 30 years ago making the trek to Costa Mesa to go to Wahoo's off of Bristol. There was always a long line, but it was always well worth the wait. Some 30 years later, Wahoo's is really nothing like it once was, they are basically a chain restaurant now, the quality of the ingredients used has declined over the years. I used to love the Maui bowl, but it has changed so drastically over the years, I can remember when it first changed, and feeling so disappointed, since then it has changed several more times. The quality of meat went from being so very tasty, to good, to not so good, and to where it is now, which is to be honest, almost awful. I suppose its all about making the most money now, I would pay more for the old recipes and higher quality ingredients. Hopefully they will reconsider the path they have taken, and get back to making high quality dishes. read more

After the show we went to Wahoo's in Alisa Viejo and well it was just awful Cold food and my shrimp had absolutely NO FLAVOR came out pale and cold and BARELY COOKED! No napkins and no straws! The kids and I stopped here for a quick dinner before getting back on the road. The kids had the chicken and rice kids bowl and I had the banzai bowl. The kids are up their food which and I inhaled my meal as well. The veggies were fresh and tasty. They weren't mushy and overcooked. The chicken was not dry and I could taste the flame in it if that makes any sense. The rice had a hint of lime to it and they complimented each other very well. I will be back! read more

Ordered food for my family of four to go. Three of the four items were wrong when we got home which caused problems with routine and had to scramble. Called next day to request refund for paying full price for food we never got and the difficult experience we were out in. The owner of Wahoo's (Wing?) calls back just completely rude before I speak a single word, he tells me his manager and he reviewed the order and they "both" confirmed they made zero mistakes on my order? What? Why am I calling then? Why am I wasting my time? After excuses and complete delusional behavior by Wing, he adds insult to injury and REFUSES to simply refund my money. I now grow impatient and hang up the phone and will never go back. We live here locally in Capo Beach and will find other 'local' restaurants that truly appreciate customers, know customer service, and can simply admit when they make a mistake. Stumbled upon this place by accident after the place we were going to was closed. It is kind of a fast food Mexican taco restaurant. The decor is kind a California surfer vibe. My wife and I shared three tacos: the Citrus Slaw Taco, the 1988 Taco, and the fried fish taco. All three were of a good size and excellent. The fish was flounder, the amount of fish in the tacos was substantial, and the ingredients were fresh and there was plenty of them. We also enjoyed the salsa that was served with the tacos. They're definitely great, well prepared tacos. The only thing that was a little odd was you could eat in the restaurant (I guess eating in is okay now) but you couldn't eat on the patio as the chairs and tables were stacked up. My wife and I definitely would have preferred eating outside, especially with the weather being so good. read more

Wahoo's is a great spot for a semi-healthy meal. I love their Bonzai and Maui bowls. Their white rice (not healthy) and white beans are on point, as are their chips, guac, and variety of salsa. Wahoos food quality is going downhill. Anyone who has been a loyal wahoos fan will tell you the same! I have been to 3 different locations all seem to have their own variety if the same dish. Even a Maui bowl looks and tastes different than other locations. Tonight I ate at the San Clemente location and it was HORRIBLE. MEAT WAS FATTY AND CHEWY, RICE WAS UDERCOOKED AND SALSA WAS YELLOW(see pics). When we mentioned it they ignored us. I will never eat at Wahoos again. So sad because it was so good. This place is horrible. We have always loved Wahoos but this store is the worst! We ordered online and we had to wait 45 minutes for our food. People who had come into the restaurant, ordered their food, ate their food and left before our order was ready. I worked close to a Wahoo's for years and never really gave it a try. Today my friends and I stopped in for a quick bite on the way home from a road trip, and boy was the food delicious! I had high hopes after visiting the Wahoo's Fish Tacos in Temecula but ended up with overpriced and undercooked food. On the high side, I was able to slap a dozen more stickers around the restaurant chain. Don't call the authorities just yet, they encourage it. I ordered a fish taco and fish enchilada with green sauce and rice/beans ($7). The fish was alright, the beans and rice were terribly undercooked and there didn't seem to be a hint of flavor. Taco Bell had more flavor that this meal. The sweat from my underarm would have tasted better than the food I was given. I didn't expect to have to shovel down food just to eat a filling lunch. I LOVE this place... definitely my go to. I always get the bean and cheese burrito without rice, I'm just not a big rice in my burrito person. And it is AMAZING!!! Their churro chips are the bomb too. The service is great as well, unlike most counter service restaurants they check on you and ask how you are doing. The location is great but food Meh. I've been coming to Wahoo's for years at different locations and this was my first visit to the San Clemente location and probably one of my worst experiences. LOCATION & AMBIANCE (Rating 3) It's a typical Wahoo's; stickers and all! it's not very wide though and the counter area gets even tighter. It's so tight that they really don't have a designated structural line area like at other locations. No biggie on that though as it's still comfortable. SERVICE (Rating 2.5) Counter service as usual. When they brought the food I asked for a couple of things that were missing. They brought 1 of 2 and said they would be right back. no luck. I went up and handled it myself. CITRUS SLAW BURRITO (Rating 2) If you're going to advertise "Citrus" I expect to be able to taste citrus. The only thing I tasted was rice and beans as there was so little fish that it went almost unnoticed. I also ordered it wet with the green sauce. There was barely any green sauce and what was there had been dried out by either their oven or heat lamp. Total FAIL on this burrito! read more

They have the best fresh fish tacos, which makes total sense since they are near the Pacific coast. Hence fish, right? Anyway, I've only had 2 offerings from their menu, the Citrus Slaw Fish Taco and always gotta get the plate, I mean come on! Who in their right mind wouldn't as it comes with choice of 2 tacos, choice of brown or white rice and choice of black or Cajun white beans or sub with a side of their house specialty citrus slaw. Or I have their Bonzai Salmon Bowl. Their Bonzai Bowl is with choice of protein, chicken (Cajun or grilled), pork carnitas, carna asada (100% angus steak), wild caught salmon (Cajun or grilled), sautéed shrimp or sautéed tofu with a mixture of sautéed veggies over rice and beans. Perfection either way I choose.
